Under Duress The Liberal Media Finally Covers The Gosnell Case While Complaining About Conservative Hypocrisy

A Salon writer demands to know “where were conservatives before this week?” on the Gosnell case. Apparently the writer searched for a few minutes and couldn’t find any evidence that any conservative had paid attention to the case.

Curious isn’t it that when the shining spotlight is pointed at the liberals, at their bias and hypocrisy, they try to turn it into “conservatives are just as bad” debate. Curious, but not surprising.

Alas, I searched for just a few minutes and found the following:

Mark Steyn two years ago:

This is a remarkable moment in American life: A man is killing actual living, gurgling, bouncing babies on an industrial scale – and it barely makes the papers.

Ed Morrissey two years ago:

The horror show uncovered by a grand jury in Philadelphia has resulted in a significant change in Pennsylvania policy regarding abortion clinics.

…Michelle [Malkin] urges people to continue to shine a light on the Gosnell case. If this involved a dentist or surgeon deliberately murdering patients, it would be national news and we wouldn’t have to urge people to demand answers.

Rick Rice two years ago:

The details are incredibly horrific and a true indication of how sick and demented one can become when their vocation is centered on killing the innocent.

Kim Priestap two years ago:

Gosnell’s practice thrived because of abortion and its accompanying mentality that killing one’s unborn baby is a sacred right. Try to wrap your brain around that concept, that killing one’s own unborn baby is as sacred a right as freedom of speech and the freedom of religion. What a schizophrenic application of human rights. Abortion has become a cancer that has been allowed to grow and fester, not just throughout America, but throughout all of humanity as it exists today.

Jay Nordlinger two years ago:

According to a Philadelphia grand jury, one Dr. Kermit Gosnell “regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy — and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors.”

…Well, whoop-de-do. This is such a weird, morally confused country. You can abort to your heart’s content, and Americans will fight to the death for your right to do it. But should you “get rid of” your baby after he has slipped the womb, we cry, “Eek! Murder! How shocking!”

Really, does “Baby D” truly care whether you get him an hour before birth or a few minutes after? Why are we so squeamish? Why does a nation that has tolerated abortion on demand for 40 years get all prissy about fishing newborns out of toilets and cutting their necks?

Our country has problems, yes, but I’m not sure they’re primarily economic.

Tina Korbe a year and a half ago:

The story of Kermit Gosnell is, perhaps, one that even well-meaning people would prefer to block out of their minds. After all, as a Philadelphia grand jury report put it, to talk of Gosnell is to talk of “a doctor who killed babies and endangered women.” Recall this most sickening habit of his: Gosnell would purposely induce the premature births of babies and then “snip” the spines of those premature — but living, breathing, viable — little persons to, as he put it, “ensure fetal demise.” In four decades, Gosnell killed hundreds and hundreds of babies in this way, collecting their severed feet in jars as evidence of his evil.

Michelle Malkin seven months ago:

President Obama can take time out of his schedule to console and promote Fluke in the name of women’s health and safety. But he has nothing to say to the dozens of black female victims and their families in Philadelphia who suffered at the hands of convicted abortionist butcher Kermit Gosnell.

Elizabeth Scalia three months ago

Recall that the only reason we ever heard about monster-abortionist/baby-feet collecting Kertmit Gosnell was because of an investigation into drug charges. Absent that investigation, we’d never have known about the filth, incompetence and reckless disregard for human life that comprised his profitable “services” to “women in need.”

Mark Steyn a month ago:

Gosnell’s murderous regime in Philadelphia reflects on him. The case’s all but total absence from the public discourse reflects on America.

The Blaze last month

A medical assistant told a jury Tuesday that she snipped the spines of at least 10 babies during unorthodox abortions at a West Philadelphia clinic, at the direction of the clinic’s owner.

Ace last month

This story really is hard to read. That may be part of the reason for the very small amount of coverage; but the bigger reason is that this story does illustrate, in ways many would like to not be illustrated, the grim details of abortion.

Redstate last month

I’m profoundly disgusted. It took this poor woman 30 iterations to figure out and admit to herself she was engaged in a hideous crime. You can make it as legal or illegal as you want, but it was a horrid crime. This woman was so blind she couldn’t see the difference between right and wrong. She couldn’t see the difference between murder and “just doing my job.”

She could have lived in The Matrix. It must have killed her inside when she finally woke up and took the Red Pill. May God have mercy on this woman’s dying soul. Now let’s discuss the souls of everyone else.

People knew that Gosnell was violating the terms and conditions of his license. They knew he was violating state laws. But we blur things. His defense attorney points out that Gosnell is black.

“It’s an elitist, racist prosecution,” Mr. McMahon said. “This black man is being taken because of who he is and where he works.”

Jeffrey Dahmer preferred eating his victims to dropping $5 at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Does the fact that Dahmer was white either mitigate or aggravate the circumstances surrounding his crime?

And I found those in minutes.

