Ambassador Steven’s blood is on Obama’s hands [Reader Post]

US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens’ fate was determined by Barack Obama.

Obama set these events into motion when he decided Moammar Gaddfi had to go. Gaddafi’s overthrow resulted in the disappearance of countless weapons, including RPG’s and stingers.

Hundreds of surface-to-air missiles have gone missing from Libyan arms depots since the fall of the Gaddafi regime, according to reports.

Around 480 Russian SA-24 man-portable missiles, along with SA-7s and SA-9s, were said to be missing from a commercial storage unit in Tripoli after being moved from the headquarters of Khamis al-Gaddafi’s 32nd Brigade in the early stages of the conflict.

Around 12,000 land mines were also said to have gone missing, and there are fears that the weapons could be used to arm al-Qaida in Africa or the Gaddafi regime in exile.

In April there were reports that pickup trucks had transported SAM-7s, machine guns and RPGS from Libya to Chad and Niger to the South en route to Al-Qaida fighters in Mali.

“The problem is pretty huge. There are around 20,000 surface-to-air missiles in Libya and a hell of a lot of them are missing,” Peter Bouckaert, Human Rights Watch’s emergencies director told The Independent.

And Al Qaida was grateful for that:

A leading member of an al Qaeda-affiliated terror group indicated the organization may have acquired some of the thousands of powerful weapons that went missing in the chaos of the Libyan uprising, stoking long-held fears of Western officials.

“We have been one of the main beneficiaries of the revolutions in the Arab world,” Mokhtar Belmokhtar, a leader of the north Africa-based al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb [AQIM], told the Mauritanian news agency ANI Wednesday. “As for our benefiting from the [Libyan] weapons, this is a natural thing in these kinds of circumstances.”

The claim comes just days after the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling on Libya and its neighbors to secure the loose weapons — including some 20,000 man-portable surface-to-air missiles — before they could fall into the hands of terrorists. The resolution specifically mentioned AQIM as a dangerous potential beneficiary.

So many weapons were procured by Al Qaida that is was able to take much of Mali:

Meanwhile, the fall of Gaddafi caused his arms dumps to be thrown open, flooding Libya with illegal weapons. Unsurprisingly, extremists from across the region seized their opportunity. “Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb,” the North African branch of bin Laden’s terror network, plundered this new source of weapons, becoming so well armed that it was able to capture 300,000 square miles of Mali earlier this year, in concert with local allies.

Libyan weapons have turned up as far away as Nigeria, flowing into the hands of Boko Haram, one of the most dangerous extremist groups in Africa. Israel believes that Libyan guns have even been smuggled into the Gaza Strip. As an unintended consequence of Gaddafi’s downfall, radicals from Algeria to Nigeria – and from Mali to the Sinai Peninsula – have become better armed and more dangerous.

There were warning signs of the impending attack. al-Zawahiri promised retaliation for the loss of his lieutenant:

Ayman al-Zawahiri mourned the death of a leading commander from Libya and urged his followers to puncture the “arrogance” of the “evil empire, America”.

This taped missive first appeared on jihadist websites on Monday. On Tuesday, an armed assault claimed the lives of the US ambassador to Libya and three of his colleagues.

This sequence suggests there could have been more to the bloodshed in Benghazi than a spontaneous demonstration against a YouTube film that escalated out of control. It seems unlikely that an attack could have been planned and executed so quickly in direct response to Zawahiri’s words. But the evidence shows that armed groups in Benghazi have been trying to kill the representatives of Western countries for some time.

On June 11, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at Sir Dominic Asquith, the British ambassador, as he drove through the city. He was unscathed, but two of his bodyguards were injured. Britain responded by closing its diplomatic office in Benghazi and withdrawing all UK staff. Five days earlier, unknown assailants had thrown an improvised explosive device at the gates of the US consulate in the middle of the night, causing no injuries.

