There’s a lot of hysteria centering around this incident. I don’t think Zimmerman should have been arrested because that defeats the entire ‘stand your ground’ concept. However, I do think that the police chief should have announced that an investigation was being pursued. I think an investigation is always in order, since some are surely going to take advantage of the any law for their own benefit.

There was another witness that says Zimmerman was being beaten by the kid. The cops say that there were grass stains on the back of zimmermans hoodie along with being wet and the fact his nose was broken and his face bloody also gives credance to his story of defending bimself. I also heard that since they found out that zimmerman is hispanic and has black relatives this isn’t going to be the coups that barry was hoping. It is utterly disgusting that barry is encouraging this behavior and using it for his campaign. even liberals should be ashamed because this is obvious proof that barry will do whatever to pit one American against another to meet his goal. If you don’t feel the slime by now, you are beyond redemption. This incident was about one human being shooting another human being period.

Looks like this isn’t the Great White Defendant that the race hustlers were hoping for.

I saw an article where they called Zimmerman a “white Hispanic”. No, this isn’t going away. They are going after a virtual lynching if they can’t have a real one.

Facts don’t matter, just the perception that the race baiters and media can feed the uninformed.

This could end up being the media’s 21st century Richard Jewell.
Remember that case?

The woman witness, Mary Cutcher, is interesting.
She has willingly gone on TV, radio and to marches where she is a heroine.
But when police tried to get her on record she balked.

When she finally gave a statement to authorities it was in line with Zimmerman’s own account.

Finally, forensics will weigh in on this case.
Probably with the most weight of anything we have read or heard so far.
Thank goodness the preponderance of the public still has respect here for physical evidence.

I wish I knew how to post the picture from here

Why don’t I hear that the Hispanics are being turned against the rascals raising all the hate?

The New Black Panthers, considered a terrorist group by even the far left wing Southern Poverty Law Center, has issued a reward of $10,000.00 for the capture (kidnapping) of George Zimmerman. Not only does the Sanford PD need to make a statement against this, so does the FBI and the DoJ. Florida law enforcement now has the added liablility of protecting Zimmerman, perhaps putting him under protective custody.

And the NBP should be told, in no uncertain terms, that any illegal protesting, riots, etc will find them in jail in a cell next to that race baiter, Al Sharpton.

This is rapidly turning into the Duke LaCross Rape case just so certain people can line their wallets from the outrage they are trying to create.

This is an innocent man and no matter the color of your skin you should respect our laws and let the process that has been established do what it has been established to do. The rest is plain conjecture and racist opinions. All Black and White comments are racist and have no place in this investigation. If the Blacks want to riot, arrest them. If the whites want to defend themselves, protect them.

“Everybody stands for justice. (It) doesn’t matter what your race is. What matters is that we stand for what’s right and stand against what’s wrong,” said Sanford resident Ionnie Johnson.

When Sharpton calls for peaceful protests, Flopping Aces switches to the Black Panthers (?who?)

@Nan G:
We have a similar law in Georgia. Our law more closely resembles the one in Texas. You have the right to meet force with force, including deadly force to protect yourself, home, or property. I don’t believe this has anything to do with race, but I do have an issue with what Zimmerman did according to the accounts thus far. It’s that Zimmerman pursued Martin. You cannot do that under either the Georgia law or the Florida law, nor any stand your ground law I am aware of.

I’m kinda looking forward to the riots.

Dallas- Dallas police have arrested two teens between the ages of 12 and 14 years of age for the murder of a man who was dragged to death by a DART train. But they are still looking for more.

19-year old Octavius Lanier had Type 1 Diabetes and was on his way to meet with a medical counselor Thursday night when he was killed. Lanier was dragged by a DART train duringa robbery attempt in South Dallas.

Lanier was on the DART train when witnesses reported a gang of teens between 12 and 14 years old tried to rob him of his iPod. When Lanier refused to give it up, the boys followed him off the train at the MLK Rail Station in South Dallas. They pushed him off the platform and his foot got wedged between the platform and the train. When the train started moving, he was dragged.

