Expert Testifies to Congress that Constitutional Crises looming?: Obama’s ‘Ignoring Laws’ Could Lead to Overthrow of Government (Reader Post)

The habitual behavior of this administration, circumventing and ignoring the powers and responsibilities set forth in the Constitution, and it’s limitation of the powers of the office of the President could come to a head (as Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a Congressional Committee).

During a congressional committee hearing about the constitutional limits imposed on the presidency and the implications of President Barack Obama’s disregard for implementing the Affordable Care Act as written, one expert testified that the consequences of the president’s behavior were potentially grave. He said that the precedent set by Obama could eventually lead to an revolt against the federal government.

On Tuesday, Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a congressional committee about the dangers of the president’s legal behavior.

“There is one last thing to which the people can resort if the government does not respect the restrains that the constitution places on the government,” Cannon said. “Abraham Lincoln talked about our right to alter our government or our revolutionary right to overthrow it.”

Aside from Obama’s taking over the legislative powers that the Constitution declares only shall be exercised by Congress by his unilateral changing of the ACA, he has violated finacia law by moving around appropriated set forth for specific spending, to fund his other agenda items for which Congress did not finance. He has also bypassed the legislative branch by having the government agencies under him create law (via rules, regulations and enforcement/unenforcement orders) without these being approved by Congress.

Should the public be forced to resort to the final desperate stage of insurrection, as it’s it’s right to rem0ve a government -that no longer represents but instead rules over The People-, can any doubt that Dictator Obama would immediately declare national martial law and a suspension of the Constitution? With the Constitution suspended, the other two branches of government could then be ignored. This is after all the normal final phase of the Socialist regime playbook that a tyrannical executive branch follows when taking over a nation.

Surely people have noticed by now that congressional republicans have been holding endless committee hearings for the sole purpose of trotting out biased “experts” such as Michael Cannon. It’s all part of the dog and pony show intended to damage their political opponents. The show could be improved. They really should get spotlights, a costumed ringmaster, and parade in a few real elephants. That at least would provide for a change of manure.

@Greg:

Why do you ignore Jonathan Turley, a professed liberal?

@ilovebeeswarzone: Bees, I’m not sure that it was the ‘calling of Mitt a RINO’ that kept him from getting elected, unfortunately, I think it was him actually being a RINO that kept him from it. I certainly voted for Mitt because even a turd in the well would be better than that idiot currently occupying the office. (no, I’m not equating Romney with being a turd in the well, I actually admire him for his job creating ability and his family life) He was just not a person that most conservatives were willing to go to bat for. (Too many socialists leanings on his part). Maybe the Republicans can find a conservative to run and we’ll have better success. By now, I’m sure even many Dimocrats are having to hold their nose when they talk about obama.

@retire05, #53:

Turley has repeatedly called for George W Bush and members of his administration to be prosecuted for torture and war crimes. Do you believe this suggests that he might be a bit too extreme in his assessments?

I’ve had problems with the unitary executive theory for a while now. If the power of the Executive Branch is to be reined in, that needs to be done in a non-partisan fashion. What I object to is the blatant double standard. Conservatives who had little difficulty with the authoritarian excesses of the Bush administration instantly became hypercritical of the far more moderate exercise of executive authority displayed by the Obama administration.

@Greg:

They really should get spotlights, a costumed ringmaster, and parade in a few real elephants.

They could, but then they’re not Dimocrats

@Greg:

Turley has repeatedly called for George W Bush and members of his administration to be prosecuted for torture and war crimes.

I realize you are only quoting Turley, but I’ve not heard of this ‘torture and war crimes’ bit. Is that something the libs only accuse Repub of? I haven’t heard of Bush torturing anyone, do you know who it was? Was it at the white house or at his ranch in Texas?

@Redteam, #57:

While I strongly objected to some of the things they ordered done while in office, I never advocated that Bush and Cheney should be charged with war crimes. That’s one of Turley’s positions that has made me skeptical of his opinions in general.

@Greg: Well, it’s good to know you didn’t agree that Bush had committed war crimes.

@Greg, I’m still scratching my head at “Bush’s authoritarian excesses”. Maybe I’m having an airhead moment, but I don’t recall his actions being in direct conflict with the Constitution anything like we’ve seen from the beginning of Obama’s reign. Did I like all that 43 did? No, and some of the things he did really pissed me off. But never once did I get the feeling that he was operating outside of the rule of law and our Constitution, never once did I get the feeling from him that he hated this country, our traditions and our principles.

