Arab World Indifferent To A Monument For Terrorists

Loading

The Director for Al-Arabiya TV,Abd Al-Rahman al-Rashid, has written that “Muslims never asked for” the proposed mosque near Ground Zero, and “do not care about its construction”, on August 16 in a column for the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat.

“I can’t imagine that Muslims [actually] want a mosque at this particular location, because it will become an arena for the promoters of hatred, and a monument to those who committed the crime,” wrote Al-Arabiya director Abd Al-Rahman al-Rashid in the column, which was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute. “Moreover, there are no practicing Muslims in the area who need a place to worship, because it is a commercial district. Is there anyone who is [really] eager [to build] this mosque?”

Al-Rashid said that President Barack Obama’s support of the mosque was similar to the administration’s previous decision to close Guantanamo Bay and try suspected terrorists as civilians. “”Muslims do not [really] yearn [to build] a mosque near the 9/11 cemetery, nor do they care whether bin Laden’s cook is tried in a civilian court [or a military one],” said al-Rashid, noting that “tens of thousands of Muslims, likewise accused of extremism, are imprisoned in [even] worse conditions in the Muslim countries.”

Rashid dispels some of the paranoid emotions in the US by stating that the motives for building the mosque are not necessarily shared by Muslims around the world. He figures there are more important matters than worrying over a mosque that will only cause bitterness among Westerners.

“The last thing Muslims want today is to build a religious center that provokes others, or a symbolic mosque that people will visit as a [kind of] museum next to a cemetery,” said al-Rashid.

Al-Arabiya TV is based out of the United Arab Emirates, and is a direct competitor with Al-Jazeera, another Arab-language news station. Al-Arabiya “is consistently rated among the top pan-Arab stations by Middle East audiences,” reported BBC News in 2003.

Rashid opens up this matter by exposing the true nature of the educated Muslim: perhaps we are be played for fools by rabble rousers, whose vested interested in this project is to ignite hatred and paranoia. There are those for whom the polemic of hatred and division is necessary to advance their cause. For Obama the cause is International Socialism: for the fascist Islamic warmonger, it is necessary to keep hatred and distrust in the forefront or the his goals die from indifference. Thus there are reasons that we are herded like sheep and have our emotions played with as if we are fools. Obama’s political message is dead without emotion, when he stirs the embers of hatred from the Right, his Progressives and Liberals rush in to protect him and swear their fidelity to “Dear Leader”. When an Islamic Fascist rubs our nose in the false emotions of defeat and subservience, he keeps his movement in the forefront.

We need to be careful not to be played for fools by the manipulators who have nothing but enslavement and death to offer.

*Gasp!*

You mean they all don’t think alike?!!

Whoda thunkit?

oops…. add another to the rational side of life.

Fear not, Skookum. Not only has FA never been an echo chamber, there’s a few of us here that – like you – actually figured out that the jihad movements could care less if it’s built or not. They are simply reveling in the win-win situation because of the anti-Islam hatred bubbling to the surface as a result.

Not to mention laughing their tuckus’es off at those who believe the US will become Iran if it’s built. You know, that camel’s nose that grows like Pinnochio’s when it smells a political agenda in the breeze?

Were it so easy to have the US collapse into an Iranian regime, the global Islamic jihad movements would have saved the cash they spent on bullets and mortar rockets a long time ago, and just started building mosques.

Haven’t heard from Smuck Schumer on this. The senior dem senator always gravitates to a microphone or a news video and never shuts up. He and Gillebrand, the other NY senator, have been mighty quiet about this issue. Maybe they see the rope they could hang themselves with.

Skook – Islam and Communism are very compatable in their idiology and methodology. Obama is the perfect blend of the two. He knows he can’t sell Islam just yet but a lot of the sheeple have already bought into socialism. He’s taking the route of least resistance. As for the Al Aribia statement – muslim bullshit at its finest.

It’s not a “monument for terrorists,” it’s a community center which includes a mosque. Hell, I’m Jewish and was in NYC on 9/11 and I support it.

I guess that makes me a beta male or something. 🙁

Al-Rashid is saying that Rauf and his group of mosque builders/supporters are not “moderates.” Quelle surprise!

Hey Googoo or Doodoo,

Hell, I am Jewish too , I think is a monument to terrorists and I was in NYC on 9/11! and I don’t support a mosque! You are a disgrace to humanity !