Lanier died from his injuries.

What the article doesn’t tell you is that the gangbangers were black as was Lanier.

Socorro, Texas – Socorro police and the FBI are looking for four men who police say attacked and raped an elderly man who was out on his early-morning walk.

Investigators said the 70-year old man was walking Thursday around 6 a.m. at Valle del Sol Park on Valle Rico Road and Valley Fertil when they said four black men got out of a late 90’s Ford or Chevrolet van or minivan and demanded the Mexican-American man give them money. When he said “No”, they allegedly grabbe him, threw him in the van and raped him.

Socorro spokesman David Garcia said the men yelled racial slurs at the victim as they assaulted him. He said the victim was so badly hurt, he had surgery and is in serious condition.”

No comment from Al Sharpton on these crimes.
No comment from the national media on these crimes.
No comment from Obama on these crimes.

You see, there is no money, no political expediencey in black on black or black on Hispanic crime for the race hustlers. But there is gold in them thar hills for Jackson and Obama over a dead black kid and a “white” Hispanic shooter.

Odd that wesh.com/news had to go out of its way in its article to mention that the protest was “peaceful.” Perhaps it is because we can expect that anytime Al Sharpton gets involved, things rapidly turn violent (i.e. Freddy’s Fashion Mart).

Spike Lee has now Tweeted George Zimmerman’s home address and asked that everyone spread it far and wide.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/spike-lee-retweets-george-zimmermans-home-address/

If 1000 people show up at Zimmerman’s home, drag him out into the street and beat him to death what will happen to Lee? Nothing?

@Aqua:

To make what Zimmerman did in following Martin illegal, you would have to have a specific statute that makes it illegal. Please, provide the Florida statute that provides for that.

Let’s not forget the Third Element here, the gun-grabber contingent. The Brady Bunch is in full cry against the “Stand Your Ground” laws in FL and the other 23 states that have them. They want to squeeze their fair share of political juice out of young Trayvon’s corpse as well. The race-hustlers are happy to carry their water on the chat shows as only evil, racist crackers own firearms, right?

My guess is that Obama initially remembered the lesson of his Cambridge gaffe and sent Jay Carney to call it a local matter. Then the old rabble-rouser reasoned that any distraction from gas prices was a good distraction, no doubt did some quick strategizing with Holder and then put in his oar bigtime. After all, it seems his internal polling has been likely telling him that Sandra Fluke is the only person who’s gonna grub any job security out of the “War on Women.”

As for the MSM? Well, Rodney King was twenty years ago and they are feeling nostalgic for the smell of burning black neighborhoods and the sight of smashed shop windows and bloodied sidewalks. In addition, as we now know, they have regular sitdowns with Valerie Jarret and David Axelrod as well as regular directives from Media Matters. They can be relied upon to pour on as much gasoline as possible.

Of course, the old gang doesn’t own the media quite the way they used to. So far I’ve seen the usual demonstrating, posturing and garment-rending on the part of the usual suspects, but only that. We’ll see how this plays out. George Zimmerman is mighty short on friends at this moment. People like ourselves are hardly inclined to knee-jerkedly rush to his defense, as at the moment, he still does not look like a responsible gun-owner or neighborhood defender. The entire federal persecutorial machine is being turned on him and as we all know nowadays if the gummint wants to put you away… well? “Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime” as comrade Beria put it best.

@Comm0n Sense:

“should respect our laws”

“Welcome To The Jungle…Please Obey Our Laws”

Flashbacks to 1968…

Anyone remember Mychal Bell? Oh, he was a good boy, said his mother, never been in any trouble before. Good student, great kid, wonderful son. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ran to her rescue. Protests were held. Vigils were held. This was a case of racial inequality, white justice being unfair to just ordinary teen aged black boys.

That is, until it was learned that Mychal Bell was already on probation. And that the kids that made up the rest of the Jena 6 were not so angelic.

