Tis The Season For Logic And Reason

I’ve fallen my fair share of trees, but don’t get the wrong opinion, I am not a professional faller. We didn’t log commercially, we had a sawmill on the ranch and only bought lumber when we needed hardwoods other than poplar for building furniture or windows. We usually cut two to twenty truck loads of trees every winter depending on what was to be built later on in the year.

Falling is a technical and dangerous skill. Widow makers and barber chairs can happen in less than a second and your life is changed forever or over. A inch and a half branch falling from thirty feet up is enough to crack a hard hat and the skull of an unlucky faller. Trees with a vertical imperfection or split will sometimes crack lengthwise during the falling procedure and the top slab will crush or cut the faller in half. Actually it is all a numbers game. I would fall between a hundred and six hundred live trees every winter. A real logging faller will fall over a hundred trees a day. His chances of getting killed are much greater. Those numbers are for green or live trees and does not take into consideration the dry trees you log for firewood.

Sun Bunny [Reader Post]

Sometimes it is just a bazaar puzzle when there happens to be a sultry sexy 28 year old soap opera actress from Brazil who caresses and kisses a hairless octogenarian, whom she has been dating for five years, while sunbathing on a secluded beach on the tropical Caribbean island paradise St. Bart’s while they both plan political strategies that attack global warming-climate change at an upcoming UN summit in New York. So instead of smooching grandpa on the cheek this long legged sex bomb is an item of sexual interest that prances about around the world in luxury suite bedrooms with George Soros.

The Left Still Doesn’t Get the Tea Party, As Told Through the Stages of Death and Dying Part 1 of 2 [Reader Post]

Author’s note: I had originally started writing this piece back in November of 2010, but life events put my blogging on hold for a bit. I was just getting to the point where I thought that the left’s hatred for the Tea Party was finally starting to die down since the movement’s evolution started taking it away from the highly visible protest rallies and with it, out of the cameras and out of liberals’ psyches. Then came all of the recent hysterics by the left as the recent debt ceiling issue brought all of the pent-up hatred they have for the Tea Party coming up to boil in an embarrassing explosion of rhetoric fueled by unthinking rage that made me decide that it was time to finish this piece once and for all. With all of the events that have taken place this wound up being a lot longer than expected and needed to be broken into two parts. To start where I left off a few months ago…

Accounting 101 for the Post Office [Reader Post]

An onslaught of crying jags by the postal unions and by the liberal media has followed the announcement this week that things have to change at the United States Postal Service to preserve its very existence. Postal unions are claiming that Republicans irreparably harmed the Post Office by requiring annual payments of about $5.5 billion each year until 2015, which according to the WaPo, is designed “to prepay into an employee retirement fund each year to ensure that its increasing financial woes will not leave taxpayers shouldering costs.” Balderdash!
