See something, say something, die. Murder in Minneapolis

If you see something, say something blares the title on the Department of Homeland Security page.

Across the nation, we’re all part of communities. In cities, on farms, and in the suburbs, we share everyday moments with our neighbors, colleagues, family, and friends. It’s easy to take for granted the routine moments in our every day—going to work or school, the grocery store or the gas station. But your every day is different than your neighbor’s—filled with the moments that make it uniquely yours. So if you see something you know shouldn’t be there—or someone’s behavior that doesn’t seem quite right—say something. Because only you know what’s supposed to be in your everyday. Informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our nation safe. “If You See Something, Say Something™

Australian-born Justine Damond did just that and was killed for it. She called into the Minneapolis police department what she believed could be a possible sexual assault. Two officers were dispatched to the scene where and it all went bad:

Harrity told Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators they were driving south through the alley between Washburn and Xerxes avenues S. with the squad lights turned off. At the moment they reached the end of the alley toward 51st Street he heard a “loud sound” and that Damond approached the driver’s side window of the squad car “immediately afterward.” Noor, who was in the passenger seat, fired past Harrity through the open driver’s side window, striking Damond in the abdomen. She died 20 minutes later.

Noor was startled by a blond white woman dressed in pajamas and felt compelled to shoot her. There are a great number of questions about this event, beginning with why the cops’ body cameras weren’t turned on, which is in violation of Department recommendations.  The cop who killed Damond, Mohammed Noor, reached across his partner to shoot Damond. That’s very curious.

One wonders why his gun was drawn without having assessed the situation at all.

It wasn’t just Noor who killed Damond. The Mayor and the Police Chief of Minneapolis also contributed to her death. Noor is a Somali immigrant who was fast-tracked onto the Minneapolis Police Department.

Minneapolis made a significant financial investment in Mohamed Noor.

The officer who fatally shot Justine Damond graduated in 2015 from the city’s accelerated police cadet program. The seven-month training is a quicker, nontraditional route to policing aimed at helping those who already have a college degree enter law enforcement.

Noor switched careers to become a cop:

Before heading into law enforcement, Noor worked in commercial and residential property management and managed a hotel. He has a degree in business administration, management and economics from Augsburg College.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said the killing “should not have happened.” This picture may help you understand why events transpired as they did:

Hodges made a big splash of Noor’s becoming a cop.

The Somali-born Minnesota police officer alleged to have shot and killed an unarmed Australian woman on Saturday had been lauded by Minneapolis’ mayor and feted by the local community when he joined the force in 2015.

“I want to take a moment to recognize Officer Mohamed Noor, the newest Somali officer in the Minneapolis Police Department,” Mayor Betsy Hodges wrote in a Facebook post when Noor began serving the city. “Officer Noor has been assigned to the 5th Precinct, where his arrival has been highly celebrated, particularly by the Somali community in and around Karmel Mall.”

In fact, The Washington Post reported that community threw a party for Noor – the first Somali-American officer to serve in the precinct. Minneapolis is home to one of the nation’s largest Somali communities.

“He came to the United States at a young age and is thankful to have had so many opportunities,” Thomas Plunkett, Noor’s attorney, said Monday. “…For him, being a police officer is a calling.”

In his short tenure as a cop, Noor has had 3 complaints filed against him and not everyone thinks Noor is a great guy:

Forklift driver Chris Miller, 49, has lived next door for the past two years and said he wasn’t surprised to learn Noor was the policeman making international headlines for firing on Ms Damond after she called 911 about what she thought was a sexual assault in the alley behind her house.

“He is extremely nervous … he is a little jumpy … he doesn’t really respect women, the least thing you say to him can set him off,” Mr Miller said.

“When they say a policeman shot an Australian lady I thought uh, oh but then when they said who it was I was like, ‘OK.’”

He said Noor, who has refused to explain to investigators what led him to shoot dead bride-to-be Damond, was a strict and ill-tempered presence in the townhouse block, where children play together in a playground in a small park between the units.