None of us know what happened in Sanford. But some want to a) claim they do b) make money off this case c) pump up racial tensions in order to line their own pockets. Meanwhile, Channon Christian and Christoper Newsom are still just as dead.

Who’s believing this crap. Plain and simple. It doesn’t matter if there was a struggle for the gun, it doesn’t matter who was screaming for help, it doesn’t matter is Zimmerman isn’t white, what does matter is that Zimmerman, with a gun, was the aggressor. Zimmerman confronted this young man who whipped his ass and Zimmerman being mad and out of control shot Young Trayvon.
And what matters most is the history in America of not placing equal value on the life of a Black Male. It’s been going on since we we’re stolen/kidnapped/sold into the hands of the wicked.
Zimmerman is a Jewish surname:
George Zimmerman is a a so called Latino = Indigenous male of the Western Hemisphere, who has been whitewashed with Latin (Caucasian) culture = white supremacy = Black genocide.
It’s cool. It’s about to all come to a head. Very soon.

And even though I don’t like the “Stand Your Ground Law”, it doesn’t say “Chase Someone Down”. The powder keg of tolerance by the killing blacks without retribution is full to the brim. What are you all asking us to do? The 1st law of nature is self preservation.

All we need now is for Zimmerman to be killed by a Black Panther seeking to collect the bounty. Eric Holder doesn’t prosecute Black Panthers.

@TRUTH:

Zimmerman confronted this young man who whipped his ass and Zimmerman being mad and out of control shot Young Trayvon.

That makes it self-defense. Thanks for playing.

So in your view, the only one allowed self defense is Zimmerman, and not Martin, drj? Interesting concept.

That only seems plausible if Zimmerman ceased stalking a guy doing nothing wrong. There is evidence of his stalking him, and absolutely none that he ceased that activity except for his own claim, drj. This claim, of course, also goes against the cell phone call witness of his female friend, which has Zimmerman approaching Martin.

BTW, for you Santorum supporters out there, he’s now on record via the Sunday talking head circuit saying Zimmerman had a very sick mind and malicious motive. woof…. I tend to think that Zimmerman wasn’t a racist, but an overzealous wannabe cop-in-training who’s misjudgment turned out very very poor. But this is way over the top.

Then again, Santorum as “over the top” has been the norm of late.

Didn’t put words in your mouth, drj. Used your own. You said it was Zimmerman’s self defense…“thanks for playing”, yet ignore that it can actually be Martin’s self defense. That is what will have to be determined by a more thorough investigation… just who tracked down whom and how the altercation began.

If blacks would stop committing 80% of the crime in America, people might stop being suspicious of them. Two hours ago I was grocery shopping in a small supermarket and there were two young black men hanging around the meat counter. They had no shopping cart and they didn’t seem to be looking for anything in particular. They weren’t from around here. It looked to me like they were waiting until customers left the area so they could start stuffing rib-eyes in their baggy pants. I hope the store had security cameras behind that mirrored window behind the counter, ’cause I’d bet money that they were up to no good. I thought of dialing 911 on my cell phone, but said “screw it”.

According to the 2005 Homicide Report of the Chicago Police Department, the murder clearance rate (in terms of an arrest being made within two years of the homicide) has dropped from over 70% for 1991 to under 60% for 2003. Summer months have significantly higher murder rates, and over 70% of murders take place between 7PM and 5AM. The percentage of murder offenders between 14 and 16 years of age has declined from a 1994 high of approximately 15% to approximately 6% in 2005.
In 2005, 75% of murders involved a firearm, and 11% were the result of a stabbing. 41% of domestic murders were stabbings. 10% of murders in 2005 (39) were the result of an armed robbery, 9% were of undetermined cause, and at least 30% were gang altercations. Over 40% of victims and 60% of offenders were between the ages of 17 and 25. 85% of victims and 93% of offenders were male. 76% of victims were African American (77.4% of offenders were), 18.3% were Hispanic (17.3% of offenders), and 5.6% were white (5.3% of offenders). The African American murder victimization rate was approximately 34 per 100,000; the Hispanic rate was 11 per 100,000, and the white rate 3 per 100,000. Over 75% of victims and 88% of offenders had a prior arrest history. 11% of armed robbery victims were female, 50% of domestic victims were female, and 7% of gang-related victims were female. 31% of armed robbery victims were over 45 years old. 29% of domestic-related murders were committed by women. From 1991 to 2005, 19.2% of armed robbery murder victims were white, and only 4.3% of armed robbery murder offenders were white.

