Recordings released via CBS reporter Sharyl Atkisson offer many disturbing comments regarding the Gunwalker scandal. Weapons dealer Andre Howard is speaking with ATF agent Hope McAlister.
On one of the recordings it is suggested that putting a private investigator on Senator Chuck Grassley could help diminish Grassley’s enthusiasm for the Gunwalker investigation:
EXCERPT 2
Dealer: Until something else happens they’re not stupid, Hope, they connect the dots.
Agent: No and you know and all that’s fine if Senator Grassley wants to come in and tell us show us how to work these cases more efficiently more effectively by all means.
Dealer: Don’t think Grassley, think Leahy.
Agent: Well, him too. I… I welcome him to come down and work…
Dealer: He’s an arrogant b—–d
Agent: So is Grassley though
Dealer: Chuck probably and I don’t know a thing about him other than from somebody else I’ve heard seems to be just somebody who’s hitching his wagon to any star to.. for his own aggrandizement.
Agent: Yeh
Dealer: You know that. He’s an arrogant
Agent: Yeh
Dealer: individual. Look he’s a United States senator there it is right there.
EXCERPT 3
Agent: That’s kind of what my suggestion but nobody thought that was funny like if I were a P.I. I’d put him on Grassley, I’m sure there’s a lot would go away. Actually my one suggestion was just tell him in a registered Republican. I’m sure if he knew that everything would be fine, they didn’t like that either.
On the second, and IMO, more damning recording, it is suggested that Senator Patrick Leahy put and end to the inquiry:
Dealer: He’s (Dodson) more toxic than you realize. I can tell you casue I asked him. How much of this f—–g file did you release?
Agent: Mmmhm
Dealer: He said basically the underlying case file. I said okay, who’d you release it to? F—–g Patrick Leahy! Ok? Wasn’t just Grassley it was Leahy alright? Leahy as we both know has adjourned this inquiry right now okay with no plans to reconvene it. So your people were successful on that end.
Agent: Right.
This clearly suggests that someone let Leahy know that an end to his inquiry was desirable and that he complied with that request. Leahy already has a of history of leaking classified intelligence and of blocking investigations. This just keeps getting worse by the day.

This is a good example of why a political crimes tribunal is needed. Their only purpose would be to go after politicians who committed crimes while in office, just like the War Crimes Tribunal only goes after people who committed war crimes.
Senator Leahy needs to be sent to Mexico, to apologize in person to the 200 families of the victims.

If a Political Crimes Tribunal would be created it would have to be cometely independent and no politicians or ex-politicians would be on it.
@Marvin: If Leahy was sent to Mexico, there are more than 36,000 murdered Mexicans – we will never know how many of them were murdered using these guns, but if it was up to me, I would have Leahy down on his knees apologizing to each and every one, even if some of the dead were cartel members.
@Smorgasbord: Here’s an idea- let’s have a committee using ordinary citizens to judge our Congress, and the ATF, FBI, and any others. Appoint a Special Prosecutor, but empanel a Grand Jury of regular citizens.
Then we will see justice.

Do you really want politicians appointing a Special Prosicutor to go after themselves? My idea would be to have a PERMANENT commission that there sole purpose would be to go after politicians who abuse their position.
@Smorgasbord: The reason a Special Prosecutor is appointed, is to investigate that certain and specific action and find out if it was wrong and/or criminal in its nature.
But if we had a permanent commision, might they go after just about anything, if for no other reason than to justify their existence? Remember, power corrupts, and these people might not be the exception here- then who investigates them?
That bothers me, so I will opt for the single Special Prosecutor- One job, and he’s done.
There’s less of a chance that he could be corrupted.

If the special prosecutor is used, that means there would have to be one appointed for each politician accused of a crime and one appointed each time the politician is charged. I agree that power corrupts, and what group is more corrupt than congress? Do you really want them to appoint a special prosicutor to prosecute themselves? I’ve never heard any complaints about the War Crimes Tribunal, except from the ones they go after. I think we will have to agree to disagree on this issue and leave it at that.
I’d like to hear just one person quote a law that MIGHT have been broken.
“Bungling a Weapons Sting Operation” – there is no law against this sort of a mistake!
There may have been no specific law broken, but this is but another in a continuous line of arrogant, bumbling,stupid operations ever, and to compound this by stonewalling this investigation goes beyond stupid- it borders on treasonous– to deny Congress the papers to which they are entitled by asserting executive privilege, which does not exist if the Rezident wasn’t involved, is treason, as Holder took an oath (which apparently means little to Liberal Socialists) to uphold ALL the laws of the United States, not just the ones he agrees with.