“He got into it with the kids, they were outside playing and something got stuck in a tree and he came out and he just started yelling at the kids because they were out here playing,” Mr Miller said.

“He has little respect for women he has little respect for blacks and kids,” said Mr Miller, who is African-American.

“He has an air like you just couldn’t really be around him.”

Minneapolis police seem to have a low rate of body cam usage:

Police department records indicate there were 420 officers who worked in March and were assigned a body camera on their shifts.  The body camera policy is complicated, but essentially every officer who wears a body cam must turn it on while responding to critical incidents, traffic stops and domestic disturbances.

Those records show that on average officers across the city uploaded between 5.2 to 6.1 hours of body camera video footage for the entire month.  The seven City Hall officers assigned to wear a body camera averaged 16 hours of uploaded video for the month.

Now Noor is reportedly refusing to be interviewed.

It appears that the Mayor, eyeing re-election, was ingratiating herself with the Somali Muslim community and helped push Noor onto the force. The Police Chief seems derelict in making certain Noor was properly trained and that those under her command turn on their body cams.

The killing of Justine Damond was a group effort.

Also notable in this race-reversal shooting case is the lack of rioting, blocking of traffic and torching of private property.

And press coverage:

The Minneapolis shooting has the added factor that the officer comes from a Muslim community that has received increased scrutiny due to the relatively large number of jihadis it has provided for ISIS. Somalis are also one of the national groups targeted by President Trump’s travel ban, which the media paints as un-American and fascistic.

So there’s an added incentive for journalists to obfuscate this case and cover this story with an unprecedented level of restraint. Urban elites don’t want to give those awful nativists an incentive to view an enriching immigrant community with suspicion.

That may explain why there’s such a dramatic difference in the coverage of Damond’s slaying versus other similar incidents.

Darren Wilson was crucified after the justified shooting of Michael Brown. To this day he remains in hiding as his life is still in danger. Mohammed Noor is being protected on all quarters. It will be interesting to see if The New Yorker magazine runs a damning article on Noor as they did Wilson.

Don’t hold your breath.

Addendum: Mark Steyn notes that the Washington Post story about this shooting doesn’t even include the name of the officer. In the Michael Brown shooting, Darren Wilson was the bad man and Brown was the victim. In this case, because the killer cop is Muslim and the dead woman is white, Noor is the victim.

UPDATE

Minneapolis cops don’t just shoot innocent people. They shoot innocent dogs too.

So, I guess the media and the left (oops… repetition) DO know how to properly react to a police shooting… hold fire until enough of the details are known and be careful not to endanger the cop or community.

I didn’t think they did, based on past examples. What could be different?

The black neighbor, non-Muslim’s viewpoint of Noor’s presence on the block is a sharp contrast to that of his fellow Muslims:

Suud Olat said he did not know Noor personally but described Noor as a kind, fair person who cares about protecting citizens.
Abdikadir Hassan, a candidate for the Park Board seat in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, said Noor was considered a role model. “He is inspiring to young people in the community,” Hassan said. “He is very supportive and good with the kids. He is such a lovely guy.”

Sounds like a different man is being described, huh.
One (the black non-Muslim) with personal observations, very NEGATIVE.
Two others (Muslims) with NO personal observations, very positive.

Noor had only recently divorced from his wife* and the mother of his children. Only explanation is he’s a “workaholic.”
For unknown reasons he was evaluated in how he interacted with his own offspring.
He insists you leave his “family” alone, too.
Sure doesn’t want reporters talking with the mother of his child!

*According to family court records, Noor and his son’s mother met in college and never legally married. They split up when the boy was 3. She wanted to move (with her son) to NJ and he prevented that.

When we put all the tidbits together, we see a typical Muslim male; a control-freak with his own family, unkind to non-Muslims, creatively messaging his bad situation, and a LIAR.

