Obama skips Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington [Reader Post]

Loading

It has been a long standing tradition for the President of the United States to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day. Not for Barack Obama.

He is skipping the ceremony for something truly important for this country- another vacation.

President Obama is finally addressing one of the great broken promises of his administration: his early pledge to return home to Chicago every six weeks or so.

That certainly sounds like one of those “great broken promises.” If this doesn’t tell you what Obama really thinks of vets, nothing does. Each of us has his own priorities, and Obama has his.

Then again, breaking this tradition might have to do with a deep seated psychological problem of Obama’s- he sees dead people.

On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.

Maybe he’s still haunted by the ghosts he saw in 2008. Or maybe he couldn’t care less about the traditions of the United States. I never liked Barack Obama but this is shameful.

@Real American Patriot, if you are Physically and Mentally fit, not a drunk or a doper, have no convictions in your Criminal Record background, can pass Lautenberg Amendment (Domestic Abuse) scrutiny, and are a Real American Patriot, the US Military is hiring. 😉

Free Medical Care, Adventure, Travel, Tax Free Money and Combat Pay. Camaraderie, Excellent Cuisine, Sexy Clothes that will make You look Cool back on the block, Free Room and Board. Free Fireworks displays daily and nightly…

Take a walk in My World Dude or keep your opinions to your self and STFU!

Doing More With Less Here.

Old Trooper:” Free Medical Care, Adventure, Travel, Tax Free Money and Combat Pay. Camaraderie, Excellent Cuisine, Sexy Clothes that will make You look Cool back on the block….

…. well, OT… I’ll make a wager that Missy and I are waiting for those cheesecake military photos of you that “will make you look cool back on the block”… LOL

Don’t hold your breath for CRAP. If he would rather let the taxpayer handle his bills instead of taking a job, it’s unlikely he’s got what it takes to be under your command.

BTW, Crap… judging by your self-admitted career choices, you ain’t likely to be in that top 1% that pays the bulk of the taxes. So assuming you pay a pittances of taxes annually, and considering the even more pittance % of your personal taxes that may be applied against the taxpayers debt PLUS interest on paying you a welfare check monthly, how many centuries do you think it will take for you to pay back what you absconded at our expense for over a year?

Or are you like Obama, and have no math abilities?

“President Obama has targeted the Department of Defense to absorb more than 80 percent of the cuts he has proposed in next year’s budget for discretionary programs.”

That’s odd. According to this article, he’s proposed the largest defense budget since WW2:

@anticsrocks: Every time Obama has a meeting with military personnel it is by “invitation only,” and it is usually the officers and not the grunts. In one picture of such a meeting one blogger noticed that all of the cameras the soldiers had looked the same. How could that have happened?

While Obama did his “…months of reviewing…” he obviously didn’t keep in contact with his Joint Chiefs Of Staff because when he did decide to send the troops he ASSUMED they could be send right out. He found out it would take several more months for the logistics of KEEPING them there.

@MataHarley: You reminded me of a conversation I had with a man at my last protest in Washington DC. I was walking from one that had ended and was walking to another one when a man saw my overhead 30″ X 38″ sign and started talking to me. Each time I said something he would say, “There’e enough money for everybody.” Each time I said something he would say the same exact words, and that’s all he would say.

I finally figured out what he meant and told him something like, “But, I want people to work for it,” turned away, and left.

,it is no longer M Day here but I can offer you some clarification.

M-Day is when You honor the Dead that defended folks like You.
V-Day is when some folks honor the Living that defended folks lije You.

Every other day, Soldiers have duty in dirty and dangerous locales and Obama shoots hoops or plays golf and could care less.

Got it?

@Greg, and for the Common Defense of what? His Agenda that is crap and I NEED about another 8 brigade Combat Teams to Win Obama’s War here.

I don’t know what You are shopping for here but Obama short changed My Army and I am tasked with winning his War. He owns it now. He deployed some Soldiers. He bought it, He owns it.

