Word comes that Barack Obama has engaged the United States into a fourth war- in Yemen. Once again this is done without the advice or consent of Congress. This diminutive property on the Arabian Peninsula is clearly an imminent threat to the United States. As the costs for Barack’s Libyan adventure spiral to who knows where Obama finds another swamp in which to mire the United States. The guy who was dead set against the war in Iraq has now initiated two of his own wars. The guy who said “Change in the region will not and cannot be imposed by the United States or any foreign power” has toppled one government in the Middle East and is waging war on two more.
It started in Tunisia. President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali was forced out following a revolt. What is to follow is at best uncertain, but there are clues. Islamic Fundamentalists burned down three brothels in Tunis.
Under Ali, Tunisia was fairly Westernized:
About 98 percent of the population of 10 million is Muslim, but Tunisia’s liberal social policies and Western lifestyle shatter stereotypes of the Arab world. Abortion is legal, polygamy is banned and women commonly wear bikinis on the country’s Mediterranean beaches. Wine is openly sold in supermarkets and imbibed at bars across the country.
Any changes will be the bellwether for the future. Elections are expected in July or August and at least one Islamic candidate is anticipated. Four months after the revolt, economic conditions are deteriorating and certain groups thrive in such a milieu. Ennahdha, a religious political movement outlawed under Ali, is reorganizing. Ennahdha is allied with another similar group- the Muslim Brotherhood.
Perhaps seeing himself as the George Washington of the Arab Spring, Obama kicked out Hosni Mubarak out of Cairo to make room for democracy but dark clouds are appearing over the region.
The Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafis have formed a coalition to bring about an Islamic state in Egypt.
Salafists are generally described as Muslims who consider the period of early Islam and the “Salaf” (forefathers), or first generations of Muslims, as exemplary role models. The term “Salafi Jihadists” refers to those Salafis who support a violent, jihadist ideology.
The Muslim Brotherhood, frequently described as “fundamentalist”, has been banned in Egypt since 1948. Until recently.
The Muslim Brotherhood, once illegal in Egypt, has been legalized and recognized as a political party under the name “Freedom and Justice Party.”
It is argued that this merger has placed Egypt’s Christians in great peril.
Since the pro-democratic happenings in Tahrir Square in January, Egypt’s Christian minority has been consistently persecuted by uncorked crazies. Churches have been set alight and some areas of the country have grown so parlous that Christians are holed up in their homes, afraid to attend Mass even on Palm Sunday. The assurances of Abd Al-Azim, a leader of Gama’a in Alexandria, will have failed to persuade them to do otherwise: “If the Christians want safety they should submit to the rule of God and be confident that the Islamic sharia will protect them.”
Just this week, 190 people were detained overnight in Cairo after 12 people were killed and over 180 hurt in the working-class neighbourhood of Imbaba, where two Coptic churches and people’s homes were firebombed. The reason? A Salafi-hatched rumour that a Christian woman had converted to Islam in order to marry a Muslim man and was being held against her will in the Saint Mena Church (one of the two burnt). This came after another Christian, Camilia Shehata, had gone on television to deny a similar allegation about her proscribed conversion to Islam.

After disposing of Mubarak, Obama put the cross hairs on Moammar Gaddafi. First, Obama demanded that Gaddafi leave Libya. When Gaddafi refused to knuckle under, Barack Obama, who ignored the “Arab Spring” in Iran, found something or other in Libya so compelling that he initiated a “kinetic military operation” which was to take “days, not weeks.” The War Powers Act has expired and Barack Obama has once again let us know he does not need to operate within the confines of the law or the Constitution. Obama now speaks of our participation in these wars as “NATO” to confuse liberals so they won’t think the US is involved. For the very same reason, Obama uses the term “kinetic military action” instead of “war.” Obama’s KMA has overtly targeted Gaddafi for death. Instead, it has resulted in the deaths of untold numbers of civilians and members of Gaddafi’s family, including a son and three grandchildren.
Next in the queue is Yemen. The US “condemned bloody political violence in Yemen” and demanded that Yemen’s President Saleh leave his country. Saleh dug his heels in and before you could say Fatoot Saleh was injured in a bombing, allegedly at the hands of an “outlaw gang.” By pure coincidence the US has stepped up its covert (kinetic?) military operations in Yemen, allegedly targeting the Al Qaida militants who are going to fill the void in the country that Obama is working hard to create.
Obama’s foreign policy for the Middle East is clear and it is straight out of the Windy City. He asks you to leave and if you don’t, you get a visit from the drone fairy.
Obama can possibly force all of these leaders from power but without direct intervention, he opens the door for the most motivated of opportunists- the Islamists that these leaders kept suppressed for a long time. Bad as they were or are, the leaders whose elimination Barack Obama is overseeing were allies in the war on terror.
There is unrest in Algeria now as well that has been ongoing for nearly twenty years. The roots of that unrest are not different from the rest of the region- Fundamentalist Islam. Algeria is also an ally in the war on terror.
Most curiously, corruption and human rights abuse- the very reasons given for the revolts in these countries- is not enough to thwart a meeting between Barack Obama and President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon:

