You Want To Investigate Foreign Donations? Start With Obama [Reader Post]

My God, does hypocrisy stink. You can smell it right through your computer screen. Democrats are all wee-wee’d up about the Chamber of Commerce donating to campaigns this year.

Yesterday Barack Obama, whining about alleged foreign money being donated to Republicans, said:

“groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections, and they won’t tell you where the money for their ads come from.”

And he also said

“All Republicans should be concerned. Independents should be concerned. This is a threat to our democracy. The American people deserve to know who’s trying to sway their elections.”

He oughta know.

Then Democrats, properly and rightfully classified as endangered species, also chimed in:

Endangered Democrats in several key Senate races are seizing on what they say is evidence that foreign interests are helping fuel their opponents’ campaigns.

Sens. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) and Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher (D) have blasted their opponents for benefiting from campaign spending by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which accepts foreign contributions to its general treasury fund.

Senator Stuart Smalley also added:

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) has called on the Federal Election Commission to investigate allegations that the Chamber has used money from foreign groups for political ads.

NOW they’re concerned about questionable campaign donations? Senator Smalley, I’ve got a wonderful place for you to begin your investigations.

Pamela Geller posted an interesting article in which she noted that foreigners were making all kinds of illegal contributions to Obama’s Presidential campaign.

Obama’s overseas (foreign) contributors are making multiple small donations, ostensibly in their own names, over a period of a few days, some under maximum donation allowances, but others are aggregating in excess of the maximums when all added up. The countries and major cities from which contributions have been received France, Virgin Islands, Planegg, Vienna, Hague, Madrid, London, AE, IR, Geneva,Tokyo, Bangkok, Turin, Paris, Munich, Madrid, Roma, Zurich, Netherlands, Moscow, Ireland, Milan, Singapore, Bejing, Switzerland, Toronto, Vancouver, La Creche, Pak Chong, Dublin, Panama, Krabi, Berlin, Geneva, Buenos Aires, Prague, Nagoya, Budapest, Barcelona, Sweden, Taipei, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Zurich, Ragusa, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Uganda, Mumbia, Nagoya, Tunis, Zacatecas, St, Croix, Mississauga, Laval, Nadi, Behchoko, Ragusa, DUBIA, Lima, Copenhagen, Quaama, Jeddah, Kabul, Cairo, Nassau(not the county on Long Island, lol), Luxembourg (Auchi’s stomping grounds), etc, etc, etc,

Among the donors were:

A donor named Hbkjb, jkbkj

City: Jkbjnj Works for: Kuman Bank (doesn’t exist)

Occupation: Balanon Jalalan Amount: $1,077.23

or the donor Doodad, The # of transactions = 1,044

The $ contributed = $10,780.00

This Doodad character works for FDGFDGF and occupation is DFGFDG

Embarrassed in being caught in this fraud, Obama acted.

He disabled the Address Verification Service to prevent anyone from learning where these fraudulent donations were coming from.

Among the other donors to Obama’s campaign?

“John Galt,” “Osama bin Laden,” “Bill Ayers,” “Saddam Hussein,” “Della Ware,” and “Adolfe Hitler,”

The left wing media waited until it was too late to even muster a notice.

Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor’s identity, campaign officials confirmed.

Of the $744 million Obama raised for his campaign, only $485 million is accountable.

Are you really worried about foreign money? So show us you mean it, Barack. This is a great place to start.

This is right out of the Alinsky Rulz Book…Accuse them of what you are doing/have done. It made me sick when I read it yesterday, and you know that no one will call them on it…

Obama is wrong in his claim about the Chamber of Commerce, too.

There is NO ”general fund” into which all 100% of money goes.

Foreign money goes to funding international programs.

The Chamber of Commerce is not obligated to discuss its internal accounting procedures, as it is in compliance with all applicable laws.

The other day Obama used information that could only have come from examining IRS data on two wealthy Republican/TEA Party donors, the Koch brothers.

I thought it was egregious when I read that the Clintons had FBI files they might use on several people.
    This is worse.

Now Obama tries to deflect attention from his acts by yelling about the Chambers of Commerce?

I am stunned that anyone who knows the name John Galt (and, presumably, has read Atlas Shrugged) would donate to a looter. Stunned.