The opposition to the mosque is irrational and emotionalist.

Tell that to your Grandparents if they have to see Hitler’s picture in the Austwich’s Museum! or putting Mengele’s photo in Yad Vashen? That would be irrational and emotionalist?

From SanFranNan

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday said she supports an investigation into groups opposing the building of a mosque near ground zero in New York.

Pelosi told San Francisco’s KCBS radio that “there is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some.”

“I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up?”

So, we are to make it a federal issue for those who oppose the Mosque. Wait, there’s more:

Still, Pelosi said she’d like to see the issue determined by New Yorkers and slip off the national stage.

Oh really!? She doesn’t want it politicized and wishes it would remain a local issue, but supports using federal involvement to investigate opposition? I guess some people only get first amendment rights according to her wishes.

I wont be able to debate this subject today, because of work; however, if the 1.2 billion Muslims were Radical Islamic Fascists, I think our way of life would be in jeopardy. We took a Hell of a hit from twenty or so.

Radical movements need to stir the embers or they die. The National Socialists without war and death camps would have been a phase of German history. The Islamic Fascists who can stir up hatred on both sides are closer to their goals. That doesn’t mean we are to roll over for these purveyors of hate, but we certainly don’t want to be manipulated dupes.

Minuteman said that the Arab News link was pure Arab BS, that may be, but several hundred million received that message. Our culture is so different from the Islamic Culture that it is hard to understand the nuances of their way of life, but as different as our culture is from theirs, I think they have the same variety within the Muslim Culture itself.

The quiet Muslim raising a family and paying a mortgage doesn’t make the news, it is his whacked out cousin who should have been drowned in a bucket when he was born that makes the news. It is safe to assume that we all have a malcontent relative like the whacked out cousin.

The Progressive Socialists manipulate the ethnic minorities and play them as stooges, they destroy potential and encourage people to waste their lives so that they can maintain a base and we play into it by pointing fingers and causing resentment on both sides and cementing the Progressive Socialist virtual slavery hold on minorities. We should come up with solutions to the problem, the problems have been defined. Until we have problem solvers in Washington instead of self-serving pork consumers, we can expect the corruption. The Muslim situation is similar in that we need solutions and not hysteria: they are here and they are all over the world, they are not going to cower behind rocks and neither should we, yet there are solutions that are not based in hatred and emotion, for that is a fool’s game.

My Greek friends are shocked! Just read in Fox News that the Port Authority in New York will not allow the St Nicholas Orthodox Church to be re-build! It was destroyed by Muslim Terrorists on 9/11. This 130 years-old church has been an inspiration to many merchant marines who came to the U.S to build and create a better country, certaintly not to destroy it. What a shame!

*- Obama supports this offensive mosque to be built.
*- we don’t know where the $100 millions of dollars are coming from to build the offensive mosque.
*- 63% of NewYorkers are opposed to the construction of this offensive mosque on GZ
*- the country is boiling about this issue and almost 3/4 of the nation is against it.
*- Pelosi wants the 3/4 of normal Americans to be investigated by the gov. as to why we oppose the construction of this offensive mosque.
*- St Nicholas Orthodox Church will not be re-build.

The commies are out of control!

>>“I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up?”>>

Funded??? opposition to the mosque is being FUNDED??? HEY!!! I oppose the mosque and I haven’t gotten my funding!!!!

Who’s supposed to send it to me??? Whose door should I be banging on????

>>Still, Pelosi said she’d like to see the issue determined by New Yorkers and slip off the national stage.>>

Yeah…I’ll bet.

@googoo

Even some leading Muslims contradict your claims.

A House of Worship or a Symbol of Destruction?

…..I cannot imagine that Muslims want a mosque on this particular site, because it will be turned into an arena for promoters of hatred, and a symbol of those who committed the crime. At the same time, there are no practicing Muslims in the district who need a place of worship, because it is indeed a commercial district…..

M. Zuhdi Jasser on the Mosque & Religious Freedom

…..‘Park 51′, ‘The Cordoba House’ or whatever they are calling it today should not be built, not because it is not their right to do it – but because it is not right to do it.” Mr. President, your involvement in this issue is divisive not uniting. Your follow-up stating that ‘you will not speak to the wisdom of the construction of that mosque and center’ indicates a passive-aggressive meddling on your part that only marginalizes those Muslim and non-Muslim voices against it while pretending to understand both sides of the debate……..