(2005) Victims of gang-related murders: 70% African American, 26% Hispanic, 3% white; 93% male. Offenders in gang-related murders: 76% African American, 20% Hispanic, 3% white; 99% male. Victims of domestic-related murders: 79% African American, 10% Hispanic, 11% white. Victims of armed robbery—related murders: 68% African American, 13% Hispanic, 19% white, 89% male. Offenders in armed robbery—related murders: 87% African American, 9% Hispanic, 4% white; 93% male.

No, youth violence isn’t just a Chicago problem. Urban school districts across the country flood school areas with police officers at dismissal time. But youth violence is definitely correlated with race. Though rates of youth killings and shootings vary—Chicago children under the age of 17 are killed at four times the rate of New York children, for example—youth violence is disproportionately a “black problem” and, to a lesser extent, a Hispanic one. According to James Alan Fox and Marc Swatt of Northeastern University, the national rate of homicide commission for black males between the ages of 14 and 17 is ten times higher than that of “whites,” into which category the federal government puts the vast majority of Hispanics. Black juveniles accounted for 78 percent of all juvenile arrests between 2003 and 2008 in Chicago; Hispanics were 18 percent, and whites, 3.5 percent, of those arrests. Recognizing that tough truth is the only hope for coming up with a way to change it.
In Chicago, blacks, at least 35 percent of the population, commit 76 percent of all homicides; whites, about 28 percent of the population, commit 4 percent, and Hispanics, 30 percent of the population, commit 19 percent. The most significant difference between these demographic groups is family structure. In Cook County—which includes both Chicago and some of its suburbs and probably therefore contains a higher proportion of middle-class black families than the city proper—79 percent of all black children were born out of wedlock in 2003, compared with 15 percent of white children. Until that gap closes, the crime gap won’t close, either.

@Keyser Söze: Thank you.

@John Cooper:

You are most Welcome…

Not to worry.
Mr Zimmerman will soon be dead, at the hands of the New Black Panther Party (D-Obama).
That is what a bounty is for.
And there will be no prosecution, as the NBPP has the express imprimatur of Obama.
Holder has told us so.
So Zimmerman will be dead. There will be no justice.
And Obama will campaign on being against whitey.
And the Republicans will fail to campaign on the vicious and unprecedented war on Hispanics being carried out by Obama, Holder, and the NBPP.

By the way, why were vigilantes needed? Were the police not handling things?

@retire05:
Here you go:

776.013 Home protection; use of deadly force; presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm.—
(1) A person is presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another if:

@Aqua:

I assume that is Florida statute? If so, did Zimmerman have an equal right to be in a common area where Martin was? If Zimmerman initiated the scuffle, he was at fault. If Martin initiated the scuffle, did Zimmerman not have the right to defend himself against bodily injury as listed in (d) (3)?

Instead of all the hyperbole and supposition on the part of people who were NOT there, why don’t we just allow the State of Florida to sort it out?

@retire05:

I assume that is Florida statute?

Yes

If so, did Zimmerman have an equal right to be in a common area where Martin was?

Sure. Zimmerman happens to be in an area, Martin happens to be in the same area, and an argument breaks out, I think it is a different situation. I live in a cul-de-sac and we have a neighborhood watch program. If I see cars or people that don’t belong, I have no problem going out to ask them what they are doing here. If they take off running or speed away in their cars, I’m done. I would call the cops, give them a description or a license plate number. I would not run after them or get in my car and chase them down. I have never walked into my office and seen a cop trying to do my job and I’m not going to do it to them. I’m not trained to pursue a suspect and have no legal authority to do so.

