An American Revolution

I am not sure people understand how big this thing is. I am not sure people understand how big Trump’s victory was. Donald Trump didn’t just beat Hillary. He beat everybody. It’s the damnedest thing I’ve ever seen, but there is an underlying theme and message to it all. We have just witnessed another American Revolution. This was a total repudiation by the people – and not just of Hillary.

Trump beat Hillary, sure.

He also beat obama.

He beat the pollsters.

He beat the legacy media.

He beat Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood.

He beat the DNC.

He beat Hollywood celebrities.

He beat Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen.

He beat Donna Brazile. That’s just for starters.

He also beat the GOP establishment.

He beat the Bush’s.

He beat Lindsey Graham.

Trump has ended the era of the Bush’s and the Clinton’s. Both dynasties opposed him. Soon he will begin to dismantle the damage Barack Obama has done to this country.

With Republicans maintaining control of the House and Senate, President-elect Trump would be in a position to repeal large parts of Obama’s legislative agenda, repeal his executive orders with a stroke of a pen, and install conservative Supreme Court justices.

It is a tall order.

Trump beat Trump too. People voted for him despite all of his stupid remarks. People were starving for change- for an outsider. They wanted change so badly they were able to overlook the dumb things he’s said and done. Trump even got more of the black and latino vote than did Romney. That’s astonishing.

In the end Trump became the symbol of hope to everyone who voted for him. He made them feel that they have a voice in the country again and that just maybe someone cares about them and not just Wall St and the wealthy elite. They feel like perhaps corruption in government can be ended. That’s a very potent emotion and while Trump should not be given completely free reign it’s something that Congress needs to keep in mind over the next four years. People chose Trump’s message. As long as he tries to make good on it they best help or get out of the way.

There’s a revolution happening. The damnedest thing I’ve ever seen.

Semper fi! and Happy birthday

@Curt: Thanks for corrected update. Do you know what happened to Red Team?

Kitt Why do you think Red State Arizonians voted Joe out after all these years? God forbid he shows up in DT Admin.

@Richard Wheeler: I don’t. I emailed him a few weeks ago. No reply. Not sure if he isn’t checking his email anymore or if something bad happened like bees.

@Richard Wheeler: I dont know he doesnt get good press.

@Curt: I hope he’s OK He’d be celebrating DT win.

Kitt Poor Sheriff Joe and that damn free press.

@Curt: Rich, the popular vote is totally irrelevant and you know it. Campaign strategy would be different if popular vote was the way America elects a President. Clearly little effort was made by Trumps team to campaign in California or New York. Also if popular vote was the way America did elect a President then the process of voter ID and registration would need to be effective. Clearly now they are a joke. The fact is Democrats failed to nominate a candidate that was capable of beating Trump even as bad as you never hesitate to point out he is. Also the idea of educated voters is absurd. Happy Anniversary to the US Marine Corp. Maybe someday they won’t be a part of the Navy.

Today President Elect Trump called President Obama a “Very Good Man.” Said he’s looking forward to Obama’s counsel.
Couldn’t agree more.
You think Obama was a good salesman/schmoozer wait till you see Trump in action.lol

@John Hardesty, #41:

Greg, Your ignorance of basic US political structure is showing.

People are yapping about my ignorance of this and my ignorance of that, but for the most part what’s showing are their own reading comprehension issues. No one suggested that a president is elected by majority vote.

What was pointed out is that the morally vacuous, clueless blowhard you’ll soon be installing in the nation’s highest office was not the choice of a majority of American voters. This is a fact. More than one-half of the people who voted in the presidential election think this man is the wrong choice for the office. Given Clinton’s unpopularity, that’s really saying something. Large numbers of people who don’t even like Clinton voted for her, rather than voting for Bozo the Clown.

That doesn’t change the outcome of the election, but you should recognize the fact that the Red Hat Brigade is a populace movement, not a popular movement. People holding elected offices don’t have a mandate from the people when more of them voted against their candidate than for him. What you have is an election win.

Greg, Yes. People are yapping about your ignorance because you are being ignorant.
You are ignorant because you are trying to use the total number of voters for each candidate – ie Hillary got more than Donald – to make a point.
The only point you are making is that you are being an ignorant sore loser.

Did Hillary get more votes – as total of those who voted. Yes. She did. However, it means absolutely nothing in the way we elect our President. And to keep repeating it and try to make it an issue about who won the election is truly asinine.

The 538 electoral votes – which represents each state and the population within that state – is all that matters. The majority – simple majority being 270 electoral votes out of the 538 – determined that of the two – Trump is the one that is going to be President.

Did you exercise your right to vote ? If so, you did your duty to your country. Now you have the right to grumble moan and disparage the incoming president – just like every one else will once 20 january occurs.

So stop harping on the fact about the popular vote. It has no meaning

@John Hardesty, #60:

Actually, my point is exactly what I said it was. And now, we’ve got this:

Moscow had contacts with Trump team during campaign, Russian diplomat says

Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister:

“Obviously, we know most of the people from his entourage,” Ryabkov said. “Those people have always been in the limelight in the United States and have occupied high-ranking positions. I cannot say that all of them but quite a few have been staying in touch with Russian representatives.”

I am shocked. Who ever would have thought. (Other than a bit over one-half of American voters, of course.) You didn’t look at Trump’s baggage, which was being carried behind him in plain view by a long line of porters.