I have included the links to the articles so you can peruse their entire comments on the issue.

@URI:

My Greek friends are shocked! Just read in Fox News that the Port Authority in New York will not allow the St Nicholas Orthodox Church to be re-build!

Well URI, the St Nicholas Church issue runs quite a bit deeper than the Port Authority just disallowing it. Also, comparing St Nicholas with the mosque issue is not apples to apples.

Mata laid it out thoroughly here:

But the two sides never came to final terms. After months of negotiations, the Port Authority, which is overseeing reconstruction at ground zero, ended its talks with the church on Monday, saying that the church had sought increasingly costly concessions.

Complaints, of course, abound on both sides.

…. snip….

“We made an extraordinarily generous offer to resolve this issue and spent eight months trying to finalize that offer, and the church wanted even more on top of that,” said Stephen Sigmund, a spokesman for the Port Authority. “They have now given us no choice but to move on to ensure the site is not delayed. The church continues to have the right to rebuild at their original site, and we will pay fair market value for the underground space beneath that building.”

Last July, the Port Authority and the Greek Orthodox Church announced a tentative plan to rebuild the church just east of its original site, at Liberty and Greenwich Streets. The authority agreed to provide the church with land for a 24,000-square-foot house of worship, far larger than the original, and $20 million. Since the church would be built in a park over the bomb-screening center, the authority also agreed to pay up to $40 million for a blast-proof platform and foundation.

In recent negotiations, the authority cut the size of the church slightly and told church officials that its dome could not rise higher than the trade center memorial. The church, in turn, wanted the right to review plans for both the garage with the bomb-screening center and the park, something the authority was unwilling to provide. More important, authority officials said, the church wanted the $20 million up front, rather than in stages. Officials said they feared that the church, which has raised about $2 million for its new building, would come back to the authority for more.

C’mon Aye, we both know that this church is a symbol of Christianity and these Commie-Muslim bastards are fighting a war against them. There is no Freedom of Religion to built this church and that is why for so long it has been on hold. We need to see who is in charged of the Port Authority and what kind of contributions thay are getting from the Middle East. As they usually say “follow the money”.

@URI:

I understand how things look URI but, as the linked article states, there is more to the St. Nicholas issue than what appears on the surface.

I’m not taking a side against the church at all. Just simply saying that the reconstruction of the church is not an apples to apples comparison with the mosque.

#12:

Still. Pelosi said she’d like to see the issue determined by New Yorkers and slip off the national stage.

The problem is that the terrorists weren’t just attacking New York. To them, the Twin Towers symbolized America’s financial center. An attack on them was an attack on America. Most Americans saw it this way, too. That’s why it continues to be a national issue, not a local one. If Pelosi had an ounce of patriotism left in that bag of bones of hers, she’d understand. Unfortunately, it seems to have been replaced long ago by botox/embalming fluids.

@Toothfairy

I agree with you. That highlighted excerpt was from the reporting site and I just included it to point out her contradictory rhetoric. She truly is dumber than a bag of hammers.

I still think the opposition to the mosque is based on emotionalism and irrationality, and also in some cases bigotry.

How else to explain opposition to synagogues and mosques elsewhere too.

I think we must consider Islam an evangelizing religion. A stated goal is to take over the world (in extremely coarse terms) to make it all islam, inshallah.

Last time they got as far as Cordoba apparently. And India – now look way down in Indonesia – whassup widdat? Using armies. We fought back with armies. But now they fight with immigrants, refugees and fertility rates. We have no weapon against such a conquest.

please excuse the improper term

not evangelizing

but proselytizing

my mistake

Skookum said, “The Muslim situation is similar in that we need solutions and not hysteria: they are here and they are all over the world, they are not going to cower behind rocks and neither should we, yet there are solutions that are not based in hatred and emotion, for that is a fool’s game.”

Solution…and what would that be? They already are given freedoms in the United States that Christians are not even afforded. The media always comes to their defense no matter what it might be. You know the Muslims who live in the United States have to abide by our laws they do not practice their faith like those do in the ME. The population here is miniscule in comparison to Muslims around the world. What makes you think they all love us and want to be our friend? When everything went down on 9-11 millions around the world clapped and cheered in celebration because we were getting what we deserved. They were honoring Allah. I mean what is moderate anyway? Were the millions who celebrated moderate?

