Obama Stays On Vacation As Louisiana Begs For Help.

Baton Rouge newspaper begging Obama to visit their flood disaster

Vacation or not, a hurting Louisiana needs you now, President Obama

Now that the flood waters ravaging Louisiana are receding, it’s time for President Barack Obama to visit the most anguished state in the union.

Last week, as torrential rains brought death, destruction and misery to Louisiana, the president continued his vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, a playground for the posh and well-connected.

We’ve seen this story before in Louisiana, and we don’t deserve a sequel. In 2005, a fly-over by a vacationing President George W. Bush became a symbol of official neglect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The current president was among those making political hay out of Bush’s aloofness.

But where is he? On the 13th day of a 16 day golfing vacation

But in 2008 Obama said:

“We can talk about what happened for two days in 2005 and we should. We can talk about levees that couldn’t hold, a FEMA that seemed not just incompetent but paralyzed and powerless, about a president who only saw the people from the window of an airplane instead of down here on the ground. Trying to provide comfort and aid.”

But you know what DID prompt Obama to emerge from his vacation?

Beat me to it!

This is the real obama- the a$$hole I keep saying he is.

I’ve seen reports of a pop-up civilian ”navy” of volunteers in boats going all over to find people who need help.
If Obama got involved he would probably put the kabosh on such ad hoc rescue efforts. You know, Code Violations and Licensing and Fees and such.

There was time for the important things- like a fundraiser

Maybe the republican-controlled Congress should come back from its own 2-month vacation and resume tending to the nation’s important business—or begin doing so, since I can’t recall a single useful thing they’ve accomplished over the past 2 years.

Obama’s RCP average job approval rating is now 51.6 percent. Congress has a current approval rating of only 12.3 percent.

@Greg:

Deeeflection.

Congressional ratings are wholly meaningless.

Obama is a disgrace to america theres flooding and riots and all this scum sucking rathole can think of is playing a few holes of golf Too bad his course dont get flooded under 12 feet of flood waters

Just these past few days –
– The Russians are staging 40,000 troops on the Ukrainian border.
– Milwaukee burns over the weekend as racial tensions all over America continue to escalate.
– 80,000 people are flooded out of their homes in Louisiana.
– Fires in Southern CA threaten more than 30,000 homes
– Tens of thousands of people are laid off from good jobs at Cisco, Intel, IBM, and other tech firms.

Reporter #1: “Did you see see that putt Obama made on 18? He’s incredible!”
Reporter #2: “No wonder he’s more popular than ever!”
Reporter #3: “Also, Donald Trump’s a RACIST!”

I can’t even imagine how loud the screaming would be if we had a Republican President…

@Spurwing Plover, #6:

Does the right ever do anything other than blaming and complaining?

Your people have had controlling majorities of both the House and the Senate going on 2 years now, and they still haven’t gotten around to voting on whether or not they should authorize military action against ISIS. They whine about deficits, but support a guy for president with a tax plan tax experts agree would add another $10 Trillion to the national debt. They claim the economy is presently a disaster—which it is not—while supporting a guy who claims the Mother Of All Recessions is inevitable, and proposes a variety of economic policies that experts predict would likely make that very thing happen.

I haven’t got a clue what they’re thinking—assuming they’re thinking at all—unless triggering a variety of disasters somehow fits into their plan. Some of them might actually be that crazy, imagining that tearing everything down would somehow allow them to set up the world as they think it should be.

@Greg:

They claim the economy is presently a disaster—which it is not—while supporting a guy who claims the Mother Of All Recessions is inevitable, and proposes a variety of economic policies that experts predict would likely make that very thing happen.

We are due for another recession. It is pretty much inevitable that the next president, whoever it is, will preside over it and – if it is a Republican – will take the blame for it. If HRC wins – hell they will try to blame Bush again.

As for the current economy, the only way unemployment (U-3, the measure most generally given in the media) is as low as it is is that the Administration took nearly 10 million people out of the working population calculations – based on nothing whatsoever. The real U-3 unemployment rate (as measured over the previous 25 years or so) is somewhere between 10 and 11%.

I have some personal experience with this. I have been unemployed for just over a year (just found a job this week, finally), and from friends who work in the state government, I happen to know for a fact that I only qualified as “unemployed” according to current BLS methodology for a period of 3 months out of 13. For the other 10 months, I was part of the population the current administration counts as “not in the workforce, and not seeking employment”.