The only people to protest the mayor over this incident was a group of angry blacks. White people have been cowed by PC, and are not allowed to even get angry about a truly innocent white woman getting gunned down by a Somali pirate policeman. If any group has a right to protest and riot, it is the white population of Minneapolis. But they won’t, because they are civilized. Perhaps too civilized. Leftism combined with Islam is a powerful force of evil that needs to be confronted.

Black cop shoots innocent white person seems to elicit a different set of reflexive responses than White cop shoots innocent black person. Maybe what should be focused on is Innocent person shot without any apparent justification.

@Greg: Not much political utility in that scenario though, is there? Thus, the left wing silence. Much like when Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city with a stolen federal agent’s gun; no political leverage at all, so silence and forgotten.

@Deplorable Me, #5:

So who would you say is trying to find some “political utility” in it?

@Greg:
I would be just as outraged if it had been an innocent black woman gunned down by a white cop. The fact is that this cop was rushed through the vetting and training process to get him on the street as soon as possible. The politics is all on the Mayor and police chief in trying to placate a Somali Muslim constituency.

@Greg:

So who would you say is trying to find some “political utility” in it?

Democrats, Greg. Democrats. From Zimmermann to Freddie Gray, Democrats ALWAYS circle over a tragedy and try to further their political agenda, be it immigration, gun control or any of the other restrictions they seek to impose.

What is starkly contrasting is when a tragedy is due solely to liberal policies; then it is swept under the rug and any effort to seek justice is, amazingly, viewed as “exploitation” from the other side.

I can only imagine how it galls you liberals when a tragedy cannot be properly exploited. Of course, were this a white cop and a black victim, neighborhoods would be in flames and calls for more federal control over local police would be sounding. It would be difficult now, though, to find racism behind every action or word, as was the case under the Obama regime. A Muslim cop, fast-tracked through the system to check a box on some quota spread sheet somewhere killing a white woman? No doubt, evidence of Trump/Russian collusion is being sought in Minneapolis rather than, perhaps, an error in judgement of using quotas to fill police ranks.

There’s just nothing there for liberals to use so, not surprisingly, like all the black on black murders and crime in Chicago, there is no need to discuss it.

The Somali-born Minnesota police officer will walk

@M0S #8541: The Somali-born Minnesota police officer will walk

Stats disagree w/ you.
The National Police Misconduct Reporting Project analyzed 3,238 criminal cases against police officers. They found that 33 percent were convicted, and 36 percent ended up serving prison sentences. Both of those are about half the rate at which members of the public are convicted or incarcerated.
So, why would Officer Noor get convicted and serve time?

1. He was under order to turn on his body cam but did not.
2. He shot past his partner to kill her.
3. Although he’s declined to be interviewed, he has spoken with friends and their accounts of his excuses are chilling.
4. He has received recognition from the city’s mayor while having two open complaints against him.
5. His lawyer is “blaming the victim,” saying she was on drugs.
6. A witness video’ed the incident and has turned it over to investigators.
7. The mother of his child (never married to him) might be found and fill in some gaps about him. No Constitutional protection against this.
8. Venue will be changed.

@Greg:

Maybe what should be focused on is Innocent person

Probably no ‘innocent’ person in a Chicago neighborhood.

@Greg:

So who would you say is trying to find some “political utility” in it?

dumbocraps! as always

@Greg: @Greg: You, obviously.

Darren Wilson and other innocent officers, as the six in Baltimore who were framed, have had targets painted on their backs have been apparently abandoned by those who should support them. Being one who was blacklisted for performing subcontracted audit work that found many illegal/improper actions, I know to some degree what that can do to you and your family. Fortunately my company backed me but we had to move across the country and had other sacrifices.
I am disgusted that people with money have not seen to it that these officers have a decent life, because unlike me they were publicly attacked and identified making it almost impossible to have a safe and comfortable life as I managed to achieve.
If I ever hit the lottery big time that would be the first thing I would do; set up trust funds for them. Fat chance of that happening, but if it did they would be set for life, that I promise you. No one would deserve it more.