@Richard Wheeler: I hope the new sheriff in town does well. It will be much easier for him as the border patrol will be able to do their jobs. 😮

Hold on… The pieces are falling into place.

The republican establishment hates Trump. Everybody knows this. I had wondered that they would support this guy in spite of loathing him, since he gave every indication that they would not be able to rein him in and make him their tool. But I was missing something:

Since they hold a majority in the Senate, they hold the investigative powers; since they control the House, they could initiate impeachment proceedings in the blink of an eye. They’ve got leverage over Trump. What they’re holding, in fact, is a club. They could quickly destroy him with any number of investigations—the Russian connection, tax fraud, foreign business entanglements, etc—and install Pence in his place. That’s why his baggage was ignored by them; it’s what they’ve got over him. Like it or not, he’s going to be their front man. He was their unwitting token, useful for winning an election. He’ll be a president on a leash with a rubber stamp in his hand.

How did I miss this? It’s suddenly so damn obvious. I guess, like everyone else, I was taken in by a bit of misdirection.

@kitt: What part of their job has the border patrol been unable to do?

Greg Wouldn’t Ryan and friends love to replace Trump with Pence–the plot thickens.

@Richard Wheeler, #64:

Greg Wouldn’t Ryan and friends love to replace Trump with Pence–the plot thickens.

They don’t have to replace Trump with Pence. I couldn’t understand why obvious problems like the Russian connection and foreign business entanglements were being ignored. They weren’t being ignored; they were played down with republican voters to win an election, while being recognized within the republican power hierarchy as the means of control. They could take Trump out with a single investigation. What would we see then? House democrats rising to his defense?

What a setup. Has Trump figured this out? Maybe he’ll be perfectly happy as a front man who gets to stand in the spotlight. He might even be granted largess in the form of not being examined too closely, because any advantage he gains in his business position would only increase the power they have over him. If Trump intends to resist, he’s going to have to quickly take out the republican establishment hierarchy, probably beginning with Paul Ryan. I don’t think he can pull it off.

@Richard Wheeler:

My favorite bumper sticker Vote Trump. Nobody Needs To Know.

Mine was “Giant Meteor 2016 – Just End It Already”

@Greg:

High crimes and misdemeanors while in office. That which precedes the acquisition of office in Trump’s case is irrelevant. Mrs clinton on the other hand would have been a different story. Had she won election and subsequently been convicted while in office, she could beimpeached. Your ignorance knows no bounds.

BTW, the establishment in DC, both parties is the problem. The fact that they may not have accordance for Trump is not news.

The leadership in the Republican party is the problem, has been for a long time….

I don’t think he would necessarily get a pass on foreign financial entanglements, serious tax problems, or having concealed relations with the Russians, and it won’t be his Democratic Party opponents who will hold all of that over his head; it will be the Republican establishment. He may turn out to be the phony anti-establishment president, taken over by the GOP hierarchy the same way the Tea Party movement was taken over. These guys haven’t gone anywhere.

@Greg:

None of which has any merits. You just pulled those out of your ass.

Oh, really. And you know this how? By asking your Magic 8-Ball? There have been abundant clues that all of the above are likely problems for months. You’ve just chosen to ignore them all. What do you think the questions involving Paul Manafort and Carter Page were all about? Do you not find Michael Flynn’s popularity with the Russians a bit odd? What do you think Donald Jr. was talking about when he mentioned huge amounts of Russian money flowing into Trump projects?

The GOP’s apparent indifference to this made little sense to me before. Now I think I understand what might be up with that. Maybe somebody has a better theory, but I’m not going for pretend none of this means anything.

@Richard Wheeler:

: Thanks for corrected update. Do you know what happened to Red Team?

Thanks for the concern RW. I’m still around. I did go into the hospital toward the end of Sept and had so repair surgery. Nothing life threatening. But those few days made me do some thinking about some things, such as commenting on this site. I decided that I would just read and not comment until after the election. The reason being that most of the arguments and discussions go no where, just round and round in backbiting and name calling. There are a few very immature souls on this site that are totally useless and their opinions are even worse. But now with the election behind us, the nation has spoken and the country has elected a new president and everyone needs to get over their crying about the results, if it wasn’t what they wanted. While there might have been a better choice than the person that won, the country elected Donald Trump and he is the president for at least 4 years. He can’t do much damage in 4 years, Obama has been in eight and it took him longer than 4 to get to the total disaster he is leaving behind. While I may resume commenting, I’m going to try to limit it to persons that I have some respect for.
I case you’re wondering, yes, I consider you a class act, even though I disagree with you politically.

Note to Curt: Thanks for your attempted correspondence, but I did not receive anything that I recognized as from you or FA.

Question: How do they know the education level of voters? No one asked me and it’s not on my registration form.

@RedTeam: Very glad you are OK!! Think I’ll step back myself–good advice.

Happy Birthday to all Marines.

Hope you enjoy the present that the voters just gave you.

@Richard Wheeler:
Happy Marine’s birthday, and Veterans Day from one Vet to another and to all the Veterans in the USA

@Richard Wheeler: Thanks for the correction. I am correct about the popular vote.

@Greg:

Put on your tin foil hat, there are black helicopters overhead….
