I’m gonna take it upon myself to be #1. You can all give me a round of applause.

I’m sure most of the crowd here has already seen this but if I’m wrong here it is.

The Iranian propaganda movie: The Coming Is Upon Us.

http://www.iraniumthemovie.com/the-coming-is-upon-us/

Here are a couple of videos of tree triming by guys that seemed to have watched too many episodes of Home Improvement.

The beginings of Westworld

I think we should institute a weekly award for biggest hypocrite.

My nomination for this week goes to NY Rep. Anthony Weiner, who said this last year,

“It’s insulting to all New Yorkers that countries like Yemen, Zimbabwe and Iran owe the City millions in unpaid parking tickets,” Congressman Weiner said via press release. “Diplomats park illegally, ignore paying their parking tickets and expect New Yorkers to pick up the tab. This needs to end.”

Now this:

The self-appointed scourge of diplomatic scofflaws in Manhattan, Weiner racked up more than $2,000 in parking tickets around Capitol Hill.

Just another example of a pompous, self-adsorbed politician telling the public to “do as I say, not as I do.”

@johngalt:
Wow!
That $2,000 in unpaid tickets for the Weiner man is too much!
All of our Congress, House and Senate owes $15,000 in unpaid tickets.
Had it been evenly spread throughout the 535 of them it would only be $28. apiece.
So, Weiner man owes the lion’s share!

News from Obama’s adopted home state:

Caterpillar’s CEO warned Illinois last week that the state’s anti-business climate is forcing the company to consider leaving.
The Illinois governor’s response? No way.

What planet does he live on?
Yes, way!

Even the local UAW boss was appalled at Ill. Gov. Pat Quinn’s nonchalance and told an NBC affiliate in East Peoria that Caterpillar does not bluff. “When they are talking to you, you better listen. Because if you don’t listen, bad things can happen,” said Local 974 President Dave Chapman, in authentic union vernacular.

BTW, according to the nonpartisan Tax Foundation: “The corporate income tax is set to rise from 7.3% to 10.9%, a 49% increase and (making Illinois‘) the highest state corporate income tax in the United States and the highest combined national-local corporate income tax in the industrialized world.”

In other words, anyplace Caterpillar moves — and that means anywhere — the tax situation will be an improvement on what it faces in Illinois.

More at IBD

Obama in the past has discussed Bush and Cheney being in bed with “Big Oil”, and the tax breaks and subsidies given to their “friends in the oil industry”.

Now we get this from Obama:

When the White House announced the federal government would loan $465 million to Tesla, a California start-up company with plans to develop an all-electric sedan, President Obama called it an “historic opportunity to ensure that the next generation of fuel-efficient cars and trucks are made in America.”

The loan also represented a lucrative opportunity for Steve Westly, a major investor in the car company who had raised more than $500,000 for the president’s campaign.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/obama-fundraiser-steve-westly/story?id=13250247

And that was just the first of many half billion dollar, government backed “loans” to so-called green companies owned by, or with board members, who gave to Obama’s 2008 election campaign.

I don’t believe he’s changed the atmosphere in DC. Just who is allowed to partake in it.

—————————BOOTS ON THE GROUND – ALERT—————————

(CNN) There are multiple reports out today that President Barack Obama has signed a “secret order” authorizing covert U.S. support for Libyan rebel forces.

According to Reuters:

Obama signed the order, known as a presidential “finding,” within the last two or three weeks, according to four U.S. government sources familiar with the matter.

Such findings are a principal form of presidential directive used to authorize secret operations by the Central Intelligence Agency. This is a necessary legal step before such action can take place but does not mean that it will.

Meanwhile, ABC News is reporting that the finding doesn’t “provide arms to the rebels immediately, although it does prepare for such a contingency and other contingencies should the president decide to go down that road in the future.”

I read on a news paper from 26 of march, that CANADIAN to head LIBYAN MISSION;
A yet to be fully defined mission, the appointment of LT-GENERAL CHARLES BOUCHARD ,
AS COMMANDER OF NATO FORCES IN LIBYA to assume control of a nofly zone in LIBYA,
as part of the UNITED NATION BACKED MISSION, aim of protecting citizens
SUPPORTING THE OUSTER OF MUAMMAR GADDAFI, FROM BEING ATTACK BY LIBYAN AIR FORCE,

THE weard thing is following my comment above is,;
WESTERN governments HOPE the raids lauched last saturday [before the 26] with the aims of protecting civilians WILL SHIFT THE BALANCE OF POWER IN FAVOR OF THE ARAB’S WORLD MOST VIOLENT
POPULAR REVOLT.

Hmmm. Now this just sounds fishy, and even if it were on the up and up, I’d think there was a severe conflict of interest going on.

Report clears Justice Department in Black Panther case

The Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has concluded an investigation finding that politics played no role in the handling of the New Black Panther Party case, which sparked a racially charged political fight.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/report-clears-doj-in-black-panther-case/2011/03/29/AFY6bTzB_story.html

And who says the good ol’ boys network doesn’t play in DC anymore?

Liberal contradictions in “logic”

Those convicted of murder should not be executed—Murding innocent unborn babies is a right!