Every police shooting of a civilian is different—adjudicators should be colorblind. Fair hearing and trial if warranted–presumption of innocence.
Cops should be treated the same as everyone else.
This cop better get a great lawyer.

@Rich Wheeler: I agree on your comments, we need to wait for all the details to be known before we make a judgment on what happened.
What do you think of the Trumpster barring Trannies from military service? Now Mooche won’t get to enlist. These people obviously have mental problems that the military services don’t need to be dealing with.

@Redteam: Google Seal Team 6 hero TRANSGENDER Christine Beck–She’s got some words for DT.
DT called Mac a hero–His Senate reception–outstanding.
Thoughts on Trump’s treatment of his dedicated supporter Sessions? Seems really classless even by Trump’s .lowly standards.
The Mooch had hair and make up folks work on Sarah–still looks like her dad. She can’t join the military either

@Rich Wheeler:

Google Seal Team 6 hero TRANSGENDER Christine Beck–She’s got some words for DT.

It’s unfortunate that him serving with a seal team screwed him up so much. Same kinda thing that happened to McCain at the Hanoi Songbird Fest.

–His Senate reception–outstanding.

I have no problem with their reception. I feel he made a big effort to get back there for that vote.
Not quite sure how getting brain cancer changes your status from songbird to hero.

Thoughts on Trump’s treatment of his dedicated supporter Sessions?

I think Sessions should stay in his job. He did stab Trump in the back in recusing himself without telling Trump he was going to do it as soon as he was approved. He should have told him before.

@Redteam: Trump’s trying to get Sessions to quit—he’ll eventually go after acting AG and Mueller.
Sarah H can’t join up.

@Rich Wheeler:

Thoughts on Trump’s treatment of his dedicated supporter Sessions?

I prefer Sessions stay. Not my decision to make.

Sarah H can’t join up.

Who is Sarah H? You thinking of Sarah Sanders? She was born female and has been female all her life. Never heard that she has a mental condition.

@Redteam: Even with Scaramucci The Mooch make over– poor gal still looks like her dad.
She won’t keep her sanity long while trying to defend Trump,. Spizer lucky to be out. The Mooch will probably take the podium soon–tough New Yorker.
Sessions is being humiliated by his classless, cowardly boss. Think he’ll resign..

@Rich Wheeler:

Sessions is being humiliated by his classless, cowardly boss. Think he’ll resign..

No, I think he’ll stay.

poor gal still looks like her dad.

Hmm when did you take up running down persons according to their appearance? I mean, we all know Hillary is a pantsuit Hag, but we don’t talk about it. While I might not put Sarah in a beauty classification, at least she looks like a woman, unlike Mooche.

The Mooch will probably take the podium soon–tough New Yorker.

be sure not to accidentally put an e on the end of Mooch so as to keep the distinction from Mooche.

The government is not the safe haven for people that don’t do their jobs anymore. Instead of getting a sweet pension and retirement for failure, being fired is what awaits those who do not fulfill their commitments.

Notice that suddenly Sessions is pursuing the leaks and leakers. When they are found, I suspect they won’t just be asked to leave. I predict they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and, once that begins, we will see other rats leaving the ship.

He should never have recused himself; at least not until something substantive was actually uncovered. Nothing of the kind has been revealed and surrendering in the face of mere accusations only promotes the image of guilt.

Trump is changing the culture in government. This will result in better performance, money savings and a decrease in failure.

@Redteam: I see the true feelings some liberals have about gays and transgenders reveals itself… again. Transgenderism is viewed as an insult to be hurled at opponents to demean and attack them. No doubt liberal gays and transgenders will fail to take serious notice of their true status among the liberals and liberal elite.