@Mata and Missy, I am lounging around at MEDACT, my 4th Purple Heart because I caught one in the calf of my left leg last night. A simple deal that will not cost the taxpayers much. Ruined a pair of pants but I ruined someones day and have time to be mean and post here.

I want a beefsteak, a cigar and a few more Troopers here. Obama’s used golf balls did not “Plug that Hole Daddy” … Community Organizers vs Engineers?

I am going to change my trousers and get back to Obama’s War. He does not have a clue but I have responsibilities…

My Daughter Jana sent me a text message that I will not quote here but “What were you thinking Dad?” She is a USAFA Cadet and not a grunt but still not too big be too big for her britches.

Greg, get you head out of Obama’s backside.

OLD TROOPER: hi, what where you thinking? take care during the full moon specialy, bye 🙄 😯 😉

@OLD Trooper: I have been HIRED.. that’s the point here…I did my time in the military and at my age they are not taking me back. I’ve been under command!

Mata: Nice EDIT that allowed you to get away with saying you don’t name call…
and then you call me a loser?? Would you like to really exchange name calling here?? I won’t stoop to your LOW LEVEL. Oh and I’ve been under Command.. so like i said earlier “give it a rest”

@OLD TROOPER: I have walked in your world!! I have served.. so STFU!!!

@ Mata….

well, OT… I’ll make a wager that Missy and I are waiting for those cheesecake military photos of you that “will make you look cool back on the block”… LOL

Dreams are not made of that…LOL… maybe some indigestion, but not pretty in any respect.

@Ms Bees, just doing my part Mademoiselle, My Daughter wants to fly F=22 or F-35 Fighters and knows what I do in the Army. I’d rather be back in Montana pushing cattle to fresh grass, good water, not here in the rocks and sand bunghole of all creation and vacationing at Jasper or Banff
or fishing in the Michigan UP.

I am a Soldier of the USA and I do my job. My Daughter is just intelligent and worried at times.

Not to worry.

@Real American Patriot, in your imagination…

OLD TROOPER: midnight minus 5 minutes; you must have shown your legs to the wrong people, and they got jealus, specialy if you turn your back on them. bye 🙄 😉

@RAP…When and where did you serve? We all would like to know so that we can thank you for your service.

@Greg…If you have a problem reading dates, don’t be embarrassed about it, just ask for help. Here, I will help you with this one.

The story I cited was from May 8, 2009, whereas the story you cited was from Feb. 1, 2010.

See that? Just a bit of reading and there you have it. Two different stories about two different budgets. The story you cite even explains the increase in the military spending, i.e. the 30,000 additional troops Obama sent into Afghanistan.

But prey tell how does your point you make about increased spending show that Obama appreciates the military?

: I served in the early 70’s. It was all state side duty. Most of my time was served in California. That much information should give those with a military background a pretty good guess at what branch.

Vietnam was happening at that time, I am glad I did not have to serve there. I lost many friends and relatives over there.

Damn it OT, be careful.

Working in Northern CO, went to one of the prettiest ranches I have ever seen today. Thought of you while looking at several hundred cattle, we were driving and the women wanted me to work on more and more horses, so there was no time for pics; but I will go back and get a few pics with my phone for you and your crew. Hopefully, the field grade officers here at FA will help me post them in the open thread when I get home.

Tomorrow, I go to the ranch of a famous lingerie retailer; my woman guide asked if I planned to wear a thong, I nearly cracked up. Nice to look at on women, but for my personal use, I prefer boxers. (denique non omnes eadem mirantur amantque) (All men do not admire and love the same things) (Horace) It’s a personal choice and I try not to influence others in regards to fashion; a guy who buys the bulk of his clothing at a feed store is not likely to be qualified as a fashion critic.

Take care. Skook

@CRAP, I never said I don’t name call. Whenever you slither into the cyber room, I’m always happy to pull out the affectionate handles for you. Bottom feeders all get the same type of treatment from me.