@Scott in Oklahoma: True Scott, just the opposite of that guy there now.

@Scott in Oklahoma, #60:

Among other things, I seem to recall the power to confiscate property from citizens without due process if terrorist connections were suspected, the power to imprison citizens without a trial, the power to imprison secretly, and the power to do all of these things based on secret testimony, without any need of revealing to the accused the source or precise nature of the accusations.

Have you forgotten all of that, or did you never work out the full implications of what the Bush administration decided it was able do?

Redteam
YES, I HEARD THE WORD FROM SOME CONSERVATIVES ALSO,
BUT THE DANGER IS THEY WON’T BE ABLE TO GET TOGETHER AND

@Greg, there were some things about the Patriot Act I really didn’t like, there were other parts that I could see the necessity of (at the time I was working in an anti-terrorist task force). One thing I do believe though, Pres. Bush never imagined for even a minute that his successor would go about using those tools in nefarious political ways like Obama has. About half of the things you named are myths by the way, spoon fed to the public by the liberal media. How do I know that? Simply because I was one of those guys that supposedly had those tools to use; guess what… all those confiscations and secret body snatching didn’t happen, wasn’t allowed in the real world (not quite like that show “24”).
Got any more examples? Because the list of “violations” committed by your favorite black president is too long for me to list tonight; I have to pack for an “away week” for work.

@Scott in Oklahoma, #64:

Because the list of “violations” committed by your favorite black president is too long for me to list tonight; I have to pack for an “away week” for work.

So people say. Oddly, however, Congress has never done anything about it—you know, as if all of these violations were actually real and could be proven with evidence. They’d like nothing better, but they know what would happen if they were actually required to prove any of this stuff. The truth would be revealed.

Why else would they be refraining?

@ilovebeeswarzone:

Bees, this is the same magnetic pole reversal (which happens every 11 years +/-,) that we were discussing in August, it is fully expected but only about a month or two overdue. It will not cause planes to fall from the sky. As it is only an geomagnetic field polar reversal there is no gravity wave effect whatsoever, which means that it will have no effect at all on Earth’s plates, the magma underneath, nor can it have any associated tidal effect.

What it may do is cause radio frequency interference , which could affect satellites, radio/television/cellphone reception, create perturbations to compass readings and other minor electromagnetic interference effects. We have been forewarned, so we can expect some short term inconveniences, but it is highly doubtful that it will cause any serious problems. So relax and enjoy the fun as people panic about their smart phones acting up, and you can tell them to “chill out, it will be over in a couple weeks once the solar pole reversal ends.”

@Ditto: In the past, the pole reversals on the sun have been almost un-noticed on earth

As expected, along comes Greg to drag out once again his same tired, old and worn out carpetbag of tricks: Misdirection, Change the Subject, and Blame Bush. He doesn’t want to discuss the fact that “The Won” has violated his oath of office and the Constitutional limits the Constitution places on the President. Greg doesn’t care about the rule of law that Obama refuses to follow.

I suppose that means Greg will be perfectly fine with an increased imperial presidency with a Republican sitting on the throne. Should that happen Greg will have only himself and his other quislings to blame when a GOP president takes the WH and begins implementing an extremest Republican agenda. Should we start to list for Greg all the laws that leftists hold dear, that a Republican President can order the Federal Agencies not to enforce? Maybe new regulations for the IRS to target unions that engage in political speech? Perhaps delaying, reducing or halting entitlement programs until the government is again solvent? Removing all the leadership of the labor board and stacking it with pro-business/anti-union management? Should this and more all happen will Greg be happy when the left complains, only to be reminded that “Obama started it” with his refusal to follow Constitutional limits?

At least some of us are not afraid to declare our opposition to certain actions from our GOP politicians, and we’ve called them to task for it. When his Imperial president Obama has grossly overstepped the Constitution limits into the unsurpassed arrogance normally reserved for banana republic dictators, Greg has nothing to say but “look over there.”

@Ditto, #69:

It seems to me that you’re the one dodging the issue raised in #62. When the Bush administration did that sort of crap there was scarcely a raised eyebrow on the right. Mostly there were cheers, and angry accusations of a lack of patriotism if anyone dared to question it. Then the same people go totally ballistic because Obama isn’t fully enforcing every provision of a law from day 1 that they themselves are doing everything in their power to undermine.

