Enforcement leads to violence:

Dem border lawmakers: Violent incidents will come with enforcement

Several Democratic lawmakers representing districts along the U.S.-Mexico border say that more violent episodes, such as the recent killing of a Mexican teenager by a U.S. Border Patrol officer, can be expected as the region’s law enforcement is heightened.

The killing of the teenager in the Mexico border city of Ciudad Juarez last week comes on the heels of an incident on May 31 at a San Diego border crossing in which a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer shocked a Mexican man to death.

So the United States can expect more violence if it enforces the security of its borders, say Democrats.

The two deaths are being investigated by the FBI and have caused an uproar of outrage from the Mexican government, which says that the U.S. officials used levels of force that exceeded what the situation warranted.

Hmm.

The 15 year old who was killed was well known to authorities:

The 15-year-old Mexican boy who was shot dead by a Border Patrol agent as U.S. authorities came under attack along the border Tuesday was known to authorities as a juvenile smuggler, sources close to the investigation told Fox News.

Using kids to smuggle people across the border is apparently nothing new:

(CNN) — The 15-year-old Mexican youth who was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent had a history of involvement with human smuggling and was on a list of repeat juvenile offenders, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Mark Qualia told CNN Thursday.

The victim, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Guereca, had been apprehended by U.S. officials on more than one occassion but was never criminally charged, Qualia said.

The use of juveniles to smuggle people across the border is a common tactic for smugglers, he said.

By all accounts, rocks were being thrown at the Border Patrol officer. The officer did demand that the rock throwing stop to no avail. Only then did the agent shoot.

A Mexican official claimed the shooting took place on the Mexican side of the border.

Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for the Chihuahua state Attorney General’s office, said a spent .40-caliber shell casing was found near the body — raising the question of whether the fatal shot was fired inside Mexico, although he did not explicitly make that allegation. That would violate the rules for Border Patrol agents, who are supposed to stay on the U.S. side of the border.

But the video clearly shows the US agent on the US side of the border when the shooting occurred.

CNN also reported that the bullet casing might have been planted:

A U.S. official, meanwhile, said video shows the Border Patrol agent did not enter Mexico.

The official, who agreed to discuss the matter only if not quoted by name, said the video also shows what seem to be four Mexican law enforcement officers driving to the edge of the dry but muddy bed of the Rio Grande, walking across to the U.S. side, picking up an undetermined object and returning to Mexico near the area where the boy’s body was. Like their U.S. counterparts, Mexican law officers are not authorized to cross the border without permission.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon promised to protect the rights of those breaking the law:

Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Tuesday that his government “will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants.”

It was claimed that the teenager was “playing” when he was shot:

The boy’s sister, Rosario, told Associated Press Television News that her brother was playing with several friends and did not plan to cross the border.

Playing.

With rocks.

Throwing those rocks at the US Border Patrol.

In the dry bed of the Rio Grande in no-man’s land.

Where all kids normally “play.”

Several of the teenager’s relatives showed up for a memorial:

About 30 relatives and friends gathered late Tuesday to mourn Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka, whose shooting Monday evening came along the border with Texas.

30 relatives and friends should have been enough people to keep the 15 year old from “playing” with rocks at the Rio Grande border.

Once again, Democrats take a problem created by someone else and make it our problem. They want to forget about securing the borders because those who are invading illegally might get angry with us and take to violence. Being that stupid cannot be a easy thing.

But where does the real fault with all this violence lie? You guessed it:

On Tuesday, the governor of Chihuahua condemned the killing and said the death was due to “xenophobic and racist conduct derived from the approval of the anti-immigrant law S.B. 1070 in Arizona.”

The governor of Chihuahua said nothing of the origin of the assaults on US Border agents:

…there were 799 assaults on border agents from October 1, 2009, through May 31– up from 745 assaults for the same time period in 2007-08 and 658 for the same span in 2008-09.

It is tricky. Militarized or quasi-militarized borders do raise the risk of violence since obviously at least one side is going to be heavily armed. What we’ve been doing at the US-Mexican border is so half-assed. Our politicians, as always trying to please competing interest groups, always fashion as incoherent a plan as possible.

It’s time for us to make up our minds about the Mexican border. Should we install the US military at the Mexican border and use the border patrol and ICE agents at the Canadian border and all other ports of entry?

Do we make that military more than a sporadic symbolic presence and assign a signiciant number of troops at the Mexican border? How many troops would be needed to safeguard the Mexican border 24/7, 365 days of the year? What would it take? — 75,000 troops? More? Less?

What kind of garrisons, barracks, operating bases, landing stips, etc would be needed for such a permanent operation?

Does anyone know of good sources on logistics, rules of engagement, and anticipated troop strength required for closing down the Mexican border? Thanks.

I wish we had someone in charge who would not only shove this incident up Calderon’s behind, but put soldiers on the border and tell him if anymore armed Mexican LEOs crossed over they would be shot.

Here we have an incident where an agent returned the use of deadly force, there is video of this and the Mexican LEOs tresspassing then planting evidence, and Calderon has the nerve to say he’ll protect illegal immigrants anyway.

I’m beginning to think some of thes Democrats are psychotic with all the b*llsh*t propaganda they keep vomiting. Some of it makes no logical sense whatsoever, yet they blame Republicans for scare tactics.

Democrats cannot speak without lying. Look at all the lies about Obamacare. Look at the lies about all the oil in shallow waters or on dry land is ‘all gone’. Democrats lie. And their constituents are too stupid to see through it. Democrat constituents are the gullible people buying into the fantasy that democrats invent.

Folks, the Pinal County sheriff needs help. He has a federal wildlife refuge in his county of which he has no control. That refuge is one of the main illegal drug corridors into this country. The feds in their infanite wisdom have closed this refuge to all US citizens all the while doing nothing to control the flow of illegal drugs. This gives the Mexican drug smugglers free passage all the way to I80. Its like Obama ceded that portion of the nation to Mexico. The sheriff is asking for 3000 armed troops to shut down this trafficing. Massive political pressure is needed to get the southern border problem resolved and Arizona the help it needs. A few hundred dead Mexicans would get Calderon’s attention and entice him to stop the crossings. If any of you have some spare time and can shoot, you might want to offer your services to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Dept. He might say no, but at least he would know he has some popular support. Just sayin.

Just out of curiosity, how many rock-throwing incidents have there been in that sector *since* the shooting of the “poor innocent child who was just playing”? ❓ 😈
