Bill Clinton hands Mitt Romney the Presidency [Reader Post]

With friends like this….

If he could somehow get hold of his hair, Barack Obama would surely be pulling it out right now. Obama has made it clear that the direction for his re-election campaign is to attack Mitt Romney on Bain.

Obama camp doubles down on Bain attacks

(CBS News) Attempting to drive home the message that Mitt Romney is a corporate executive concerned with the bottom line and not American jobs, the Obama campaign released a new video on Monday attacking Romney and Bain Capital for laying off workers at an Indiana office supply factory.

It’s a loser. Bill Clinton just made it a huge loser.

Many democrats object to attacks on Bain and on private equity.

Deval Patrick

Host Willie Geist had asked Patrick whether Romney’s past at Bain at all impacted “the way he governed or drew up policy.”

“I think that the issue isn’t about Bain,” Patrick responded. “It’s about whether he’s accomplished, in either his public or private life, the kinds of things he says he wants to accomplish for the United States. And when it comes to growing jobs in the public sphere or fixing government, the record on that is not very strong. In fact, I would say that there is one profoundly important thing that Governor Romney did when he was governor of Massachusetts, and that’s to sign the health care reform bill.”

Jeff Bussgang

But the attacks against Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital—by both his Republican brethren and Democrats—and the demonization of the private equity industry are really starting to annoy me. I won’t vote for him for president based on his policies and the policies of the party he represents, but I believe Mitt Romney’s business track record at Bain Capital, and the private equity industry as a whole, is deserving of a full-throated defense.

First, Bain Capital is a great firm.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA)

This morning on MSNBC, former venture capitalist Sen. Mark Warner D-Va. admitted that Bain Capital was “very successful” and “did what they were supposed to do.”

When asked about whether attacks on private equity were fair, Warner said that he was “proud” of his previous career in the private sector but noted that public service required a “different skill set.”

“Bain Capital was a very successful business. They got a good return for their investors. That is what they were supposed to do,” Warner said.

Cory Booker

“It’s nauseating to the American public,” Booker said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Enough is enough. Stop attacking private equity.”

Artur Davis

It’s hard to imagine a more instructive couple of days for those who want to know where the Democratic Party’s head is at: its only high-profile African American moderate just got a brushback pitch for leaning in too close to the Independent thought zone; the Obama camp looks ominously like a cult of personality that tolerates no dissent; and the reelection campaign just doubled down on the European leftist notion that business is fair only when it operates in a sanitized, risk free manner.

Even Steny Hoyer

Then there is the irony of Obama harping on private equity while fundraising at the home of the CEO of a private equity firm.

But nothing is as damaging as Bill Clinton.

On the one hand Clinton proclaims that he believes Obama will win “big” and then on the other hand tells Obama to stop attacking Bain:

Former President Bill Clinton predicts that President Obama will win re-election by “five or six points,” but also suggested last night that the incumbent stop attacking Mitt Romney’s private equity work at Bain Capital.

“I don’t think we ought to get into the position where we say, ‘this is bad work, this is good work,'” Clinton said on the Piers Morgan program on CNN.

Clinton not only said that Romney was qualified to be President but that his business record at Bain was “sterling.”

Clinton told guest host Harvey Weinstein that Romney is qualified for president.

“There’s no question that in terms of getting up and going to the office and basically performing the essential functions of the office, a man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold,” Clinton said.

That’s got to cause Obama some serious acid reflux. democrats are ripping out of underpinning of the Obama’s entire central campaign theme but Clinton’s words will just kill it.

With the news this morning that unemployment is up and jobs are down, I think Clinton just handed Romney a victory.

And that’s great news for the country. Happy Friday!

Say what you will about Bill, in the end he was a canny and at times very pragmatic politician. When the UN and Euro’s wouldn’t stand against genocide in the Balkans, no matter how hard he suggested at them or nudged them, he finally saw the light and took the leadership role and I’ll always respect him for that if nothing else.

If given the opportunity I wouldn’t turn down having a “beer summit” with Bill…but just can’t see it happening with the delusional ideologue that currently occupies the White House. Some may say there is no difference between the two, but I see a world of difference.

Maybe we had to have this outrageous Obama so that we could appreciate what an honestly “American” Democrat Mr. Clinton was.

(btw – none of these Clinton statements apply to Mrs. Clinton, just sayin’)

Just goes to show that it takes all kinds. The one thing Bill did that I detest the most was interfering with the Yugoslavians for trying to stem the muslim invasion just like they did in medieval times. It absolutely, categorically was none of our business, just like Libya, Egypt and Syria, the Balkans was/is of zero strategic importance to the US.

As for the matter at hand, anyone who doesn’t think there’s at least a 40% chance that it will be Hillary topping the Democrat ticket hasn’t paid attention to how the Clintons operate, or how the socialists in general operate, think Stalin v Trotsky.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Slick Willy doesn’t take his morning constitutional without making sure it benefits him politically. You can be sure this was a scripted moment on his part.

I think the author of this Reader Post did a very good job.
But I agree with the piece for another reason that I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED– The Clinton’s are POWER BROKERS, Basically HATE EACH OTHER, stay married because it’s a marriage that benefits both of them whilst a divorce would hurt both of them (Ever see the two together? Case closed), and that Hillary OBVIOUSLY HATES OBAMA (Who lost to Obama in the Dem Primary? Hmmmmmm) and Bill Clinton equally HATES Obama but will “Diplomatically” destroy Obama, not making the destruction “personal.”

