No you don’t, sparky [Reader Post]

Keith Koffler has let us know that Barack Obama is taking 2012 off from Congress:

“In terms of the president’s relationship with Congress in 2012,” Mr. Earnest said at a briefing, “the president is no longer tied to Washington, DC”

Obama has decided that being President is simply not good enough and has appointed himself King.

But when Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as President to do what I can without them. I’ve got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people. And I’m not going to stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people that we were elected to serve. Not with so much at stake, not at this make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans. We’re not going to let that happen.

No you don’t, sparky. James Madison, Federalist 47:

“When the legislative and executive powers are united in the same person or body,” says he, “there can be no liberty, because apprehensions may arise lest the same monarch or senate should enact tyrannical laws, to execute them in a tyrannical manner.”

Some of my fellow authors here tend to dismiss my concerns of the abuse of power by Obama, but I am undeterred. Not long ago Obama said this

“Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you not just on immigration reform. But that’s not how our system works,”

Paging Jim Geraghty!

Nothing Barack Obama says at any time has any meaningfulness or durability. Nothing.

As my son points out to me- if Obama is this brash in his first term, what would a second term bring???

A couple of days ago I posted a story about how Obama does in the polls comparing when he is making lots of public appearances VS when he is not on the TV.
Obama does better with polling when he is off the radar, and TV screen.
So, this decision is a major muck-up in many ways for him.
He will be seen….a lot.
AND he will NOT be doing anything substantive!
Double whammy!
How long before this trial balloon crashes to the hard ground of reality?

3…….2……….

I want to think the AMERICANS HAVE A LIMIT, THAT IS NOVEMBER 2012,
BECAUSE THEY ARE SO TOLERANT AND WELL MANNERED, THEY ARE ALLOWING HIM ALL THE ROPE
HE WANT TO HANG HIMSELF, WHEN THEY RAISE THAT ROPE UP TO THE CEILING.
THAN, AMERICA WILL LIVE IN PEACE WHILE MENDING THE WIDE RIDGES FOREVER AND NEVER
TO BE BROKEN AGAIN.

So what does Congress intend to do about this usurpation?

@John Cooper:
Is it ”usurpation,” or is it abdication?
From what I can tell, the US Senate has abdicated almost all of its Constitutional responsibilities.

Dr. John,

I too have thought what you have expressed so well. Is this not what is called a “constitutional crisis” the founders spoke of? What do common citizens need to do? How do you control this behemoth?

They are not listening. Not the Democrats, not the GOP establishment. Time to throw some tea in the harbor.

This requires some thought: How to hit our wannabe ruling class where it lives, with creative non-cooperation with their program. The events of 2010 showed some of the possibility. But that wake-up call is being evaded. Have to make it harder to evade.

Everbody withhold paying their taxes in April. I know this would not happen but it would send a message to Obummer, and all of DC.

We can be suspicious of Obama’s motives, but don’t forget our representatives are refusing to call him on his dreams of power and tyranny. They are more than willing to play along as long as they can play the insider trading game like cheap conmen. They deserve to all be fired if they are willing to even let Obama test the water temperature for his dreams of totalitarian control, and that is what he is doing, testing America to see how we respond to the benevolent dictator offering a paycheck to everyone who is too lazy to work.

@Galloway: It would send a message, but they could easily ignore it. Our deficit is being funded by the Fed, these days.
