Pervert DA Insists He Needs Therapy, Refuses To Resign

Ken Kratz, a 50 year old District Attorney for Calumet County, Wisconsin, has issued a “sincere and heartfelt apology” to a victim, his soon to be former wife and the people of Wisconsin. Amid ever increasing calls for his resignation, he has resigned himself to therapy and time off for texting a recent 26 year old victim of domestic abuse and trying to entice her into a sexual relationship by impressing her with his prestige, status, house and income. At a news conference that was held two days after the AP release of the 30 texts he admitted the texts displayed an arrogance.

“This behavior showed a lack of respect, not only for my position but for the young woman that was involved,” he said from the courthouse in Chilton in remarks carried live by Wisconsin television stations. “My behavior was inappropriate. I’m embarrassed and ashamed for the choices that I’ve made and the fault was mine alone.”

In one of the messages, the 50 year old Kratz asked if she was:

“the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA.” In others he called her a “tall, young, hot nymph” and questioned whether her “low self-esteem” was to blame for her lack of interest. At the time, he was prosecuting her ex-boyfriend on strangulation charges.

The admission of arrogance and impropriety is the most remorse Kratz has exhibited towards sending the inappropriate text messages to the young woman.

In one of the messages, Kratz asked whether she was:

“the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA.” In others he called her a “tall, young, hot nymph” and questioned whether her “low self-esteem” was to blame for her lack of interest.

Victims’ advocacy groups and Fred Kessler D-Milwaukee are pressuring Governor Jim Doyle to remove Kratz from office. Adam Collins, spokes person for the Governor, said the Governor was surprised and shocked by these deeply troubling accounts.

“His repeated attempts to minimize his behavior show he either is in denial or only concerned for his personal interests,” the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault said in a statement. “This pattern would be expected from criminal defendants, but not a sitting district attorney. The groups urged Doyle and Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to “act swiftly to restore justice in Calumet County.” Kratz, a Republican, is not up for re-election in his $105,000 annual job until November 2012.

Apparently the State Attorney General is reviewing the necessary steps for removing a District attorney.

Stephanie Van Groll, 26, complained to the police last year after she received 30 sexually-charged text messages in three days from Kratz in October 2009.

A police report obtained by The Associated Press shows a 50-year-old Kratz asking Van Groll, “Are you the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA…the riskier the better?”

“I would not expect you to be the other woman. I would want you to be so hot and treat me so well that you’d be THE woman! R U that good?” Kratz wrote in another message.

Kratz has been known for the past two decades as an advocate for crime victims. In a statement issued on Wednesday he said he was embarrassed about sending the inappropriate messages.

People can’t help but wonder how many women he took advantage of during those two decades of championing victims. Initially, Kratz maintained that he was the victim of a smear campaign and that it was unfair, because he had not committed a crime. He insisted that the Office of Lawyer Regulation found that he was not guilty of misconduct; however, the Wisconsin District Attorneys’ Association found his actions repugnant and inconsistent with the standards of the profession. They asked Kratz to take appropriate action or they would ask Doyle to remove him.

Kratz is a despicable human being, he tried to take advantage of a woman who was in a vulnerable period in her life by using his position of authority. He has compromised the integrity of the office, the state, and the Republican Party. This type of morally corrupt individual must be purged from public office and we must strive to clean up the Republican Party and let our elected officials know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in the future. These corrupt officials are more damaging to the party than Obama Republicans and this one will be lucky to avoid prison time for taking advantage of his position in soliciting sex from a victim, who was supposedly being protected by the state.

In order to give the Republican Party a re-birth, it will be imperative that we drive this type of predatory pervert from public office and keep them from holding office in the future. The image of Bill Clinton using impressionable young women for personal pleasures will always appeal to certain individuals, that doesn’t mean we need to tolerate the behavior. There is often only a thin line separating the public from the criminal element, Kratz has crossed over that line and an apology is not going to be enough to vindicate his transgression.

This DA needs to be immediately fired, and eventually will be disbarred. No information here on what charges were brought by his wife?

Sacked, disbarred and a horse whipping is too good for him. I recommend pick handle therapy, applied to his head as often as necessary. Lawyers are useful at times but overpaid and quite often resort to all kinds of chicanery to earn their keep.

Some run for Congress, the Senate or the Presidency in order to avoid making an honest living. Hmmm…..

We have snow coming here at my place so I need to get off the laptop and make my honest living. Send Kratz up here to my custody. I need some stables cleaned out and a manure pile hauled off to the pit by wheel barrow. He can be redeemed. A little hard work has that effect.

How many of his previous cases will be or should be overturned due to the present disclosures. If he is not disbarred and removed from office, something stinks.

Hold up a moment there Old Trooper 2, what’s it going to be – pick handle therapy, or redemption through manure hauling? 🙂

@ james raider, both are successful, no drugs, few sessions and clean stables result. His Legal career is now trashed and done. How many folks has he harmed in his tenure as a DA?

Let Calumet County re-try any cases that the good Mr. Kratz participated in. Kinda like getting Prince Obama’s College transcripts or Passport data…

Let him shovel some manure for a while. The Pick Handle is just a tool. 😉

Total scumbag.
