At the beginning of April I wrote an article here on FA stating that “There is no deal. There never will be a deal.” I also wrote, “. . . lying, cheating, fabricating, deception, and obstruction are all part of the process when egos are determined to achieve legacies.” Today Obama announced that he had a deal. And again I write, NO, he doesn’t.
Ayatollah Khamenei will not be a signatory to this Iranian fleecing of the Obama Administration, plus, he will not allow any inspections of his military or technological facilities. Period. And the claims of being able to ‘inspect’ with notice are lies. Iran has been given the ability to delay inspections by calling for arbitration. Arbitration by whom you might ask? From a committee that represents the UN Security Council and includes Iran. That should work out well.
The media, however, is pretending that the West will have unfettered access. Not from the U.S. mind you, because Americans are not and will not be welcome in Iran. What about ballistic missiles capable of delivering dirty bombs? Don’t ask. That would be too much for these airheads to negotiate on our behalf. As I wrote in November 2013 about this potential deal, “So what could go wrong? Everything. How do we know? Simple: Liars doing deals with Liars and claiming Liars can be trusted leads to disaster for the unsuspecting.“
Hundreds of billions in new revenue will flow into Khamenei’s coffers, and in less than 10 years he will have his nuclear weapons. Obama stated that he wants Iran to be the power in the region. With intercontinental missiles, Iran’s reach would stretch well beyond the “region.”
All members of the media seem anxious to point out that sanctions can be reimposed if Iran doesn’t live up to its part in this deal (deception), that is not possible. You can’t get the West to organize a sandwich, much less move quickly on imposing sanctions. Once you open flow of goods and cash across the Iranian border, stopping that movement will be a Herculean endeavour. Europe is already licking its lips at the possibilities of open trade with Iran, and Putin is already spending the billions he’ll rake-in from arms sales, as well as from nuclear facility and element sales.
Iran has never demonstrated any capacity that it could be trusted, and yet Obama’s actions today support and fund a Sharia law commanded Islamic Caliphate, a dictatorship controlled by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Obama is spiking the ball on his successful aid and financing of the biggest exporter of terrorism on earth. Can anyone explain his purpose with this rush into a non-deal? And the media applauds with mindless abandon.
When there was the opportunity to show support of Iranians demonstrating in the streets of Teheran, Obama was silent. Now he and Kerry sanctimoniously excuse their own insanity with, “The alternative is war.” No it isn’t. Continued squeezing of the Caliphate’s stranglehold through sanctions is working. It gave Iranians hope that financial attack on Iran might work in the long term. Now the flow is billions will fuel the Ahatollah’s ego, power and reach.
The nature of this regime will not change. Count the days until the results of that lunacy’s reach lands on our doorstep.
A constituent of the vast baby boomer generation with a career which has been fortunate to know the ponderous corporate worlds, as well as the intimately pressurized, and invigorating entrepreneurial domains of high tech and venture capital, I have harvested my share of mistakes meandering through corridors of enterprise from Silicon Valley, to London and endless, colourful, sometimes praetorian points in between. The voyage has provided an abundance of fodder for a pen yielding to an inquisitive keyboard, a foraging mind, and a passionate spirit.
Whether political or business or social or economic or personal, is it not all political? We have a deal; of course Neville had a deal as well. His deal was to avoid war and assure “Peace in our Time”.
Will Obama’s simpleton approach to foreign policy make him the laughing stock of the world or will the world hold him responsible for the inevitable nuclear proliferation of the Middle East?
Regardless of the consequences, we must admit, Obama has a deal with Iran; not a good deal, but it is a deal and now we will see how many millions will be killed when nuclear terrorism is unleashed.
@Skook: #1
“. . simpleton approach” is right.
My sense is that Obama has a deal in his own mind, having succeeded in codling together a scheme that supports Iran’s surge as a global power, however, I contend that without Khamenei’s signature, and his being seen shaking hands with Obama, there’s in fact no deal. Khamenei will never debase himself. It will be business as usual on the nuclear front for Khamenei, but with much more cash to do it with. Obama bent over the United States.
Additionally, Iran’s fresh claim that it has, “never been after atomic bombs,” poses an insurmountable problem for inspectors. Since Iran claims it has never done research for such, there will be nothing to inspect, as is supposedly required before sanctions are lifted — a few crumbs will be disclosed to satisfy a report, and nothing more.
