The Always Classy Liberal Alan Colmes Takes Cheap Shot At Rick Santorum

Loading

This is unspeakable. Alan Colmes was answering a question about Santorum, specifically if he thought voters would stick with Santorum. Alan Colmes answer was unforgivable:

“Playing with it”

Thankfully Rich Lowry took him to task for such a crass, contemptible characterization of the parents of a baby boy wanting his siblings to actually see the brother who had lived and died. To actually see and hold their brother before buring him instead of just hearing about him. They didn’t “play with him”…As Rick Santorum later explained on Hannity today:

“Karen was a neo-natal intensive care nurse for nine years and one of the things that Karen taught me, and that she learned from that experience, was that you have to affirm the live of your child. You have to affirm that memory for your children and for you, and to recognize the dignity of that life and to make sure that that child is forever part of your family.”

Here is the reaction from the Santorum’s when they were told what Colmes had said:

At a Pizza Ranch restaurant in Newton, Iowa, a member of the audience asked Santorum to react to a controversial attack leveled by liberal Fox News contributor Alan Colmes, who called the Santorum family’s approach to grieving for their dead baby boy, who lived for only two hours after his birth in 1996, “crazy.”…

[I]n Iowa this afternoon, Santorum explained that it was important for his other children to “know they had a brother.”

Santorum’s wife, Karen, who was at the event and listened to her husband talk about the experience, began to weep.

“It’s just so inappropriate,” she said as tears streamed from her eyes.

There are not many lines left to cross in politics, but Colmes crossed one of the few left I believe.

And that’s why he apologized. Which is what he should of done.

But this all comes down to the same ole’ same ole’ kind of attack from the left….Conservatives are religious nuts. They attacked Palin and her kids in the same way. Nothing is off limits for them, and no cross to sacred to cross.

Way to go Skippy!

Skelator wanted to get a good start on his quest to win “D#ck head of the year” award for 2012.

Apparently serious about winning it this year and bringing his “A” game.

We happen to live near one of the nation’s best premie wards.
I have learned over many years how often parents do what the Santorums’ did: take their dead baby home for those who were never allowed in the hospital to see him/her to finally see their baby brother or sister before the funeral.
Apparently hospitals stick to their guns about not letting small siblings visit premie or sick babies.
So, this is how many parents handle the situation.
What’s odd is Alan not knowing this.

I immediately went to Fox News’ website and emailed them my complaint and displeasure with Mr. (using this term mildly) Colmes.

If he were still on TV, his would be a show I would boycott.

This is crass and as I said in my email to Fox, something one might expect from MSNBC.

If a person is having a hard time deciding who to vote for in the republican caucus, let the propaganda media help you pick. They are doing a lot of research on who they DON’T want in the white house. Vote for the one they don’t want the most.

I would have liked to see Mr. Santorum ask why that question was asked, and if a democrat had done the same thing, would he ask the same question. I forget what the occasion was, but there were some democrats and republicans with a moderator of some kind, and in one of the democrats opening comments he was talking to Vice President Dick Cheney and mentioned his lesbian daughter.

When you can’t win on your own merits, you have to bring the competition down below your level.

This clearly shows how low the left will go. Decent people on both sides agree that children are off limits, subsequently to use a tragic loss of a child is the lowest of blows. However, it is consistent with the dignity of human life shown by most on the left; no big deal if that life is “useless.”

On the other hand, heaven help us if the Obama dog Bo dies while Obama is in office. It will become a national week of mourning probably with another national holiday.

One more of those “If a Republican had said that…” things

You’ve got to give it to Alan Colmes for taking it to the conservatives on a regular basis. Just imagine what the story would be if one of Obama’s daughters were to die, and he were to take her home and sit her in a chair, or something like that.

@Liberal1 (objectivity):

Liberal1 I think you miss the point. Unlike Colmes abhoring remark that the Santoriums took their deceased child home to “play” with it, Colmes just adds more disrespect to his already egregious insensitive comment, all intended to paint Santorium as a kook.

Unlike many on the left who place little to no value on human life, especially a 2 hour old baby, most conservatives respect not only the dignity of the life but the dignity of honoring the dead. If you know anything about intensive neonatal care units,as Nan pointed out, they are very “intense”, and it would be unlikely that the siblings were permitted to visit. Santorum made it clear that they wanted to let the siblings pay respect to the brother they would never know. In earlier times, it was very common for familes to have home memorials.

For you to conflate a dead Obama teenager with a 2 hour old baby shows your ignorance as much as Colmes, in addition to you being dumb enough to believe that grieving parents brought home a dead child to “play with it.”

I did not know this about their child but what has this to do with him running everyone grieves in their own way …Alan is as bad as Debbie Wasserman they have no morals….

