Occupy Wall Street Notes & Tidbits….

Loading

The New Yorker asked some random OWSer’s a few questions, this one is indicative:

And Dana Loesch took one of the #OWS Journolister’s to task when he said (paraphrasing) “…well Fox did it too! They helped the Tea Party.” When asked to produce a link to evidence that Fox helped out the Tea party:

…The three people who read Media Matters valiantly tried to throw a besieged Boehlert a rope with the kooky argument that any Fox coverage of the tea party was equal to NBC’s Ratigan writing talking points for Occupiers. One asserted that 9/12 was a Fox event; it was not. In reality, Fox ran as far as it could from 8/28 and was one, if not the only, network to not report on 8/28 at all. This argument is invalid however, because it assumes that the 8/28 event was a tea party when it was not; the purpose of the 8/28 event was American unity. I was in DC covering the event; I saw not one Gadsen flag.

Another tried to insist that 9/12 was also the same as an NBC anchor writing notes for protesters and reporting on said protesters–except 9/12 isn’t a political group, it’s a community group. From the site itself:

The 9/12 Project is a volunteer based, non-partisan movement focusing on building and uniting our communities back to the place we were on 9/12/2001.

[…]It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington …

There is only one group endorsed by the Nazi Party, supported by communists, a group that has scored over a thousand arrests, a group where felons are arrested with guns, a group that threatens to kill people, a group where they desecrate the flag and defecate on cop cars, spit on uniformed Coast Guard members, and that group is the Obama-endorsed, cop-killer endorsed, Pelosi-blessed occupy movement for which NBC’s Dylan Ratigan served in some capacity as an editor while reporting on them.

Ouch!

Feeling left out with nothing to protest? Do your own:

Coming home from work tonight, I decided to “occupy” one of the elevators in my building. I got in, pushed all the buttons at once and then wouldn’t get out until people paid more attention to me.

On a GOP sidenote….did we dodge a bullet or what when Christie declined to run?

Chris Christie weighed in on the Occupy Wall Street protesters yesterday asserting that they “come from the same perspective” but have “different solutions.”

“What they are saying is, that ‘Government is not working for me anymore, government is not being fair and government is not helping me the way it should,'” he added.

Christie said that he didn’t agree with the solutions of the Occupy Wall Street protesters, but said, “I understand why they are angry.”

Oh really? The OWS crowd wants to take my money and redistribute it to others to help pay off school loans and other crapola. The Tea Party wants NO help from the government. Quite the contrary they want the government to leave them alone.

That’s coming from the same perspective?

And having just watched the debate I’m left to despair about 2012. Cain’s gitmo answer has me backpeddling on the guy big time. Perry just doesn’t do it for me, and Romney is Obamalite. Still plenty of time left but ugh….I need a drink

The TEA PARTY needs to get it’s AZZ in gear. It’s having it’s lunch stolen and eaten right in front of its face.

Unbelievable.

“Coming on the heels of the Solyndra debacle, the Obama administration has just approved a $168.9 million loan guarantee for the Granite Reliable wind farm project owned by Brookfield Asset Management (BAM). Among its many holdings BAM owns Brookfield Renewable Power, which owns the Granite Reliable and it also owns Brookfield Office Properties, whose holdings include the now famous Zuccotti Park. The Department of Energy finalized the loan guarantee less than a week after Occupy Wall Street protesters took to Zuccotti Park.”
So it looks like the people at Brookfield Asset Management, in exchange for letting their park be used by the protesters, got a $168 million loan guarantee from the regime. But it doesn’t stop there. “The Granite Reliable Power Project under construction in Coos Bay, New Hampshire is the state’s largest wind farm and the New Hampshire Union Leader questions why Brookfield would need federal subsidies at all, particularly following the bankruptcy of Solyndra,” and why is GE getting subsidies when they don’t need the money? “Mayor Bloomberg’s announcement Monday that protesters could remain as long as they liked, also raised a few eyebrows and it turns out he has a personal connection to Brookfield as well. The mayor’s longtime domestic partner Diana Taylor is on the Board of Directors at Brookfield Properties along with John E. Zuccotti himself.”

