7 Dead, more than 20 wounded. 3 shooters?
At least seven people have been killed and at least 12 wounded in a mass shooting at a Texas military base by what officials believe was carried out by two gunmen.

Seven soldiers are reported to be dead and at least 12 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.One gunman is reported to be in custody and a search is on for a second shooter, officials said.
The shooting took place at Fort Hood in Texas, the largest U.S. military installation in the world.
The massacre is said to have taken place at a soldier readiness processiong center where young recruits would be taken to be inducted into the military.
Latest report I’m hearing is on a 3rd shooter.

Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.
The suspected gunman was identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan. He was killed and two other suspects have been apprehended, Lt. Robert W. Cone said.
The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn’t sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

The suspected gunman in the Fort Hood shooting has been identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan. He was killed and two other suspects have been apprehended, according to Army Spokesman Lt. Robert W. Cone.
There are unconfirmed reports that Major Hasan was a convert to Islam and originally from Virginia. He was reportedly scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan and was unhappy about it.
Then what about the other two suspects? One individual going nuts this does not sound like.

A defense official speaking on condition of anonymity to the AP says Hasan was a mental health professional — an Army psychologist or psychiatrist.

Metroplex Adventist Hospital received seven of the victims. One was under distress in route to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. Two are currently in surgery, one of which is an EMS paramedic. Four have been stabilized. Two were transferred to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple and two have been transferred to Seton in Round Rock.

Source tells Air Force Times that Hasan was a psychiatrist recently reassigned from Walter Reed to Darnall Army Medical Center @Fort Hood.
News Channel 25’s Natasha Chen has learned the suspected shooter Maj. Malik Hasan had “Allah” keyed into his car last week. He reported it as a hate crime.

The shooting started at about 1:30 p.m., according to a military statement, reportedly in the Sports Dome, which now serves as a center for soldiers and families preparing for deployment.
The Associated Press reports that seven are dead and 15 more are injured, but other reports place the number of injured as low as 12 and as high as 20.

The FBI said they don’t believe it is terrorism related, but TWO or THREE shooters?

According to officials, a soldier carrying two handguns opened fire at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Soldier Readiness Center at the post in Killeen, Texas.
“It would be an environment that would be very susceptible to casualties or injuries,” Killeen City Manager Connie Green said.
Officials said the gunman was shot and killed after quick response from security officers.
At least two other soldiers were taken into custody.
Army personnel said a civilian police officer was among the deceased. At least six of the wounded were military.
“We’re praying that those who are injured … are not seriously injured,” Green said.
The Fort Hood public affairs spokesman said the Army has set up a special operations center to handle the response.
The official base Web site posted a message that it is on lock down and in an emergency situation. It also urged people to stay indoors.
Nine schools on the base — seven elementary and two middle — are included in the lock down.

ABC is reporting that he’s a Muslim convert who had some business or connection to the base hospital.
My prayers are with all our brave service personnel and their families. What a tragic turn of events. This should bolster Janet Napolitono in her quest to defame our servicemen and women and call them terrorists. What a damn shame!

The first reports are quite often not accurate. If this happened on post at Ft. Hood the Newsies will not get a full accounting quickly. It could be possibly terrorist or Islamic Fundie related. The Army CID, FBI and Military Police will be doing the investigation and a full account may be slow in release to the Media. Casualties in large numbers may be sent to Hospitals in Killeen, TX.
Two or Three shooters? Ft. Hood is going to be turned inside out, If Soldiers were shooters the Soldiers Units will be locked down until the full extent of facts are obtained. Lets hold your horses until the Public Information Officer gets the full rundown.
This is tragic and whoever did the shooting will be caught and if Military, will be subject to some very harsh UCMJ action. Ft. Hood is NOT an Open Post. You can’t just drive up to the gate and cruise the Post. It is also a Mobilization Station for those being deployed.
Fox news is reporting that the shooter/s are Muslim and had protested their pending deployment to Afghanistan. If this is true, our military is in trouble.
My uncle fought was an immigrant from Italy and fought for our country in WW2. He fought in Italy. What ever happened to patriotism? God help us, all!
As a former member of the 1st CAV, 15th Med Bn, Vietnam, my heart goes out to the 1st CAV families so afflicted by this tragic event. I know for real the stress of deployment, and certain a massacre of this nature has to be devasting.