And then you have the fact that millions of jobs have been converted from high-paying professional or skilled jobs to low-skill jobs.

Given that our real employment numbers are shit. and that GDP growth over the past 8 years has also been shit, I tend to agree that the next recession (which again, is inevitable) is going to be very bad.

Oh, and by the way – my new job pays half of what I used to make. Yeah – great economy.

@Greg: Greg’s Thought Process…

“Hmmm…blame Congress….check.”

“If Senate and Congress didn’t “do” anything according to CNN, say they didn’t do anything…OR…if they did something, say it was wrong and bad and catastrophic…and then say they didn’t “do” anything after all…”

“accuse the prez candidate for the Republicans…doesn’t matter who it is…of being poised to cause a calamity that hasn’t happened, thus spreading fear….check…”

“Oh yeah, make sure I reiterate that those I disagree with are crazy, and just wanting to make the world the way they want it…as I continually lobby for forcing people to make the world the way I want it…check.”

“AAAAND…finish with a soft statement that ALMOST frames me as just a normal, educated guy wanting peace for all…all except those I don’t like…which I wage a holy campaign of self-righteous hatred against.”

“Done…”

*picks up check from the DNC*

Greg why was 2% growth under Bush a disaster and 1.8 growth under Obama booming? At that time you could work over 30 hours and your employer was not obligated to give you shitty healthcare with a huge deductible, Now you have to juggle 2 jobs unless your employer is replacing you with self checkout machines as manufacturing jobs are scarce, dont even speak to all the college grads deep in debt that cant find gainful employment, they would have been further ahead asking if they would like fries with that, maybe they could become management in 4 years, and no huge student loan debt. Keep your head up Rachel Madcows butt, you wont be aware or learn anything. Check that on politifact.

Seriously, if a guy is working on lowering his handicap, he can’t let the world’s trivialities interfere with his golf game. President Obama has his priorities.

Obviously the only way to fix this is to give the wealthiest people in the country millions more each per year in new tax cuts, right?

The additional $10 trillion in debt most tax expert agree this will produce apparently isn’t something we need to worry about.

Nor is the deep recession that experts also predict would result from Trump’s loony grab-bag of quick, simple-minded fixes something we need to worry about, either.

How is this not relevant? Are you simply ignoring all of the warnings, pretending they’re only coming from people on the left?

@Greg: So you’re ok with Obozo ignoring the problems of the country as long as he doesn’t miss a tee time. I’m sure you’d raise hell if he didn’t get to play golf.

@I haven’t got a clue: Yep that about says it all ” I haven’t got a clue” says Greg

@Greg:

The additional $10 trillion in debt most tax expert agree this will produce apparently isn’t something we need to worry about.

The 10Trillion plus that Obozo has added doesn’t seem to be a deal breaker with you, why would it matter just because it wouldn’t be a Dimocrat doing it?

@Greg: The way to fix it is to eliminate corporate tax, get the big buck people back into the states paying income taxes, and increasing employment of other educated people. Taxing corporations out of the country has the best unemployed without options so they stopped looking. Then as much as it pains your President enforce the immigration laws on the books, no welfare or any benefits including voting for illegals. Prosecute those that hire illegals. No need to stop immigration need for control this open border idea he has is killing entry level jobs for our kids. Too many uneducated laborers is depressing the job market to the point where no I am not killing myself for minimum wages. Limit the amount of welfare a person can collect without work. its the simple solutions Ms. Madcow doesn’t realize so you wont. Want to be a sanctuary city go without state or federal aid, you are on your own, suck it up buttercup you are breaking the law.

@DrJohn:

There was time for the important things- like a fundraiser

Hmmm…. kinda like the day after Benghazi. Prioritize… prioritize.

@Greg:

Obama’s RCP average job approval rating is now 51.6 percent.

But, with a lapdog media that is 100% cheering Obama 100% of the time, why isn’t his approval higher? According to the media, the economy is booming, terrorism is on the run and the Iran deal was great. Could it be that more and more people are opening their eyes and seeing reality?