If you are idiotic enough to actually believe Colmes is anything less than a Democrat Polticial Hack then your an idiot. This guy is disgusting period!!

Just when I think Libtard2 can’t be more disgusting, she proves me wrong. You are subhuman garbage.
You’re lucky this isn’t my site as you would be banned and have to spew your hatred elsewhere.

@Hard Right: as always, HR…it’s only acceptable to “spew” hatred here when it’s directed at liberals, leftists, atheists, or other intelligent people.

“subhuman garbage”? “mental health issues”? “liberal idiots”? “losers”?

hmmm? like i’ve said before…a bunch of immature name-callers on this board. you guys seem to enjoy bashing anything that disagrees with your platform…but dare anyone disagree or make a point.

yeah…that seems to be a very productive, mature way of handling things.

@C Andrew Scott: Dude, America had to live through 8 years of you liberal wacho idiots blaming Bush for everything under and over the sun. For you now to show your thin skin when Colmes displays his ignorance is beyond belief!! Drink your Kool Aid-kindergarten recess is over. You might try a different web site so your baby little feelings won’t get hurt. This is an adult site and clearly you’re not near ready.

@Common Sense: no…this is not an “adult” site…this is clearly a “we hate everything that’s not god-fearing, gun-loving, conservative”

MY feelings aren’t hurt. just pointing out, yet again, the ignorant hypocrisy of your little club of narrow-minded haters.

you had to live through 8 years of us “liberal wacho idiots blaming Bush” because we had to live through 8 years of dealing with that illiterate little Texas prince being in office. you can bash Obama all you want…but how on earth can you defend that idiot???

you want to sling poop like a monkey? go ahead. but don’t bitch and moan when someone else steps up and points out the hypocrisy. nothing but a bunch of negative-Nellys here. i keep coming back to see if anyone posts a positive headline and follows it up with some constructive comments. no…just more bashing anything that opposes your crackpot beliefs and policies.

you can keep the Kool-Aid…i’m hypoglycemic.

@Liberal1 (objectivity): #7
99.999% of the conservatives would extend condolences for their loss, and really mean it. We don’t claim the 0.001% who would ridicule in a situation like that.

Liberals wouldn’t let a good tragedy go to waste.

@C Andrew Scott:

Your first post on this site was spewing names and hate so spare us your hypocrisy. CAS also shows the narcissism people like him suffer from. Intelligent? You give yourself faaaar more credit than you deserve.
Santorum did nothing to justify what Colmes said, but as the the leftists here have proven, it’s ok tosay and do whatever they want to Conservatives because we dare to disagree with them. They now treat us the way they used to treat African Americans.
God forbid we point out how dispicible their actions or comments are. They really are quite thin skinned.
BTW, Bush has shown himself to smarter than obama AND a better president. That must really sting to find yet again your elitism has no basis in fact.

Liberals truly are mentally ill.

@Hard Right: hmmm? i went back and looked. i don’t see any “hate speech” in my first post. what i do see is my opinion, which i still stand by.

yes…you have every right to be “bigoted” towards leftists. but don’t expect to be exempt when you decide to clump your “mentally ill” insults towards everyone who isn’t conservative. you lack consistency…which makes you lack credibility.

dare i disagree with you…then i’m just a “liberal wacho idiot”, but you’re perfect. you’re unflappable. you’re pristine. no…as long as it comes from the mouth of a right-wing nutjob…it’s ok.

pft! who was it that said “if you’ve got nothing nice to say…”? i guess that only applies when it’s liberals pointing out the flaws of the righteous right wing party.

yeah…keep being a hypocrite.

@Hard Right: and while some liberals might be “thin skinned” some conservatives (like yourself) are simply “thick headed”

@C Andrew Scott:
And yet I’m still much smarter than you.

No hate speech? As usual you are deliberately blind to your bigotry which you project onto others.

“C Andrew Scott says: 27
@hinckleybuzzard:

actually…we liberals “hate” Tebow because of all the “praise” he gets from right-wing bigots and fear-mongers like yourself. i don’t care what Tebow “believes”…i simply can’t stand the applause he gets for being vain and narcissistic. he’s not a good NFL QB…and i don’t care what religion he follows. i live in America…where we ALL have the 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech. you don’t like what Maher said…tough. he has every right to…just like the right of Tebow to express his beliefs.

don’t be a hypocrite. just get over the fact that your good-lookin’ Jesus-lovin’ poster boy isn’t liked by everyone, because not all Americans are “Christian” and being “Christian” alone does not make you better. there are plenty of BETTER men (and women) in this nation (and world) who deserve more praise for the good they actually do for humantiy. don’t give me garbage about Tebow’s missionary work. don’t give me the spin on his “charitable donations”

just admit that the only reason you love him is because he’s “Christian”

if he wasn’t…he’d be just another good athlete who gets more attention than he deserves. the media…and people like you…give this “man” more credit than he deserves. he is NOT Jesus. he’s just a man.

let it go. ”

Oh yeah, no hate speech there. (roll eyes)
You are an anti-Christian bigot, an elitest snob, and a cancer on the country.