I just ETS’ed from Fort Hood in Oct(For some of you that don’t know what ETS is..it means my military army contract ended). If you been on FT Hood for more than a month then you know for a FACT that Ft Hood is pretty open! The security sucks..I got on base with an expired military sticker(on my car) and my Driver’s license LAST WEEK to get my new military ID for enlisting into the Army Reserves…The gate guards suck..they’re just greeters! My Mother in law’s friend lives on base..he’s doesn’t work there(he lives on base with relatives) ..He doesn’t have a military sticker or a Military ID AND he still gets pass the gates everyday he goes out. PLUS there’s days where the base IS FULLY open to the public like LAST 4 of July..and I believe there’s another date coming up.
NOW…I am not giving info..but I am telling facts! But those facst won’t matter when it comes to OPSEC because after today..all security protocols are going to chance PERIOD!
Funny thing was..I was in the Readiness center last week to get my new military ID….luckily I didn’t wait on it.
I have no idea WHY the media said it happened at the Hoztos(however you spell it) theater when it only happened in one specific area.
But I hope no one I know is among the victims…and I wish for the families of the victims to get pass this quickly and give them my blessings!
My husband is there, he is getting ready to deploy as well. How do we find out who is safe? Or when will they let them call their families?!

Well if your hubby got a celly(cell phone) then you might wanna text him OR call him. You can also call his unit to see if he’s accounted for. EVERY SINGLE UNIT on Fort Hood is Required to account for every soldier in this kind of situation. You might also think about calling any friends in his unit.

It’s being reported now that the suspected shooter (who was shot and killed) was indeed a convert to Islam.
I have not found any details regarding the other two shooters.
If I’m not mistaken, in WWII, Japanese-Americans were not deployed to the Pacific, but German-Americans were deployed to Europe. Have there been any previous incidents of terrorism or sabotage by US military with Islamic connections?
…Why is it that many soldiers get killed by other soldiers in Iraq ON PURPOSE never get on the news….But once it happens here…it gets reported all day long?
5 soldiers could get killed in Iraq in a tent by another soldier and it gets only 2 minutes airtime…but why is it NOW that the news pays attention to it? For more viewers?..For more money?
It’s a shame that soldiers overseas in the sandbox(Iraq) get less attention then soldiers at home…..all soldiers are equal….and all news channels treat them as not equal.

Yes a few years ago in Kuwait a U.S. Army soldier who was muslim rolled a grenade into a tent and killed two officers and wounded several others.And as far as soldiers of Japanese decent not being deployed to the Pacific during WWII it was more out of concern about confusion on the battlefield and their own safety than it was about loyalty.

I have been calling him and texting him, and trying to get ahold of anyone I can and no one is answering!
I don’t know the info on what unit he is in, I figured I wouldn’t need it while I am here. I am supposed to be moving there in a couple weeks. We just found out yesterday they are deploying him next month.

It’s tough to sort it all out with something like this.
One of the shooters (Nidal) was shot and killed by a civilian policeman. That policeman was hit in the ensuing shoot out and later died as well.
According to Fox as well as two other sources I have found the other two suspects have NOT been released. They are being held and are undergoing questioning.
The shootings took place in a coordinated fashion through multiple (I’ve read up to six) buildings throughout the base. It would be virtually impossible for a single individual to carry out such a wide ranging attack over such a short period of time.
So anyone else talk to their loved ones there? I have heard of several people talking to people on base but still can’t get ahold of hubby.

I called and spoke with my nephew about 2:15pm today as this was all unfolding. ( He’s at stationed at Fort Hood ) He said they were on lock-down and all ok on another part of the post and they really didn’t know what was going on except the post was on alert and locked down.
I’m glad you were able to check on your husband. Hopefully he’ll call you soon, no? Very tragic.
