“Psychologically, this attack is like 9/11 for Turkey,”
-Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu

Really?!

Seriously?!!

In wake of the (anti-Israel) UN resolution passed less than a week ago, what the frak is it with the disproportionate response on the part of world media and world opinion in how they choose to characterize and see things? It would be like me writing, “Israeli paint ballers defend themselves from vicious mob of violent Islamist peace activists armed with steal pipes and knives”. The reality would be no less skewered and distorted.

This is definitely a predictable PR disaster for Israel.

Steve Schippert points out a nice article by Caroline Glick. Worth a read.

Actually, it’s more like the Holocaust. 🙄

What utter tripe. The blockade isn’t new. 5 of the ships obeyed as directed. One did not.

I heard that they had all those knives and clubs and weapons for peaceful purposes.

Getting big message that says Database Error?

It’s a disaster for Israel on the battlefield of world opinion, and bad news for the United States because it’s one more high-profile event that will be used to great effect as a recruiting tool by Islamic extremism.

Having armed soldiers board the ships in force was a serious miscalculation. The likelihood of a setup intended to create exactly this sort of outcome should have been obvious. Pointing out that that’s what it was after the fact isn’t going to undo the damage.

The Israel should organize a humanitarian fleet to aid the Kurds in eastern Turkey. I’m sure the Turks would be paragons of virtue, and let them through without inspecting the cargo.

They should have just Sunk the ships, greg.

Now. Where is ‘lil Liar johnny ryan and his ‘the JOOOOOOZ! are making things more dangerous for our soldiers’ meme?

Am with you Otter. Any ship that doesn’t comply with the blockade should go to the bottom of the Med.

Its like 9-11, times 100… yes 91,100…

Uh, yeah. Anybody remember what happened to the USS Liberty?

I’ve always had strong sympathies for Israel. That won’t change. It doesn’t keep me from criticizing a boneheaded play when I see one.

Wow from the country that still refuses to admit it perpetrated the Armenian genocide, that takes some brass ones

ISRAEL IS OUR BEST ALLYED, and taking the side on their opponants is dangerous for AMERICA: LET”S not forget ,there is a war going on and nobody should try to get ISRAEL to newtralize their weapons, THIS is not a world GOVERNMENT, this is the AMERICA,who has always been supportive of ISRAEL. would you like to see thoses HAMAS supporters in the USA instead.

I respect Israel and it’s leadership for showing the courage to protect it’s borders. Too bad America has ZERO leadership in this regard. Israel had every right to do exactly what it did. Do you really believe the folks on this boat where just protestors and meant no harm?? If you do your as brainwashed as the rest of the 0-bama followers. I’m certain that within 7 days some idiot will blame Bush for the incident.

greg~ if you are one to criticize bonehead plays when you see them, you ought to be commenting on pretty much everything obama, holder, neopolitan et al are doing these days…..

Greg, you are the boneheaded one. You never fail to take the wrong side and blame the victim every chance you get.

Have you read nothing about how the Israelis were “armed”? How about what happened the moment the first Israeli landed on the ship? With so-called-friends like you, Israel doesn’t need enemies.

Just for you and folks like you, Greg.

Confession: Gaza flotilla participants PLANNED to attack Israel; wanted to martyr themselves for jihad

Yes, by all means they should have been allowed to run the blockade. Yes the Israelis shouldn’t have been armed like Greg whined about. Then we’d have dead Israelis instead of dead terrorist wannabes.
🙄

It was an obvious set up, designed to create an ugly incident that could be used to strengthen anti-Israeli sentiment. The result is damaging to Israel and will likely complicate the matter of gaining international support for stronger sanctions against Iran.

There’s a difference between placing blame and recognizing a serious miscalculation.

ISRAEL had some soldiers that where wounded pretty bad, that’s when they decide to defend themself;you know GREG, it’s like the “ROE”, they don’t want to kill them, just defend thoses wounded brothers, the others had weapon and where on the offensive, so they got casultys but that is minor to what they could have had if the soldiers would have attack: THE damage for ISRAEL is their wounded braves, not to the free world who know better, where the ennemies roams, don’t forget, the free world are at war with the same ennemies. 🙄

I just hope Jewish people in America will stop being Marxists and instead be more Israelis. The enemy within…that is how the Byzantine Empire felt to the Ottoman Empire. The Turks are now wanting to get some control in the area, specially when the President of the United States goes to tell them that America is no longer a Christian country!

