Peace through Weakness

“Here a question arises: whether it is better to be loved than feared, or the reverse. The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. But since the two rarely come together, anyone compelled to choose will find greater security in being feared than in being loved.”

-Nicolo Machiavelli, “The Prince”

In wake of the disclosure that Iran’s been secretly developing (at least one) secret underground uranium enrichment facility (sounds like spies were caught) or face more harsh words and stern warnings from the “outraged” international community, Iran offers the following response:

Iran said it successfully test-fired short-range missiles during military drills Sunday by the elite Revolutionary Guard, a show of force days after the U.S. warned Tehran over a newly revealed underground nuclear facility it was secretly constructing.

Gen. Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard Air Force, said Iran also tested a multiple missile launcher for the first time. The official English-language Press TV showed pictures of at least two missiles being fired simultaneously and said they were from Sunday’s drill in a central Iran desert. In the clip, men could be heard shouting “Allahu Akbar” as the missiles were launched.

“We are going to respond to any military action in a crushing manner and it doesn’t make any difference which country or regime has launched the aggression,” state media quoted Salami as saying. He said the missiles successfully hit their targets.

President Obama’s biggest weakness is the perception (and the reality?) that he is “no George W. Bush”; that military action as a means of kumbaya diplomacy is off the tables and not an option. In short, President Obama is not feared.

Ahmadinejad praises Obama. Castro praises Obama. Chavez praises Obama. Khaddafi endorses him. Now why do you suppose this is?

George W. Bush was feared (at least in his first term, up until he became damaged politically).

Gee, I wonder what NK’s been up to in the shadow of the media spotlight on Iran.

Barack H. Obama is loved. Is America any safer?

I found this article from The Telegraph and think it has something to say too, especially the comment there: “Ronald Reagan, assisted by Margaret Thatcher, implemented the sensible principle that Russia, from the time of Peter the Great, respects only strength and steely political will.”

–That is something which should be obvious to anyone with any responsibility in foreign relations, and which should be applied when relating to states like Iran and organizations such as Hamas. Yet our foreign relations establishments on both sides of the pond seem to insist on the opposite approach recently.

One great thing about the Reagan/Thatcher approach is that you negotiate from a position of strength, and it can sometimes result in breakthroughs. Bismarck was able to accomplish a great amount of constructive diplomacy along the same lines. If you don’t get a diplomatic breakthrough then you’re still in a strong position. Obama suggests that he believes in the opposite. He doesn’t appear to have a shred of insight into foreign affairs.

Does anyone else find it at least a little bit amusing the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Air Force is named Salami?

This from a news report comment:

Obama is NOT feared….he is laughing stock….and he is doing his damnedest to make the USA the laughing stock of the world.

He is such a pathological narcissist and liar, he will never even realize what a toxic joke he is.

Hussein is certainly not feared, but neither is he loved. You don’t love those for whom you have no respect. Hussein is selling out his country and our enemies know it. They certainly appreciate his treasonous activity, but they do not love or respect him for it.

Barack Obama makes Rufus T. Firefly (Duck Soup) look like an Einstein. It may well be that the only chance we have to survive his insanity is if our enemies, and especially Russia, laugh themselves to death watching the Obama Traveling Socialist Freak Show.

Honest to God, this country is up to its eyeballs in some extraordinarily deadly waters. Who voted for this hemorrhoid? Oh, now I remember. People who want hope & change – and a fundamental transformation of America.

If Obama & Co. have any identifiable intelligence in their heads it’s being held in solitary confinement.

@OLDPUPPYMAX: “They certainly appreciate his treasonous activity, but they do not love or respect him for it.”

This was evident when all those Russians refused to shake Opie’s hand during his great Russian adventure tour. It was also evident in Putin’s pointed “Happy Birthday” wishes to former president George W. Bush, along with references to fond memories of visits to the Crawford ranch. Not only do they not love or respect Opie, they do not TRUST him, either. For all the noise Russia and Europe sometimes make over our “cowboy” presidents, they understand, respect, and trust cowboys. Cowboys operate by an honorable code — not the law of the jungle favored by the so-called “progressives.”

OBAMA WANTS TO BE KING, NOT PRESIDENT!!!!

All of the conservative blogs seem surprised when Obama does something that will hurt the USA.  You either haven’t figured out, or have forgotten, Obama does not want the USA to succeed.  If nothing else will convince you of this, him wanting a civilian police force UNDER HIS CONTROL that has as many members as the military, and funded equal to the military, should convince you he wants to take over the country.  What did Adolph Hitler call his civilian police force?  Obama can’t activate the Nation Guard, governors have to do that.  With his civilian police force that is as strong as the military he could easily take over the country.

I honestly believe Obama wants to be King, not president.  He knows he can’t be king in a republic (we are not a democracy), so he is aligning himself with those who will help make him king.  Since a person can only be king in a dictatorship, Obama is friends of dictatorships since he wants to have one of his own. Using this logic it is easy to see why he wants to be friends with Venezuela and Cuba.

Remember, he had to have a title BEFORE he was president, so he CREATED the title of “Office Of The President Elect.” How long will it be before he DEMANDS to be called “Your Majesty?”

He bowed to the Saudi King because the king is like the Godfather to Obama.  You only bow down to those you are in allegiance to.  In that simple act Obama showed the world who he is subject to, and who he honors the most.

I think Obama’s plan is to turn the USA over to other countries, and he figures he will be crowned king over it, or a part of it.  Now I understand why he couldn’t keep from laughing during his 60 Minutes interview.  He knows they are helping him become king, and he will be ruling over them as their king some day.