Attacking a sovereign country with Congressional approval to remove a dictator guilty of murdering his own people= bad. Attacking a sovereign country WITHOUT Congressional approval to remove a dictator guilty of murdering his people= good.

Stock market at 14k+ = worst economy since the great depression. Stock market a bit over 12K = recovery

@ Never Right,

Stock market at 14k+ = worst economy since the great depression. Stock market a bit over 12K = recovery

Maybe you miss this, but the DJIA had dropped 53% (from its high) to 6,547…

6,547 to 12351 =a recovery in the markets.

@blast:

Way to show your lack of rational thought. Thanks for proving my point.
I notice you didn’t touch the other statements. Shocka.

Muslim lady in Scotland claims to have found the word ”allah” written in mold inside her potato.

The funny part are the comments.
Like:

Sounds like the making of a great country-western song, “I found allah in my potato.”

‘Moldy’ says it all…

”You got potato on my Allah!” …… ”No, you got your Allah in my potato!”

Do you want your allah mashed, boiled, baked, roasted or fried? We have to know because each one requires a different vest.

She should make Potoatos Allah Gratin.

@Hardly Right

Way to show your lack of rational thought. Thanks for proving my point.
I notice you didn’t touch the other statements. Shocka.

Lack of rational thought? I point out how factually wrong you are and that is the best you can do? Do I need to spell it out clearer for you? The market dropped to 6,547 during this economic crisis, it has gone up to 12319.73 as of the closing today. What part of that is not a good result?

“I notice you didn’t touch the other statements” I am having too much fun pointing out how stupid your math is already. Why bother looking at the rest.

US-made robotic devices are enroute to Japan for possible use at the reactor site. These include iRobot’s 710 Warrior and 510 PackBot.

Not going to Japan: Boston Dynamic’s Big Dog, a experimental robotic quadruped designed as a military packbot.

GREG that is good news for JAPAN, hope it bring a great help for the problem they have,
thank you,

@blast:

Digging yourself deeper. This is too much fun for me to tell you how big an idiot you are making of yourself.
Ok, I’ll give you a hint: Stock market as an economic indicator per the left.
Again, how about commenting on the other points? Too true to even try and refute, I guess.

ObamaCare – Live Your Carefree Lifestyle.
LOL!

Nan G, yes but I DID NOT SEE YOUR COMMENT,
bye, teasing you

Nan G, how did you do that, it’s now you see, now you dont

@Never Right,

Ok, I’ll give you a hint: Stock market as an economic indicator per the left.

ROTFLOL! Seriously?

As to the rest of your comment, abortion and presidential authority… I have already commented about the presidential authority in another thread…and as you have said to me… Look it up if you want to know my position.

On the other issues, I am Catholic and don’t believe in abortion and capital punishment… in keeping with my church’s position.

HMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………..

Looks suspiciously like Fukishima Nuclear Power Plant will be entombed in cement.
http://ofwnow.com/global-news/giant-pumps-flown-to-japan/10166
Well, if they go that route at least they can move onto other things.
So much else needs doing to get Japan back up and running besides babysitting that catastrophe.

@ilovebeeswarzone:
Sorry, bees,
I first tried the ”embed” code for the video and ended up with nothing.
So, I edited it to place the link to the page the video is on instead.

I don’t do magic, lol!

I should have known I’d have to spoon feed a lefty.

The left swore up and down the economy was horrible when the stock market was at 14k+ and that it wasn’t an indicator of how good or bad the economy was.
Now they want to jump up and down and say how good the economy is because it’s at 12k+ I’m sure the change from a Republican president to a Dem pres has noooothing to do with it. (roll eyes)
Again it just goes to show the flaming hypocrisy of the left.

Blast, you don’t need to spell it out clearer, just think that we are aware
of the FLUCTUATION OF THE MARKET FROM MORNING TO EVENING,

Greg wrote:

I really hope they are not too late.

An ABC news correspondent in Tokyo got a chance to fly over Fukishima.
One part of a Q&A:

MARK COLVIN: I’ve seen a lot of reports that suggest that some of these cooling ponds were pretty close to the roof of at least one of the reactors that exploded or reactor buildings that exploded, is that right?

SHANE MCLEOD: I’ve actually been into this nuclear power plant, Mark, and yeah they are, they’re right at the top but as you walk in or as you walked in there was a big expanse, like a massive room on top of these reactors where you could stand on top of the reactor and it’s sort of marked out on the floor where the top of the reactor is.

And then probably about, I guess, 50 metres away were these storage pools and they glow a sort of a brilliant blue and you can look down into them, they’re very deep, and you can see these nuclear fuel rods stored down there.

So, yes they are, they’re up high in the building. They’re right up in that area where, as you would have seen from the television pictures, that’s where the most, most of the damage seems to be focused.
http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2011/s3167975.htm

Now, that cannot be good.
But in point of fact, Mr. McLeod didn’t say when he saw this.
Is it new today?
Or has it been this way since after the roofs blew off the reactors?

Look at the most recent summary report for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS).