@Hard Right:whatever helps you get thru the day.

@Hard Right: hmmm? what was it…that i called Tebow “vain” or “narcissistic”

did i call any of his supporters “mentally ill”? did i attack his intelligence? no…not at all.

and that, my friend, is what makes your argument idiotic.

“anti-Christian bigot”? (no…anti-IGNORANCE) “elitist snob”? (wow. never been called that before. “white trash”, yes…”heathen”, sure…) “cancer on the country”? (i always considered myself more of a “flu”)

but thanks…again…for helping support my argument. you’re an imbecile.

(and yes…you CAN quote me on that. i DID intend to insult you there)

actually…we liberals “hate” Tebow because of all the “praise” he gets from right-wing bigots and fear-mongers

That isn’t hate speech? Really. You make this much too easy. It’s clear our criticism of you and those like you cut far too deep for you to ignore.

Here’s more:

@Hard Right: actually, HardRight…i consider myself an “open-minded” bigot. but again…you point fingers at those who oppose you and put your own beliefs above all.

if Tebow were gay or Muslim…would you still support him for “standing up for what he believes”? doubtful. which supports my argument that the only reason right-wing Americans like the mediocre quarterback is because he’s “Christian”

How does your petard taste?

@Hard Right: actually, HardWrong…please dissect this sentence and explain to me how it is “hatespeech”:

actually…we liberals “hate” Tebow because of all the “praise” he gets from right-wing bigots and fear-mongers

what it because i called out the “right-wing bigots and fear-mongers who support him”? i made an observation…which you seem determined to twist. you seem determined to project the tone of voice YOU want to hear.

keep trying.

Don’t need to keep trying. I’ve proven my point about you and other leftists like you.
You have made and continue to make all kinds of incorrect assumptions about Conservatives. Really, your bigotry causes us to stereotype us. Back in the Bull Connor days you dems treated African Americans they way you want to treat Conservatives now. Sadly, you’re still guilty of racism.
It’s an example of your bigotry and projections that narcissists like yourself usually are guilty of.
It allows you to have an irrational hatred of people who oppose you while telling yourself how wonderful and superior you are. The funny thing is that deep down, you know you aren’t smarter or superior, or right. That is why you get so angry at us. You just can’t handle reality.

@Hard Right: actually…you haven’t proven a point. you’ve only supported my argument.

you yourself make terrible incorrect assumptions of liberals. i never claimed to be “wonderful and superior” and i have no problem admitting that.

however…it’s not because i’m “angry” at you. “anger” is not the emotion i feel when i deal with people like YOU (i’m talking directly at you, HardWrong)…it’s “sympathy” and “pity” are what i feel.

you seem to have no problem projecting your own anger and assumptions on the left…which is what makes you, yourself, a hypocrite.

so…as i said before…

keep trying.

@C Andrew Scott: So let me get this straight. If 0-bama was a Republican and failed our country as he has as a Democrat, you would still blindly follow him?? Didn’t think so. BTW they make sugar-free Kool Aid so you can still have it at recess.

@Common Sense: first of all, CommonSenseless…if you’d paid attention…you’d know that i didn’t vote for Obama. that being said…i still find him a better president than George W Bush. and i still consider him a better option than any of the GOP candidates.

that being said…i also understand that our “president” is not the reason we, as a nation, “fail” or “prosper”. any intelligent person who has a fair understanding of our government and economy would know that.

but no…when it comes to presidential elections…BOTH extremes seem intent on destroying the other, NOT working together. SOLUTIONS, NOT PROBLEMS!

and i don’t drink the sugar-free variety either. that aspartame has been proven to be carcinogenesis.

My problem isn ‘t so much with his comments, but his smug expression when he attempted to defend his position. He just dug his feet in, leaned back in his chair and continued to repeat himself. It showed no thought behind his talking points, a lack of depth in his position and this incredible lack of sensitivity. I don’t know if he has any kids, but I wonder how he would have reacted if an infant of his died.

Santorum and his wife looked at the bigger picture and the need for compassion and closure. Mrs. Santorum is also a trained nurse and knows first hand about the need for closure.

I used to listen to Colmns with respect. Now I know that he is shallow and his opinions are based on sound bites.

Wonder how his wife reacted to his comments and body language.

It’s time for him to find another day job. He is not qualified to be a commentator.

