RIP Andrew Breitbart

Loading

I cannot think of a better description of Andrew:

Andrew Breitbart was the Right’s Achilles; the bravest of all the warriors

One of our readers shared her own experience with Andrew which sums up what he did best, waving the red cape in front of them all:

A friend of Andrew called him and said that ACORN was protesting at a local bank. Andrew told his friend “Meet me there.” Andrew parked his car and went to the back of it, lifting the trunk lid. He took out a pair of roller blades, and put them on. When he friend asked what he was doing, Andrew said “Going into the crowd.” Andrew, on roller blades, video camera in hand, went among the ACORN protesters, filming them as he asked them why they were there. No one seemed to know. They just knew that ACORN HQs had called them and told them to protest the bank. They also did not seem to know who he was.

The man was fearless and tireless. He took the fight to our opponents, on their territory, and gave them every opportunity to fight back. More often then not he beat them. That is no small feat with the MSM stacked against the right.

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies. Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

And boy, will he be missed.

Rest in peace Andrew.

Rest in peace, Andrew. Thanks for fighting the good fight and for everything you did for us while you were here.Enjoy your place in Big Heaven.

The world has lost a great man who always was for the truth……RIP

One of the few true conservatives who wasn’t afraid to take on the left. RIP.

So sad to hear the news today…Andrew you are a hero in my book. I cheered you on every time I heard you speak out against those who want to see our beloved America turn into a 4th world country. You exposed so much corruption through your investigative work, and in doing so opened a lot of eyes and ears…Rest in Peace dear friend…you will not be forgotten…and many thanks for the tireless fight! God Bless.

My prayers go out to your family… God Bless.

I wonder if they’ll do an autopsy to see if he died of an overdose?

Sorry for the family but karma caught up to this liar and smear merchant. This country is a better place without him. Can Rush be next? Please?

The fact that wingnuts consider this stiff a great man says a lot about the state of the right in today’s America. A bunch of droids who can be led by the nose with some cheap agitprop. Other than ramping up the division and hatred in his country what did he accomplish? Come on, bring it, best game. Ducky

Liar and smear merchent? You only describe yourself libtardmann. One can truly hope there is such a thing as karma so that it catches up to you.
BTW, saw your links. Only someone as unintelligent and hate filled as yourself would believe them.

Anyone who uses Media Matters as a source has got to be intellectually bankrupt. The regime coordinates the message with them.

Just saw a news flash that the bomb squad was dispatched to Limbaugh’s house tonight. I’m thinking the regime took out Brietbart and tried to get Rush on the same day.

It’s just like a liberal to celebrate the death of anyone with whom they disagree and it’s repugnant, Liberalman. You’re a coward and a sniveling dog. Now you wish for the death of Limbaugh? A pox upon your house.

libzero: I wonder if they’ll do an autopsy to see if he died of an overdose?

libdud: Other than ramping up the division and hatred in his country what did he accomplish? Come on, bring it, best game. Ducky

Dang. Considering that one suggests that Breitbart was a drug addict, and the other thinks that investigative journalism doesn’t rise to an accomplishment like… uh… a hit singing career… I’d say that’s a case for Jerry Brown flying the flags at half staff at the State Capitol.

Since that’s unlikely, I guess we’ll have to settle for yet again seeing the true ugliness of a couple of lib/prog losers that hang around here.

Breitbart’s rollerblading escapades, entering OWS or other protest mobs/crowds armed only with a camera and a great amount of mischief, have been popping up on YouTube.

This one from January 30, 2011 – at an anti-capitalism protest staged in Palm Springs by public employee labor unions, Common Cause and Code Pink.

Sort of a back handed compliment from Slate’s David Weigel can be read here. Weigel was, of course, one of those exposed by the Journolist leak, and he writes about how Breitbart was tenacious in his news interrogation.

Breitbart was, of course, a master at “feeding the media”… both to keep stories alive and prolific, and to get the guilty a chance to trip up.

Breitbart made himself irresistible to reporters. He made himself accessible, too. When ambush interviewers wanted to find him, there he was, sitting in a hotel lobby or drinking with possible allies. One of his strategies was to pass a reporter a part of a story, a possible exclusive, to make sure that it wasn’t just foundering on his Big Journalism network. “Feeding the media is like training a dog,” he wrote. “You can’t throw an entire steak at a dog to train it to sit. You have to give it little bits of steak over and over again until it learns.”

What lesson were we supposed to learn? Back when he staged the JournoList intervention/inquisition, he was trying to tell me that the gatekeeper media was dying. No one could control the news cycle anymore. No one trusted the press anymore. Just declare your bias and get to work, because anybody with a camera or an Internet connection can take you out or show you up. I don’t think Breitbart won his culture war. The political media culture we’re living in now, though, is the one he made.

On Rep. Tom Tancredo’s website, Tucker Carlson repeats the story about the NYC Occupy Wall Street crowd that Breitbart retold to the FA commenter mentioned above…. and added how Carlson and Michael Moore happened to be sitting across the aisle on the same plane on the same day that Breitbart passed.

Andrew was a great performer of course, but I never got the sense that he was a natural extrovert. He pushed himself. He was utterly ballsy that way, willing to do things that scared him. Last year he showed up at an Occupy Wall Street protest on rollerblades. Within minutes, through pure aggression and fast talking, he’d taken command of the crowd. The protest ended when Andrew led the obedient mob to a local chain restaurant for lunch.

Andrew loved a good prank above all. It’s hard to think of a higher compliment.

Yesterday I found myself on a plane across the aisle in the first class cabin from Michael Moore, who was looking miserable with a takeout pizza on his lap. I immediately texted Andrew, mostly because I couldn’t resist. His response: “Give him the phone and say Breitbart wants to say hi.” He couldn’t resist either.