Iran will stand firm on this, and will stonewall endlessly. So, nothing to see here, and Obama will give it a pass since he will have too much to lose by insisting on it. He doesn’t want to see it.
With Iranian born and communist raised Valerie Jarret as Obama’s chief advisory and mentor, why is anyone surprised? One wonders what Lurch gains from giving aid and comfort to an enemy.
@Ditto:
That is nothing new for that traitorous SOB
And now a new nuclear arms race will begin in the middle east as the Saudis, among others, will go shopping for one.
Iran never attacked the United States or sent terrorists abroad to wreak havoc on our society. Secondly, Iran has no desire to see itself eradicated. Thirdly, Iran has every right to be upset with our meddling in their affairs (see 1953 coup and the U.S.S. Vincennes shooting down their airliner). Fourth, Iran’s population is not at all like the Wahabbists of Saudi Arabia. If we stay out of their affairs and allow them to heal economically, odds are that its theocratic elements, with increased Western influence, will become less powerful. And finally, Iran is surrounded by nations with nuclear power. Why is it okay when Israel, India and Pakistan have nuclear capabilities while Iran is just a sitting duck among nations that are more hostile than they are?”

@Skook: Without the delay that Chamerblain got Germany probably would have rolled over England That deal allowed England time to rearm especially with Spitfires
@JisterJ:
Iran provided materials, weapons and training to terrorists that killed or maimed hundreds of our soldiers. Of course, people like you don’t care about that or them (as witnessed by your endless excuses and lies about the failure of the VA OR Obama pulling out of Iraq and allowing ISIS to revoke the victory we had won), so what else is new?
The government that was overthrown by the military was RESTORED in 1953. Iran sent an airliner, with transponders OFF out over the fleet, directly at the Vincennes, ignoring radio warnings. Again, you make excuses for terrorists that ignore the value of life in order to try and justify the failure of an idiot. Why?
Israel is who is surrounded by hostile nations; Iran has SWORN to “wipe Israel off the map”. This seems to be Obama’s goal as well, since he is more than happy to facilitate Iran in its quest.
There is something terribly wrong when you give a sworn enemy everything they could hope for despite the fact that you could wipe them off the map. Image over substance as usual. Given all of Obama’s other “successes”, one can only wonder if we will see a repeat of Odoacer when he declared that the Roman Empire no longer existed in the west. Just substitute America for Rome.
Obama has stated on several occasions he is a muslim. Valerie Jarret has stated she wants to turn the US into a muslim country. Their dreams are becoming reality. We need to get this man out of office ASAP before he does any more damage.
Actually if someone or some group would have the cajones to prove he was never qualified to be president in the first place, all his orders, signatories, court appointments etc. would become null and void!
And Carter is the buffoon that got all this started by kicking the shah out of Iran.

@Budvarakbar:
Ah, found what I believe is at least part of the answer to my question. The rigor faced tottering fool thinks that he will be rewarded with a Nobel Peace Prize for his mishandling and for destabilizing the region by facilitating weapon shipments to Iran and helping it to become a nuclear power..
Obama’s pretence that if Iran cheats we always have the option of going to war is a lie that apparently resonates with the unthinking.
Once Iran has nuclear capacity, which it is months away from, how do you go to war with another NUCLEAR POWER?
You can’t!
Today’s spewing of lies on top of lies continued unabated. Obama’s additional claim that he has stopped Iran from acquiring nuclear capacity is a lie.
Regardless what we do, Iran is now guaranteed acquisition of nuclear power. And he’ll stand on guard to ensure it, including militarily preventing Israel from taking action.
Why was this a good idea again?
The good news keeps coming. Obama is grateful to Putin for his help in getting a “strong” deal done with Iran.
Putin knows Iran will NOT comply, however, this deal makes his life so much easier, moving arms etc.
Putin must be laughing himself silly.
@john: Now, why didn’t William L. Shirer figure that out? What an idiot!
I have to say, john, beyond any doubt, you are first person EVER to have found a positive in Britain and France handing the Sudetenland over to Hitler; hell, even HITLER was pissed about it… he wanted a WAR!!
You keep on trying to rationalize something positive into one of Obama’s blunderous disasters. You just may hit it out of the park one of these days.
Now, where can we get us some of them Spitfires while we are waiting on Iran to cap a nuke on Israel?
@James Raider: Hell, yeah!! Putin gets to sell Iran military hardware and be their new best buddies! Obama is doing a great job making the world safer!
