Rejoice!….The ObamaCare Trainwreck Is Upon Us

By 26 Comments 995 views

Remember this?

Us Conservatives called it a lie. Liberals dismissed us.

Not so much anymore:

Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies.

The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010. At least a few are canceling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions. …

Florida Blue, for example, is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente in California has sent notices to 160,000 people – about half of its individual business in the state. Insurer Highmark in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross, the major insurer in Philadelphia, is dropping about 45 percent.

And how do Doctors feel about this?

New York doctors are feeling queasy about ObamaCare — and many won’t participate in the new national insurance program because they fear they’ll go broke, The Post has learned.

“ObamaCare is going to send me more patients to see and then cut the payments to provide the care — that’s what’s going to happen,” predicted Donald Moore, a primary-care doctor in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. “I will not accept it.”

Moore claims that President Obama made a big mistake by requiring uninsured residents to obtain medical coverage from for-profit insurers through the ObamaCare health exchanges instead of through public health programs like Medicaid.

Under tremendous pressure to keep costs down and profits up, Moore said he’s concerned that commercial insurers will pay doctors less for patient visits and services than either Medicaid or Medicare.

How long before the left demands Doctors work for the greater good? I bet we begin seeing stories coming from Obama’s most loyal pundits in the MSM crying about the exorbitant incomes of Doctors….those greedy bastards!

Early on when ObamaCare had passed and people were beginning to read it, doctors started to note how it turned them into SLAVES.
Over and over again the liberal pundits, leftist politicians and others claimed they were crazy.
Oddly they couldn’t back up their crazy claim with proof that doctors would be fine or even do well financially under ObamaCare.
    So, here we are.
    Doctors are quitting in droves.
Private practice, cash only, are already popping up.
Here in Utah, some of these are quite reasonable!
We went from having a supposedly two tier medical care (the covered and the uncovered) toward a new two tier standard: the ObamaCare covered VS the underground cash-only care.
Paying that little penalty makes sense if you have the cash and would rather see a doctor of your choosing.

This will cause problems for all those new Gestapo agents at the IRS, they will have nothing to do if they can’t harass you for not buying into Obama Care. How will they garnish your bank accounts and put liens on homes if Unaffordable care is so screwed up no one wants it?

Look people, the government taxes 30 to 40 percent of your income, with Obama Care, they can double the taxes, it is a tax, a way to control nearly all of your income. Why do you people have a problem with giving Obama 70% of your income, he loves you and wants to take care of you, give him your money. You will still have 20 to 40% of your disposable income, how much do you need? This is the way of the future, Obama has all the answers and soon he will have all your money. The problem is, an economy cannot exist with no income or discretionary income, but I think he knows that little detail.

No, they won’t suddenly “get religion” and see the world as conservatives do, they will blame repubs for the failure. Saw it last night on FOX when Juan claimed the HHS servers and computers were old cruddy crappy ones because the repubs cut the budget. Gag.

    Prepare for impact, people.

You all must be wrong if This One the troll says so! Even the NY times is concerned. There is no where in the world where a system like this has worked. Why does any person with sanity or common sense think it will work here? Maybe those who think it will work are not sane or lack common sense!

The OBAMACARE TRAIN has left the station.

It’s not my place to run the train,
    The whistle I can’t blow,
It’s not my place to say how far,
    The train’s allowed to go,
It’s not my place to shoot off steam,
    Nor even clang the bell.
But let the dumb thing jump the track,
    And see who catches hell.

Kinda cherry picked a bit there didn’t you Curt?

ACA has minimum requirements meaning substandard policies will no longer work. Some policies needed to be changed to include coverage of pre-existing conditions, child birth, etc. Many are more of “policy changes” verse what can be percieved as “policy cancellation”.

    From your very own link we read;

By all accounts, the new policies will offer consumers better coverage, in some cases, for comparable cost — especially after the inclusion of federal subsidies for those who qualify. The law requires policies sold in the individual market to cover 10 “essential” benefits, such as prescription drugs, mental health treatment and maternity care. In addition, insurers cannot reject people with medical problems or charge them higher prices. The policies must also cap consumers’ annual expenses at levels lower than many plans sold before the new rules.

