From Arab Times of this date…
I thought I would wait a few days to see if this was picked up by the mainstream media in the West. Two days, and it hasn’t.
The story is too long to copy here, so I will copy just a couple of sentences that I think are significant.
However he said: “If our right to enrichment is recognized, we are ready for a trade-off. We would, on a voluntary basis, limit the amount of our enrichment.”
Now, I am a humble guy an I usually do not like to boast, but please see my post made August 26, 2012, “Iran in October”
What I think will now happen, especially if the media is basically ignoring this ploy by Iran, is that Iran will again make the offer, maybe upping the ante a bit.
The final line in my mind is as I said in my post that the last thing Iran wants to do is to deal with Mitt Romney as president. They will try to barter a deal between now and November 6 to influence the outcome of the election.
And unfortunately for us, I believe the sheep of our nation might actually buy into the resulting accoladation of the Anointed One as the new messiah or savior.

Biography of I.B. Wright
Ignatius Ben Wright, born in England to an American GI and a lovely British lass, a true War Baby born before the end of WWII. He left his homeland for the USA as an infant at the end of the war. He grew up in western Pennsylvania, spending his childhood between the city of his parents and the farm of his grandparents. With much of his childhood spent on a small working farm, I.B. understands the work ethic of Middle America well.
Educated in public schools I.B. knew from childhood he would attend college. He first went to Slippery Rock State College, (now University). After a stint in the USAF where he was stationed in Alaska and Texas he returned to Ohio and earned his BS from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Immediately thereafter he began his career in hospital administration. While working he attended Central Michigan University and earned his MA in business management.
He then moved his family, wife and two sons, to Saudi Arabia where he began what was to become a career in international healthcare management and business consulting. After 25+ years abroad, his wife now forgives him as initially the overseas junket was to be only two years. They have lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Pakistan, the Philippines, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Maine, and Alaska.
I.B. has returned to the USA and now spends his time in consulting, reading, writing, photography, US travel, and with his grandchildren. He describes himself as being a God-fearing American conservative with enough brains to get past the media labels on issues.
The US would do right to be friendly and work with Iran to use them as a Shia counterbalance to the Sunni Saudis and Egyptians who have always been more of a threat to the US only less overtly.
Of course to work with any country we must work from a position of strength and control the process and not back down on negotiations or act out of desperation. You must make a country realize it is in their own best interest to be on our good side and horrible to be on the bad. We have the ability to follow through, but lack the serious attitude to do so.
Peace through peace is a dream. If you want peace prepare for war and show that you mean it.

IB Wright
@Drama Only fools ignore the threat of a self-proclaimed enemy. Don’t Chamberlain reality. The lesson from the parable of the frog and scorpion is fitting for your proposal to work with Iran. Ignored is the fact that we are indeed currently in a soft war with Iran. Also forgotten is the death cult that is Iranian leadership. Sleeping with the enemy and somehow thinking good things will come is just wishful thinking. I do agree, if you want peace – prepare for war.
@IB Wright – I don’t think the Persians care who our pres is; their leadership is busy laying plans for the return of the 12th imam Mahdi, regardless of who’s elected. But stalling for time is one of their mo’s, so I can’t discount that.
Regarding an EMP strike, it was discussed in Israeli media. Their military infrastructure and assets are hardened and they said their army engineers could flip the civilian infrastucture in a matter of weeks. In summary, it wouldn’t be too effective. And considering Israeli has nuclear armed subs, Iran would have to be ready to absorb the retaliatory strike. I’d think if they were to go that far, small yield nuclear strikes on Tel Aviv are more than containable with limited cross-border fallout (and to great effect as the Tel Aviv – Hadera Corridor contains ~70% of Jewish population and ~80% of its industrial base).
@mossomo – Thanks for your comments.
However, I think they are somewhat concerned about who is president. Remember the fiasco with Iran and Carter. 444 days they held our embassy staff hostage. I think the day Reagan took office, they were released. Why? I think they did not want to deal with him.