I remember how this story originally came to light.

The Austin Texas Goodwill Industries store started getting lots of ”Thanks You” emails from the Obama campaign.

They brought it to the attention of proper authorities.

That led to the uncovering of a “Good Will” of Austin, Texas, who gave more than $11,000 in small donations to Obama.

The legal limit is $2300 per person, but ”Good Will” isn’t a real person, anyway.
    Whose money was it?

    That’s a good question.
Obama had no where to return the money to!
I think he gave it to the DNC.
But he may have given it to some other organization….ACORN?

WAIT a minute! Clearly, you misunderstand Senator Smalley. He didn’t mean HUSSEIN should be investigated. Good LORD no. Just those evil, corporate type REPUBLICANS.

Good grief. There are so many things that the GOP could make ads and even billboards
concerning the democrats and their corruption hypocrisy’s and lies. There are tons of corruption stories that the average Joe Blow will not be aware of.

    Hard Right

Too bad the story Obama based his lies on was pure BS. It was from Think Pogress which is amusing because leftists don’t think.

Let’s not forget Obama received 24K from Hamas, his ideological buds when it comes to Jew hate.

My good friends Alfred E. Newman and Byt Me Tu disclaim any knowledge of those events. We’ll have to fumigate the the Peoples House when this jerk is gone. I’m still hoping for impeachment followed by a nice trial for treason and really LONG stay deep underground.

@neil: #8 The only ones I see voting for Obama AGAIN are the ones receiving welfare and the Federal employees. We are in a recession but he is on a Federal hiring binge for more votes, and more people are going on welfare all of the time. Both groups will vote for him to keep their Federal checks coming.

Glenn Reynolds nails this one: the Obama Democrats’ campaign riff against foreign donations to Democrats is bogus—and according to the New York Times, no less. This looks like a matter of projection, since it’s well documented that the 2008 Obama campaign did not put in place address verification software that would have routinely prevented most foreign donations. In effect they were encouraging donations by foreign nationals. Here’s the Washington Post on this back in October 2008: Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor’s identity, campaign officials confirmed. Faced with a huge influx of donations over the Internet, the campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged.” And here’s our own Washington Examiner editorial from the time: “Then there’s the question of whether foreign nationals are contributing to the Obama campaign. There is more than enough evidence to warrant a full-scale investigation by the Federal Election Commission, including the $32,332.19 that appears to have come from two brothers living in a Hamas-controlled Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah, GA (that’s Gaza, not Georgia). The brothers’ cash is part of a flood of illegal foreign contributions accepted by the Obama campaign.”

The Obama campaign was happy to encourage mass illegal donations from foreign nationals. Now it’s making baseless charges that its opposition is doing the same thing. Hope and change!

I read through that Pot Calls Kettle blog by Michael Barone this morning. Not only was it informative, it had links to back it up from the NY Times, WaPo and Instapundit linked to the National Journal. Barone’s sources pretty much covered everything for anyone wanting to refresh.

It’s not really the pot calling the kettle black when the accusations by Obama have turned out to be in error.

Remember Obama/Hillary/Democrat top fund-raiser and convicted fraudster/campaign finance crook Norman Hsu.

Remember Obama/Hillary/Democrat top fund-raiser and convicted fraudster/campaign finance crook Hasan Nemazee.

Remember soft-on-China Obama Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, shady Buddhist temple cash collector.

Remember Senate Democrats raising funds in Canada.

Remember Obama’s presidential campaign soliciting foreign donations on its website (via Doug Ross):

Remember: Obama’s Foreign Donors: The media averts its eyes.

Obama’s campaign said it would refund the money to the foreign donors the AP identified.

One donor, Tom Sanderson of Canada, made clear his $500 contribution came from a foreign source. He included a note that said, “I am not a American citizen!” Obama’s campaign took the money anyway, even publishing Sanderson’s cautionary statement about his citizenship in its official finance reports.

Obama has raised at least $2 million abroad, far more than McCain’s total of at least $229,000, according to the AP’s review of campaign finance records…

…The AP analyzed 1.27 million campaign contributions to Obama and McCain to identify 6,948 contributions from people who appeared to live outside the United States and who were not obviously in the U.S. military. The AP contacted 123 donors in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain and Switzerland and interviewed them about their citizenship and donations.

