The Obama regime has been conducting an IRS pogrom against conservatives for several years now. Private records have been released, conservative groups and individuals have been audited continuously and the Obama regime has issued new rules codifying the persecution of conservatives.
Now the Obama regime is taking it to a new level- the threat of death.
Lois Lerner fears for her life if she testifies openly before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Wednesday, according to her attorney.
House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa announced Sunday that Lerner will testify at Wednesday’s hearing, but Lerner’s attorney Bill Taylor said that Lerner will seek to continue invoking her Fifth Amendment rights and will also seek a one-week delay of her testimony.
Oversight members are reportedly open to granting Lerner a one-week delay if she petitions for one in person at Wednesday’s hearing. The delay would allow Lerner’s lawyers to continue negotiating for immunity, which they have been doing since at least September.
“I advised the staff that calling Ms. Lerner knowing that she will assert her rights was not only improper but dangerous. Ms. Lerner has been the subject of numerous threats on her life and safety, and on the life and safety of her family. I left with the staff recent evidence of those threats,” said Taylor in a letter to Issa.
But Oversight previously determined that Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights when she made a statement attesting to her innocence at a May 2013 hearing.
Republican Reps. Jim Jordan and Jason Chaffetz, both Oversight members, said recently that they were considering holding Lerner in contempt of Congress if she does not testify.
Issa said on the subject, ”We want her to come back and answer questions. We’ll see on contempt.”

Now it gets interesting. Why would Lerner be in fear for her life were she to testify?

Now there is no question of criminality.

I see nothing in the articles cited that indicate where exactly the “threats” come from.
Is she claiming the “threats” come from the administration, or from the Tea Party/conservative groups that she targeted?
@Kraken: Well, I don’t think she really has to worry about threats from anyone in the TEA Party, but I have heard of people in opposition to the sitting party suddenly coming up dead tho’…

Manufacturing Tea Party threats would both give her additional sympathy and justify her targeting amongst Collective Drones, not to mention further demonize their political adversaries. So there would be motivation in attributing threats to the Tea Party as well.
And we should feel sorry for her after everything she did to the American people. She should have thought about the bad things she was doing….
@annie: No Annie, nobody should feel sorry for her at all. She’s a grown woman, knew without question what she was doing was wrong and continued to do it. No sympathy for self-inflicted wounds, none. Period. She should go to prison for the rest of her life, forfeit all pension and benefits she may have accrued, AND give up all she knows about the goings-on inside the Executive Branch.

These threats (past tense) seem to be from people upset by her NOT testifying.
The very persons who wanted her to testify, in other words.
So, THEY wouldn’t stand in the way of her NOW testifying.
BUT……throwing people under the bus is the Obama team’s specialty.
How cynical of them to try to protect their beloved one’s bum by waving old threats in Congress’ collective face.
Lois will testify even if they have to disguise her to get her to and from the meeting.
Afterward, if she is utterly honest, she will have mollified all those who might have wished her harm for holding back AND she will have de-fanged all those she had been protecting.

What continues to amaze is the utter lack of interest in this story by the MSM.
I am old enough to remember that during Watergate…the late Daniel Shorr at CBS who made Nixon’s enemies list…blaze on and on about the dangers of a politicized IRS. In that case Nixon only sought the IRS’s cooperation in auditing his enemies, that was enough to make it a charge on his bill of impeachment. Obama actually accomplished it!

I note, she took the 5th rather than beg for a closed session.
If she had asked for that closed session I might have some respect for her.
I hope they hold her in contempt.

If you remember…Watergate was broken when Judge “Maximum John” Sirica sent burglar James McCord to jail and told him he would stay there until he told the truth. McCord talked…and one by one, the entire Nixon administration fell.
Of course Issa must understand that almost the entire media will castigate him as being sexist and misogynist for putting Learner in jail. Once again, the biggest problem we will have in finding the truth is the media blocking and tackling for Obama.