SKOOKUM: hi, a “THONG”,[ AYE CHIUAHUA would get it out]; is it thoses leather culotes you wear over your jeans? ; I have seen that in cow boy movie, and it would look great on you. bye 🙄

SKOOKUM: i am glad there is the proof, that CAPITALIST work the best for AMERICA,and still going strong, say hi for me too. bye 🙄

Looks like the heroes in Fiddler’s Green didn’t want to hear anything the bloviator-in-chief had to say today, so the Good Lord shut him up.

Thanks Mata!

@Cary: Don’t take this the wrong way, but I already see and hear Obama more than I want to. Have you all noticed that his tone never changes? I noticed this all through his campaigning It is like the computer voice that reads text. There is no emotion there at all.

@Old Trooper:

I am lounging around at MEDACT, my 4th Purple Heart because I caught one in the calf of my left leg last night. A simple deal that will not cost the taxpayers much. Ruined a pair of pants but I ruined someones day and have time to be mean and post here.

Let’s not worry about ruining the pants or costing the taxpayers and for being mean, after taking a bullet for us taxpayers, I think you can be as mean as you want, anytime. Not like you are sucking up unemployment, just saying.

I’m thinking your left leg is like a couple of scratches I couldn’t sand out of an antique table while refinishing it, hubby said not to worry they add character. Mata and I definately would be impressed, appears Beezy will be also! 😉

Salute!

@Skookum:

We were also in Colorado over the weekend, outside of Steamboat Springs, would have loved to have hooked up to meet our legendary Skookum! You didn’t have any dealings with buffalo, hmmm?

Our granddaughter graduated from high school, enjoyed every minute of her big day, she wrote and gave the Baccalaureate speech, it was wonderful!

We stopped at our farm in Missouri for a couple of days, left last nite at 7pm and got home this morning at 5 am. It was raining so hard we had to keep stopping and a tornado touched down near our farm shortly after we left. Rough ending to a beautiful trip, very happy to be home.

MISSY: hi, you are loungig while your farm is left to itself; you know, you will get the flying coyotees and the skunks, and you wont be happy when you go back. 7 pm,to 5 am, that’s a good drive, seems you knew when to escape the hurricane; congratulation to your granddaughter, she’s probably take it from you, good seeds produces the best flowers. YES, i would be impress to see thoses scars, for sure. bye 🙄

Hi Bees! We also left a friend down there and we haven’t heard from him yet. We know the electricity went out, they probably have it back on by now.

Our farm is 6 & 1/2 hours away from our home in Illinois and my husband usually drives through anything, rain, ice, snow, etc., this time the rain was so heavy we couldn’t see. We stopped at rest areas across Iowa and waited for the rain to lighten up, went back on the road and it would start up again. We were listening to flash flood warnings on WHO/1040, the radio station out of Des Moines, they were reporting some counties in Iowa were getting 2 inches of rain per hour.

Been trying to read all the posts and responses, the lack of sleep is starting to hit me, going to take a nap and come back later. Bye!

MISSY: thank’s, that full moon left a lot of trouble behind her, hope the person is okay at the farm; here we’r having rain every day,and cold too, the humminbirds are back now, they always fly in the window when arrive and leave too, same pattern since about 6 years, and small song birds colorfull, i give them some seeds in my kennel, i finish my one year project, t’was very difficult but i made it, i bought my wood and piano inges and 4 wheels and i will frame it, it’s 2 peace 2feet by 4feet each, very unique.divider that will fit anywhere. with so much rain, the grass has overpower my kennel, i am always facinated to see such multiple varietys growing wild, that will be my next job to cut it as soon as a dry day come, bye take a good rest. 🙄

OLD TROOPER: hi, TODAY is the 30th of june; we just beginning to see the sunshines days,
here to say hi, and have a good day, and to all the other braves, we always keep you in our hearths and minds here, bye and check in. 🙄
