Soledad O’Brien: Me? Biased? [Reader Post]

Loading

Back in March Soledad O’Brien attempted to rewrite history to protect Barack Obama and was roundly criticized for it. As noted back then, O’Brien is very obviously an Obama/liberal sycophant yet she insists otherwise.

“I don’t think I show bias in my TV show. I think I am aggressive with people about trying to find the facts behind what they say,” O’Brien said. “Am I a liberal or conservative? I’m neither. Like most Americans, I find politics very frustrating. Like most Americans, I’d like to hear from politicians the facts. That is what drives me.”

Self-deception can be very cruel.

In an exchange with Romney representative Barbara Comstock O’Brien was seen reading from TPM talking points

Following her being caught reading from TPM talking points she largely denied it

“Editorially, I was not reading off the Talking Points Memo.”

Then O’Brien get into an exchange with Romney rep former Governor John Sununu and he just let her have it

Rush Limbaugh has the transcript:

SUNUNU: I have Congressional Budget Office report right here.

O’BRIEN: (snickering)

SUNUNU: It’s reduced revenue.

O’BRIEN: I can tell you what it says!

SUNUNU: Yes, it cuts a reduction in the expected rate of growth, which you know.

SUNUNU: No, ma’am!

O’BRIEN: Not cutting budgets to the elderly. Benefits will be improved.

SUNUNU: He gutted it.

O’BRIEN: The focus is on hospitals. The focus is on health insurance.

SUNUNU: He gutted the program by $711 billion —

O’BRIEN: (scoffs)

SUNUNU: — and the fact is he reduces services.

O’BRIEN: The expected rate of growth is being cut!

SUNUNU: Soledad, stop this! All you’re doing is mimicking the stuff that comes out of the White House and gets repeated on the Democratic blog boards out there.

O’BRIEN: (snorts) I’m telling you what FactCheck.com (sic) tells you.

SUNUNU: If you’re going to mouth what comes out of the White House, put —

O’BRIEN: I’m gonna… I’m telling you what CBO tells you.

SUNUNU: Put —

O’BRIEN: I’m telling you what —

SUNUNU: Put —

O’BRIEN: — CNN’s independent analysis does.

SUNUNU: I’ve got the CBO report right here!

O’BRIEN: And I’m telling you what it says.

SUNUNU: Put an —

O’BRIEN: I’ve read it several times.

SUNUNU: Put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead when you do this.

Pow!

Romney’s right.

On July 24, the Congressional Budget Office sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, detailing the budget impact of repealing the Affordable Care Act. If Congress overturned the law, “spending for Medicare would increase by an estimated $716 billion over that 2013–2022 period.”

As for O’Brien not being biased, I’ve never seen her go to bat for any Republican. Ever.

She had trouble reporting on the warm fuzzy stuff when she first started on weekends!

Yes – she really is that stupid. AND, she thinks we are too.

These so called journalists should be ashamed of what they have done to the news. Years ago when you watched newsmen like Cronkite and Huntley and Brinkly and the rest of them they never showed what party they were for and never gave their thoughts about the candidates…..Today they are just plain nasty…..

I could be wrong, but from what I’ve read, she didn’t say that she wasn’t biased, only that she doesn’t think she shows bias. Big difference.

Millions of liberals who continue to vote Democrat, just as their parents did, and just as they have, are sticking their heads in the sand. Why? Because they are choosing to not hear the evidence of the MSM being in the can for Obama, and that Obama is more socialist than liberal. This is evident by their change in tone about Romney being “extreme”, even though he was anything but that before he became the presumed winner of the GOP nomination.

What more proof does anyone need than the MSM’s complete change in attitude towards Romney?

“Editorially…” What did she mean by that? Is that a weasel word?

The $700+ billion that Republicans charge as cuts represent waste, fraud, and duplication of benefits which Obama returns to the health care system. Romney/Ryan exhibits the same cost cutting, except they return it to the upper class in the form of tax cuts.

@Liberal1 (objectivity): Considering it’s the “upper class” (as you put it) that actually pay the taxes, perhaps it’s only fair to give ‘them’ their money back.

Full disclosure: Although I’m at the bottom of the 50% that pays taxes, I do receive a return each year due to over payment throughout the previous fiscal year. I do that intentionally to avoid an unexpectedly higher than usual state tax bill. That happens a lot in California.

@cubiclecommando: But should Romney/Ryan steal from Medicare—an offense they claim Obama to be doing—to give to the people who are in the one-percent of the highest income status? Are you one of those righties who secretly believes in monarchy?

@Liberal1 (objectivity):
I doubt he does, but leftists sure believe that “educated people” like them are superior to everyone else and therfore should be calling the shots.Their complaints about democracy getting in the way are sickening.

@Liberal1 (objectivity): Huh? The use of non-sequitors and strawmen is your best response? Not to mention an unhealthy dollop of projection.

What is your source for the phrase, ” give to the people who are in the one-percent of the highest income status?”

So, it’s okay when the magic zero removes 700+ billion from a medical program designed to help our nation’s most experienced generations is shifted to a massive new burocracy that a majority of the citizenry does not want, yet under the Ryan plan, which seeks to reduce the waste of tax-payer money and allow the people enrolled in the program the opportunity to choose their own plan, is considered ‘stealing?’

As for “believ(ing) in a monarchy,”… ????? Isn’t it the current resident that loves to use executive power to change laws when he knows his policies are unpopular at best and at worst, close to unconstitutional?
I’ll take our representative republic administered by those that understand and respect the expressed limits placed upon them by the Constitution any day.

@Lib1

Are you one of those righties who secretly believes in monarchy?

That’s hilariously hypocritical, coming from a Peasant enthralled by the Democrat Feudal Fiefdom.

I’ve enjoyed watching Soledad for years, all the way back to the Today show. It is clear that during this election process that she is no long providing clear and balanced reporting and is now literally abusing her position in the media to promote her bias. I no longer respect her as a media professional and turn the channel whenever she is on.
