Source traced to New York law firm!

Rush Limbaugh is hot on the trail of the smear squad which used phony quotes to poison his bid to buy the St. Louis Rams football team. All done with the help of the mainstream media who couldn’t be bothered to check these incendiary remarks for accuracy before reporting.

It’s the same tactic that has been used against other conservatives over the years. People like Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, Sean Hannity and James Dobson.

Guess what… many of those smears are coming from the same source!

A blogger named Trapdoc sent the following to Mark Steyn:

As I am sure you are aware, the fake Limbaugh quotes have been traced to the Rush Limbaugh Wikiquote page, dating from July of 2005 (see the following link to see when the quotes were added). The Jack Huberman book that most people source for these quotes did not come out until the following year.

The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Rush, James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year.

While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP (see here, for example) that all users from that IP address come from the pbwt.com… domain.)

Given the likelihood that Limbaugh will sue over this, I find it interesting that the source of these bogus quotes is probably a lawyer…

At the American Thinker we learn that Patterson Belknap Webb and Tyler (PBWT) has also recently launched a Sports Group which includes work on behalf of:

Various investor groups as intellectual property counsel in their acquisitions and proposed acquisitions of Major League Baseball, National Hockey League and NASCAR teams.

It’s entirely possible that someone at PBWT was trying to screw the Rams deal for the group Rush was involved with to support the efforts of a client who may have been interested in the team.

But with the links to other smears on Palin, Rove, et. al. I’d say it’s more likely we have another lib libeler and lover of lefty truth (which I define as “any lie that will suck the media in.”)

Hopefully, Rush will pursue legal remedies to track down the individual(s) responsible for these smears and hold them accountable. Otherwise, this kind of thing will keep happening again and again.

Thanks Missy!

At the Corner, Kathryn Lopez describes an email she got from Afghanistan (a troop?) which points out that CNN fact checked the Saturday Night Live sketch critical of Obama but simply repeated the phony quotes against Limbaugh without verifying them.]

It just goes to show that the media will believe anything that fits in with their prejudice against conservatives.

Based on the little digging on the information

The IP comes from the Long Island Area with the area codes 212/347/646/718/917

Which ties in loosely with the law firm – i.e. – its the same area code.

Tel: 212-336-2000

And from the link above “(see here, for example)”, the edits seem to come from a Peter Thomlinson who seems to work for that firm.

While Patterson lawyers have taken on high-profile Guantanamo Bay detainee briefs and death penalty cases outside New York, the firm’s efforts center on helping indigent New Yorkers. Patterson has an ongoing relationship, for instance, with Metropolitan Hospital Center in East Harlem through Volunteers of Legal Service. Partners Peter Tomlinson and Gloria Phares take referrals directly from a nurse practitioner and a social worker who identify patients with legal problems that contribute to their health problems.

Now, there is a date and time in that log. This is important for obvious reasons as a subpoena of the ISP records will show which account had that IP address at that specific time. This will either tie the firm to the IP or not.

It will be interesting. I wonder if the law firm has any computer that tracks WHICH computer generated the traffic. Then maybe you could narrow it down to a person depending on how much they clean things up (or switch them out).

SPEED is of the essence.

Breaking but unsurprising news…. NFLPA’s DeMaurice Smith is Obama henchman.

Ah yes… Smith’s objection to Rush Limbaugh’s presence in a group attempting to purchase an NFL team is objected to by the NFLPA’s head honcho, solely based on Rush’s political views.

That would be the same Smith who worked for AG Eric Holder, and served on Obama’s transition team. It would be the same Smith who was chosen by the NFL union back in March not for his football savvy, but for his Washington connections. A position that came in handy just a couple of months later as he met with members of Congress to head off a lockout.

Yes… we have a WH and associations who do not hesitate to wield their power against their enemies… none of which, apparently, reside in Afghanistan.

If Rush is smart he will sue under libel, slander, and also have this attorney sanction under the Professional Rules of Responsibility for the NY and Michigan BAR. (he could have his license revoked to practice law like Nifong)

If it is true he is the originator of the content on Wikipedia. Get the facts and investigate.

Does’t he have any other better thing to do especially being lawyer?

It was plain to see that this was a strategized move against Limbaugh to cover up the real news of what Barry was doing…the headlines focused on Rush and Balloon Boy instead of:
–the 10,000 troops approved by Barry for Afghanistan
–what is going on with the health care debacle – behind closed doors
–Anita Dunn, Czar Jennings distraction
–Ms Clinton being devastated by Russian counterpart — is she that naieve?

Additionally, if someone is slandered/libeled and the apologies are given with a whimper instead of the bravado of the infractions — irreparable damage done.