The average annual salary in 2010 for active working educators enrolled in the system was $64,156. The next table states that the average retirement benefit paid out in 2010 was $4,256 per month. That’s $51,072 annually.

In 28 states WORKING teachers are bringing home LESS than that!

How long can we keep paying people so much for nothing?
CalSTRs is only 78% funded right now.
They can’t afford it.
So, who’s going to bail them out?

@Nan G, #28:

Did you happen to notice that CalSTR’s retirement system is based primarily on the investment of their holdings into the private sector? The amount invested totals around $150.1 billion. Surely any self-respecting capitalist would appreciate the significance of such a pool of capital. It’s the sort of thing that underpins the business loans they depend upon.

Isn’t this along the same conceptual lines as what many republicans have argued should be an alternative or adjunct to the current Social Security retirement system?

Nan G, the brilliant blue in the spent fuel ponds is, from what I understand, a normal occurrence and called Cerenkov Radiation.

Historically, Cerenkov radiation was discovered by Pavel Cerenkov in 1934, while he was studying the effects of radioactive substances on liquids. He noticed that water surrounding certain radioactive substances emitted a faint blue glow, which is now termed Cerenkov radiation. This radiation, as you pointed out, comes from particles travelling at a speed greater than the speed of light in the medium in which they are moving.

More here, including pictures of the Grenoble spent fuel pond and reactor and the blue, glowing water.

The electrons that are ejected from the nuclear fuel elements are fast than the speed of light in water (about 75% of the speed of light in vacuum). Similar to the supersonic bang of jets that fly faster than the speed of sound, Cerenkov radiation is emitted by water as the fast electrons pass through it. The blue shimmer of the Cerenkov radiation is visible on the right of the photo, showing the pool containing spent reactor fuel.

So it seems that is not abnormal.

The spent fuel ponds are located on the service surface floor area of the reactor design.

They’re about 40′ deep, with 4-5 feet concrete walls, reinforced with steel.

BTW, the US huge cement pumps enroute will be used to spray water for cooling, and can do so at a safer distance, and probably with more accuracy than a helicopter in the air. If they can manage to start coolant systems, then cementing the reactors can be an option. However you can’t pour concrete over rods that don’t have controlled cooling. Cement will not harden under those high temperatures. So they have to sort out a way of stabilizing the coolant before that’s an option.

@MataHarley:
Thanks for that, Mata.
Very interesting last paragraph.

Yeah… it had been baffling me as to why they wouldn’t just seal the dang things off. I spent some time in the past week or so, surfing around physics and nuke oriented sites to explain what may be obvious to them, but not to us. I figured it had to do with stabilizing them… but the simplicity of not pouring concrete onto high temperatures escaped my brain cell… LOL

Oh, I forgot to add that the robots being sent are for radiation level detection.

One more add about helicopters dropping water…. remember that electronics are highly sensitive to radiative emissions. Since much of it was emitting straight up, it was hampering the ability of helicopters to hover directly over the spent fuel ponds. Makes the cement cranes, adapted to spray water, more logical. Plus that, if they can restart the coolant systems with the grid power run to the site, they can can turn to their original purpose of cement for sealing.

MATA where are the rods that was mentionned not coolingin the picture?
I was thinking of that chimical that turn instantly to snow or ice, I think it ‘s
made with amoniac, it cool instantly a surface, I don’t recall the name if I ever learned it,
but it could work with that, maybe,

MATA what about getting plane loaded with ice and dump it there, reload and come back, if they could get the first time a many plane fully loade for the first shot, than reduce the amount of planes each shot down to 4 plane coming and going to reload in a random sequence, it could work? maybe

MATA, or shooting the ice trough a hydraulic pump in reverse mode

MATA hi, again, I’m being the APRIL FOOL TONIGHT

I see that, Bees… LOL

Here’s one that oughtta piss everyone off, including some of our liberal friends.

Indiana Fleebagger analogizes his run away from Indiana Assembly to avoid sworn duty to our young service-men and women volunteering to run to Afghanistan to fight

CHEATHAM: The thing that sticks in my mind, I guess, more than anything else — and this is something that has happened. My wife teaches first grade. This past week, one of the kids in her class, a little first grader’s dad is getting sent to Afghanistan. And he was really sad. And she said, ‘Eell, you know, your dad is doing something really good. He’s going to a country where people there are trying to take away the freedoms of other people there, keep them from living a good life. So he’s leaving to do something good.’ And one of the little girls in class just on her own — and this has never been talked about in class, because my wife doesn’t do that — said, ‘It’s kind of like Mr. Cheatham, he left to make our schools better.’ And when I heard that, that gave me a reason —” (drowned out by applause.)

It is amazing sometimes what we are subjected to by those who would deem to rule over us.

johngalt, I think you have a caracter to be a good leader, and I hope you are leading

@Ms. Bees

Thank you, but I do not want it, nor wish it on people. I’ve led when I’ve been called upon to do so, whether back in HS in sports, or the military, or in my career after the military. I believe that one should be fearful of those whose ambition is to lead, for those are the ones who would deem to know what everyone else should be doing, and paying too much attention to those around them, instead of themselves.
