Obama Ignored 30-Day Notice To Congress On Bergdahl Trade Because It “Was Too Long”

By 13 Comments 997 views

Obama flouts the law once again.

When asked why the requirement for a 30 day notice to Congress was ignored Susan Rice said the Administration thought it was too long so they just ignored it:

We had reason to be concerned about his life, but we also had reason to be concerned that the 30-day period that would normally be honored was too long, that had we waited that long we may have well missed what General Dempsey has called “the last, best opportunity” to bring him back.

And at least one of the terrorists they traded away for this traitor has spoken out:

One of the five Taliban leaders freed from Guantanamo Bay in return for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s release has pledged to return to fight Americans in Afghanistan, according to a fellow militant and a relative.

“After arriving in Qatar, Noorullah Noori kept insisting he would go to Afghanistan and fight American forces there,” a Taliban commander told NBC News via telephone from Afghanistan.

Noori pushed to return to Afghanistan after learning that the U.S. had provided written assurances that no country would arrest any of the five freed for a year as long as they lived peacefully, one of his relatives told NBC News by telephone from Afghanistan.

Who’s this Noori character? Eh, just someone wanted for war crimes:

Another leaked JTF-GTMO file described Noori as a “senior Taliban military commander” who was engaged in hostilities “against US and Coalition forces in late 2001.” Noori is “wanted by the United Nations (UN) for possible war crimes including the murder of thousands of Shiite Muslims.”

Way to go Obama!

Curt served in the Marine Corps for four years and has been a law enforcement officer in Los Angeles for the last 24 years.

    old guy

My feeling is this bit of BS was done to take the VA scandal off the front page, what happens next to get this off the front page?

The powers that be say if he does it again they will impeach! Well that’s like telling John Wayne Gacy if he kills another young man they will prosecute. how many laws do we allow him to break> Have we traded in our “gonads” to keep racial peace? Something has got to be done before this country explodes in civil war.

June 6, 2014 and Two scary thoughts surface:

    1. Obama is President
    2. Elizabeth Rice is the United States National Security Advisor

    What could go wrong?

Hmm, . . . oh yah, everything has already gone wrong.

    @old guy:
    I totally agree, old guy.
There are many scandals waiting for their spots on the front page while Obama puts one diversion after another there instead.
The problem with THIS scandal is that Obama is so surrounded by anti-war buddies (choom gang?) that none of them saw the potential blowback from trading 5 top terrorists for this guy.

Another Friday news dump today included news from the CBO who has given up trying to predict what ObamaCare will cost.
He does know that it will NOT cause any savings as it was the promise when it was sold to Dems on Capitol Hill.

Were it not for all these diversions (even with their unintended bad consequences for Obama) this would be front page news for sure.
CBO’s main problem is that Obama keeps changing ObamaCare on the fly.
That’d be great if Obama was leading a hockey line, but he’s not.

Yes – it was only politics!

It’s clear that Obama wants to empty out Guantanamo. To release these ‘5’ he used a traitor who really did not wanted to be rescued.
Bergdahl’s life was not in danger nor was his health declining enough to worry. The reason was invented to make it look as though they were concerned. Obama wrote Bergdahl off in 2010 (Michael Hasting’s last report).

If Obama would have followed the law – these ‘5’ would not have been released. He invented the Bergdahl ruse to rush this thru thinking that rescuing a soldier would override the release.

Obama and crew expected a ‘euphoria’ when Bergdahl was released. They were caught flat footed. They did not expect the back lash; the soldiers were under strict orders to remain silent about Bergdahl and his actions.
When Bergdahl paraded Bergdahl Sr at the white house – they no longer cared and violated the order to tell the truth. Many soldiers say on face book that they are being threatened with legal consequences for speaking out. At this point – they no longer care.
Bergdahl’s dad is in direct communication with Taliban members including a U-Tube channel. While we are being spied on what we do online – this guy continues to communicate with our enemy. How is that?
This whole ordeal with the release of these 5, Bergdahl – it just stinks to high heaven!

Special Ops presented plans to rescue Bergdahl but Obama wanted to do the swap

Apparently, Obama has a personal political agenda that naturally overrode any national security concerns. I had been wondering why the great man-tracker Obama, who personally tracked down and killed bin Laden (since, according to leftist revisionists, Bush contributed nothing) did not just find Bergdahl and rescue him. My curiosity was intensified when reports of intelligence sources observing Bergdahl doing various things…. if they could see him, why didn’t we go GET him?

Now we see the answer; Obama didn’t want to. He wanted to close GITMO, illegally if necessary. He has about 150 more prisoners; how is he going to get rid of all them without any more captive Americans? Trade them to Mexico for Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi?

I have NEVER seen any evidence that the existence of GITMO serves as any sort of inspiration for our enemies; is there any? It seems to bother our rabid liberal friends much more than it does Islamists.

BHO is quoted that the Bergdal swap was a prisoner swap, like they do at the end of War. What BHO really did was legitimize the Taliban and Give them the win for the war. This BHO action has placed a target on the head of Americans and BHO has literally Crapped on all who have fought in the Middle East past and present.

Obama accidentally called just himself and those few who agreed with him ” his government.”
    http://www.bizpacreview.com/2014/06/07/arrogant-obama-my-government-didnt-need-congress-for-exchange-and-we-will-do-it-again-123804 Video.
What he forgets is that MOST of those in the know in Congress (Seante AND House) opposed it and are in the ”government.”
Also that most at the Pentagon opposed it, too (part of the ”government”).
As well as some of his own advisers opposed it. (Part of his Administration.)
It appears now that Bowe will NOT be heard from unless he toes Obama’s line before Obama leaves office.
He may stay imprisoned in a mental hospital in Europe then in Texas until after Obama leaves office if he won’t cooperate with he re-education process.
His parents have waited a full week now to hear from him but he is not being allowed to talk even with them!

@This one: psst! It wasn’t a LAW then and the Reagan administration was not the self-proclaimed most honest, most reputable and most transparent in history. And Reagan did release war criminals back into the population.

@This one: Here’s the part all you blindly liberal ideologues miss; there were investigations, there were hearings, there was punishment meted out. Most significantly, most importantly, Reagan publicly accepted responsibility for the entire episode. If only Mr. Obama could accept responsibility of even one of his magnificent failures, but he had leaned nothing from this or Nixon’s cover-ups. Then again, only he has had a compliant media that is willing to help him drag the tarp over his failures…. except that they are, apparently, growing weary of having to cover up one utter failure and lie after another.

Oh, and Reagan SUCCEEDED. And, he wasn’t giving away weapons, he was selling them and using the proceeds to support freedom fighters opposing a communist regime. You leftists seem to support lying and breaking the law to achieve something noble, even if you are the only ones considering it such. Supporting people fighting for their freedom is what noble actually is.
