It appears Mueller will be conducting his investigation via leaks to the press

As you know, Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel to investigate the alleged meddling by Russia in the 2016 election. Since his appointment he has added a significant number of lawyers to his team- a lot of democrats:

Today, the sixteenth member of his team, Greg Andres, reported for work. Andres, who worked most recently as a criminal defense attorney, previously served in the Obama Justice Department from 2010-12.

In addition, according to The Daily Caller, Andres has donated at least $3,700 to federal Democratic candidates, including $2,700 to New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand

in March of this year. Via TheBlaze:

He also has a connection [to the Democrats] through his wife, Ronnie Abrams, a federal district court judge who sits on the bench in southern New York. She was nominated to the seat by former President Barack Obama and came recommended by Gillibrand.

There seven other Democratic attorneys on the team, and together they donated a total of over $60,700 to Democratic campaigns.

The deck is stacked. It gets worse. In rapid fire succession it is leaked that Mueller will impanel a Washington Grand Jury

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury in Washington to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections, a sign that his inquiry is growing in intensity and entering a new phase, according to people familiar with the matter. (emphasis mine)

The grand jury, which began its work in recent weeks, signals that Mr. Mueller’s inquirywill likely continue for months. Mr. Mueller is investigating Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 election and whether President Donald Trump’s campaign or associates colluded with the Kremlin as part of that effort.

and then bam, the topic is leaked:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A grand jury has issued subpoenas in connection with a June 2016 meeting that included President Donald Trump’s son, his son-in-law and a Russian lawyer, two sources told Reuters (emphasis mine) on Thursday, signaling an investigation is gathering pace into suspected Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

The sources added that U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller had convened the grand jury investigation in Washington to help examine allegations of Russian interference in the vote. One of the sources said it was assembled in recent weeks.

Absolutely nothing is private when it comes to Trump. It is quite obvious that there is a large contingent out for his scalp- at any cost. It is extremely disappointing that Robert Mueller, who is so highly regarded by the left and the right, seems to have settled in to the sieve milieu. It seems that Mueller is going to be conducting this investigation via leaks to the press.

And that is wrong on so many levels.

It is odd that nothing among the wretched things which went down during the obama regime seem to have warranted a special prosecutor- not Fast and Furious, not the targeting of conservatives by the IRS, not the intersection of Prevezon, Bill Clinton and HIllary Clinton, the Magnitsky Act and millions of dollars, not the extortion of obama by Iran- nothing.

But one stupid meeting between Junior and a Russian lawyer connected to the democrats… and presto- special prosecutor. You’d almost believe it was a set-up.

Over at the Boston Globe, Kevin Cullen wrote of an interaction between himself and Robert Mueller. He concluded that Mueller would not “leak like Trump.”

My, how times change.

Hillary committed perjury, on national television, before Congress, and she was almost elected President. This tells you how much Democrats respect the law. They simply DON’T.

So, when you seen them demanding special prosecutors, impaneling Grand Juries, leaking classified information and hyperbolic reactions to nothing, you know precisely and beyond doubt what is the impetus for the outrage: nothing but vindictive sore-losership.

The Democrats utilized illegal means and methods to try and hold onto power. Now they accuse illegal activity where there is none in a childish attempt to retake power; power they not only do not deserve, but which has proved harmful to the citizens of the United States. The left is proving itself to be truly evil.

I read this on another page. I agree with it and could not say it any better. “…If Trump is somehow forced out the Dems will then proceed to destroy the rest of the Republican party including Mike Pence. And if they are successful forcing Trump out they will be successful destroying the party. The Reps will be so discredited and loose so much support from the base they will be out of power for decades. That will give the Big Government Globalist Dems more than enough time to make the USA just another socialist nation in the global community. The Dems don’t want to oppose the opposition they want to eliminate it and be the rulers of our nation. We stop them now or it is over…”

@Belle: Quick question, can a sitting President pardon himself or anyone else he sees fit to pardon??

@ Common Sense. I am not a bottom feeder sub human ie lawyer or politician. Therefore, I can not answer your fishy question. Why don’t you enlighten the world with your missive?

@Belle: Let me help you out of the slimy sewer!! YES he can!!

What a great opportunity ta shut Mueller down. Prosecute his staff, and maybe him for illegally leaking special counsel information.

To show you how sideways things are, Hillary has provided empirical proof of her guilt, yet nothing. A ginned up false narrative about Trump colluding with Russia gets a Special Prosecutor and a Grand Jury.

