Well THAT Was a Slow News Week. (Guest Post)

By 15 Comments 1,806 views

Prior to the string of massive rulings by the Supreme Court that started on Thursday, the news cycle was mostly dominated by some controversy regarding a symbol from a war that was fought 150 years ago. It’s a good thing it was such a slow news week, but in case you missed these trivial, non-newsworthy items..,

The UN has decided that the use of civilians as human shields is now an acceptable tactic in warfare.

That OPM hack that has compromised so many government personnel and contractors who serve our country – it’s even worse than you thought.

But the good news is – the people who were responsible for safeguarding the information? Their failure is not their fault!

The lies that were used to shove Obamacare up into us? Now there is no question about it – and the left thinks it’s hilarious!

Meanwhile, another week, another Clinton scandal.

We had a “trade deal” that was so great it had to be kept secret, and was finally forced on us, thanks to Obama’s congressional allies, the Republicans?

And John Boehner focused on his true enemies on Capitol Hill – Republicans who voted to protect the American people.

Apparently the only people who still think that the president’s plan to help Iran obtain nuclear weapons is a good idea seem to be Obama and Kerry.

Greece continues to show what results from leftist governance.

The IRS, which committed not even a smidgen of wrongdoing, put impressive effort to destroy any evidence of the wrongdoing that they did not commit.

One of the president’s closets advisors has some pretty close ties to the Communist party.

And we are learning that to of the commandments of enviro-cultism, recycling and driving hybrids, aren’t as wonderful as we were led to believe.

Thankfully the press had it’s priorities straight and ignored these trivialities to focus on something as critical and pressing as a flag. And I’ll leave you with one more missed story since the left has been congratulating itself on its stances against bigotry:

Bobby Jindal has been the target of some ugly, racist remarks. I’ll let you take a guess as to which side of the aisle was the source.

Blogging by the credo of "Making the world a more offensive place, one blog post at a time", Brother Bob started writing posts around the beginning of the Obama presidency over at Brother Bob's Blog. A born-again Existentialist and self-professed libertarian with conservative tendencies, he has ironically chosen to live in the Washington, DC area - deep behind enemy lines. He has always loved history, and spent eight years volunteering as a tour guide on weekends, giving over 200 tours to roughly 2,500 mostly foreign guests. His tours were highlighted by stories generally not found in the history books or most other tours, such as the importance of the Battle if Antietam, the origins or Arlington Cemetery, and dispelling the myths of FDR's New Deal. Although his favorite subject to blog about is Economics, as seen in his Economics for Politicians series, his posts try to address angles that other conservative writers and the mainstream media (naturally!) miss. "There's no point in putting up a post on a subject that someone smarter than me has already written". He believes in the "Happy Warrior" approach, and tries to inject humor in his posts, sometimes successfully. Two such examples are his posts comparing the modern left to the horrible Star Wars prequels, and analyzing the laments of a DC woman in search of a feminist boyfriend. Brother Bob lives with his very patient wife known as Sister Babe, and their fantastic son. Little Bob. Little Bob is also the reason that being a tour guide came to an end, as spending Saturdays raising a son takes priority over giving lectures to foreign visitors on the folly of Keynesian economics. BB is also grateful for the opportunity to take his place among the outstanding writers at Flopping Aces, appreciates every person who takes the time to read his posts, and especially those who join him in the conversation in the comments.

Lest we forget (or the news didn’t cover it) Russia sent 33,000 troops to ”practice” taking over Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark!
Our NATO allies are so weak that what could they do but watch.

ISIS used Obama’s own hashtag (Love Wins) to advertise their latest defenestrations of homosexuals.
Four of them taken to a top floor of a tall building and held by their heels then dropped to their deaths to the cheers of the crowds.

Jordan’s King went to London to meet with those gov’ts really interested in fighting ISIS: the UK, the French, the Saudis, and the Egyptians……NOT the USA.

Greece is on the brink of falling. Its banks are out of cash and people are panicking.