Hysteria will happen when another 9-11 happens and we wake up and look around us and those who we thought were moderate were not at all. Islams goal is worldwide domination for Allah.
The proposed Mosque will be a shrine, and a slap in the face for every person who lost a loved one that day.

They say you should keep your friends close, your enemies closer. The enemy might be closer than you think and we had better keep our eyes open. I am not saying that most the Muslims in the United States are evil. I am saying however our country might be filled with people who are pretending to be friends that are not. This issue has divided the country. That is what enemies like to do. No nation can stand divided.

No good can come from this Mosque.

The fact that we have Muslims in prayer a few feet from the site of the wreck at the Pentagon might answer all your questions. The fact that they are inside the Pentagon might answer many questions. How many of us, with so many varied military experiences, have walked down those halls?http://cnsnews.com/news/article/71322

Should we purge our military of Muslims and cripple a good part of ability to communicate and conduct covert operations?

We could lessen the threat within the military and at what cost?

Should we question the patriotism of these Muslim patriots because of bigoted feelings here at FA?

I think Imam R is a nut case, does that mean that all Muslims are nut cases?

During WW2 we considered all Japanese as enemies of the state and confiscated all their belongings and put the Japanese into concentration camps, well almost all, we allowed their sons to be the most decorated unit in the history of the United States, besides being awarded something like 3.5 Purple Hearts per man. While their parents and younger siblings lived behind barbed wire enclosures and lost everything they couldn’t carry in a suitcase. I am sure there was a turncoat, but we were lucky we didn’t lose the whole demographic after our treatment of the Japanese Americans.

Once those decorated heroes came home, the government let their parents out of prison and they started over with nothing. Where would your patriotic feelings be if this had happened to your family?

Racism and bigotry is a horrible component of the human psyche, being of mixed blood from several directions, I have observed these quaint traditions from multiple tangents: it is an ugly part of our nature and it lurks just beneath the surface.

I find it absurd to hate Blacks because some Blacks, like our own President, attend a racist Black Liberation Church that stands for the destruction of the United States and the confiscation of White wealth to be distributed to Blacks because of past misdeeds. Is their attitude similar to ours during WW2 toward the Japanese.

I stated earlier, if Imam Rauf is sincere in wanting to build a better understanding with Muslims in America, he would build a University with scholarships for the children of victims of 9/11 and of First Responders. This type of project would endear him and the Muslim community to the American people. His single minded actions in continuing his project despite the overwhelming public outcry is not improving relations, but serving to be divisive and create ill-will towards American Muslims.

Of course our buffoon of a President has to get down and crawl through the manure by lecturing the American people on religious tolerance using his arrogant and condescending attitude with nothing to gain except for creating goodwill in the Muslim world; of course, this latest grandstanding has probably insured Republican control of the House and Senate after the November election.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/71322

I am not saying it is wrong to voice opposition and express feelings concerning the inappropriateness of the location of the mosque, but to use bigotry as a justification is wrong and un-American.

@Bill Johnson:

But now they fight with immigrants, refugees and fertility rates.

Here’s an interesting piece Mata found, by Max Boot:

while there are currently 18 million Muslims in Western Europe, or 4.5% of the population, and there will be increases in the future, “it’s hard to imagine that Europe will even reach the 10 percent mark (except in some countries or cities).” Why not? Because “fertility rates among Muslims are sharply declining as children of immigrants gradually conform to prevailing social and economic norms. Nor is immigration still a major source of newly minted European Muslims. Only about 500,000 people a year come legally to Europe from Muslim-majority countries, with an even smaller number coming illegally — meaning that the annual influx is a fraction of a percent of the European population.”

~~~
continental societies have more resiliency than it may appear on the surface to Americans who caricature Europeans as effete surrender monkeys. While most European nations are not willing to engage in vigorous military action overseas (France and Britain are partial exceptions) they have shown far more ruthlessness in policing their own borders. France, in particular, as this AEI study notes, has been extremely aggressive in going after Islamist terror cells, giving their law enforcement and judicial authorities more power than in the U.S. Islamist excesses such as the killing of Theo van Gogh or the attempted murder of the Muhammad cartoonist are triggering a backlash. Europe, I predict, will not be subsumed into the umma as so many alarmists claim, based on worst-case projections.