Just because Salon and the liberal media didn’t feel the need to write about the horrors of abortion does not mean conservatives didn’t.

exit quote:

[Salon’s] article begins, “Piggybacking on Irin Carmon’s excellent piece dismantling the myth that the media has intentionally ignored the case of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor now on [trial] for allegedly committing horrific crimes against his patients . . .”

Who are his patients? Who were they? The mothers? The babies? Who?

What a strange sentence, or phrase: “his patients.”

Curt, the drawing above represents Baby Boy A. For an actual photograph of Baby Boy A:

Prosecution Reconstructs Abortion Room in Court for Gosnell Murder Trial

What kind of person subhuman admits that she played with a live baby a few minutes before slashing its throat to kill it? Why kind of person subhuman can continue to work where you hear live babies scream after they have been aborted, then shove a scissors into the back of their necks to facilitate the severing of the spinal cord, a procedure that requires almost total decapitation?

This is the face of abortion. This is what ever kid in highschool needs to be shown in vivid living color. The left demands that we teach our kids about sex, well then, let’s teach them about the consequenses of sex. Most high school girls think that is just some kind of tumor they are aborting. It’s not, no matter what people like Greggie and Lib1 say. If ever there was proof that that fertilized egg has no ability to become anything other than a human being, Baby Boy A is living dead proof of a nation that has become so immoral we not kill our future.

There’s so much about this case, and the press coverage it hasn’t gotten, that offends me to the core, to the point where I don’t even want to discuss it, knowing I cannot keep a civil tongue in my head…

@Scott in Oklahoma:

Scott, force yourself to look at the photography of Baby Boy A in this article. This is the despicable practice that people like Obama, and Planned Parenthood, support.

Bottom line? No society can survive once life is determined to be of such little value. Just as the Romans.

@retire05: I don’t need to force myself to look, often when I sleep at night I get greeted by the demons I confronted for 30+ years of my own experiences. I have seen that and worse, first hand, and sometimes when the demons come around in the night, even the stench accompanies them. So don’t even try to lecture me Retire, about what I should and shouldn’t see; because I have already seen it, up close and personal.

There isn’t a ball-peen hammer big enough to do the damage to Gosnell that he deserves.

Click my nic for the main site. It’s the only site online thoroughly covering the Zimmerman railroading.

Also it”s a great blog with a great, Breitbartian commentariat.

Regarding that picture of the empty media seats at the Kermit Gosnell trial:

“Instead of reporting on the absence of reporting. If they want to really ‘out media’ the media and simutaneously actually “push back” against that which they rail against; Then why not use judo instead of karate?

What would be more effective? Showcasing the absence – OR – filling the void? What do you think would be the outcome if one one day a bunch of people walked in to fill these benches? People like: Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Jim Hoft, Matt Drudge, TEAM Breitbart, Dana Loesch, Greta Van Sustern, Mike Huckabee, etc… etc….

….All of them, one-by-one- just walk in, and filled those benches.”

PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

@Scott in Oklahoma:

So don’t even try to lecture me Retire, about what I should and shouldn’t see; because I have already seen it, up close and personal.

I think you misunderstood me, Scott. Viewing the photograph was a suggestion, not a direction. I know what you do, and I know that you have seen things no human should ever have to witness.

My link was to put a human face to the story, just as when the human faces of the concentration camps were put to the story, the impact of the horror was all that much greater.

The left will try to spin Gosnell as an aberration, an anomoly, but he’s not. His technique may have been out of the norm, what he did was not. Everyday, in every state in our union, babies are put to death in some horrible fashion as they lay secure in their mother’s womb. Why not just let the mother have the child and then throw that child into the trash heaps as the Roman’s did? Is that any more barbaric?

The left will try to spin their reasons for not covering this story, but the horror of it simply exhibits the horror that is abortion and just like it really doesn’t matter how the Nazis murdered all those people, it only matters that they did. Nazi Germany killed Jews; we kill babies. How are we any different? That is what I am trying to square in my mind.

@retire05: No harm, no foul Retire; I was a little cranky yesterday when I replied.
As to the spin from the left, one of the common traits of liberals is selfishness, “it’s all about ME”. So naturally, they don’t want to talk about situations as disgusting as this one, or any of the other sub-human thing perpetrated by some liberals. And since we are outnumbered, we have quite a battle to fight, one we may not win since we conservatives won’t lower ourselves to the depths needed to defeat them (for the most part).

@Scott in Oklahoma:

Somewhere, deep in the recesses of my heart, I have to have faith that we are still a moral people, and that, as a nation, we will wake up from the stupor we have been in for over a hundred years now.

After WWII, we vowed “Never again”, as did all of the western world, yet we watch as Europe slides deeper into Socialism. France and Greece are gone and Great Britain is standing on the cliff, ready to jump. But when you have true financial equality, who will be left to pick up the tab?