Instead of all the hyperbole and supposition on the part of people who were NOT there, why don’t we just allow the State of Florida to sort it out?

I’m all in favor of that. Just as I don’t believe race played any part in the shooting, and people don’t need to jump to that conclusion, neither do I believe people should be jumping to conclusion that this was a justified self defense in line with the stand your ground law. I happen to like the law, a lot. I have a conceal carry permit and I don’t want people screwing up a good law.

Could it be that since this occurred in a “gated community” that there have been a number of crimes occurring in the community. The purpose of a Community Watch is for the members to be aware of all of the members of the community and work together with the Police to protect each other. Some Watches have citizen patrols to help protect the neighborhood. If they were having patrols then I have to believe that they were having a crime problem.

If Mr Martin was in a neighborhood, late at night, looking around, and acting suspicion then Mr. Zimmerman was justified in trying to get close enough to see who he was and if he was a local and part of the community. That is not stalking, it is acting for the good of the community. If Mr. Martin was trespassing–gated communities usually have private streets–then he MAY have been up to no good.

The one thing that I’ve not heard is how far Mr. Martin lived from the crime scene. Could it be that Mr. Zimmerman was attacked because he got close enough to recognize Mr. Martin and might have been able to identify him later. If you are attacked in your own neighborhood when you are simply trying to defend your property, then you don’t want to become a victim. If Mr. Martin did attack Mr. Zimmerman, then he was justified to protect himself. Self defense is a natural right. I don’t know the facts, but I’ve yet to hear anyone put forward this possibility. Which to me–as a President of a Community Watch–sounds reasonable.

@MataHarley: Oh but you did, Mata. I responded to his assertion. The only thing that concerns me is Holder and his predilection not to prosecute “his people.”

A little palate clearing:
Re: the pictures.
They prove absolutely nothing as regards the events of that night. I’ll be the first to say that.
It does prove that the image the media is painting about them both is severely slanted. It also establishes, the kid is not some angel like the media is trying to make him out to be. I am far from wanting to prosecute Tray for the pictures flashing gang signs and such. But I am just as far from wanting to hang a halo on him. Or on Zimmerman for that matter.
The police need to be allowed to do their jobs and report on their findings without all the crappy games the media and the Liberal (BIRM) are trying to play. People need to be very careful about blanket declarations that no one having a right to use deadly force if they were attacked in such a fashion as is alleged, and frankly, as is supported by the physical evidence and the eye witnesses thus far known to us.

This is going to be a tough sell to a grand jury under sober conditions but Eric Holder’s DOJ is anything but sober.

@Aqua:I think you quoted the wrong Florida Statute there. You wanted this one:

776.012 Use of force in defense of person.

—A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:
(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony;

It’s perfectly legal in Florida to use deadly force to prevent great bodily harm. Jeb Bush doesn’t know that the F**k he’s talking about.

@Aqua: This was not a cul-de-sac. It was in a gated community. I don’t live in a gated community, but access to these communities are usually more protected. That does not mean that Mr. Martin could have been visiting someone in the neighborhood, but if he had a justifiable reason to be in the community, then he should not have been defensive. Of course being followed by someone at night could scare anyone no matter how justified they felt in walking down the street. But that did not mean that he had the right to attack anyone. Waiting for the Police would have been the best course of action, that didn’t happen. The Police can not be everywhere, that is why we have community watches.

I already see some push back against community watches in the media. Will they be the next target? I would not be surprised.

Apparently you would get an ass-whipping from Aye for daring to ask why he was there. Might want to make sure you keep that in mind.

I think your analogy of taking off in a car to follow someone out of your cul-de-sac is an apples to oranges comparison. Think more like, you go out to ask the people what/who they are looking for, and before you can get to them they walk over and slip between your neighbors houses into yours and the neighbors back yards. At night. When no one else is there. So, do you walk over, not so much to try and stop them, but just enough to see what they are doing and where they are going.
You wouldn’t do that?