Jihadis threatened to burn down the US Embassy in Egypt:

According to El Fagr, they are calling for the immediate release of the Islamic jihadis who are imprisonment and in detention centers in the U.S. including Guantanamo Bay: “The group, which consists of many members from al-Qaeda, called [especially] for the quick release of the jihadi [mujahid] sheikh, Omar Abdul Rahman [the “Blind Sheikh”], whom they described as a scholar and jihadi who sacrificed his life for the Egyptian Umma, who was ignored by the Mubarak regime, and [President] Morsi is refusing to intervene on his behalf and release him, despite promising that he would. The Islamic Group has threatened to burn the U.S. Embassy in Cairo with those in it, and taking hostage those who remain [alive], unless the Blind Sheikh is immediately released.”

Then during the attack Obama’s new best friends in Libya apparently gave Stevens up:

According to a CBS News report updated at 8:39 am Eastern time Wednesday, the Libyan security forces hired to protect the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya moved Ambassador Chris Stevens to a second building within the consulate, then told the militant crowds where he was:

Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi, said the four Americans were killed when the angry mob, which gathered to protest a U.S.-made film that ridicules Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

He said Stevens, 52, and other officials were moved to a second building, deemed safer, after the initial wave of protests at the consulate. According to al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seem to have indicated to the protesters the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack.
Stevens, 52, was the first U.S. ambassador to be killed in the line of duty since 1979.

Yet despite all this Obama did not even provide Stevens with a Marine guard:

The consulate where the American ambassador to Libya was killed on Tuesday is an “interim facility” not protected by the contingent of Marines that safeguards embassies, POLITICO has learned.

Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed with three other Americans in an attack on the U.S. consulate in the city of Benghazi, where Libyan rebels ousted strongman Moammar Qadhafi last year.

Marine Corps spokeswoman Capt. Kendra Motz said that Marines were not posted to the consulate, unlike the embassy in the capital, Tripoli.

A defense official told POLITICO on Wednesday that the Pentagon is sending an elite team of about 50 additional Marines, called a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team, to reinforce the embassy.

A senior administration official Wednesday called the Benghazi consulate “an interim facility,” which the State Department began using “before the fall of Qadhafi.” It was staffed Tuesday by Libyan and State Department security officers. The consulate came under fire from heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades at about 10 p.m. local time on Tuesday. By the time the attack ended several hours later, four Americans were dead and three others had been injured.

The Benghazi consulate had “lock-and-key” security, not the same level of defenses as a formal embassy, an intelligence source told POLITICO. That means it had no bulletproof glass, reinforced doors or other features common to embassies. The intelligence source contrasted it with the American embassy in Cairo, Egypt – “a permanent facility, which is a lot easier to defend.” The Cairo embassy also was attacked Tuesday.

And they knew Stevens was coming

As for the theory that the fatal incident was sparked by the YouTube video, no other protests of this kind are known to have occurred elsewhere in Libya. No mob gathered outside the US Embassy in Tripoli, the usual base of Chris Stevens, the late ambassador which, on the face of it, would have been a more logical target. Instead, the focus of the anger was the consulate in Benghazi, at a time when Mr Stevens happened to be visiting.

While Stevens was being dragged through the streets of Benghazi, Barack Obama was partying it up with Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Shockingly, Obama decided to attack Mitt Romney before he condemned the attacks on the Embassies.

Obama hasn’t had a security briefing in a week. Maybe things could have been different had he paid attention.

There is no excuse for this. Barack Obama was negligent. He’s put his fund raisers and his re-election campaign before anything- including the security of Americans. He’s too busy for that.

Obama has Chris Stevens’ blood on his hands, not Mitt Romney.

@Kat Brown: I guess the best thing I can say is that you are very naive. Very Very naive

@Greg:

if a president has comprehension problems.

LOL are you serious. EC has no comprehension problems, he doesn’t know what that is.. There are levels of stupid, we have yet to decide his.

@Kat Brown: “many are willing to kill you for how they feel. ”

Liberals demand tolerance, while out of the other side of their mouth, they condone murder. What do you expect from a group that are so low, they are okay with killing unborn babies en masse because no man or woman should ever have to accept the consequences of their immoral actions. Just like the Muslims shouldn’t be held to blame for their immoral actions.