Having armed soldiers board the ships in force was a serious miscalculation.

Ummmm, no Greg it wasn’t. Did you really think they were going to turn around out of the goodness of their hearts? Short or ramming/slash sinking the ship, it wasn’t going to be stopped.

The Israelis boarded the ship with less than lethal weapons. The jihadis were using lethal force. If not for the firearms the Israelis carried, we would be talking about dead Israelis. But that would be fine with you Greg, wouldn’t it? That way you could say they were victims but still morally superior. Because they chose to defend their lives they are boneheaded in your eyes.

Greg seems to think that the Israels should be disarmed just as Obama has done with the troops he is sending to protect the border from armed Mexican drug cartels and gun runners. Greg probably also supports gun control. He would likely also disarm our police departments before sending them into gang hot-spots. Greg and Obama clearly don’t understand the wisdom of taking precautions and the importance of weaponry in self-defense against armed hostile forces. It is people who think like this who disarm peacful citizens and create ‘no gun zones’ making them easy prey of the criminal element of the cities, and who enable dictators to take power and subjugate their people and kill millions. Such individuals are either history-blind idealistic fools (aka “useful idiots”) or they are allied with the would be oppressors. Or perhaps they are both. Which are you Greg?

Liberals like Greg think they are being oh so fair and even handed by blaming both parties. As I have pointed out many times before, it’s all so they can feel good about themselves. That is why he has deliberately ignored facts that fly in the face of his claims.

If you know how many scrapyard-worthy minibusses crash in Turkey each and every year, taking hundreds of (usually non-Gaza activist) people into their early grave, and even prompting Turkey to take up German-style TÜV car inspections in order to lower the incidence of such things happening, this guy is probably not setting his priorities right.

The guy’s a twit, and probably also a quite radical islamist.

But that was to be expected as the Turkish PM now has a new name in Germany – “Erdowahn”, which kinda means something like “Erdo” and ‘craze’.

I have been reading a great deal of blogs about these kind of events – and in particular just about this unlucky event- and this forces me to end up with the conclusion that (though I dont want to let myself perceive it that way) you guys are suffering from “chronic concious disorder”

yea guys .. thats really fun(?) reading your comments and acquiring a new way of looking to sad incidinces..

brave Israeli soldiers whose hearts are full of manhood(!) kill nine Turkish citizens whose so-effective arms are knives, axes and similar apparatus.. one can always speculate about the lethality of these armaments(?)..of course a knife can be lethal for a crazy hog trying to attack you in the middle of the forest that you obviously would suck it to somewhere on its body. However, it would be the “crazy hog” to be charged of the guilt in such a case I think..

but if happens to be the man who perishes at the end due to the sharp teeth of the hog; the hog cabinet gathers up and proclaims the following speech:

“We, the representatives of the wild boar community who are living peacefully in this jungle-and of course wrestling on our own…. from time to time- are living in accordance with the jungle laws. Therefore any being other than our own kind constitutes a threat for our solidarity, to our dignity.
A man who is of homo sapiens kind ,tried to trespass our border the previous day. He did not care for our growlings either..One member of the “border guard hog regiment” was obliged to use its teeth just for self defense..so the unquestionably ill-intentioned man was found dead at the end of the case. Moreover our “hog intelligence” reported that the man had some lethal armaments found on its corpse. There is no doubt that this man was determinant to harm our so-dear hog community who are living at utmost peace and harmony in the jungle”

how fair and just those hogs seem to you; so you are right at that justice level..no less no more

Kursad: good story indeed, like my friend GEORGE would say, but no substance to an intent
of a movement toward the human race killing boars,
nobody suffer from your kind of delusion, get of that stuff your sneezing, it will finish the destruction of your mind

oh thank you doc.