Kris Malean, 56, lives outside Seattle, and has a health policy that costs $390 a month with a $2,500 deductible and a $10,000 in potential out-of-pocket costs for such things as doctor visits, drug costs or hospital care.

As a replacement, Regence BlueShield is offering her a plan for $79 more a month with a deductible twice as large as what she pays now, but which limits her potential out-of-pocket costs to $6,250 a year, including the deductible.

“My impression was …there would be a lot more choice, driving some of the rates down,” said Malean, who does not believe she is eligible for a subsidy.

@Ronald J. Ward: ACA has minimum requirements meaning substandard policies will no longer work. Some policies needed to be changed to include coverage of pre-existing conditions, child birth, etc.

    What a laugh!
Like I need birth control and abortifactant coverage at 64!
    Like I need maternity coverage!
Like I need substance abuse coverage!
It is a total rip off of people like me, as well as all men who also are paying for BC, abortions, and maternity in THEIR coverages!
What I DO need is coverage of PAP. mammography and other care.
    Oh!
    Guess what?
After age 60 I pay OUT OF POCKET under ObamaCare for any PAPs I want or any mammography!
ObamaCare is also cancelling prostate testing for older men as if it has too many false positives.
So, out of pocket for that, too, men.

The worst thing about the exchanges (after you finally get on one) is that they will not tell you all costs, with or without subsidies.
In other words, you might be tricked into what looks like a cheap ”Bronze” plan when actually you would save more under a “Silver” one.

    @This one:

It is only working, you leftist fool, if you’re referring to obamacare causing worsening employment conditions, higher taxes, and cancelling insurance for multitudes of people who previously had health insurance that worked for them to their satisfaction.

Even CNBC has admitted that obamacare is causing companies to convert to part-time employment.
    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013/10/cnbcs-maria-bartiromo-obamacare-forcing-businesses-to-shift-to-part-time-workers-video

But what really shows what is going on in America at least in 2013, is the following summary: of the 953K jobs “created” so far in 2013, only 23%, or 222K, were full-time. Part-time jobs? 731K of the 953K total.

That is from an article graphing out the part-time vs full-time jobs that were created thus far in 2013 for the entire country. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-08-02/obamacare-full-frontal-953000-jobs-created-2013-77-or-731000-are-part-time

The whole (idiotic) concept of this collectivist scam is that everybody gets taxed more to pay for health care for people who “can’t afford it”. What these leftist vermin don’t have the capacity to understand is that when you set up your laws to encourage mooching and laziness while punishing hard work, you will cause economic collapse as more and more people choose to be lazy, and the burden of paying for all the freeloaders brings the entire structure down on top of us.

The mental deficiency of all progressives is thinking that because they want something to happen bad enough, that somehow they can defy all the laws of nature to make things happen – and that because leftists believe themselves to be so sanctimonious in their goals, they have a right to force their will upon everyone else. Deep down inside they know they are deceitful, despicable thugs, and that what they are doing is wrong. That is why the leftist must lie repeatedly and shout down anyone with the temerity to oppose the thugs in their quest for progressive domination.

Obamacare is a complete failure by any objective standard of decency and of outcomes – unless, of course, your goal is to force everyone into complete government control of healthcare. For those of you with a shred of integrity, consider the real danger from such a program run by a government that:

    1. Allowed 4 Americans to die in Benghazi without sending available assistance, then lied for at least 7 days knowingly repeating a false claim about spontaneous riots over an unseen video and arresting the maker of the video on bogus charges –
    2. A government that used the IRS to harass opposition political groups to hijack an election –
    3. A government that blatantly lied about – keeping your doctor; your health insurance; that premiums would go down an average of $2500/yr –
    4. A government so hypocritical to claim that photo ID for voting is discriminatory to minorities but presenting photo ID to use obamacare is not –
    5. A government that hires individuals from ACORN, convicted of election fraud, to become obamacare navigators –

Does any of that make any of you get warm and fuzzy about the intent, the efficiency, or the judgment of those still claiming obamacare is a good thing?

