Michele Bachmann walked on the Jimmy Fallon show, while the band played the song “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” without the lyrics. The drummer was named as the scapegoat and no one has yet figured out how the band knew to play the song without knowing the title or who on the show approves the musical selections.
NBC maintains that the drummer, who bragged about the incident on his tweeter account, has since been grounded rather than fired. Like an adolescent, the drummer has been “grounded”? Does this mean the drummer received a tongue in cheek reprimand for committing gross disrespect for a presidential candidate.
The band took responsibility, with this anemic explanation:
“The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur-of-the-moment decision.”
So there you have an explanation that excuses the band of sexism and of disrespect, but let’s examine this a little closer, under a different microscope. If the drummer,

had been White, and the insult was directed at Michelle Obama, what would have been the reaction of the press and the public?
Would the drummer have been fired? If you say no, you are a “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” and you are perpetuating this double standard in the show business world, the MSM, and the propaganda business that seems to direct or control the first two.
In all fairness, Bachmann was oblivious to the dreadful insult implied with the song, until she learned of the band’s duplicity after the show, so while those who were familiar with the song and the lyrics were laughing their “asses” off, a presidential candidate was onstage and had no idea she was being humiliated.
No, if the incident would have been reversed and the other Michelle would have been humiliated in a racially charged situation, the drummer would not have been “severely reprimanded”; no let’s not kid ourselves, the band would have been fired and the show would be in jeopardy.
Fallon, being a class act in the shallow tradition of Hollywood, offered an apology on twitter, but Bachmann demanded an apology from NBC. Doug Vaughan, NBC’s senior vice-president, apologized in a letter, for the incident and stated that it was:
“not only unfortunate but also unacceptable”
Unfortunately, those responsible, still have their jobs, but NBC proudly proclaims:
“She accepted the apology,”
Therefore, they are resolved of guilt and all is forgotten.
Yes, Michele Bachmann is a nice woman and forgives in a Christian way, but the hatred and deceit that precipitated the event is still there beneath the surface; along with the attitude of the show’s writers, producers, and performers who have given their implied approval of such actions by not responding in an appropriate manner immediately. The public is left asking why Michele had to ask for an apology from NBC and why the band, if not the show is still on the air, instead of claiming an absolution of guilt because Michele accepted the apology she asked for.
Michele brought up the reference to Michelle Obama and the aftermath of such a vicious attack by a band:
“If that song had been played for Michelle Obama I have no doubt that NBC would’ve apologized to her and likely they could’ve fired the drummer or at least suspended him. None of that happened from NBC and this is clearly a form of the bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,”
The drummer bragged of the band’s planned attack on Bachmann’s character with this tweeter post, prior to the show:
“Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title.”
We are continually amazed at the mean-spiritness and general evil that seems to lurk in the party that pronounces its love for humanity; yet, actions speak much louder than words, and in this incident, the double standard, the hatred, and prejudice is screaming.

That hesitancy was overcome by my disdain for the present occupants as they seem to lack any respect at all for the traditions and significance of the office. The position comes with a degree of respect an honor, much like a commission or rank in the military; however, when leaders display poor leadership or deficits in character, that position of respect is eroded, until the honor and respect is little more than a ceremonial position that is granted reluctantly.
The current residents of the White House managed to destroy the respect and honor that is inherent with the job within three years. Once that respect is lost, it is nearly impossible to regain. Besides, respect is given as a measure of character and integrity that must always be above and beyond the people you are trying to lead. Demanding respect from a begrudging public that sees through the corruption and lack of ability is a forlorn hope.

Being the eternal optimist that I am, I believe that the right occupant of the White House could undo the damage caused by these usurpers. Whatever criticism could be leveled at George Bush, the dignity and the honor of the Presidency was assiduously maintained. As I am trying to understand the present crop of candidates, one of my considerations is just that, are they qualified to restore the respect that the office should command. I don’t believe this to be a small matter, for I do believe that the failure of leadership that emanates from the White House these days results from the feeling that many of us have that we are viewed with contempt and condescension just because we do not agree with our dear leader. If this wonderful country is to resume its greatness, those attitudes must not only cease, but must be roundly rejected.

In the meanwhile, it is ok for Pelosi to make millions of dollars on inside deals proffered to get her regulatory favor, and for John Keary, who has managed to serially marry extraordinarily rich women, to make nearly a million dollars trading on inside information. Too bad Pelosi didn’t follow up on her promise to drain the swamp. Perhaps the favorable opinion of Congress would have been higher than 8%.
I fervently hope that the American people have finally woken up to the hypocrisy, kleptomania and yes, incompetence that characterizes the current administration and the lackeys that cluster around. You progressives had your moment of glory and it will be many, many years before you get the reins again.

Michele Bachmann IS a liar. Talk shows like Jimmy Fallon’s ARE just entertainment, they should not have to apologize for off-color humor. The Roots are a liberal band. Bachmann should have done herself some research to know what she was getting into.
This is not a race issue. You are correct to say that liberals would jump on the chance to point fingers and accuse someone of racism if the tables were turned. That doesn’t make it okay for YOU to do the same thing you condemn liberals for doing. This is NOT about race, this is about partisanship. As far as sexism against women goes, it is somewhat sexist. However, so is Bachmann’s position against a vaccine for HPV, which can cause cervical cancer and is the most common STI. So, which is worse, words that hurt, or diseases that kill?

There is no more sure way to enrage a lefty than to disagree with them. The immediate reaction is rising anger, finger pointing and the good old standby, “It is Bush’s fault.” Harry Truman had it right when he said, “The buck stops here.” In the minds of liberals and in the mind of Obama, they have never done wrong and everything wrong is the fault of someone else. Wouldn’t it be refreshing for Obama to just once admit that his economic policies haven’t worked, because that is the unvarnished truth. And, if you want to call someone a liar, how about, “If you like your medical insurance, you will be able to keep it.” and “This bill will bend the costs of medical care down.” or, “This stimulus will keep unemployment below 8 percent.” You get the picture. The CDC says on their website that 40 million doses of the HPV vaccines have been administered and out of the estimated 40 million, 20,096 cases of side effects were reported. In 92% of those cases, 8% were serious or life threatening. They also report 71 deaths from the vaccines, along with blood clots, Guillain-Barré syndrome, pain and swelling at the injection site (the arm), fever, dizziness, nausea, and fainting.
Now I am not suggesting that there is a connection between the HPV vaccine and mental retardation. What I am saying is that Michele Bachmann should have been a bit more careful in what she said. In the pressure of a national primary race, it is easy to get in over your head and saying something that might hurt you in the long run.
