Baton Rouge newspaper begging Obama to visit their flood disaster

Vacation or not, a hurting Louisiana needs you now, President Obama

Now that the flood waters ravaging Louisiana are receding, it’s time for President Barack Obama to visit the most anguished state in the union.

Last week, as torrential rains brought death, destruction and misery to Louisiana, the president continued his vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, a playground for the posh and well-connected.

We’ve seen this story before in Louisiana, and we don’t deserve a sequel. In 2005, a fly-over by a vacationing President George W. Bush became a symbol of official neglect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The current president was among those making political hay out of Bush’s aloofness.

But where is he? On the 13th day of a 16 day golfing vacation

But in 2008 Obama said:

“We can talk about what happened for two days in 2005 and we should. We can talk about levees that couldn’t hold, a FEMA that seemed not just incompetent but paralyzed and powerless, about a president who only saw the people from the window of an airplane instead of down here on the ground. Trying to provide comfort and aid.”

But you know what DID prompt Obama to emerge from his vacation?

@Greg: And yet morons like you slammed Bush for his fly over for Just exactly that reason Greggie!!

Greg with his walnut sized brain dont think much becuase using his walnut brain gives him headaches

@Nanny G: Well said, sad part is Greggie really doesn’t read, just gets his talking points from the MSM libturd Press operated by Obola and Soros!! Greggie can’t even admit that Clinton, Obola, or Hilldabeast ever lied about anything!! He is one of the most pathetic individuals on these sights!!

@Common Sense, #53:

The Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, on August 18, 2016, regarding a presidential visit to the disaster area:

“It is a major ordeal, they free up the interstate for him. We have to take hundreds of local first responders, police officers, sheriffs, deputies and state troopers to provide security for that type of visit.”

“I would just as soon have those people engaged in the response rather than trying to secure the president. So I’d ask him to wait, if he would, another couple weeks.”

Trump showed up, contrary to Governor Edward’s express wishes:

La. gov tells Trump to volunteer or donate instead of coming for photo-op

The solution to being uninvited? A photo-op that shows you donating.

@Greg: But Bush showing up back in ’05 would not have been a distraction, right? That’s why he was criticized for not going, right? And I’ll bet you were leading the chorus. But now the shoe is on the other foot.

Bush is no longer president. The current Louisiana flood disaster is not Katrina. You don’t know what I said about Bush in connection with Katrina in 2005. I don’t remember myself. My only remembrance of Obama from that time is as a well-spoken, intelligent young man who gave a good speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

I don’t know why people are still fighting a rear-guard action for the Bush administration nearly 8 years later. It’s a distraction from the present. Just as the endlessly repeated, simple-minded propaganda memes are a distraction from reality. That’s how the GOP got saddled with Trump. He’s like a walking compendium of the right’s favorite propaganda memes. They’re not supporting a coherent body of policies; they’re supporting an attitude.

@Greg: ”I’d ask him to wait, if he would, another couple weeks.”

Too bad for this Democrat governor.
His desire to wait is being thrown under the bus by Obama.
He will be there on the 23rd.
IF you watched the Trump plane disembark you saw that Donald Trump brought his own security forces so that LA would NOT have to take ANY 1st responders off their duties.

@Greg:

Really? you don’t know why? Is it perhaps because Obama is still blaming all his woes on Bush. It’s still Bush’s fault that Obama had 0 growth rate last quarter.

I don’t remember the last time Obama even made a reference to the Bush administration.

The real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 1.2 percent in the second quarter of 2016.

@Greg:

The real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 1.2 percent in the second quarter of 2016.

That has been adjusted downward to 0.6 recently. But do you really consider 1.2% for a quarter as ‘good’? how about 0.6?

I don’t remember the last time Obama even made a reference to the Bush administration.

I have no suggestion on what you should do to improve your memory.

That has been adjusted downward to 0.6 recently.

Got a link for that? I’m guessing not.

@Greg:

Got a link for that?

Yes, yes I do.

Ah, then I’m sure you’ll share it.

@Greg:

Ah, then I’m sure you’ll share it.

Yes! yes I will…..

@Greg:

I don’t know why people are still fighting a rear-guard action for the Bush administration nearly 8 years later.

The entire left certainly made a big deal out of their accusations of Bush, which included racism, by the way, and then go into full excuse mode when Obama shows just how much he really cares about the welfare of people when he has no need for their votes.

The real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 1.2 percent in the second quarter of 2016.

As pathetic as that is, we have to wait a month or so and see if that is adjusted downward, as it is almost every time Obama’s economic stats are released.

@Bill:

As pathetic as that is, we have to wait a month or so and see if that is adjusted downward,

It already has been Bill, to 0.6 as I said. Saw it a couple days ago, gonna put a link up on it shortly.

The recent pattern seems to have been just the opposite: Initial quarterly GDP growth computations have subsequently been revised upward from original percentages that turned out to have been too low. Note this revision, and other revisions that are linked at the bottom of the page.

@Redteam, #66:

That must have pertained to something other than the GDP rate, or perhaps to a different quarter.

@Greg: Nope, I’m never wrong.

Your ad president has yet to achieve a 3% GDP in any quarter of his tenure

Barack Obama’s Sad Record on Economic Growth
By Louis Woodhill

On Friday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported that 2015 U.S. real GDP (RGDP) growth was 2.38%. No matter what revisions are subsequently made, 2015 will have been the tenth year in a row that RGDP growth came in at under 3.0%. The longest previous such run in U.S. economic history was only four years, and the last time that this happened was during the Great Depression (1930 – 1933).

From 1790 to 2000, U.S. RGDP growth averaged 3.79%. America needs at least 3.0% economic growth-the nation cannot defend itself and pay its bills without it. However, America’s elites have largely given up on growth, and are now distracting themselves with academic musings about “secular stagnation.”

By the way, the economic growth superstar among all U.S. presidents was none other than Rutherford B. Hayes (1877 – 1880). Hayes delivered an average of 7.71% RGDP growth, and none of his four years in office was below 3.0%.

@Greg: Greggie, if the Democrat Governor actually made this contact why did it take so long for him to tell America?? Why Greggie is because it never happened and Obola got hold of him and made him say it!! Prove me wrong Greggie.

@Bill, #70:

The linked articles reference quarters where the measured GDP growth rate proved to be less than what had previously been estimated, not quarters where an announced measured rate was revised. Estimates generally do turn out to be either high or low.

That’s the nature of estimates. They’re nothing more than educated guesses. They often tend to err on the side of optimism—unless you’re wanting to cast the economy in a bad light, of course—because there’s a psychological component to economic performance: Negative predictions tend to produce expectations and behaviors that have negative results. If you convince enough people that the stock market is about to take a huge dive, you can actually bring that very thing about.