  12. 20

    Pete

    @Ronald J. Ward:

And as is typical of the left, you act dismissive of any reality you do not want to accept.

Obama repeatedly stated (lied) that if you liked your insurance plan you would be able to keep it – that nothing in his evil program would force anyone to change their health plan. That is a lie, Mr. Ward. You even admit it in your cut from the article – obamacare REQUIRES certain things to be covered, whether an individual wants or needs those things, thus obamacare is forcing private insurance companies to drop perfectly good insurance coverage because it does not force the insured to pay for things he or she does not want nor need. It is absolutely dishonest to claim this is a ‘policy change’ rather than a cancellation. Insurance companies aren’t sending out ‘policy change’ letters, Mr. Ward, and you know that.

With all the lies, the political shenanigans used to “deem” it passed in 2010, the horrible effects on employment, the congressional and union special exemptions being granted, the increased costs, free citizens being forced to buy something they do not want or need because Roberts bent over and called it a tax, and the disgustingly incompetent rollout of the exchanges – continuing to support obamacare is not only abject stupidity, but utterly immoral.

  13. 21

    Ditto

    @Pete:

But don’t you see the progressive logic? With more jobs being converted to low wage & part time, businesses will have to hire more part time workers, which is why Democrats and big-business crony estbl-Republicans want Amnesty. Higher employment rates for all the lowly serfs, with no consideration that the little people will still not be able to afford the deductibles.

  14. 22

    Ronald J. Ward

@Ditto: Hasn’t your “part time/ job killing” gibberish been debunked like anywhere you go?

Oh, I forgot, Hannity had live guest to tell of such atrocities didn’t he?

  15. 25

    dscott

So far 300k cancellation letters went out to people WITH health insurance in Florida from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and another 160k cancellation letters went out to people in California from Kaiser. There are between 10 and 12 million with non employer sponsored health insurance outstanding and now on the chopping block.

The results of ObamaCare, a government program to get people health insurance: zip to 560,000. When will the slaughter rule be called upon? By December 31, 2013 that score will be zip to 12,000,000 JUST FOR INDIVIDUALS, NOT COUNTING 10 million small businesses set to lose theirs as well…

@dscott: To add to your point, see this:
Health insurance cancellation notices soar above Obamacare enrollment rates
    http://dailycaller.com/2013/10/24/health-insurance-cancellation-notices-soar-above-obamacare-enrollment-rates/#ixzz2iiT1vnS9

More Americans have lost their individual health coverage in Florida and California than have gotten past the login screen on HealthCare.gov, according to The Washington Post, which reports that 476,000 applications have “been started,” but not completed.

    Meager sign ups:

*South Dakota reported that only 23 people enrolled in the exchanges, a mere 0.0000276 percent of that state’s population.
*North Dakota enrolled only 20 residents.
*Alaska, meanwhile, comes in at seven total enrollees, or 0.000957 percent of Alaskans.
Sources inside the Department of Health and Human Services told The Daily Mail that only 6,200 Americans signed up for coverage the day HealthCare.gov launched.

    More broken promises from Obama:
In 2009, President Barack Obama vowed that
*Obamacare would merely lower costs for Americans with health insurance while providing coverage to the uninsured.

“[N]o matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period,” Obama said to an audience at the annual conference of the American Medical Association. “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”

“Again, [the Affordable Care Act] is for people who aren’t happy with their current plan. If you like what you’re getting, keep it. Nobody is forcing you to shift.”

    Tell that to

*the nearly 800,000 New Jersey residents’ health-care plans will not longer exist in 2014,
*the 300,000 policy holders who got cancelled in Florida,
*the 279,000 Californians cancelled by Kaiser and Blue Shield,
*the Pennsylvanians whose Insurance Highmark in Pittsburgh and Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia plan to cancel 20 percent and 45 percent of their total plans, respectively.