Oh Oh, you mean that the Wunderkind of Jersey is really a closet lefty? Didn’t this guy just give a big wet kiss to Romney? Or was it the big wet kiss of death? I suppose Barry could give Romney a glowing recommendation too.

If the Tea Party would protest while OWS is protesting, we probably wouldn’t be covered by the propaganda media. Any coverage would be negative. We would have to be far away from the OWS gang or there would be violence against us and the propaganda media would say we started it. The best thing us Tea Partiers can do is ask people we know that support the OWS protesters what they agree with the protesters. You can’t find any one thing they agree on except that they shouldn’t owe anybody any money. Even a diehard liberal that has some common sence will admit we should have to WORK for our money.

wow, the FBI, will have a ball when they arrest all of them,
then the lawyers will have a ball when they move in to get them out ,
but while they are in prison, THE other prisoners will have a ball with them,
and after they get out of prison, the OWL’S CROWD WILL HAVE A BALL SHREDDING THEM EACH,
ONE BY ONE, AND… AND… AND… WILL HAVE A BALL

I think what Ivan fails to understand is that it is not who wins the battle of the demonstration, but who has an effective strategy for accomplishing their goals. I am attending a class tonight to better inform the voters in my pricinct. ( I am the pricinct chairman for the GOP) This is happening all over the country. Before the Tea Party involvement, this would not have happened. The 2010 elections looked to be effective and was reluctantly attributed to the Tea Party influence by most media.

The Los Angeles Unified School District FIRED a teacher after she was caught on You tube calling Jews ”Zionists who needed to be run out of the country.”
Heh!
Yeah, she wasn’t tenured.
She was only a substitute teacher.
But I bet she has a tough time getting hired anytime soon!

Superintendent Deasy Issues Statement on Employee’s Controversial Remarks

In the New Yorker article that circle graphic is interactive: it tells you the right answer.
The Occupiers are almost all wrong!
Only ~5% of them correctly noted that it is PENSIONS & HEALTH CARE that eat up the biggest chunk of the US federal spending.
I took a walk yesterday and touched base with almost all the 20 Occupiers here in LB.
They, too, are woefully ill-informed.
The majority want all borrowed money to be forgiven.
Then they want all ”necessities” to be given free to everyone!
Where the incentive will be to get up and plow, reap, manufacture, record, produce, invent, expand, even upkeep will come from is a mystery.
They, each and every one, desires to be the philosopher sitting under the tree all day.
Not one of them wants to plumb toilets or lay tile or clean dishes.
And so far, they have been brought food, cleaned up after, given sleeping bags and free condoms.
So, they think the rest of us all getting on their bandwagon will work.
Fools!

@Nan G: When I do not travel, I work from home. I usually start at 0400 and finish op around 1700. That is much more than an 8 hour day, but I have no comute. I think I will not bother to get out of bed any more. I will expect to continue to get my pay every other week deposited in my bank account, though! Isn’t it wonderful? Maybe I should Occupy Colorado!

@plainjane:
Jane thank you for your contribution, I went to research http://www.brookieldofficeproperties.com looking for the corporate link with the wind mill project in New Hampshire. If approved, the project centered around Granite will require $135-150 million dollar loan guarentees by Steven Chu, Department of Energy. The corporate name entities involved are Granite, EssexGranite Reliable Power LLCower (Ct), and Noble Environmental but the knitting that involves Brookfield through the company board member Diane Taylor has not yet been found. I too heard the claim listening to Rush but the rest has been a scramble. Today, Mark Steyn, who lives near the Coos County NH project, said nothing so putting all the pieces together remains undone.

@THE SOOTHSAYER:

December 13, 2010

Wind developer Noble Environmental Power is to sell its majority interest in a 99-megawatt New Hampshire wind farm.

The company based in Essex, Connecticut will sell its interest in the $275 million Granite Reliable Power Windpark to Brookfield Renewable Power, Inc.