And, again, we see how liberals view strong women. They are to be attacked, insulted and beaten down unless they subscribe to the liberal mantra. Ms. Huckabee-Sanders is a sharp and able person and, being raised by Governor Huckabee, is no doubt a person of high moral character and true courage. When liberals attack her because she isn’t “pretty”, they reveal how they actually feel about women; if they don’t serve the ideology, they are trash.

@Redteam: You gotta be kidding–Michelle Obama is much better looking than poor Sarah ,who I predict will be replaced by The Mooch within 60 days.

The Mooch said yesterday he’s gonna fire everybody.

@Rich Wheeler:

You gotta be kidding–Michelle Obama is much better looking

Face it Rich, you just like that ‘trannie’ look.
I predict Sarah will remain where she is. Mooch will remain where he is.

The Mooch said yesterday he’s gonna fire everybody

You don’t need to be concerned, I think you’re safe.

@Redteam: You’re damn right he won’t. The Mooch and I graduated from the same L. I. High School–62 vs 82
Obviously, you like that plump, bib overall wearing, farm girl look.

Trump–which foot was it?- the true “sissy” for lacking the cajones to fire Sessions. He’d rather publicly humiliate him. Classic bully.

@Rich Wheeler:

You’re damn right he won’t. The Mooch and I graduated from the same L. I. High School–62 vs 82

yeah, but i’ll bet he had better sense than to go to the same college you did. Your partial refund is on the way.

Trump–which foot was it?

Trump was examined by medical doctors that were testing them for military service. If people have a medical condition that prohibits them from serving, they are turned down. Do you consider everyone in that category to be draft dodgers or just Trump. For the record, it was both feet.

Obviously, you like that plump, bib overall wearing, farm girl look.

You are the only one commenting on her looks. I can see where you might not like her looks as she doesn’t fit the traditional LBGT appearance, as Mooche does. Go get em, big boy. Would you like to have had a couple of the trannie’s in your foxhole? And would you prefer the MTF trannie or the FTM trannie?

@Redteam: Actually The Mooch went to Tufts–not much–but then like BHO on to Harvard Law.

Trump –both feet bad you say??–someone oughta remind him.’

Actually The Mooch was concerned about Sarah’s looks and sent in the hair and make up team–gonna take more work I’m afraid.

As you know I applaud ANY American that wishes to serve our great country.
My problem is with cowards and bullies
And chickenhawks

Semper Fi

@Rich Wheeler:

And chickenhawks

Like Slick and Obozo? I rarely read where you discuss their military service when you mention them, but that’s about all you mention about Trump. How is his lack of military service so much worse than the other 2?

but then like BHO on to Harvard Law.

I doubt it was like BHO, he went on affirmative action, without an undergraduate degree. Money bought him love.

Actually The Mooch was concerned about Sarah’s looks and sent in the hair and make up team–gonna take more work I’m afraid.

You got a date with her, or something? I can’t think of any other reason you would be so concerned about her looks. She certainly looks good enough to answer questions at press conferences.

@Redteam: CK The definition of chickenhawk–DT BHO @Redteam: AND BC don’t fit it–guys like Cheney are chickenhawks.
The Mooch didn’t think she looked good enough so he sent in the makeover team–she’ll be gone before 60 days.
Trans gender ban to please Conservatives unhappy with his treatment of Sessions–DT thrives in self created turmoil—had dinner with The Mooch and Hannity.

@Rich Wheeler:

CK The definition of chickenhawk–DT BHO AND BC don’t fit it–guys like Cheney are chickenhawks

DT got deferment, BHO dodged draft, BC, felony draft dodger, fled to Russia to avoid draft, got pardon, DC got college deferments. How is Cheney a chickenhawk and BC is not?

CK The definition of chickenhawk

when I first read that I interpreted it as Colin Kaepernick, the definition of chickenhawk.

@Redteam: Clinton no felony–BHO–no draft—Cheney a war hawk who avoided service DT avoided service in V.N. but like BHO was against invasion of Iraq.

