CNN blows another big one

Sciutto (Def): A goober so eager to embarrass the President that he doesn’t wait for facts and later has to eat it.

You have to hand it to CNN. They seen determined to hit the bottom of the cesspit. Today CNN reporter Jim Sciutto reported this:

Washington (CNN)In a previously undisclosed secret mission in 2017, the United States successfully extracted from Russia one of its highest-level covert sources inside the Russian government, multiple Trump administration officials with direct knowledge told CNN.

A person directly involved in the discussions said that the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.

The decision to carry out the extraction occurred soon after a May 2017 meeting in the Oval Office in which Trump discussed highly classified intelligence with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. The intelligence, concerning ISIS in Syria, had been provided by Israel.

The disclosure to the Russians by the President, though not about the Russian spy specifically, prompted intelligence officials to renew earlier discussions about the potential risk of exposure, according to the source directly involved in the matter.

The Hill immediately jumped on it

Later Sciutto would claim this

Yeah, except for the fact that the NY Times blew the story to hell.

As American officials began to realize that Russia was trying to sabotage the 2016 presidential election, the informant became one of the C.I.A.’s most important — and highly protected — assets. But when intelligence officials revealed the severity of Russia’s election interference with unusual detail later that year, the news media picked up on details about the C.I.A.’s Kremlin sources.

C.I.A. officials worried about safety made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia. The situation grew more tense when the informant at first refused, citing family concerns — prompting consternation at C.I.A. headquarters and sowing doubts among some American counterintelligence officials about the informant’s trustworthiness. But the C.I.A. pressed again months later after more media inquiries. This time, the informant agreed.

Late 2016. As in Trump was not President.

The decision to extract the informant was driven “in part” because of concerns that Mr. Trump and his administration had mishandled delicate intelligence, CNN reported. But former intelligence officials said there was no public evidence that Mr. Trump directly endangered the source, and other current American officials insisted that media scrutiny of the agency’s sources alone was the impetus for the extraction.

Keep that last sentence in mind as you read this:

A former senior Russian official is living in the Washington area under U.S. government protection, current and former government officials tell NBC News.

NBC News is withholding the man’s name and other key details at the request of U.S. officials, who say reporting the information could endanger his life.

Yet the former Russian government official, who had a job with access to secrets, was living openly under his true name.

An NBC News correspondent went to the man’s house in the Washington area and rang the doorbell. Five minutes later, two young men in an SUV came racing up the street and parked immediately adjacent to the correspondent’s car.

The men, who identified themselves only as friends of the Russian, asked the correspondent what he was doing there.

A former senior national security official said the men were likely U.S. government agents monitoring the Russian’s house.

It’s almost as though they want the guy done in. They were terrified that Trump might out the guy and they’ve all but published a map showing where the guy lives.

This is a major FUBAR but at CNN, it’s just another day. And don’t forget- Jim Sciutto was an Obama employee.

It helps understand the incompetence.

Isn’t it nice of CNN to suddenly take an interest in someone mishandling classified information and endangering lives? I wonder where this concern was when Russia had all of Hillary’s emails or China was reading those emails at the same time Hillary was? I guess it’s only an interest to liberals when it can be made up about an opponent.

CNN is useless as a source of valid information. No wonder they host Democrat “debates”.

Once again CNN nails its Coffin shut as Americas turn them off

Does CNN try to rehabilitate itself?
No.
It doubles down on slanted stupid.
The latest CNN poll:
”6 in 10 say Trump does not deserve a second term.”
Really?
“6 in 10” what?
How about 25% Republicans, 31% Democrats and 44% “Other Party.”
1st problem: Dems are oversampled.
2nd problem: Lots of other parties are Leftists.
There’s the Green Party, the Democratic Socialists of America, and more.

CNN blows the big one, alright. And all the others of various sizes as well.

Reuters, September 11, 2019 – Russia blasts idea a CIA mole lifted lid on its U.S. meddling

MOSCOW/LONDON (Reuters) – Russia on Wednesday condemned as lies and slander suggestions a suspected CIA mole in President Vladimir Putin’s administration had handed over information to the United States about alleged Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential elections.

Deputy Foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov made the comment after U.S. media reports, confirmed to Reuters by two sources, said a CIA informant in the Russian government had been extracted and brought to the United States in 2017.

U.S. intelligence agencies have said Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election campaign in order to tilt the vote in U.S. President Donald Trump’s favor. Moscow has denied any interference.