The plane took off before I could set up the conversation. It would have been a riot. Hard to believe that’s the last I’ll hear from Breitbart.

Also on Tancredo’s site, thoughts from Hugh Hewitt, Michelle Malkin, and Glenn Beck.

The fact that wingnuts consider this stiff a great man says a lot about the state of the right in today’s America. A bunch of droids who can be led by the nose with some cheap agitprop. Other than ramping up the division and hatred in his country what did he accomplish? Come on, bring it, best game. Ducky

What an ugly troll you must be, to harbor such deep resentment that you would crash a memorial post with such filth. You make the Westboro Baptist Church protestors seem angelic by comparison.

Andrew Breitbart was a good and decent man, and he will be remembered and admired as a fearless warrior for the rights of trolls like you. That you can neither understand nor appreciate his sacrifice is your sad loss.

Rest in Peace dear Andrew. You and you family are in our hearts and prayers. God speed.

I have no words.

Only this

@liberalmann:

Karma? Have you ever seen or read any of this man’s works? He highlighted the Left’s rampant and fevorus onslaughts against Republicans along with exposing proof that there were manipulation of data to bring forth false stories on Republicans to smear them, Journlist as example. Do you even know what you babble about?

@liberalchild: Once again, proving that you have not one shred of decency in your body.

It has been my little crusade to keep reminding the readers of FA the way in which you acted on the post about the infant that lost his father to the war.

Maybe it didn’t make much of a difference, but judging by comments and emails in my inbox, others agree with me. I have shone a light on your lack of decency, your deceit, lies and attack methods that render you unable to even hold a civil conversation, much less an honest, open debate.

I find the FA community ready to have that open and honest debate and I have seen fellow Conservatives partake in spirited disagreements. Attempts to engage you and liberal1 in the same vein have always, utterly failed. You both are contemptible, shallow, vile and seemingly lacking in the ability to form and voice your opinions in a civil manner.

Let me further say that Curt’s patience has lasted much longer than mine would have.

If you are interested in expanding your horizons, and exposing your philosophy to new audiences, you need to re-evaluate the way you interact with folks.

I am tired of being nice and giving you chance after chance.

@Curt:

One more comment like that and you’re out of here permanently

Why do you tolerate this pond scum? Kick his ass out already.

@Ivan: I have to say that I can finally go on record as agreeing with Ivan on something. I would not be sorry to see liberalchild gone.

@Ivan: Why do you tolerate this pond scum? Kick his ass out already.

But Ivan……pond scum (or ALGAE) is the fuel-of-the-future!
LOL!
Sorry, I could not resist.

@Ivan:

For once, I agree with Ivan.
Maybe there can be some common ground after all.
Curt, I commend you on your tolerance. You have far more than I. I am sure it serves you well in your job.

Good riddance!!!

@Hard Right:

Curt, I commend you on your tolerance. You have far more than I. I am sure it serves you well in your job.

But why tolerate that in the first place? His comments were beyond the pale.

@Hard Right: Really? You’re actually playing ‘I know you are but what am I?’ Smart! And that’s all you have to say? Pwned!

@Jarhead68: Anyone who refuses to see the truth for fear they might just learn something and experience cognitive dissonance is just stupid.

Read the link and tell me what is not true. It’s all about facts. I dare you.

@Ariel: Lol! Did you say this with a straight face?

@Curt: It’s obvious I am the only liberal who posts here which upsets your readers who seem to just want their own little circle jerk of hate, fear and lies. If you want to ban me, go right ahead. It’s your blog and I understand how you don’t want other points of view to get in our way. It’s the usual tactic of wingnuts. I post facts here and get attacked viciously becasue they can’t counter intelligently. But I can take it. I’m a veteran. I don’t cry to you to ban them, do I? If you ban me I’ll take that as evidence that you’re embarrassed by being PWNED, lol!

@liberalchild : So how was it “selective editing” when the ACORN Tax Specialist told Ms. Giles and Mr. O’Keefe that they could use the IRS tax code for Performance Art to “legalize” their income from prostitution?

ACORN Prostitution Investigation – James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles – Part 1

As for the Shirley Sherrod case, well even the NAACP is afraid to post the full, unedited video, as you can see here at the 20:59 mark.

@liberalmann: Your little rant does nothing to give yourself any credibility. It is an amateurish, pathetic attempt at reverse psychology.

Like I have been saying, you need to stick to attacking fatherless infants, that is really what you are best at. It bodes much better for you when the targets of your idiocy are unable to fight back.
.
.

Oh, get over it goober. The issue at hand is Breitbart’s lies which you can’t refute.

Big Falsehoods: An updated guide to Andrew Breitbart’s lies …
mediamatters.org/research/201007210054

@liberalchild: What’s the matter? You having trouble defending ACORN’s actions in those videos?

As far as I can tell, the issue at hand seems to be your penchant for bomb throwing and inability to form a coherent argument to state your position on any topic. Of course that really isn’t your fault, I suppose. I mean to formulate a cogent argument, one must first have an original thought.

liberalmann says: 25

: Lol! Did you say this with a straight face?

Absolutely. In case you misunderstood me the first time., let me clarify it for you. I find you to be an obnoxious, ugly troll whose only role at this website is to malign and defame conservatives for your own personal amusement, self aggrandizement and profit, assuming you’re being paid by Media Matters or some other Soros front group. Should that be the case, they should demand a refund and an apology for making liberals look like such jackasses. Who knows, maybe the donkey is the perfect symbol for the Democrat party after all, for it seems to fit you just fine, you braying a$$.

@Ariel: Kudos!!!!!!