Obama has far more overseas donors than McCain, and that was reflected in the number of interviews: the AP was able to reach 116 Obama supporters, six McCain backers and one donor who gave to both.

Australian Richard Watters gave Obama’s campaign $1,000 over the Internet, entering a fake U.S. passport number — a random jumble of numbers and letters — so the site would take his money. He said he also checked a box stating that he was an American living overseas, “because I could see it wasn’t going anywhere if I didn’t do that.”

Watters was surprised when a reporter told him it was illegal for foreigners to donate to U.S. presidential campaigns, but he said he was still glad he gave.

…Swiss citizen Gilles Massamba gave Obama at least $436 and received campaign souvenirs. He said the campaign didn’t ask whether he was a U.S. citizen.

Remember: FEC Issues Record Fines In Democrats’ Scandals; Commission Faults Players in 1996 Foreign Fundraising.

And don’t forget this fun fact: “The outrage over the Chamber is especially amusing considering the role of foreigners in U.S. labor unions. According to the Center for Competitive Politics, close to half of the unions that are members of the AFL-CIO are international.”

  13. 17

What about Obama’s receiving contributions from Rafa, Gaza?

How has the FEC investigated these abuses that occured in 2008. I bet it’s been swept under Obummer’s rug. Saul Alinsky 101 accuse the other side of the same things your doing so that it makes them look like they are guilty and you are innocent.

The FEC has compiled a separate database of potentially questionable overseas donations [to the Obama campaign] that contains more than 11,500 contributions totaling $33.8 million. More than 520 listed their “state” as “IR,” often an abbreviation for Iran. Another 63 listed it as “UK,” the United Kingdom.

More than 1,400 of the overseas entries clearly were U.S. diplomats or military personnel, who gave an APO address overseas. Their total contributions came to just $201,680. But others came from places as far afield as Abu Dhabi, Addis Ababa, Beijing, Fallujah, Florence, Italy, and a wide selection of towns and cities in France.

Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Unlike McCain’s or Sen. Hillary Clinton’s online donation pages, the Obama site did not ask for proof of citizenship until just recently….

In July and August, the head of the Nigeria’s stock market held a series of pro-Obama fundraisers in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city. The events attracted local Nigerian business owners. At one event, a table for eight at one fundraising dinner went for $16,800. Nigerian press reports claimed sponsors raked in an estimated $900,000. The sponsors said the fundraisers were held to help Nigerians attend the Democratic convention in Denver. But the Nigerian press expressed skepticism of that claim, and the Nigerian public anti-fraud commission is now investigating the matter.

In June, Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi gave a public speech praising Obama, claiming foreign nationals were donating to his campaign. “All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man,” the Libyan leader said. “They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency…”

[O]n July 31 that donors from the Gaza strip had contributed $33,000 to the Obama campaign through bulk purchases of T-shirts they had shipped to Gaza…. A pair of Palestinian brothers named Hosam and Monir Edwan contributed more than $31,300 to the Obama campaign in October and November 2007, FEC records show. Their largesse attracted the attention of the FEC almost immediately. In an April 15, 2008, report that examined the Obama campaign’s year-end figures for 2007, the FEC asked that some of these contributions be reassigned. The Obama camp complied sluggishly, prompting a more detailed admonishment form the FEC on July 30. The Edwan brothers listed their address as “GA,” as in Georgia, although they entered “Gaza” or “Rafah Refugee camp” as their city of residence on most of the online contribution forms…. The latest Obama campaign filing shows that $891.11 still has not been refunded to the Edwan brothers, despite repeated FEC warnings and campaign claims that all the money was refunded in December.

A …review of the Obama campaign finance filings found that the FEC had asked for the redesignation or refund of 53,828 donations, totaling just under $30 million.

But none involves the donors who never appear in the Obama campaign reports, which the [Center for Responsive Politics] estimates at nearly half the $426.8 million the Obama campaign has raised to date.

The New York Times (Of All Media!) punched a fatal hole in Obama’s fact-free attack on the US Chambers of Commerce!

The Times reports, the White House had absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing.