@Smorgasbord:

If the Tea Party would protest while OWS is protesting, we probably wouldn’t be covered by the propaganda media

.

The TP disappeared like a fart in the wind after the 2010 elections. They should have been out protesting the horrifically bad budget deals and other government incompetence all spring and summer-like they did in 2009 and 201. Let’s face it, once the Republicans grabbed the House the TP became part of the problem, not the solution.

Any coverage would be negative.

TP coverage is always negative. Big deal. Get out there and fight.

We would have to be far away from the OWS gang or there would be violence against us and the propaganda media would say we started it.

That is why we should have been leading the fight in the first place-we’ve lost the initiative.

YVAN,
hi, you must notice the difference of class gathering between the TEA PARTY AND WHAT IS THERE,
THE TEA PARTY ARE MANY WITH FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN ALSO,
THEY CANNOT MIX THEIR STAGES WITH THIS CLASS WARFARE GANGS BEING INCITED BY GOVERNMENT LEADER AND UNIONS WITH THEIR OWN NOT VERY RECOMMENDED ALLIES AND FRIENDS, THAT IS A MIX, YOU AND DECENT AMERICANS DON’T WANT TO KNOW OR BE ASSOCIATE WITH, BECAUSE THEY DON’T REPRESENT WELL THE CLASSY RESPECTFUL AND VERY INTELLIGENT
TEA PARTY FAMILIES WHICH LOVE THIS AMERICA SO MUCH, TO GET ON THE STREET TOGETHER TO PROTEST THE FAILURE AND WRONG THAT NOT TOO MANY CITIZEN GET TO KNOW, IF THEY WHERE NOT EXISTING, THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE INVENTED, THEIR ROLES ARE TO GET THE ELECTED IN POWER LIMIT THEIR SPENDING THE MONEY WHICH DOESN’T BELONG TO THEM, BUT TO THE PEOPLE, WHICH ARE BEING LED TO A DESTRUCTIVE SITUATION SINCE 2008 ELECTION,
YOU ARE smart enough to know this, for sure.
bye

@Nan G:
GREAT GUNS, this is the colaborating evidence from Forbes that I have been looking for. Conceivably both Granite and Essex are false front straw companies set up to shield Brookfield until the deal was more assured. No subterfuge here because the set strategy is to improve shareholder value which such a deal would do for Brookfield. The crux of shady dealings is Diane Taylor. She is not liked here in New York because of her sway over the public health department and its new restrictive regulations effecting trans fat, calorie counts, no smoking and facility inspection grading. She is the mayor’s girlfriend yet she’s become an unelected policy wonk whose placating to the mob has opened up a Pandora’s Box of woes far beyond her first expectations so what is needed is full expose’ of this interlinking exploitation which has turned New York City taxpayers into chumps.

THE SOOTHSAYER,

I hope you are successful in getting all them EXPOSE in this cam,

With ALL losers [yes, they are losers] who “want” someone ‘the rich’, or some entity ‘the Government’ via the “Taxpayer” to “Give” them something [money?]

I have a question… What the hell have they done in their loser lifetime, to [contribute] positively to SOCIETY ???? Anything that gives them just a little wiggle room to “expect” something??

Did any of these gimme losers ever Produce anything? Create a Job for anyone? Serve their Country? Make anything of Value? Invent or do anything to benefit society?

I suspect [many] have done absolutely nothing except whine about how life is so unfair… [as though a perfect life is a guarantee]… So, who the hell are these people to “demand” someone else to “Fix” their loser problems and loser “choices” in life??? By taking from someone else…?
…. ‘some’ OWS’s found out what THAT is like and they didn’t like it much when it happened to them…

These losers have absolutely nothing remotely in common with the Tea Party and I take issue with any comparison whatsoever…..

They made their million and one incomprehensible Liberal talking points, now go home [to Mommy and Dad or your basement/Garage] already… Yes, I said it!!