I would and I have. We had a drug house open up on the opposite side of the block across the street from me. The buyers would park on our street and cut between my neighbors houses to go into the drug house via the back door. Twice they had broken into the good neighbors house, and elderly lady now deceased, and once she was home, so they knocked her down, broke her hip, and stole her medications. So we started stopping everyone who would park on our street if we didn’t know them, ask their names and take down their license plate numbers, and followed them to the house they went to. Soon no one wanted to go to that drug house, and the police had all the information they needed to reign hell on a lot of druggies. Crime went way down for many blocks around.

@TSgt Ciz: Great story. That is the reason we formed our watch. Someone kicked in the backdoor of a home down the road from my house and cleaned them out. No one saw a thing. When my neighbor and I started to form it, most of our neighbors did not know each other. Now we know each other and who is suppose to be in the neighborhood. It took a lot of work but I feel safer. You should not have to live in fear. No matter your race.

Now that Obama and his minions have made this into a race issue, it may come back to bite him. Regardless if Zimmerman was right or wrong, if anything happens to him, it will be on the Black Panthers, the rest of Obama’s associates, and Obama himself. One would think that the President of the United States, if he chose to get involved in a local matter like this, would urge cooler heads to prevail and tell people not to jump to conclusions or act rash. Oh well, what does one expect from someone with no leadership skills? Since Zimmerman is Hispanic, the race issue being played up by BHO and associates in this case will be black vs. Hispanic. Alienating the Hispanic community during an election year would be almost as big of a gift to the Republicans as Obamacare and another one of his trillion dollar plus budget deficits.

@another vet:

That’s just it, another vet, the Hispanic part is being played down by the press by calling Zimmerman a white Hispanic, a term we have never heard before. The press, along with the poverty pimps and race hustlers, are doing everything they can to make this a “white on black” crime.

But Hispanics are not stupid. They can look at George Zimmerman and tell he is Hispanic, and sooner or later, this is going to blow up in the black race hustler’s faces. When Malik Sabazz receives a few bags containing the heads of his fellow NBP, compliments of La Familia or the Zetas, it’s not going to be as much fun as he thought it was.

There has been serious black/Hispanic racial tensions in California for a long time now. La Shaun Barber used to write about it all the time. It was always ignored because it is minority on minority crime. No money in it for Sharpton, et al. Florida is not lacking for Hispanic gangs, and sooner or later, the more this is fired up, the two groups are going to clash.

You see, Hispanics don’t suffer from white guilt.

RE: the Santorum comment, (facepalm) what ever happened to the “let’s wait for the facts to come out before commenting on things like this”

@another vet: clearly, Obama didn’t learn ANYTHING from his “Beer Summit”

A white student was murdered allegedly by three black assailants on Saturday in Mississippi. Race is mentioned by neither MSNBC nor Yahoo yet the media had to create a new ethnicity for Zimmerman- the “white Hispanic.”

The student looks nothing like Obama so there’s probably no teachable moment here.

@retire05: Another case of the MSM twisting facts around to protect the chosen one. They are well aware of what would happen should the Hispanic issue be played up. And you are right, the Hispanic community is not dumb. They will hopefully come to realize that the agitator in the WH has been playing them for votes. It’s time to chill and let the facts come out. My own inclination at this point is that Zimmerman tried playing policeman and got in over his head thereby making him wrong. Looking at the links here, there are a lot of conflicting stories hence the reason for an investigation. Saying this was racially motivated at this point is pure speculation. It may have very well been. One thing for sure is, if something happens to Zimmerman, it will be racially motivated.

@DiveCon: He suffers from acute ignorance. He just can’t help himself when it comes to being a divisive agitator. What brand of beer do you think he’ll serve up this time around?

@TRUTH: You make a lot of accusation regarding what happened during this incident. OK Mr. Truth I don’t accept it because you say it. Sho me your proof or shut up!!