Hillary Clinton gave a speech at George Mason University, in an arena holding 10,000 seats.
She couldn’t sell any at $125 each so she dropped them to $30 each.
There are still 8,000 empty seats even as she emailed local supporters that the seats were FREE!
She isn’t seeming so inevitable anymore, is she?

“The UN has decided that the use of civilians as human shields is now an acceptable tactic in warfare.”

Was it a coincidence that KGB thug Putin boasted not so long ago how his terrorists are using human shields in Ukraine? Looks like bunch of Useless Nonsense elitists a.k.a UN is dancing to his tune.

@Nicolas: “The UN has decided that the use of civilians as human shields is now an acceptable tactic in warfare.”

Obama’s ROE do not allow for ANY civilians to be killed on our airstrikes designed to ”degrade and destroy,” ISIS.
Therefore fewer than 1 in 4 airstrikes really drop any bombs!
Yet No One takes credit (blame?) for this policy?
    Whose ROE was it?
All the way up the chain of command everybody denies he was the one to impose it, yet there it is.
Only Obama, himself, has not weighed in.

The King already tried the US. Obama wasn’t interested; all HE needs to do is SAY we’ve won and it’s over.

Obama’s ROE do not allow for ANY civilians to be killed on our airstrikes designed to ”degrade and destroy,” ISIS.

Yet his drone strikes take out hundreds of civilians… it’s just kept quiet.

    @Bill: I don’t know about ”hundreds.”
    But this is the article:
    http://thehill.com/policy/defense/policy-strategy/245932-us-aims-for-zero-civilian-casualties-in-war-vs-isis
    Nuggets:

*Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), a retired Air Force colonel and former A-10 pilot and squadron commander, last week questioned the strategy for avoiding civilian casualties, calling it an “extreme constraint.”

*Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dave Deptula, who ran air campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, said the zero-casualty standard is beyond what is required under the laws of war.
“What the law of armed conflict requires is that all ‘reasonable’ measures be taken to avoid collateral damage and civilian casualties,” he said.
“If ISIS are using human shields, and those very unfortunate individuals get killed, that responsibility and blood lies on the hands of ISIS,” Deptula said.

*According to Deptula, the military averaged 1,241 strike sorties a day during Operation Desert Storm; 691 a day in the first month of the Iraq War; and 86 a day during the opening phase of the Afghanistan War. The ISIS campaign averages 12 sorties a day, with 9 of them returning having not dropped bombs. So 3 a day.

*Admitted total civilian casualties is only 2 with another 5 under investigation!

Brother Bob: I think you need to complete this sentence:

Apparently the only people who still think that the president’s plan to help Iran obtain nuclear weapons seem to be Obama and Kerry.

I suggest: “is a good idea” or “is the thing to do” between ‘weapons’ and ‘seem’

@JisterJ: I only wish your beloved leaders had the guts to fully enact their terrible law; more Democrats than do currently would be running, screaming, for the hills away from this catastrophe.

Once all the bills come due, Democrats may be joining the dinosaurs, becoming fossil fuels for the rest of us to ride around on.

@JisterJ: When the people who worked so hard to shove the law up into us (Congress, Supreme Court, the unions) stop demanding exemptions get back to me.

Not just demanding – but RECEIVING and also receiving various other sweetheart deals AND delays!

@Budvarakbar: Part of the reward for cheerleading for Obamacare was to be being exempted from its painful impact. Some are now seeing they, too, were lied to (unions). Yes, everyone that thinks this load of crap is so wonderful needs to live under its burden as well.

Those cheering such a “great achievement” and touting the “progressiveness” of it should feel the sting of the Abysmal Care Act. Then, as many have, they will eventually admit how stupid they have been (just as Gruber described them).

@Bill: Obama is blocking all attempts by Arab allies to fly heavy weapons directly to Kurds to fight Islamic State.
Instead he demands all weapons be channeled through Baghdad.
Officials from the Gulf and other states (Egypt) say they are looking at new ways to take the fight to Isil without seeking US approval.

But by then the RINOs will be in charge and get and accept the blame – and will FIX the ‘problems’ by creating more levels of BS that the next demoCOMMUNIST regime will be able to exploit