@ilovebeeswarzone:
Sorry, this is a job for a major leaguer way out of this guy’s area. Robert Murdock of the Post or, cross my fingers, Conrad Black from the NY Sun (founded by Alexander Hamilton) will pick up the charge. Very pernicious situation at this masquerade ball, I don’t see the Times ringing in although scuttlebutt rings there is no love lost between Sutzberger and Bloomberg. We are talking feudal warfare between knights of the billionaires and this OWS thing is just a fly on the armor.

Cains remarks on Gitmo were disturbing to our family as well. But then again we agreed that we would rather have the terrorists freed for an American soldier, than what Bush/Obama has done in the past. Freed them to get Saleh of Yemen to co-operate,(which he did not), and in a futile effort to appease the liberal lefts demands that the majority of terrorists were small time. Many of those terrorists went straight back to terrorism, and Al-Qaeda, especially in Yemen. We had protested each release with Bush and Obama. Obama ignored us and other families, and continued the freeing of terrorists. Till the attempted bombings started from out of Yemen. He was going to free another 90 of them. At least Bush to his credit did stop the releases off and on when we could garner enough support and held up money to the dictator of Yemen. So we are still with Cain.

THE SOOTHSAYER,
YOU ARE SO TALENTED to put all that you are following in a book, or some pages
to be open to the public right before 2012,
than all the snakes would get back in the pit together.
bye

THE SOOTHSAYER,
you just mentionned CONRAD BLACK?
is he not still in prison for another accusation he was convicted some times ago, a couple of years,
he had a big newspaper COMPANY in CANADA, AND HE IS A BRITISH CITIZEN ALSO, I think from birth, and had been made a LORD, I THINK, pretty sure,

Stop typing in all CAPS. It is rude.

You’re giving advice on proper Interwebz decorum now?

That’s rich.

@ilovebeeswarzone:

Ms. Bees… You type however it suits you best.

Ivan’s advice is worth far less than you paid him for it.

AYE thank you, for being on my side,
YVAN I admit it but I GET CARRIED AWAY AND DON’T MEAN TO BE MEAN,
OOPS , see I did it again.but not in a rude way,

Conrad Black columns weekly in the NY Sun and his delivery is razor sharp rapacious and yes he remains in prison on trumped up charges. He, nevertheless, has access to the Sun and the Sun is one news source, it is only online resurrected after the print broadsheet folded in 2005, that has reporters with some lead sources that can follow through with creditability. It is a nexus, all these characters see each other on the lunch circuit at least once a week so they do the smooch that opens and closes the tap on information at will. What is needed is a heavy breather from the Telegraph or Daily Mail to bite into this story. Then we see feathers fly because those guys are relentless.

THE SOOTHSAYER, YES THIS IS GETTING VERY INTERESTING AS A NOVEL TO FOLLOW, lets keep it alive, NAN G will surely find some more she gave us the link of miss more, hope I am pronouncing okay,
in another post, and that was very news worthy, the whoes who where in the ow’l how,and your granite connection are in this far out.

Different times I have thought a national protest should have been called. I used to live 200 miles from Washington DC and attended most of the protests there. I now live in Idaho, 2,050 miles away. I would still try to attend another rally if they have one. Anyone going to one should allow time for the several Smithsonian museums along The Mall. They are all free.

I do belong to a Tea Party based in Boise and will probably join another one based near Boise. We all can demonstrate in our local areas, and Idaho is very active this way.

According to poll results Douglas Schoen cites in his recent OWS-critical Wall Street Journal article:

“The vast majority of demonstrators are actually employed, and the proportion of protesters unemployed (15%) is within single digits of the national unemployment rate (9.1%).”

It must have been a painful admission that the demonstrators don’t seem to be predominantly lazy, unemployed hippies.

Schoen’s distortions of his own poll results in an effort to discredit the Wall Street demonstrators as far leftist and out of the mainstream was so obvious that Megyn Kelly of FOX News called him out on it. His explanation is almost comical.