@Rich Wheeler:

Clinton no felony

Clinton was ordered to report and fled to Russia to avoid. He was pardoned by Jimmuh Cartuh in 1977 which allowed him to run for office. Cheney did avoid service, but with legitimate draft deferments, and was for war, so I guess by definition that would make him a chicken hawk, same as McCain singing songs at the Hanoi Hilton made him a traitor. BHO wasn’t eligible for any draft anyhow, he was Indonesian citizen.

* Bill Clinton receives pardon on January 21, 1977 from Carter.

* Bill Clinton FIRST PARDONED FEDERAL FELON ever to serve as President.

@Redteam: I say again Clinton was NOT a convicted felon and therefore didn’t need a pardon from Carter or anyone else–believe you actually know this.
You call Mac a traitor. Most Americans, including myself and President Trump, call him a HERO
We agree Cheney IS a chickenhawk

@Rich Wheeler:

The Mooch said yesterday he’s gonna fire everybody.

No, he didn’t.

@Deplorable Me: @Deplorable Me: Actually he did but I’m sure he wasn’t serious–or was he?
THE MOOCH would have been great in The Sopranos.
Scaramucci and Cuomo—bare knuckle brawl on CNN right now–two tough New York Italians head to head.

The Mooch “We’re gonna run it like New Yorkers.” ah memories

@Rich Wheeler:

I say again Clinton was NOT a convicted felon

I don’t think I ever said ‘convicted’, I think I used the term ‘pardoned felon’. He was a felon that was never prosecuted, but he was covered by the blanket pardon of Carter for ‘all draft dodgers’. Clinton was certainly included in that group. The pardon was just an assurance that the government would no longer pursue and try draft dodgers from the VN war.

You call Mac a traitor. Most Americans, including myself and President Trump, call him a HERO

I guess it depends on your definition of Hero. You seem to be using a general term, for example someone that served in military service. My definition is: Someone that reacts and performs an act that the average person would not do, such as jump on a live hand grenade. Just being in military service is honorable, but not ‘heroic’. My definition of traitor is: Someone that aids the enemy, often at the expense of his fellow military members, such as giving aid and comfort to the North Vietnamese by praising them at the expense of fellow POW’s. It is well known that McCain made several recordings that were used as propaganda and played regularly for his fellow prisoners. As I also said, under the same conditions, I may have done the same thing. Then I would have been a traitor also. Can you name one heroic act that you credit McCain for?

@Redteam: He was not a felon and one only needs a pardon from a conviction–did you get your home schooling refund–you deserve one.

You MAY have done the same thing lol

@Rich Wheeler:

@Rich Wheeler:

Hmmm, so Gerald Ford never pardoned Pres Nixon, eh? Home schooling doesn’t have a tuition, so no refund. But your school was really impressed when I told them I was home schooled and told me there would be no point in trying to avoid refunding your tuition, as they had never won against a home schooled complainant.

On this day in 1974, President Gerald Ford, who assumed office on the heels of President Richard M. Nixon’s resignation, pardons his predecessor for his involvement in the Watergate scandal.

http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/president-ford-pardons-former-president-nixon

So all these flaming libs that have been all tore up since 1974 for Ford pardoning Nixon have all been wasting their time because it never happened? Thousands of persons were draft dodgers during Viet Nam and left the country and were never ‘charged or convicted’ that received a pardon so they could return without fear of prosecution. You should know all that Rich.

You MAY have done the same thing lol

I think that anyone that attempts to make a definite statement as to what they would do if tortured, does not have any idea. I certainly think that there are conditions where anyone would talk or collaborate if conditions were right. If your child were placed in a hole in the ground with one hour air supply and you could only get them out if you talked, you’d talk. Well, I would. No man can know their limits until they are confronted.

@Rich Wheeler: Did he lie to a grand jury investigation?? Did he get a hummer in the White House?? A couple items that you must be really proud of!!
