The Obama trade pact has to die

This morning The Hill reports that business groups are determined to push through Obama’s trade legislation:

Business groups are expressing renewed determination to push trade legislation to President Obama’s desk, vowing to stop the House from writing the epitaph of a sweeping Asia-Pacific pact that was years in the making.

From industry groups including the Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), to the various coalitions that have formed to press for trade promotion authority (TPA), the overwhelming response to Friday’s failure in the House is one of defiance.

“Manufacturers will not back down in this fight for expanded trade, for the future of our industry and our country,” NAM said in a statement.
Labor unions and other opponents of trade promotion authority, or fast-track, are equally determined to fight and are leaning on Democrats to hold firm.

“We know that corporate interests that have been pushing fast-track … for years are not stopping,” said Neil Sroka, spokesman for the liberal Democracy for America. “So neither are we.”

This thing has to die. What is it really all about?

Cheap labor. Nothing more. A flood of H-1B immigrants.

OK, so who wants cheap labor and more immigrants?

Religious organizations

Churches are eager to replenish their flocks as America leans toward becoming more secular. More worshippers means more money.

Big business

Disney, coming off a year of record profits and seeing its CEO Iger paid $46 million, is eagerly seeking H1-B immigrants. It is forcing Americans to train the foreigners and then is laying off Americans. Disnet has gone so far as to even blacklist the displaced American workers.

Disney is doing this.

Zuckerberg’s top lobbyist says America needs loads more unskilled workers. He made the cockamamie assertion that “for every H-1B visa that is granted, nearly two jobs are created for native-born Americans.” It’s utterly false.

[The study] doesn’t say that there’s two jobs created and we know that many H-1B’s are actually replacing American workers and that Southern California Edison, even at a place like Disney and the Disney CEO who’s been taking home tens of millions of dollars, is actually on the board of another one of these front groups called the Partnership for A New American Economy that Michael Bloomberg has been heading. At the same time, he’s advocating for more H-1B’s, he’s bringing in more H-1B’s to replace his American workers.

Chamber of Commerce

See “big Business” above.

The big reason it needs to die?

Americans will lose their jobs. That is an absolute certainty. It is why ending the program to aid displaced Americans effectively shut down the trade legislation.

WASHINGTON — Hours after President Obama made a dramatic, personal appeal for support, House Democrats on Friday thwarted his push to expand trade negotiating power — and quite likely his chance to secure a legacy-defining accord spanning the Pacific Ocean.

In a remarkable blow to a president they have backed so resolutely, House Democrats voted to end assistance to workers displaced by global trade, a program their party created and has supported for four decades. That move effectively scuttled legislation granting the president trade promotion authority — the power to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended or filibustered by Congress.

And there would be so much of it. Big business would see higher profits because of cheaper labor. The remaining American taxpayers would be on the hook for supporting the Americans displaced by these imported foreigners. It would be a net positive cost to us. Our taxes would rise.

So why are Boehner and Ryan on board with this crap?

I think it’s money. I think they’re padding their post-Congressional beds. I can see $200,000 Obama, Boehner and Ryan one hour speeches for Disney, Facebook and Southern California Edison as favors returned after they depart the government.

You have to ask yourself why something that would be good for America is kept so out of the public view.

I’m not buying it. The Boehner-Ryan-Obama axis is a truly curious one, but most likely the ties that bind are green.

H-1B visas require a BS or BA.
H-1B visas mean intelligent Americans will not be employed in places like the medical arena, tech, engineering and even law.
I read a recent report about how Silicon Valley American employees are trying to keep sharp for 18+ hours a day so as to be worthwhile employees, too valuable to replace.

But two or even three cheap Chinese techies can be hired for what one of these American pulls down.
So, they fight to stay awake and sharp in a losing battle for job security.

PLUS, . . . Obama gets a rider in this bill that gives him unrestrained authority over IMMIGRATION.

THAT alone can permanently change the social, economic, political and cultural fibre of America in a 2 year time frame. Cooked and done.

It’s over. America is not recognizable and its Constitution is worthless romanticized scraps of aging parchment.

Cruz, Ryan and Rubio must be getting something serious in quid pro quo.

Sooo, who’s left, . . . Trump? Fiorina?