Here’s an informative article that summarizes some of the actual demographic data collected from two different Occupy Wall Street participant polls, one of which is Douglas Schoen’s:

Occupy Wall Street Demographic Survey Results Will Surprise You

While over 64% were age 34 or younger, 1 in 3 was over age 35, and 1 in 5 was over age 45.

Over 30% reported having household income in excess of $50,000 per year.

With regard to their educational level, 92.1% of the sample reported “some college, a college degree, or a graduate degree.”

How do you suppose the average crowd of Tea Party demonstrators would compare on those same points?

As well or better on those same points, commrade greg.

@ Greg

With regard to their educational level, 92.1% of the sample reported “some college, a college degree, or a graduate degree.”
How do you suppose the average crowd of Tea Party demonstrators would compare on those same points?

Well, I’m thinking that instead of degrees in English and Philosophy, you’ll probably find the Tea Party folks have degrees in Engineering, Chemistry, Business, or something else that might actually be useful.

@Greg:

Greg, your use of Megan K. was cute.
Here’s what caused Doug S. to say what he did about the 200 he quizzed being for redistribution of wealth:

[The movement] comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth……
…….
65% say that government has a moral responsibility to guarantee all citizens access to affordable health care, a college education, and a secure retirementno matter the cost.

By a large margin (77%-22%), they support raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans,
but 58% oppose raising taxes for everybody, with only 36% in favor.

Megan was wrong.
Doug was right.
IF only 8% said redistribution was their top priority, so what?

BTW, 200 out of that group is barely a scientifically dependable % for a proper poll.
And add to that the willingness to lie.
I’d have made them prove employment and education level.
No way I’d have taken their word for it.

@Greg#27 : You’ve probably moved on, but here is my response to you anyway…

Here is some infinite wisdom from the 99% Occupy Wall Street – This is ‘Orias12’s ‘ plan to solve all the US of A’s economic problems and those greedy corporations and “people”…. Most are beyond the pale…..enjoy!

Oh, and if you want even more drama go to their 99% website there are tons of ‘poor me’ stories and “glass half empty” scenarios filled with “I can’t” “they won’t” “I go/went to college but I won’t tell you what I studied”… “I’m terrified” My mom still owes College debt from 30 years ago [Noooo losers here], I am terrified to ‘grow up’ (at 20)… and on and on….

Anyone with commom sense will tell you ALL these people have ‘one thing’ in common “A Defeatist Attitude”….[ yes, a losers problem].

THEN, go to here

https://www.tumblr.com/the53/11694904246

and read about the people who are PROBLEM SOLVERS…and don’t have “woe is me stories” they took the proverbial “Wall Street Bull by the horns” and solved their own problems…. [winners]

What we must regulate

1) where there was one, let there now be two! – limit the allowable size of a corporation. Major conglomerates must be dissolved or broken down into smaller/competing businesses. Imcreased competition means price security.

2) standardize corporate social responsibility -corporations are founded with the sole purpose to cut a profit by any means. this blatant exploitation of our environment and fellow man must stop. Every corporate charter must be redefined with public serving agenda. Corporate profits must be redistributed for the good of the people, and the environment. Corporations must be in business for the best interests of their customers: we the people. Not for themselves.

3) there must be a salary cap on all emplyees, regular, contract, or executive set at 250,000 including stock options, bonuses…etc.

4) all corporate lobbying must cease! In every form or measure!

5) a government of the people, and for the people -who in our government can say they represent the 99% percent of americans. who in office can say they are dirt poor, lack in health insurance, are forced to buy the cheapest clothes, food, and housing? The polititions in office are not composed of the 99%. They are the 1%. This must stop! Career poloticians must stop!

For any man woman or child to hold office, they must saceifice their 50% of their wealth for the good of the people. While in office they must live like the 99%. They cannot be associated with any business or corporation, and must cut all ties with the corporate world.

– that last thought could use some work. I havent really thought it through.
6) 1-5 is a start. What else can we do?

Faith, hi,
am I right to see that you found a treasure?