Your people have had controlling majorities of both the House and the Senate going on 2 years now,

For two years, YOUR people had the House, Senate and White House. What did THEY do? The economy sputters along at 1% growth, worker participation embarrassingly low, health care collapsing and racial tensions at an all-time high, driven largely by the suffering minorities in the Obama economy.

Obviously the only way to fix this is to give the wealthiest people in the country millions more each per year in new tax cuts, right?

Did you miss the part about EVERYONE getting a tax cut? Look at it this way; if taxes are reduced, liberals cheating on their taxes, like Buffett, Gore, Kerry, Sharpton, Bono, Springsteen, Soros, Touré Neblett, Joy-Ann Reid, Melissa Harris-Perry and others, aren’t cheating AS MUCH!

I know liberals don’t comprehend economics much, but the cuts help small businesses, the source of many potential jobs.

The additional $10 trillion in debt most tax expert agree this will produce apparently isn’t something we need to worry about.

So, is it only if a Republican is President when you worry about debt? Obama added over $10 trillion to the debt and if Obamacare is left unchecked, it will add another $4 trillion. Bernie’s plan would have added $19 trillion. Hillary’s $1 trillion in new taxes will kill an already mortally wounded economy.

Don’t try to convince anyone you suddenly worry about debt. It smells insincere.

@Redteam, #16:

Do you know what a tu quoque fallacy is? If you did, you might stop putting forward that particular b.s. argument.

If it was a mistake to run up $10 trillion in debt once, that doesn’t justify making the same mistake a second time. Logic isn’t a fancy way to win arguments. It’s how stupid behavior is avoided.

@Bill, #18:

Did you miss the part about EVERYONE getting a tax cut?

I’m supposed to stop believing a tax cut that bumps the debt up another $10 trillion is stupid because I’ll get my own cut of the bribe? Actually, my vote isn’t for sale. Which is more than you seem to be suggesting about your own. Republicans are fiscal phonies. They claim to value fiscal responsibility, but they only talk the talk. They only want to make spending cuts when they’re at somebody else’s expense. They’ve got this fantasy that you can balance the budget while cutting taxes. It has never worked out that way. Not even once. And it never will, because it’s a fantasy.

@Greg: It is not about approval ratings given by those who get free stuff, it is about a man doing his job.

@Greg: Actually, it worked in IN and WI. most recently. Your knowledge of economics is about as good as your knowledge of history.

@Greg:

If it was a mistake to run up $10 trillion in debt once,

The problem is, you don’t think it was a mistake for Obozo to run up the debt and put everybody out of work. It was your plan all along. If you get your way, you’ll elect Hillary and double the debt rapidly and won’t have any problems with it.

@Greg: Greggie, what does the Republicans in congress have to do with Obola playing golf on vacation rather than visiting Louisiana ?? You are the most amazing POS libturd when it comes to reality. What have Republicans done, they have attempted to prevent Obola from total destruction of America. They have failed unfortunately but to blame them for his actions?? Greggie, did you blame Bush for the hurricane?? Never mind I know the answer and you will just lie as usual!!

@Redteam, #22:

The problem is, you don’t think it was a mistake for Obozo to run up the debt and put everybody out of work.

Your problem is that your remembrance of recent history is also a complete fantasy. The economic train wreck that left millions American workers unemployed began in December 2007. 2.6 million Americans lost their jobs during the course of 2008, with 524,000 losses in the month of December 2008 alone. Obama didn’t take office until January 2009.

He didn’t crash the economy. He got stuck with clean-up duty, and the job of putting things back together again. He also had to figure out how to do that with two wars already in progress that were being run on borrowed money, declining federal revenue that was falling through the floorboards, and state and municipal governments so broke that they couldn’t continue to pay for basic services like schools, hospitals, and police and fire departments.

Those are the facts. Those people who deny them tend to be the same people trying to claim that the current economy is a total disaster. They’re trying to sell another round of the same policies that screwed things up the last time.

@Greg: And yet Greggie if they where so bad, why did they beat the pants of the Democrats??

@Greg: And he failed. Totally failed. Worse, he failed because his liberal ideology was more important than jobs for Americans.

He took out a trillion dollar loan (sarcastically called “stimulus”) and used it, not to rebuild infrastructure and create jobs, as advertised, but to repay campaign loyalty to unions and keep his donors happy. Instead of boosting the economy, he signed the law that most devastated economic growth. Instead of promoting growth, he passed regulations and taxes that strangled growth.