My conclusion is that a lot of people are strict constitutionalists only when it’s convenient. If they could actually support their accusations about Obama’s flagrant violations of constitutional law with evidence, they would have formally done something. They’d have attempted impeachment.

They haven’t because they can’t. There’s no real basis for it. So they hold endless hearings, distorting a process they control in an effort to manipulate public opinion. They do that, and they obstruct, and they attempt to monkey-wrench what they can’t stop by legislative process. That’s all they’ve done since Obama took office.

@Greg:

They’d have attempted impeachment.

That’s a DF statement. If the house impeached him, the Senate would give him a pass even if he had murdered someone, then he couldn’t be impeached again for the same thing. They have to wait for a Repub Senate. DF!

@Greg stammered… “It seems to me that you’re the one dodging the issue raised in #62.” I addressed those issues Greg. Do you have more examples? Or is that all you have? That train left the station, and you weren’t on it.
Got to go to work now, play nice.

@Redteam:

For the most part yes. There have been recorded abnormalities and minor disruptions on a somewhat stronger scale than normally experienced with solar storms.

@Greg:

Get off your high horse Greg. You continue to dodge the original subject (unconstitutional actions by Obama) by changing the subject, pointing your finger at Bush and expecting us to follow you down your rabbit hole. Many of us have continually shown our dislike and disdain for some of Bush’s establishment policies, as well as laws he supported such as the Patriot Act. You are a hypocrite because you still want to rant about ‘what Bush did’ and yet give Obama a total pass when Obama has done far more damage to the Separation of Powers than any of his predecessors. The president is required to faithfully enforce the laws of the land, He has no Constitutional authority to rewrite the laws by either management orders or inaction. Of course you know full well that your fellow far-left partisans in the Senate would never remove Obama from office for these crimes, so it will be necessary for the voters to replace enough of the Democrat Senators with Republicans before initiating impeachment proceedings. Until then I have no doubt that your Messiah will continue his arrogant imperialist campaign to concentrate power under the executive branch, and that fanatical followers such as you will continue to support his destruction of our Constitutional republic.

@Redteam, #71:

That’s a DF statement. If the house impeached him, the Senate would give him a pass even if he had murdered someone, then he couldn’t be impeached again for the same thing. They have to wait for a Repub Senate. DF!

If the House had convincing evidence for anything, they could easily initiate and pass articles of impeachment. That would bring about a trial in the Senate, during the course of which all evidence could be publicly presented. The democratic majority would not be able to block this process. A partisan democratic vote could possibly block a conviction with republican support, however this would be done in full public view, and would have grave political consequences if the evidence clearly supported a finding that wrongdoing actually existed.

The democratic majority in the Senate isn’t actually stopping anything. It’s the lack of any significant evidence that’s preventing republican action. They make endless accusations, but they know they couldn’t back them up if they were required to do so. If they really thought they could, they would.

@ilovebeeswarzone:

Pilots are not idiots and most if not all planes with these advanced avionic systems will alert the pilot when a problem occurs. Nor would such interference be constant. Those aircraft without such systems are being flown completely manually, and they would see their compasses fluctuating oddly.

You are worrying needlessly Bees. I’m telling you that the effects will be negligible based on history, past reports,scientific studies and my technical experience. We have been going over this repeatedly. If you don’t want to trust what I have told you, then there is nothing further that I say on the matter that will ease your fears.

@ilovebeeswarzone:

I hope you know that no affront to you was intended Bees. I was just concerned that you might be getting information from websites blowing the whole thing out of proportion. (Like the AGW/”Climate-Change” hucksters do).

Re: teleportation

I’m guessing that you are talking about Author Robert Green’s DIY website article about teleportation. He discusses the philosophy of two theoretical methods of teleportation, one he calls “Copy/Kill” and the other he calls “Move”. The term scientists use for the “Copy/Kill” method is Quantum Teleportation which relies on “entanglement”

the (theoretical) transporters of Star Trek work off of the “move” method. However, the “replicators” of the Star Trek series utilize the final stage unit of the Quantum Teleportation model, storing in memory the information needed to recreate what ever it is that they want to copy.