Today, June 12th, 2011, Turkey has its election.
If the current regime, the AK Party, is reelected—and it could be, given Turkey’s electoral system, with less than thirty percent of the vote, the emboldened Islamist regime will hit the accelerator in transforming Turkey into as much of an Islamist state as possible.
The ruling AK Party has been cautious, concealing its aims and pretending to be a “center-right” reform party.
Only 12% of Turks actually WANT an Islamist state, but what does that matter?
The AK Party has put its people all over every institution in Turkey, and there are plenty of people who don’t believe the AK Party would institute an Islamist state.
If it does however, Turkey, the Muslim-majority country with the most advanced infrastructure and greatest military capability in the world, will be in the enemy camp.
When the AK Party took over only partly, Turkey ended its pact with Israel.
Turkey has been, under AK Party, disengaging from its 55 year alliance with the USA, too.
If the AK Party wins big I expect a re-written constitution.
That will be the end of Turkey as the secular state it has been since the 1920’s.
Under the AK rulership (without a majority) journalists, teachers and anyone else who disagrees is simply arrested and held.
So far, there are thousands being held, pending trial, for over three years!
There are 79 million people in Turkey, but the Jews are already fleeing.

America should have realized that Obama was going to be on the wrong side of freedom when he supported the constitutionally ousted president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya. When Zelaya was booted, due to his corruption, a few national heads came to his rescue; Castro, Chavez and Obama. Honduras, a truely poor nation, was threatened with the withdrawal of U.S. aid if they did not reinstate Zelaya by Hillary Clinton, under the orders of her boss.
When Egypt erupted in protests and riots, we were assured by those White House mouth pieces, like the NYSlimes, that the Muslim Brotherhood had NOTHING to do with the protests because they were outlawed in Egypt. That proved to be wrong (the Slimes just parroting what was coming out of the White House) and now the MB is poised to take over in Egypt. Pew Research studies show that a large percentage of Egyptian Muslims want a government controlled by Shir’ia law. That spells doom for the Copts, and any cooperation with Israel, and puts Egypt on the side of Iran and Islamic domination, and not on the side of democracy. Those who were in the know, warned that Cairo will become Tehran on The Nile very quickly. Nevermind that CodePink, and Medea Benjamin who was a bundler for Obama, played a strong part in organizing the Egyptian protests. The media ignored that.
The forces were there, starting with Tunisia, to roll across the Arab world like a heavy fog. The Islamists (as Janet Napolitano calls them) were poised to take control of the protests, quietly and stealthly. It was ignored by the White House and touted as “freedom” movements.
Jimmy Carter ignored all the signs in Iran, not wanting to admit that the dictator we knew was better than what we were going to get when the radical Muslims took control of power. And for that mistake, and turning his back on the Shah who had made Iran the most profitable, westernized nation in the ME, we pay for it now. The same will prove true of Mubarak, a dictator we knew, trading him for the Muslim Brotherhood. It will not serve the U.S., or Israel, well.
Then, when the riots stated in Syria, the White House (especially Hillary) supported Baby Assad, saying he was going to bring democracy to his people. Oooops. And while the human rights violations in Syria are worse than they ever were in Lybia, this administration seems to ignore that.
Perhaps that is the goal of the Oval Office. To weaken Israel. All signs point that way.

Morocco is the most Westernized country in the Arab firmament. Mohammed VI should gradually move toward broader democratic rules of governance, and he can side-step the shitstorm (excuse the dysphemism) that is sweeping the whole of the Middle East. Morocco’s proximity to Europe, literally just over 8 miles across the strait of Gibraltar, provides it unique opportunities.
Recently, Moroccan protesters have demanded greater democracy, plus an end to corruption, but they have not demanded a change in regime, as has occurred elsewhere.
The upcoming referendum on the constitutional changes for Morocco, should be very telling as to future stability, and could present a positive example for other countries throughout the region – if Mohammed VI handles it right, that is, and actually implements real democratic changes, and opens up broader participation in the economy.

Yemen is going to fall under outside control. Ninety percent of the nation’s income has come from oil production, and their reserves are rapidly approaching total depletion. They’ve got nothing else to sell but their strategic position, which could easily control access to the Red Sea, the Gulf of Auden, and passage to the Persian Gulf. Iran wants that. If the fundamentalist extremist factions take control of Yemen, Iran will likely get it. Iran is likely funding them.
Are conservatives really all OK with that? They have no concerns about what it could mean for Egypt and Israel?

I had the privilege of know the present King Mohammed’s father a very great man! The whole of the country mourned his death, Muslims, Jews and Christians alike. I was watching how the IDF would react to the “peaceful” protesters that were organized to crash the border at the Golan Heights. I was thinking claymore mines, barbed wire, water cannons, cs gas, dogs, armored vehicles, buffer zones, rubber bullets, and officers with complete authority. The peaceniks tried to infiltrate and some mines exploded. Molotov cocktails were thrown(WRONG). What happens to explosive devices when heated with hot open flames? 22 were killed and many wounded from the claymores.
A spokesman on Turkish television said that the incident was terrible. Later, she said that muslims killing muslims is acceptable. Victims of their own rhetoric( you think!). Crickets from the MSM.

Obama sees the Middle East as his laboratory. A place where he can install Marxist views, under the auspices of democracy. But Obama really isn’t as smart as he would have you believe, and the Islamists will control the Middle East, starting with Egypt, just as they took control of Iran after the fall of the Shah. Perhaps Obama figures that by that time he will be gone. He should read about the Iranian revolution and how long it took for that country to radicalize. It could happen in Obama’s first term.
The problem with a radicalized Middle East is that Obama is making the same mistakes Carter made, times ten.

Now he is using NATO so that when the shit hits the fan in Lybia, and it turns out badly, he can claim he was just going along with the EU. Plausible deniability.