Abortion is nothing more than a clear example of how the left wants to eliminate all personal responsibility. If we are not responsible for our own actions, then it becomes the responsibility of others to bail us out. That is why the left will never answer the question “But why are those people poor?” To do so would show that people are poor, people are uneducated, women have unwanted pregnancies because of their own actions and decisions.

The left are masters at wordsmithing; abortion becomes a “choice,” same sex marriage becomes gay “equality,” you get the point. That is where we conservatives are losing the battle.

I agree Conservatives need to apply their stance against this horror, a good start would be their visibility… actions speak louder than words…

The new question becomes how do we turn this “I’m a victim” mindset around? We’ve been turned on our heads and now it’s those who advocate “personal responsibility” who are the “Evil” in this Nation… !!?!

I can’t help but think there is “Money” to be gained from people’s stupidity, the ‘victim’ game….and the lack of responsibility for one’s own actions…think lawyers, liberal judges, and the blame game…
…. This ‘kind’ of monetary “gain” is truly the “Root of all that is Evil”

God help us…

@FAITH7:

Every Socialist government has been built on “victimhood.” That is how you pit one group against the other, to claim that one group is victimizing the other. And those who make that claim do it not to help the downtrodden, but to gain power themselves. But once that cancer sets in, usually the patient (nation) dies.

Think about this: what is worse? The “rich man’s greed” who gained his wealth through innovation, hard work and dedication to building a company, and who wants to keep the fruits of his labor or………….
the person who assumes no responsibility for their own unwise decisions/actions, and does nothing to improve their fortune, but wants someone else to support them by stealing, via the IRS, the rich man’s wealth to give to them? Welfare is nothing more than greedy, irresponsible people taking what they did not earn from someone else. That, to me, is the epitome of greed.

But these people who epitomize greed are considered “victims” of “others”, pushed by politicians who have plenty to gain from that lie because the “victim” has the same power of the vote as does the rich man who has worked 60 hours a week for most of his life.

I can’t help but think there is “Money” to be gained from people’s stupidity, the ‘victim’ game

It’s not just the money. It’s the power that is gained from pushing a victimhood ideology. Power of being a U.S. Senator/Congressman, power of being President, power of being a judge where your opinion rules the lives of others. The power of control over the lifes of others.

God help us…

A long time ago I was sitting pool side at an apartment complex with some friends. This beautiful girl wearing a t-shirt walked by as every guy at the pool stared at her (I mean she was really, REALLY beautiful) On the front of her t-shirt it said “Prepare for God is coming.” On the back, it said “And He is really pissed.”

I guess that about says it all.

– I read a lot of what you have to say about the issues presented here at FA and you are very articulate and present very good arguments….just wanted to tell you that.

“But these people who epitomize greed are considered “victims” of “others”, pushed by politicians who have plenty to gain from that lie because the “victim” has the same power of the vote as does the rich man who has worked 60 hours a week for most of his life.”

Yes, and there is something very twisted here…and shows how dishonest [many] politicians truly are… their hunger for ‘power’ has warped their judgement and what they were sworn to uphold when taking their oath for the position they have won…that is of course if they have even read, or have any kind of understanding… of the Constitution…and the Law(s) of the Land.

It is also very frustrating…

Thanks and God Bless

Another Mengele that collects souvenirs and jokes about the demise of these innocent victims. How are they going to twist the laws to protect this monster?

In Edmonton, Alberta, a crazed judge ruled with a nonsensical twist- a woman has the right to abort the child in the 4th trimester. A young girl had thrown her newborn over a fence. It was found dead. This decrepit judge invented new law and was not reprimanded. Socialism is so sweet isn’t it?

@FAITH7: Retire05 does not make any ‘arguments’, but merely voices his personal opinions. You believe these opinions because you were predispose to agree with them beforehand. But don’t confuse opinions with statements of fact or logical arguments.

It seems that some of these abortion deaths may have been conducted in an inhumane way. Even doctors are not immune from psychopathology nor sociopathology. Instead of administering drugs that induced cardiac arrest, or some other end result of death, some doctors may—for economics or psychological reasons—may prefer to use the methods stated in this article (we professionally euthanize puppies and kittens more humanely than this). But, I think it’s an error to think these kinds of practices are common within the abortion industry, without proof.

@Liberal1 (Objectivity):

By all means, when we allow for the slaughtering of human babies, let’s make sure that the murders of those children are done in a “human” way, right? Those children were, after all, not wanted and were an inconvenience to their mothers, right? And why not apply that to the elderly who become burdens to their self-absorbed children who are ungrateful ingrates?

Retire05 does not make any ‘arguments’, but merely voices his personal opinions. You believe these opinions because you were predispose to agree with them beforehand. But don’t confuse opinions with statements of fact or logical arguments.

Unlike you, Lib1, who can do nothing but parrot the left wing talking points, I do my research. I noticed that you did not dispute my “opinion” that the left has built its platform on victimhood, generally called class warfare, pitting one selected group against another. Just as the left has kept racism alive and well, they do it for their own advancement, not for any advancement of the groups they claim to want to help.