Now, without having to take time out of his play-time to pander for the next election, he golfs instead of even the usual liberal feigning of sympathy for the Louisiana flood victims or the victims of his own racial strife he created in Baton Rouge.

Failure is his legacy.

@Greg:
Were you this apoplectic in 2008 when you went into the voting booth to pull the lever for a man who would run up the debt by 10 trillion in 8 years?

TTL Obama is ignoring the people of Baton Rouge, everything he puts his hand to is a disaster, LA will pull it together they are Americans, If the media will stay on this story the rest of the US will also provide assistance, just keep the Clintons away from any of the charity funds or they will all still be living in tents and trailers 5 years from now.

Obama’s cheap-labor political policies, have left African-Americans in Milwaukee even poorer in 2014 than in 2009.
That’s a fact.
Federal data shows the median household income for African-Americans in Milwaukee during June 2014 was $26,067, according to the federal government’s American Community Survey.
That’s 11.6 percent lower than 2009 income.

40% of Milwaukee’s 600,000 residents are black.

So how many extra low wage workers has Obama’s immigration policy sent into Milwaukee?
We don’t know exactly.

Wisconsin went from having fewer than 100,000 Hispanics to having more than 350,000 in recent years, if that’s any indication.

Black employment, during those same years went from 73.3% (compared with an entire state average of 76.8%) down to 56.7% more recently.

Obama said he prefers brown & black to black in his book, The Audacity of Hope.
Later he added, ”Sometimes we get attached to our particular tribe, our particular race, our particular religion, and then we start treating other folks differently… that, sometimes, has been a bottleneck to how we think about immigration,” as he gave amnesty and work permits to 800,000 illegal immigrants since 2012.

Ah, memory.
I remember, during the Reagan years, the Laffer curve. Laffer claimed that lowering taxes would increase tax revenue.
He was mocked and derided.
Yet the economy boomed under Reagan.
So much for the authority of pundits.
Nothing has changed. Clinton will tax us to Venezuela.
Trump will unleash capitalism.
NO choice here. Starve or thrive.

I see where Obama will be viewing the flood damage probibly to find our how many golf courses were flooded

@Spurwing Plover, #31:

Trump flew down on his campaign jet to pass out some signed hats today. I understand this helped with disaster relief efforts in Louisiana dramatically. A lot of people had lost their hats as a result of the flooding.

Do you have any clue how seriously disruptive it is when a president or presidential candidate shows up in a disaster area with their security and support entourage and a hundred or so members of the press in tow?

@Greg:

Do you have any clue how seriously disruptive it is when a president or presidential candidate shows up in a disaster area with their security and support entourage and a hundred or so members of the press in tow?

I wonder if you were one of those who screamed about Bush not caring when he overflew the area immediately after Katrina but did not land. Hypocritical double standard…

The issue with Katrina wasn’t that no one showed up to pass out hats. It was that a serious coordinated response to the disaster was so slow in coming. Criticism wasn’t directed exclusively at the federal response, either. The local government, led by Democratic mayor Ray Nagin, also took a lot of heat.

@Greg:

trying to claim that the current economy is a total disaster.

No one has to ‘claim’ the econ is a disaster, all they have to do is look at what’s going on.

@Greg: Well, excluding the fact that Bush ordered the aid ‘before’ Katrina ever hit. The CinC gives the orders, (which Obozo hasn’t done yet), the generals carry them out. Bush gave the appropriate orders ‘before’ the event. Obozo is still on the golf course. Though I hear he has promised to look at films next week when he gets back to DC.

@Greg: He was helping distribute water and throngs were cheering for him. Obama will get around to seeing how they are doing as soon as he rests up from his vacation. Hillary expects a huge contribution for her to show up and all the press has to be roped off.

The disaster with Katrina was a Democrat governor and mayor of New Orleans who made no preparations and would not make the required requests for federal aid to be deployed… until it was too late.

@Redteam, #35:

Overall, the national economy is actually doing better than average, compared with the past few decades. Economic booms are not the norm. They’re never sustainable when they’re built on high levels of consumption that rely on the rapid expansion of consumer debt, as we saw during the first decade of the 21st Century. People were maxing out their credit cards like there was no tomorrow. Such booms are always followed by a bust.