I try to keep abreast of advances in technology and it is surprising just how many science fiction concepts are becoming real. Experimental transportation is a reality, and working transporters have been developed on the most basic of levels:

It’s Teleportation — For Real

The idea is that if quantum particles — electrons, ions, atoms and the like – have exactly the same properties, then they’re essentially the same. So if the properties of the quantum particles making up an object are reproduced in another particle group, there would be a precise duplicate of the original object.

Therefore, all that needs to be transmitted is the information about the particles’ properties, not the particles themselves.

“A teleportation machine would be like a fax machine, except that it would work on three-dimensional objects as well as documents. It would produce an exact copy rather than an approximate facsimile, and it would destroy the original in the process of scanning it,” wrote quantum teleportation pioneer Charles Bennett on an IBM Research website.

Beam me up, Scotty: Scientists successfully teleport photons nearly 100 kilometers

Think teleportation is a fictional concept reserved for plot twists in sci-fi novels or philosophical thought experiments? Think again. Not only is teleportation possible, but scientists in China have recently teleported a photon a record-setting distance of 97 kilometers, according to MIT’s Technology Review.

Since the previous distance record for teleportation was just 16 kilometers, this new record is an impressive feat– and it might soon pave the way for the technology to become viable.

Before you get too excited, though, understand: This doesn’t mean that scientists are close to realizing the technology from “Star Trek,” or “The Fly.” (Thank goodness, in the case of the latter.) Rather, the kind of teleportation performed in this experiment is quantum teleportation. So Scotty won’t be beaming anybody up anytime soon, but since information can be encoded on the quantum level, he may be able to beam up information– a triumph that could revolutionize communication speeds.

The bizarre quantum phenomenon that makes this possible is called entanglement. This is the mysterious link that certain particles, such as photons or electrons, can share even if they’re separated by space. Basically, if one particle from an entangled pair takes on a value (i.e., a rate of spin), then the other of the pair will do the same thing. This can happen instantaneously, and theoretically, over any distance of space. How exactly entanglement works is still an enigma, but the fact that it works is well understood.

So far only quantum teleportation has been successful and only on a subatomic level with the Quantum Transportation of photons. This science is in it’s infancy, so don’t expect Scotty to beam anyone up anytime soon.

@Greg: Another DF statement:

A partisan democratic vote could possibly block a conviction with republican support, however this would be done in full public view, and would have grave political consequences if the evidence clearly supported a finding that wrongdoing actually existed.

Since when did a Dimocrat care if he looked like a POS? If a Dim senator supported Obama, regardless of what the evidence showed, they would be put on a pedestal and admired forever. Nope, the Dims have no pride, they will support their leader regardless of how corrupt he is. Corruption has no bounds in the White house at the present.

@Redteam, #80:

As I said, they’ve got no evidence that would stand up to close inspection. If they did have, they would be falling all over themselves to present it. They wouldn’t worry about the possibility of failing to achieve a conviction by being outvoted in the Senate. Clearly establishing the truth of their accusations in the minds of the public would be victory enough, come the next election.

If they shovel manure for long enough, they won’t be able to get the smell off themselves. They’ve been at it for 5 years now.

that could be happening, right under our feets,
the tunnel diggers, send us illegals, which they have transported by teleportation,
next thing you see so many look alike, all coming from the same person WHO IS STILL IN HIS GLASS BUBLE,
at his country which he never left,
and we are stuck whit a bunch of druids out to sell cocaine to our young,
if they can teletransport one, why not a thousands of the same,
just thinking,
by the way, I notice , we see a lot of monkeys , lately, here in the public places,
could it be, CHINA IS TRYING TELEPORTATION USING MONKEY,
what i think will come, joke aside now, is we will look at a show on tv and chose the actor we want to be teleported on our door, and just push a button,
and the process will get it done,
BUT , THE GLITCH, IS YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT, because they haven’t found the way, for one to get rid of it,
WOW, THE FUTURE IS BLEAK,
YES they are already working on it, yes sir,
the first step is to desensithize the people, and that is advancing quite fast, we see it clear, they hold a tex pad
and walk in the street head down,
THE PAD DICTATE THEIR MOVE,

@ilovebeeswarzone:

No bees, I am certain that the monkeys are appearing via normal physical means and the same for illegal immigrants. Science is nowhere near creating a “move” method transporter that can use quantum teleportation to transfer a person from one place to another. Nor has the “Copy/Kill” method yet been able to replicate even a simple single cell creature.