As I see it, this is could be an APEX of all this garbage — if Rush sues for libel. He would win and it would put a stop to the; 1) poverty pushers that are relying on corporate ’shakedown’ contributions for livelihoods, 2) white house’s banana republic tactics, and 3) media hacks rethinking their cavalier approach to again practice honest journalism.

This could be a turning point to instilling the virtues of honesty back in our society. . .

PS…Note to you Congressman who are leaving DC every week, early on Thursday afternoons from Union Station and coming back the following week on Tuesday morning — do your constituents work two – three days a week as well? You do not leave and arrive incognito. . .shame on you!

Rush must show prior knowledge to prove malice under public figure slander/libel rules. He has a multi mill suit due to FT team values, but he must make a prior knowledge proof against NBC/CNN. Patterson firm connections or , better, prior work done on the 2005 book by NBC/CNN would be essential to Rush.
Considering the publicity done for the book, I think it is unlikely that NBC/CNN did not research it to decide if they could use it in the anti-right compaign. They didn’t use it, highly likely because they found it was fake at the time, which means prior knowledge and malice.
Rush must sue to get discovery. Fight, Rush, Fight.

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. Don’t we all feel better?

I find it sickening that a couple of friggen Klansman like the maggots Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are considered the arbiters of acceptable views on race. Those two shitbags are identical in every way to David Duke save for the color of the people they claim to represent. These two filthy ass bigots are going to call someone a racist? They should both be beat to death with tire irons on the street in broad daylight for what they have done to this country.

Meanwhile in order to make the claim that Rush Limbaugh has ever said anything that could be called racist, the booger-eating left is forced to peddle lies. A couple of dung-beetle trolls have already demonstrated the truth of that right here in this thread. Without lies, the scumbag left can’t communicate.

Rush Limbaugh: Transcript of radio broadcast from Oct. 14, 2008
By Keith Vance
TRANSCRIPT OF RUSH LIMBAUGH ON HIS RADIO SHOW FROM OCT. 14, 2008

Editor’s note: This is a verbatim transcript of Limbaugh explaining how ACORN, Barack Obama, Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright are all involved in a radical leftwing conspiracy to teach black kids to hate America.

From the time of my birth 57 years ago to today, this country has grown and expanded, prosperity has opened its doors for more and more people around the world, not just people born in this country.

We know the stories of asians immigrating and running rings around people born in this country academically in California. We know all about the immigration, legal and illegal, to get into the country. We know that the standard of living has risen. We know that technological advancement is going along at light speed.

And yet, during this period of time, whether it be the last 57 years, or the last 20 years, it seems that the majority of the black population has remained angry, frustrated and behind – they’ve been left behind. They’re acting like they’ve been left behind, and of course we’ve heard that this is because of racism, natural systemic institutional racism in America. We’re unfair. That this country is just horrible and rotten.

Do you ever ask yourself how it is that people not even born here can come here and in a few short years begin prospering in school, they’re own business, and yet people who are born in this country somehow have been raised to hate it – to still think they’re back in the days of slavery.

I actually think, after studying all this ACORN stuff, and reading what Stanley Kurtz has written about this, I actually believe that what has taken place here, in addition to liberal Democrat legislation – such as the great society and the war on poverty, which a lot of people would now acknowledge really busted up the black family by the government taking the place of a husband and father – he’s free to roam around and bear no responsibility. The mother remained the mother, she got the financial assistance from this legislation from the federal government. The federal government became the father. The father didn’t have to hang around in order for the kids to be OK – depending on how you define OK.

And as you study more and more of this ACORN stuff you find that it has been part of an entire movement that has been going for two maybe three decades right under our noses. We thought that it was just liberal welfare policies and all that that kept blacks from progressing while other minorities grew and prospered but no. It is these wackos from Bill Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to other anti-american afro-centric black liberation theologists, working with ACORN, and Barack Obama is smack dab in the middle of it. They have been training young black kids to hate hate hate this country. And they trained their parents before that to hate hate hate this country. It was a movement. It was a Bill Ayers anti-capitalist anti-american educational movement. ACORN is how it was implemented right under our noses.

They’re doing far more folks than just cheating when it comes to elections and registration. They’re in deep in this mortgage crisis. ACORN and Obama, and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, the Democrat Party have their fingerprints the sub-prime mortgage crisis. The whole concept of affordable housing was people who can’t afford a mortgage are going to get one, because America is unfair.

It has been a movement. It has been a religion. And Obama and Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers were all up to their big ears in it.

The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism (one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well the team works together and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last two days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so quit your whining.