Look, it’s LAWYERS Obama is dealing with here.

HOWEVER, THAT BEING SAID: I think that as long as the polls show Romney and Obama at basically 50/50, Romney will win this election comfortably. Why?

(And THIS is a subject that a reader should write a post about. I’m kind’a busy in the Summer with my Veteran Charity Groups).

Because there is still 1/4 of the two “Presidential Tickets” missing.

Romney has not yet named a running-mate.

I expect that announcement SOON because doing so will double his ability to campaign, will result in more donations, and will solidify Conservative support for the Romney Ticket.
(I expect this mate to be MORE Conservative than Romney).

Folks, trust me on this: Republican “Super-PAC’S” are going to out-raise Obama’s by at least a margin of 2-1.

Obama’s big money people are jumping ship like rats (Even MoveOn is close to insolvency, Soros and all).

This Video was produced by one such Super PAC:

So was this one:

Guess what happens when “Undecided Americans” start seeing this non-stop in Battleground States.

These are the groups that can get the message out.

And for the Love Of Country, would you PULEEEZE attend a Tea Party Rally? Thanks. I’ll be there.

Mittens in ’13, Hitlery in ’17, that’s slick Willies plan. We can only hope and pray that the Republican Party gets their collective asses kicked by the TEA Party so Hitlery DOESN’T get in ….. EVER.

I do have one other fervent wish that the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia crashes and burns and as it’s burning it takes all the da#m Liberals with it. I want two things, my State and my Country BACK!

Fox reported today that for many of the long term unemployed benefits are soon going to run out. Which means they will be dropped from the number of unemployed the Obama administration counts. The dishonest Team Obama will no doubt continue to tout this as an improvement in the percentage of unemployed Americans.

Bubba despises Obama, and almost seems to be trying to undermine him

Plenty of examples in Ed Klein’s new book- where he is quoted calling Obama an “amateur’

thank you PRESIDENT CLINTON.
AMERICA THANK YOU,
AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE AMERICA THANK YOU,
MITT ROMNEY, 5 MONTHS TO WIN THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS WHITE HOUSE, AND THINGS WILL COME TO HELP YOU FROM ALL SIDES, FOR AMERICA’S BEST YEARS AHEAD,
STAY FOCUS

All the inside politics that is being brought out into the sunlight regarding Obama, has the Clintons fingerprints all over it. have you noticed that all the hard core Clintonista’s are openly knocking Obama. Lanny Davis, Paul Bagala, etc.

Funny thing with Obama being the force for destruction that he is, some seem to want to forget the evil that was the Clinton regime. They are two sides of the same coin.

jainphx
yes of course, their party does not match the CONSERVATIVES
IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, THAT’S WHY OBAMA IS ALREADY ATTACKING MITT ROMNEY,
HE KNOW HE CANNOT SAY NOTHING ABOUT HIS OWN ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN OFFICE,
AND HE CANNOT STAND THE FACT THAT MITT ROMNEY CAN SAY HE DID MORE THAN HIM
WITHOUT BEING YET PRESIDENT, SO IT’S EASY TO FIGURE HOW HE WOULD BRING SUCCESS
FOR AMERICA, AND PRESIDENT CLINTON HAD TO ADMIT IT PUBLICLY, FOR ALL TO KNOW.

@jainphx: You said:

Basically it’s the lesser of two evils.

@Ditto:
I have been asking this question forever: Why don’t we count the “employed” rather than the “unemployed”? The exact numbers are readily available from the IRS for the people employed while the unemployed is just an “estimate.” Well, maybe I just answered my own question. It is much harder to manipulate exact numbers than estimates. With an estimate, in order to get better results for the administration, they just “adjust” the denominator.

Bettijo
hi,
yes , and do they count the public employees with it, because they are increasing with those
employed by OBAMA FOR SPECIAL USE OF HIS REELECTION CAMPAIGN, IT SEEMS TO BE IN MANY HUNDREDS WITH COMPUTERS FILLING THAT BIG 15 HUNDREDS SQUARE FEET SPACE RENTED FOR THEM ONLY TILL ELECTION DAY. ACCORDING TO A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN THERE TO TAKE NOTES AND INVITED BY HUCKABEE A FEW WEEKS AGO.
BYE

@jainphx:

The thing about Bill Clinton is that he, and I’m assuming his wife Hilary is the same, is that they are the penultimate opportunists. For those kind of people, they will have no qualms about doing what is right either. And that is the sum of Clinton’s Presidency. His actions, overall, were calculated in attempts to receive the highest approval, and continued power, for himself, regardless of the judging group’s political, or moral, leanings. As such, he could accept Gingrich’s “Contract with America”, as popular as it was at the time, knowing that by engaging and acting on it, that his overall approval ratings would remain somewhat high.

Obama, on the other hand, is only a part-time opportunist, and never cares what the political opposition, those professional politickers, or the masses of people leaning that way, think and believe. Those people don’t matter to him, which is why he could campaign for, get passed, and sign into law such an unpopular item like Obamacare. That is why he can continue to lie about how that piece of legislation will benefit America. Because in reality, he just doesn’t care about what anyone but himself and those idealists like him think and believe.