Common Sense, CAS wants us to believe he isn’t a liberal or a moonbat. Amusing.
It’s also quite telling Liberal1 makes a disgusting remark and who does he call out? The people who called out liberal1. Not angry? Yeah, you first post and others that came later were such a good example of not being angry.
You really are a sick and delusional person CAS. Keep trying to pretend otherwise. Maybe you’ll believe it yourself someday.

Call, contact Fox. Time for Alan to get another day job.

@Hard Right: Thanks man. I know the poor guy can’t help himself. It’s typical comments when they have nothing intelligent to say. I’m sure he had a great day when the Republicans historically took back the House. Now on to the Senate and Whitehouse. Best of the New Year to you.

@Helene:

Helene, a while back he also posted or allowed to be posted on his site, an article written by someone who tried to blame Sara Palin for their son being born with Down Syndrome. He initialy defended the story, then when the heat got to be too much he backed down somewhat.
Colmes would make excuses for Hitler if there was D next to his name.

@CommonSenseless & HardWrong:
i don’t recall ever trying to tell you i wasn’t “liberal” you guys are really in love with spinning things.

i AM liberal…and i AM American…and i DO vote…and i DO pay taxes…and i DO believe in equality and civil rights.

you guys are just broken records of your own bullshit. have a nice day. thanks for living by example.

@Common Sense:

The lack of self introspection from liberals like CAS has to be seen to be believed, but there it is.
Happy New Year to you too.

@C Andrew Scott:

Suuuure you believe in equality and civil rights. If that were true you wouldn’t be a liberal.
Really, what you mean is you believe in the rights you think others should have, but not the ones you think they shouldn’t. Pretty much every lib that has come here proves it time after time.
Amazing that people who want to take rights away from others actually think they are “civil rights champions.”

@C Andrew Scott: I am sorry, I’m sure I insulted a lot of liberals to include you in any category other than idiot. Actually a lot of liberals must have voted Republican last election cycle.

@CommonSenseless:it’s ok. i’m sure i’ve insulted a few conservatives by clumping you with them as well. my apologies to the intelligent, compassionate conservatives who don’t live their lives like hypocrites.

Oh yeah CAS, you have set a fine example since you’ve been here. (roll eyes)

@Hard Right: thanks, HardWrong…i try.

@C Andrew Scott: If there is anyone who would know what a hypocrite is like you would. Can’t imagine what that must look like in the mirror. Can’t imagine the smell either.

@Common Sense: actually, i’m quite pleasant to the eye (so i’ve been told).

and as far as the smell…i wouldn’t “no”. the stench of the b.s. your spew over-shadows my deodorant.

@C Andrew Scott Normal humans don’t consider their BO and Gas as deodorant but not surprised that you would. I would rather spew BS than be BS like you.

@CommonSenseless: i’m not surprised that you are so fixated on the sense of smell. i hear it becomes the dominant sense for those who are blind.

@C Andrew Scott: I would rather be blind than a brainless moronic idiot like you.

@C Andrew Scott: So you are condoning Colmes’ comments. Very telling, CAS, very, very telling.

@CommonSenseless: au contraire. i assumed you enjoyed being a “brainless moronic idiot”…mostly because of your political alignment.

@anticsrocks: Sadly he is and just can’t stand to be called on it.

@anticsrocks: oh no. i never “condoned” his comments. show me where i did?

i’ve simply pointed out my observation that most of the posts in this forum are of the negative nature, attacking someone on the left, someone from the media. i keep hoping someone might post something in support of the alternative, rather than simply trolling the internet for ways to bash the current administration.

of course…i’m making a generalization, but the majority of the “conservative” comments on this blog attack anyone with a liberal opinion. i keep hoping someone might post something about their choice of replacement…and WHY that candidate is qualified. it seems everyone is so obsessed to find flaws and problems with Obama. where are the answers and solutions?

@C Andrew Scott: Who’s obsessed with finding fault with 0-bama?? Totally not necessary, his faults are out there for America to pay for. Over $830 billion and counting. Public knowledge. Just to educate you, which is obviously impossible, 0-bama was the guy who promised to stimulate our economy if we gave him what he asked for. We did and he failed. I doubt you would want to remember but the graph he presented indicated what our unemployment rate would be when and if he got his money. Sadly he wasted it on buying union votes and green garbage and we got stuck with the bill and no jobs. BTW, no need to blame Bush. DW Slut and 0-bama have said it’s their economy.

@C Andrew Scott: French eh?? A moronic idiot by any other language is still a moronic idiot. I knew you would have to resort to another language sense your English has failed you. Yes it is my political alignment that ran the Democrats out of the House in historic fashion and I can’t wait to do the same to the Senate. I guess you are in the minoirty again eh??

@Common Sense: and which one of your saviors is going to try and “fix” things?

i guess we’ll find out in 2016.