He probably did those 4 US hostages he ignored and left there a favor; Iran is probably the safest place to be now.
@James Raider, #14:
It’s a good idea because it will roll Iran’s nuclear program back, greatly reduce their existing stockpiles of enriched uranium, and provide a higher degree of visibility to make certain that these things actually happen. If they don’t happen, we’ll still have the same alternatives open to us that we have now.
There are some serious problems with those alternatives, aren’t there? Namely:
1. Sanctions have not stopped Iran. Getting more sanctions won’t either, and while we piddle around doing it Iran’s nuclear program could quickly move to completion. Then we would be negotiating with a state that already possesses nuclear weapons.
2. Military strikes risk a war that could easily become a total catastrophe, and they might not achieve their objective.
The deal is smarter. It buys time. During that time Iran will be busy with ISIS, which is to our advantage. Iran’s leaders will also have time to consider that completion of their own nuclear weapons program would result in a nuclear Saudi Arabia. Israel already has nukes. They might even realize the obvious: Their program is an existential threat to themselves.
I don’t see how war with Iran could possibly end well for the United States. It would most likely be one war too many, ultimately costing us our dominant position in the world and ruining us financially. All stability would be lost in the Middle East. China and Russia would soon dominate Europe and Asia. If someone sees how it could end to our lasting advantage, please enlighten me.

You can just hear the discussion that took place between Putin and Teheran:
“Keep pushing, Obama is a wimp. He’s asking for my help. Even I can’t believe it. He wants a deal so bad that he’ll cave in. I’ll tell you when to back off, because we have to get this done before too much time passes. I can’t believe you’re getting away with this, but it’s impossible for the next President to be as naive and incapable as this one. . . . . OK, yah, no problem, so I’ll tell him he needs to back off on the inspections. . . . . . No, no, tell Kerry that you won’t talk about the hostages. Just shout at him when you do it. He’ll flinch and crawl under the table. . . . . Your missiles? Yah, yah, do the same thing. Just yell louder. He’ll cave. Look, I keep telling you, Obama wants you to be a nuclear power. He thinks he’s negotiating for peace. BTW, can you believe what he did in Cuba? Castro can’t believe it. So don’t worry. Keep pushing. You can get anything you want. You know that you’ll be able to get around the UN Security Council to delay inspections for as long as you need. We’ll help you. . . . Hey, I gotta go. He’s on the other line. Probably wants to know how you feel about him.”
@James Raider: Shades of Bob Newhart
there are like 200 countries on planet but aside from the Sunni countries that paid for 9/11 ,Al Qaeda, and ISIS, only one, Israel is against this Iran agreement
All the Europeans including those with our special relationships Great Britain and France are in favor of it.
The countries that we owe the most money to are all in favor of it
@Greg:
All of the above has already happened, or is in process…because we pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan…
Our lasting advantage (the primacy of the US military and our willingness to us it) has already been forfeited. Get with the times, junior.
Consider yourself enlightened…
Yet another slap in the face to those of us who served in GWOT, especially the ones who paid the ultimate price. No surprise here. I’m sure everyone on the left who never served there will make excuses though, starting with it was Bush’s fault that Iran had a hand in killing those Americans.
http://www.militarytimes.com/story/military/capitol-hill/2015/07/14/iran-linked-to-deaths-of-500-us-troops-in-iraq-afghanistan/30131097/
@bwax: Wow, you really are a knuckle dragger aren’t you? Lol!
@Budvarakbar: Funny how Obama got Putin to get Syria to stand down. Nice try.
Funny how the right wasn’t outraged when Reagan gave Iran weapons and Bush failed in his threats to stop North Korea from getting a nuke. They’re just twisting and turning that Obama is earning is Nobel Peace Prize.
Perhaps Obama’s acolytes can explain to the rest of us why he finds it necessary to gift $150 BILLION dollars stolen from American taxpayers, to Iran.
Is it because he wishes to put our Navy in Persian Gulf at risk?
Is it because he feels Khamenei is in urgent need of more modern anti-missile or anti-aircraft systems?
Is it because he is convinced that Khamenei will like him so much more if he purchase the latest nuclear technology to make Iran the regional leader?
. . . Just asking. Does he really despise his Nation that much?
Hmm, perhaps he feels Khamenei needs more of those high powered bullets that shot a young demonstrator in the head a few years back.
@James Raider, #27:
The money didn’t come from U.S. taxpayers. It’s money already belonging to Iranian interests that was frozen in international accounts as part of the sanctions. We took their money.