Orwell would be proud of Obama………

He makes an accusation of lawbreaking without any evidence of it, and the entity accused has to prove their innocence?

In this country, the government has to prove its case, not the defendant, and even before making an accusation of wrongdoing usually has to have some evidence of the crime in the first place.

I guess, at this rate, I must allege that Obama uses (or used when Andy Stern used to visit every 2 weeks) cocaine in the White House.

It is now on him to PROVE I’m wrong, right?
    Same ”logic.”

Democrats in the Senate on Thursday held a recess hearing covering a taxpayer bailout of union pensions and a plan to seize private 401(k) plans to more “fairly” distribute taxpayer-funded pensions to everyone.

Called the “Guaranteed Retirement Account” (GRA).

Under the GRA system government would seize private 401(k) accounts, setting up an additional 5% mandatory payroll tax to dole out a “fair” pension to everyone using that confiscated money coupled with the mandated contributions.

All the written testimony is here.

@Nan G: #18 He makes an accusation of lawbreaking without any evidence of it.

He makes accusations of success in programs without any evidence of it. Maybe he is trying reverse psycology.

The “Guaranteed Retirement Account” will guarantee you at least a 3% return. Obama figures this will be enough to keep you at or below the poverty level for your retirement. I am glad I am drawing my Social Security and that my 401(K) is now an IRA.

The gloves can come off now.
    Let the fur fly!
Let us demand, without ceasing, that the 10,000,000 donors to Obama, as claimed on the Government website, have all information released (credit card numbers, addresses, and all other information).
Let Every Republican demand full accounting.
Let every blog demand full accounting.
Let us call for openness (the most open administration in history).
Let us demand Congressional accounting (we will clean up the swamp).
When the finger is pointed, four fingers point at oneself.
By the way, ask for an explanation of all those checks Gore got from the penniless nuns.
This is the most illegal, devious, vicious, anti-American government in history.

I just received an offer to participate in an Obama raffle:

    John —

The path this country takes after November 2nd will be determined by what we do over the next 22 days.

That’s the message the President is delivering on the stump across the country, but he’ll be the first to tell you: he needs you at his side.

We want to thank and recognize the people who are driving this grassroots campaign — organizing house meetings, talking to voters, and funding this effort one small donation at a time.

On October 22nd, the President will be kicking off the final push at a grassroots rally in Las Vegas. And we’re saving three backstage passes for supporters like you.

Donate $3 now to be automatically registered for a chance to win a trip to meet President Obama backstage in Las Vegas.

    Now check this out:

On one side is the millions from undisclosed donors attacking our candidates. On the other is us. And each and every one of us who is committed to this struggle for change has a role to play.

    Undisclosed donors are BAD!

Unless, of course, you are Barack Hussein.

We’re flying three winners to Las Vegas to meet the President backstage just before he speaks at one of the most important rallies before Election Day.

It’s BYOB! (Bring your own Book)

Related to that was this from Michelle Obama:

First Lady Michelle Obama kicks off her political travel for Democrats on Wednesday with stops in Chicago and Milwaukee.

In Chicago, Mrs. Obama headlines two receptions for Democratic Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias–officially the Illinois Victory Fund 2010, (a combo of the Giannoulias campaign and the Democratic Party of Illinois) both at the University Club of Chicago, 76 E. Monroe.

*For $10,000 raised or donated a person gets two tickets and a photo.

There is a warning note on the invite that is a bit unusual, but necessary to make sure Mrs. Obama does not get into a photo she will later regret.

The warning: “Guest list is subject to review and admittance is not guaranteed.”

*For $2,400 per person, preferred seating.

    *For $1,000, general admission.

    *”Limited tickets: available for $750.

What is the Chamber afraid of?
Let’s see a list of all the outsourcing companies in India and Bahrain ect.
-that are anonymously donating millions to effect the American election outcome!
The repubs they support are shipping American jobs overseas, putting us on the un-employment line!
The Chamber and anybody who supports the outsourcing of American jobs are traitors.
The right-leaning middle class are supporting leaders that are selling them out everyday.
Where have the American jobs gone?
Chamber: Be honest and show us your donor list!
    What are you afraid of?
Being called un-American traitors, that’s what!
Unemployed folks: Your job went to India, where your job now pays 10% of what it used to.