@Common Sense:

It isn’t clear if the presidential pardoning powers include himself as it’s been argued for some time. Being unprecedented and accordingly unchallenged, it would be determined by the SCOTUS once we cross that bridge.

There’s also the argument of pardoning from proscecusion and being immune from impeachment. A pardoning also doesn’t prevent an investigation. If the Constitution’s actual words mean anything, you might note Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution which says the president “shall have the Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”

But then again, if it doesn’t support your agenda, I guess those words mean nothing, or, something else, or is fake news, or, or, or something.

@Ajay42302: It’s just a question and sounds like the answer is unclear at best. I appreciate most of your response. What if a sitting president resigns, is found guilty of a crime, and the VP pardons him?? I’m guessing this would fit the agenda of both right and left given the ridiculous pardons of past administrations!!

@Ajay42302: Of course, you are aware that the entire left being crybabies is not grounds for impeachment, aren’t you?

@Common Sense:
For what it’s worth, I’m no fan of such broad pardoning powers as it’s no more than an incubator for corruption and abuse. And that applies to either party.

If you recall, Agnew resigned in disgrace, Ford became VP and then POTUS when Nixon resigned in disgrace, and then later pardoned Nixon which most historians contribute to his defeat to Carter.

@Bill… Deplorable Me:
Ork!

@Ajay42302: We are in agreement on that point and as far as who pardoned who the stench is on both sides. Slick pardoned a real slime ball named Rich as well. Ford losing to Carter was definitely a loss for America. I like Carter as a humanitarian but as President a total loser. Waiting in line on odd and even days to buy gas, are you kidding me!! We don’t agree on much but on this point we do.

There’s a reason most of those pardons are signed on the President’s last day in office…

@Common Sense:

If we’re going to assign blame to Carter for the 1973 oil crises (which was actually an embargo due to the Arab-Israeli war), shouldn’t GWB be equally chastised for the near $5 a gallon rape-at-the-pump while Exon et al raked in historical profits?

While this “loser” cry from the right wails on Carter (and of course Obama), it really isn’t consistent with reality or historians even though I understand an opposing ideology (and yes, either side) will sift through the data to cherry pick to build their case.

As I personally recall and as history books show, Carter inherited many problems from the Nixon Administration. Even though he stepped into record unemployment, outrages interest rates, and a similar oil gouging that’s going on now, by the end of his term he was able to claim an increase of nearly eight million jobs and a decrease in the budget deficit. Reagan barely kept up on job growth and as Republicans so often do, shot that budget decrease all to hell. Clinton came along, created 23 million jobs while leaving a budget surplus. Bush totally crashed the bus over a cliff which handed Obama the bill. While the right howled and blamed Obama for the Bush crash, he proceeded in restoring the economy (i could research those numbers but we both know they’re there and would only give more validity to my argument) Today we see trump enjoying the results of Obama but with the plutocrats and snake oil policies he’s putting in place, history is bound to repeat itself.

On another Carter note in line with todays arguments on the “war on coal”, I often wonder how that industry and miners would have faired had Reagon not killed all Carter inititives on the coal degasification plants that had been scheduled to be built in KY and VA.

@Ajay42302: Much of Carter’s budget success was due to his severe cuts in defense spending, which bore immediate results in the embarrassing Iranian hostage rescue attempt (another Democrat handing our enemies a propaganda bonanza). Reagan had to rebuild the military and his spending resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union, no minor fete.

Clinton came along at the time of the .com boom, something he can claim no credit for.

No one blamed Obama for the “Bush” crash (a more accurate description, were one interested in any level of accuracy, would be the Carter/Clinton Community Reinvestment Act Crash), but creating the atmosphere for a booming recovery should have been the easiest thing imaginable. Instead, Obama did all he could to strangle a weak economy, with maintaining the flow of illegal immigrants, onerous regulations and, of course, the debacle of Obamacare.

There have been no coattail benefits from following Obama into the White House other than anything being a vast improvement. It WAS pretty easy for Trump to reverse hundreds of Obama regulations and help boost the economy, though and him just showing up and NOT being Obama has drastically cut illegal immigration.

Washington Post, August 9 – Why is the FBI so interested in Paul Manafort that agents were literally at his door before dawn?

The FBI showed up with a warrant before dawn, unannounced, searched his home, and seized documents.

August 7 – ‘Fake news’? The Russia investigation is getting very, very real.

Which makes me wonder a bit about the curious timing of leaks regarding North Korea moving cruise missiles to a patrol boat and suddenly having a miniaturized nuclear warhead. Where did those leaks actually come from, and what was the motive?
