The Empty Chair – Clint Eastwood Speaks [Reader Post]

Loading

Well, the convention is over and time to campaign
Dispute the garbage about a company called Bain.
Gear up for abuse to come from the Dem’s convention
With all the negative stuff and their condescension.

Take a look back at your convention just ended,
Know it was a show that was damn near splendid.
Look back on the highlights and you will recall
That one shining moment, the best speech of them all.

You may call him Rawhide or maybe Josey Wales
Even Dirty Harry of those great detective tales.
For sure he will be remembered for his parody
With a chair where Obama was the absentee.

You may agree that it was a superb performance
But for sure it was an excellent conformance.
You might “Feel Lucky” and have your day made
But he nailed Obama as an empty chair portrayed.

Enjoy Eastwood, unfortunately opie does not “feel lucky” right now. Nato is a joke, talk tot he troops going back. The germans would not fight if it, rained, overcast, frost, fog, left over rain from the previous night, weekend stated on Thursday pm. So in a good week-maybe 1 1/2 to 2 days. They played a lot of soccer.

Saw this this morning and wanted to share…

The Top Ten Reasons Why An Empty Chair Is Better Than Obama
10. An empty chair can’t go golfing.
9. The empty chair doesn’t miss meetings with it’s jobs council.
8. The empty chair doesn’t have a First Lady that takes expensive vacations.
7. An empty chair can’t bow.
6. The empty chair doesn’t eat Fido.
5. The empty chair doesn’t apologize.
4. An empty chair can’t borrow money from China.
3. An empty chair can’t issue Executive Orders.
2. An empty chair can’t destroy the economy.
And the #1 thing that makes an empty chair better than Obama… It doesn’t talk so it can’t lie.

Hat tip to Gags!

PS- I thought the best take on Clint’s bit with the chair came from American Thinker’s Ed Timperlake:

I’m very impress with your biography, which meant a lot of brain and effort,
yes that make you a CONSERVATIVE,
GOOD POST ALSO, I liked CLINT EASTWOOD, smart display of what a speech would have been,
he turned it into an art form, interesting even his silences where meant to prepare the listener for the next and next and next bullet to hit the target,
thank you for giving me the stage a few seconds on this rare performance of CLINT EASTWOOD.

For those who don’t know, Tomorrow has been designated National Empty Chair Day. Even Michelle Malkin has picked up on the phenomenon: Monday is National Empty Chair Day.

@John Cooper:

Thought you’d enjoy this in response:
BREAKING… Obama orders all chairs destroyed!

where are you, come down on the DAY OF EMPTY CHAIR,
I can’t wait to see your take on it.

SEMPERFI. Eastwood..no man is left behind..

Have a great day and be proud to be an American.

Alan Jackson can offer the following in 8 days, but it rings true every day for those of us who were there.

Take pride in being an Amarican. Not seeing a US flag for 18 months is tough on the spiit
But on August 5, 1968, after two arterilly stikes on our own position aad two runs by Puff the magic dragon”, the flag was still there..little beat up but there.

Alan Jackson:

Where were you when the world stopped turning That September day?
Out in the yard With your wife and children Workin’ on some stage in LA?Did you stand there in shockAt the sight of that black smokeRising against that blue sky
?Did you shout out in angerAnd fear for your neighborOr did you just sit down and cry?
Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved onesOr pray for the ones who don’t know?
Did you rejoice for the peopleWho walked from the rubbelAnd sob for the ones left below?
Did you burst out in prideFor the red, white, and blueAnd the heroes who died Just doing what they do?
Did you look up to HeavenFor some kind of answerAnd look at yourself
And what really matters?
I’m just a singer of simple songsI’m not a real political manI watch CNN but I’m not sure I couldTell you the difference in Iraq and IranBut I know Jesus and I talk to GodAnd I remember this from when I was youngFaith, hope and love are some good things He gave us And the greatest is love
Where were you when the world stopped turningThat September day?
Teaching a class full of innocent childrenDriving down some cold interstate?
Did you feel guiltyCause you’re a survivorIn a crowded room did you feel alone?
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that Bible at home?
Did you open your eyes, hope it never happenedOr close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset the first time in agesOr speak to some stranger on the street
?Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrowGo out and buy you a gun?
Did you turn off that violent old movie you’re watchingAnd turn on I Love Lucy reruns?
Did you go to the church and hold hands with some strangerStand in line and give your own blood?Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family Thank God you had somebody to love?