I’ve seen this show before. It does not end well.

@Greg:
Obama has gone ahead and done that without war. I guess he saved lives in the process, huh?
@JisterJ:
What is funny (or sad) Jester, is that you have no idea of history. Reagan was severely rebuked by both parties for his deal with Iran; it’s just that he deflected much of the harm by taking full responsibility for it all… something a liberal would know nothing about. Further, CLINTON made the deal with North Korea, not Bush. And, though they lied and went nuclear anyway, you ignorant leftists never learn from experience.
Obama can have all the Nobel Peace Prizes you idiots want to give him. Kerry, too. They have been rendered meaningless and worthless.
obama keeps telling us that his intention is to turn the USA into a muslim country, but few are listening. How much more does he have to do to show what his real intention is?
@Bill: #30
No kidding.
Any good negotiator knows you have to negotiate from strength or perceived strength. Obama did neither.
While he was at the table getting slapped in the mouth by Iranian negotiators, Iran continued to extract blood from America with such minor ordnance as IEDs. Never mind the fact that it holds hostages, Iran STILL continues its bitch-slapping, marching on to kill Americans.
NOT part of this agreement? No quid pro quo? How is it possible that anyone can defend this disgraceful and pathetically degrading lay-down of America’s honour? Oh, yah, . . . . it’s payback for its supposed colonialism.
@JisterJ:
You need to stop with the crack.
Iran attacked the US embassy back when Carter was president, taking Americans hostage for over 400 days. That was an invasion of sovereign US territory.
Iran is the foremost sponsor of muslim terrorism in the world.
Iran was giving aid in the form of training the Taliban on building shaped charge IEDs against US forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, as any veteran of those wars can tell you was part of our briefings on IEDs upon arriving in those countries during the GWOT deployments.
What was it…2 years ago the Iranian navy boarded a US navy vessel in international waters?
Don’t try spewing that “Iran hasn’t attacked the US” here.
“Can anyone explain his purpose with this rush into a non-deal?”
Yes.
James Raider’s problem is that he doesn’t think like an Islamist/communist.
I agree that this is a non-deal. But it creates theatrical distractions to the actual goal, which is to help Iran get a bunch of nukes. Iran will hide them in shipping containers. Iran has already experimented with submersible, self-propelled shipping containers.
The simple explanation for Obama’s Behavior
is that Obama was raised as an extreme leftist and Islamist sympathizer who is just doing what his beliefs dictate.
The third world are victims of capitalist imperialism, and Islamists are freedom fighters. America must be weakened because that will empower third-world socialism/Islam.
Once Iran has more nukes they will transfer dozens of nukes to the MB and other terrorist partners for movement through Mexico into the US.
They will hide them in shipping containers. That’s why Obama is obsessed with keeping the Mexican border open.
With nukes in major US cities, Iran can bring the US to it’s knees, just by detonating one. And to Obama, that’s a good thing. Iran and the MB will hold a knife to the throat of the USA.
Remember, Obama he is a strong supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Valerie Jarrett (who looks and acts like Obama’s mother) was born in Iran. Her family has deep communist roots. The MB is so closely enmeshed with Iran that they have their own quasi-embassy in Tehran. The MB has a strong presence in the US.
This is a theory. Does any other theory fit Obama’s actions better?
Damn. I guess George W. Bush shouldn’t have opened the U.S border to Mexican trucks.
@DemocracyRules: #4
. . . . was my attempt at sardonic sarcasm. And you’re right, . . . I don’t think like an Islamist or a communist or a socialist.
I doubt that there’s a belief system Obama’s narcissism would deign follow. It would not be a surprise, however, if we discovered him to be an atheist. Nevertheless, his retaliation on America for what he perceives as the sins of its past is unrelenting.
HOT OFF THE PRESS:
SUSAN RICE ADMITS SECRET ‘SIDE DEALS’ WITH IRAN
Who doesn’t like a “secret” deal?
Translation:
Obama/Jarrett/Rice, “America, you are too stupid to know the full extent of this deal. You wouldn’t understand it. You wouldn’t support it. Oh, and again, you’re too dumb.”
@James Raider: And to Congress; “you can vote on THAT deal, but THESE are the SECRET deals you know nothing about and CAN’T represent the citizens on.”
Obama is unConstitutional, lying, corrupt scum.
@Greg:
Who ever envisioned such an idiot as Obama would ever come along and get elected?