A source familiar with the U.S. government’s handling of the informant told Reuters the mole had provided information that helped establish Russian involvement in efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. campaign. CNN said on Tuesday the informant had helped show that Putin had directed Russian interference into the election to favor Trump.

But Ryabkov said the alleged mole could not have had any role in revealing election meddling because there was no meddling.

And if you can’t believe the Russians on this point, who can you believe?

“And what is happening in terms of such interpretations is just the piling up of one lie on top of another and the multiplication of slander about us,” he was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

The Kremlin said separately on Wednesday it did not know if one of its former employees had been a CIA informant, but that Russia’s intelligence services were working on the case.

Russian daily newspaper Kommersant has said that the official may have been a man called Oleg Smolenkov. He was reported to have disappeared with his wife, Antonina, and three children while on holiday in Montenegro in June 2017.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday: “I can only state that this employee existed, that he was fired, and that we don’t know whether he was a spy or not. This is a question for the intelligence services – they are doing their job.”

The source familiar with the U.S. handling of the case said on Wednesday that the CIA had moved to extract the informant because of growing fears his activities and identity could leak.

The CIA has said any suggestion that Trump, in contacts with Russian leaders, had somehow compromised the source’s existence was false.

Said who, on behalf of the CIA?

It’s already known that in May 2017 Trump shared highly classified information about ISIS obtained from Israel with Sergey Kislyak during a meeting in the Oval Office. Of course Trump has done the same with the CIA that he’s done with the DoJ.

On Wednesday, Russian daily newspaper Vedomosti cited an unnamed source close to the security services as saying Smolenkov had latterly worked for at least five years as a top aide to Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov and that he had access to “very sensitive information, including intelligence information”.

Smolenkov was stationed as a Russian diplomat in the United States during the same time as Ushakov was ambassador to Washington, official Russian documents show.

The Kremlin has said that Smolenkov was not a high-level official when he later transferred to the presidential administration after returning to Russia and did not have access to President Vladimir Putin.

Russian state news agency RIA said on Wednesday it had visited a house listed as owned by a man named Oleg Smolenkov in Stafford, Virginia, near Washington D.C., an area where it said many former U.S. military and FBI personnel live.

It said the curtains of the house were drawn, that there was no sign of any activity inside and that no one answered the door.

One of the neighbors, a man named Greg Tally, said the house’s residents had Russian accents and that they had left the property abruptly after a reporter turned up in the area, RIA said.

@Greg: During a meeting with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador last week, President Donald Trump revealed highly classified information related to a potential Islamic State (ISIS) threat to use laptop computers in terrorist attacks on aircraft.
It was reported in the news that large electronics were already banned on foreign flights how highly classified could that be?
The propaganda hoopla has been debunked a long time ago.
“The president and the foreign minister reviewed common threats from terrorist organizations to include threats to aviation,” H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, who participated in the meeting told the Post. “At no time were any intelligence sources or methods discussed, and no military operations were disclosed that were not already known publicly.
Do try to keep up, dont dredge up old debunked crapola and embarrass yourself.

@Greg:

And if you can’t believe the Russians on this point, who can you believe?

Certainly not Democrats, who facilitated the meddling and did far more damage to election integrity than 10,000 Russians could.

It’s already known that in May 2017 Trump shared highly classified information about ISIS obtained from Israel with Sergey Kislyak during a meeting in the Oval Office. Of course Trump has done the same with the CIA that he’s done with the DoJ.

It is also known that every one of Hillary’s State Department emails, which she kept on a private, secret, unsecured server in order to avoid FOIA requests (and allow her to destroy 33,000 incriminating emails the instant State Department asked for them) were being read by China in real time and unknown quantities and classifications of emails were hacked by Russians. That has done FAR more damage than sharing information with Russians so they can kill the same enemies we are killing. Notice, those enemies are gone… right?

@Deplorable Me: Now we know that deleting over 30 K yoga emails after giving them to lawyers that have no security clearance to decide if they were work related isnt bad, just look at Xi Jinping he is trim and fit following Stinkys fitness plan, its like a Jane Fonda workout or sumthin’.
I know you like to tease about the JV team and it was simply a coincidence that after Barry was no longer arming “freedom fighters” that ISIL(Barrys term of respect) got its ass kicked.

@kitt:

I know you like to tease about the JV team and it was simply a coincidence that after Barry was no longer arming “freedom fighters” that ISIL(Barrys term of respect) got its ass kicked.

I’m sure that, like the economy, the destruction of ISIS was only due to the thorough groundwork Obama did and left for Trump.

@Deplorable Me: He tried so hard to get the US to the bottom so Hillary could take the credit for those big government jobs created.