@Greg: No it isn’t and this administration has been trying to lower expectations and induce people to believe this weak economy is the “new normal”.

It isn’t. It’s pathetic and it’s all because liberals cannot grow the economy while socializing the nation.

Obama is, however, keeping an eye on LA’s charities and volunteers.
Don’t they dare discriminate!
He will ”get them” later, if he hears reports that they did.

Meanwhile he was with them in spirit as he hit the water hazard on the 7th hole.

And one of his Dem buddies in LA took to the cameras and told the media it was ”better” if Obama didn’t come.

@Bill, #39:

All of the numbers say you’re wrong. You, of course, respond by claiming the numbers are all fixed, though there’s no indication of any significant change that has been made in the way economic indicators are being calculated. Which basically means you’ve got nothing to back up your assertion in the first place. You just keep repeating it over and over.

I think the right is now living in a world of total negativity. If you believe them, nothing is going well. They’ve been that way ever since Obama was elected, when they publicly proclaimed their primary mission in life was to assure the failure of his administration. They created a situation where they can only succeed if Obama fails. If he attempts anything to benefit the economy, he must fail. If he takes on ISIS, he must fail. If he attempts to address the fact that millions of Americans have no health insurance, he must fail. Etc etc.

They’ve now got Mr. Negativity as their presidential candidate, whose unstated premise is that America is no longer great. That’s an interesting opinion, coming from a guy who became a billionaire in the same country he claims is a total disaster.

@Greg:

though there’s no indication of any significant change that has been made in the way economic indicators are being calculated.

That’s correct, the Dims use the approved “Dimocrat Formula to Economic Success” It’s listed under “BullSh*t”

Now, where were those figures that showed a great economic success of Obama?

As I told Greg above, they’re listed under the column titled “BullSh*t”

@Greg: Trump flew down on his campaign jet to pass out some signed hats today. I understand this helped with disaster relief efforts in Louisiana dramatically. A lot of people had lost their hats as a result of the flooding.

But, actually…..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-fF-Cxhz_E

Days before candidate Donald Trump announced his intention to visit the flood ravaged area of Louisiana, he had already put in place a donation (a full 18 wheeler) of supplies for the victims of the flood.
CNN accidentally stumbled upon the donation, and Brooke Baldwin reported on it during that 90 second segment.
Don’t worry, Greg, they won’t air it again.

@Nanny G:

CNN accidentally stumbled upon the donation, and Brooke Baldwin reported on it during that 90 second segment.

I’m sure that CNN director has been fired by now.

Brownie Jeh, you’re doing a heck of a job.”

@Nanny G:

This is funny, in a way only Democrats can be funny:

So true, Obama is Soooooo busy. How many holes of golf did he get in today? Funny when the shoe is on the other foot. Bush, at least, took the time to fly over Katrina, Obama promises to play a round for the flood victims both Sat and Sunday.

RW, what do you think about this.
Thank Goodness, Obama has recognized that he is needed!

President Obama has refused so far to survey the Louisiana flood disaster, but he did let state and local officials know that he’s watching to make sure they don’t engage in racial discrimination.
In a 16-page guidance issued Tuesday, the Obama administration, led by the Justice Department, warned Louisiana recipients of federal disaster assistance against engaging in “unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin (including limited English proficiency).”

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/19/obama-offends-louisiana-flood-victims-me/

Obama does recognize that we now have a Dimocrat governor, so maybe that’s why he thought it was necessary to say that.

@Nanny G: @Redteam: This is like Benghazi, IRS, Obamacare, Iran ransom and Fast and Furious; Democrats just keep throwing excuses against the wall until one sticks and compliant, willing and loyal lemmings eat it up.

Yes, Bush used the reason that he didn’t want to disrupt relief efforts for flying over and getting an overview of the disaster and was eviscerated for it. Now, others invent the same excuse for Obama to try and give him the opportunity to squeeze in one more round of golf.

Come on, people…. face the facts. Unless he needs the votes, Obama does not give one shit about anything. He cares enough about his legacy to stop golfing long enough to go squeeze more cash out of their crony capitalist buddies, but go bump around with a bunch of displaced, un-bathed dirty Cajuns? Put on his concerned face and maybe even squeeze out a crocodile tear for the cameras?Yeah, right. There’s a tee time to be met somewhere.
