I don’t think so, and Martin’s girlfriend largely exonerates Zimmerman. She told a reporter this:
“Trayvon said what are you following me for?”
“Then the man said ‘what you doing around here?'”
What would you expect a Neighborhood Watch person to ask?
“What are you doing around here?” It’s exactly what you’d expect him to ask.
Then she asserts that Trayvon is pushed, but there is no evidence to prove that, and it is highly unlikely Zimmerman pushed Martin.
The thing is, they had a conversation. Zimmerman did ask Martin why he was there. Ask yourself- if you ask someone why they’re following you and that person asks you what you’re doing around here, how would you respond? I might be tempted to ask “What’s it to you?” and I would expect Zimmerman to respond that he was part of the Neighborhood Watch. Then I would expect Martin to say that he was headed to his girlfriend’s house. Then I might ask “Where does she live?” and he could have told him in which building she lived. And that should have ended it.
But it didn’t go that way.
Someone did push someone else. But who? Let’s look at this reasonably. If Zimmerman was “hunting down” Martin he would simply have shot him instead of engaging him in a conversation. If he meant to “execute” him he could easily have done just that. If you’re “hunting” someone, your gun is drawn. Do you agree to meet with the cops and then go hunting for Martin? Is it common to have a conversation with your prey before you shoot? Are you kidding me?
They had a conversation instead.
What Martin’s girlfriend didn’t say is also extremely important. Mega-important.
She doesn’t mention a gun. Martin saw no gun. That means Zimmerman had not drawn the weapon when he met with Martin. The weapon was fired once but the magazine was full. Something interfered with the cycling, like perhaps a struggle. It’s reported that Zimmerman has claimed that Martin tried to take Zimmerman’s gun.
Given the police report indicating that Zimmerman had grass on his back it’s more the likely Zimmerman was the one who got pushed, and then jumped and pounded by Martin. The eyewitnesses corroborate Martin being on top of Zimmerman, beating him. I think shooting Martin was absolutely the last thing Zimmerman wanted to do.

I think that if this case proves one thing, it’s that too many people jump to conclusions based on very little information, such as the initial news reports containing little in the way of facts regarding the case.
All we, as a people, can ask for is fair and balanced reporting of stories and issues. Unfortunately, that is not what we get. Instead, stories are obtained and the media jumps on them trying to gain the narrative on the story supportive of their ideologies and convictions. In so doing, the media ignores facts counter to their “truth”, does not engage in full fact finding on the stories or issues, and cherry picks items, such as photos of those involved, that are supportive of the narrative they are building.
Add in race to the mix, and you get the race hustlers jumping on the stories before the facts are gathered and inciting anger and even violent rhetoric and action. And when the real facts surrounding the stories start to come out, they are denounced as lies or simply ignored.
I believe something similar happened in this particular case. I believe that only the names of the participants were known by the race hustlers, and that a narrative was built, based on the assumption that anyone with the name “George Zimmerman” MUST be a white guy. As further details filtered out, including Zimmerman’s race, pictures of Martin taken several years ago showing a baby-faced kid were used to hold up their narrative. Zimmerman’s race became the issue, resulting in the media “coining” the term “white hispanic”.
The pushback against the race hustlers’ and media’s narratives was inevitable, with the latest pictures and actions of the teenager put out there. Of course, since that didn’t follow, or support, the narrative built originally, now the past pictures, words, and actions of the two people involved are somehow irrelevant, even as the original narrative was built based on Zimmerman’s past.
The race hustlers have done their job, and done it well. Everyone, I think, can agree that the incident was tragic, and that the death of the teen could have been avoided entirely, whether one thinks Martin had every right to be there or not. The problem is, the original narrative painted both Martin and Zimmerman in such a way that raised the emotional ire of blacks, supported a notion of white oppression over blacks, and deepened the division between the two races. Add in Zimmerman’s hispanic heritage, and the hispanic population becomes involved as well.
Now, Zimmerman may deserve to be charged with manslaughter. Then again, he may not deserve that fate. By all accounts I have seen, the local PD and the state’s attorneys office did their jobs, and are continuing to do them to ensure that neither an innocent man is charged with a crime, nor that a teen’s tragic killing will go unpunished, whichever way the facts point to.
Ignorance and idiocy are occurring due to this tragedy now. From ransacking of stores to “bounties” being placed upon a man’s head, and even within the comments of this site. People who should be supporting the police and attorney’s office to get to the bottom of exactly what happened, have already made up their minds on one man’s guilt, and many are acting in exactly the fashion that the race hustlers first accused Zimmerman of acting. That is, stereotyping and prejudgement of someone as cause to act in a manner not conducive to a polite, peaceful, law-abiding society.
As I said, the race hustlers have done their jobs well.
I can’t help feeling that this is yet another rush to judgment situation where some presumed innocent minority person is harmed by a presumed not so innocent not so minority individual. I’m sure there is a lot more to be discovered when a full and proper investigation of the situation is finally brought to the public.

Actually, what I think this post does, just as Dr.J has been doing, is combating the narrative prevalent within the media and the race hustlers.
It is unfortunate that in order to combat that narrative, that one will be seen as somehow supporting Zimmerman and condemning Martin. I haven’t gotten that from Dr.J’s posts at all, although I confess to not reading every comment he has posted.
You are correct, of course, that we don’t yet know what the real story is. Unfortunately, the race hustlers were out in front of the story, and issuing the judgement upon Zimmerman before any of the facts started filtering out. And if you don’t accept their narrative, complete and whole, you are considered a racist. We’ve seen that here with all of the “guest” posters vilifying Zimmerman and anyone who even questioned the narrative the media, with the help of Sharpton and Jackson, have built.

JG, I draw my conclusion from the fact Dr.J says the video/conversation “exonerates” Zimmerman. It does no such thing.
