Why Do Politicians Fear Exposure on YouTube?

Loading

I mean, this sort of transparency can be good, no? It’s only damaging if you say something stupid…or behave like an arrogant jackass:

Jim Geraghty:

Rep. Baron Hill (D., Ind.) cannot possibly be this big a jerk all the time. At a recent town hall, a young woman raised her hand and identified herself as a journalism student working on a school project who was told she could not videotape the event.

Student: Why can’t I film this, isn’t this my right?

Baron Hill: This is my town hall meeting, and I set the rules, and I’ve had these rules . . . (jeering) Let me repeat that one more time. This is my town hall meeting for you. And you’re not going to tell me how to run my Congressional office. Now, the reason why I don’t allow filming is that usually the films that are done end up on YouTube in a compromising position.

Here’s a clue: You’re in public office. By that very nature, you’re constantly held to scrutiny. How about not saying or doing anything that embarrasses you? Don’t put yourself in “compromising positions” and then blame others for exposing your behavior to a wider audience.

In radical liberal world “rules” trumps “rights”.

You mean like Van Jones the non communist, non radical, no bigot, non racists?

What an ASS! Doesn’t that guy realize he works for his constituents, not the other way around?

The Indiana 9th Congressional District sits along the southern border with Kentucky and the seat has changed hands back and forth between the GOP and the Dems the last few elections. I hope 2010 we field a strong candidate and throw this bum OUT!

Thank God they are a bunch of idiots!

Too many on both sides of the aisle refuse to acknowledge that they are “public servants.” To them, citizens are simply pesky peons who “can’t tell them what to do” about anything. In 2010 they all should be fired!

I’m in the Indiana 8th, and our Dem rep wont have any town hall meetings at all. He prefaces most of what he says with “this is not a town hall meeting.”

Not a One of them told that Ass Hat that he Could Be Replaced. We say that in Montana and mean it. Mad Max Bauchus will be put out to pasture in the next election. Not out to stud because America does want any more of his kind and Montana as a whole does not need a Socialist in the US Senate representing us. We are not Socialists here.

What Competence?

So far none

SocialistSocialistSocialistSocialistSocialist

There are five (5) Socialists above. Can you tell which one is Obama and which one is Van Jones and which one is Ayers, among others. Don’t they really all look the same? So much so, they can’t tell each other apart either.

Add this to the representative that said ‘I’ll vote against the people if I think I’m right” and you have the mindset of those now in office. A radical change must be made in 2010. We must eliminate all those incompetent we know best anuses stat.

What a jerk. I don’t live in his district, but I sent him an email informing his office I will financially support his opponent during the next election.

Talk about a tin ear. He doesn’t hear himself or perceive that he is confessing to his elitism…

“This is my town hall meeting for ***you***. And you’re not going to tell me how to run my Congressional office.” Makes no sense at all. I’ll be watching next election to see if the people of Indiana have any guts to get this guy out of office.

Let me correct the good Representative. That is not HIS town meeting, that is his contituents’ town meeting. He works for THEM, not vice versa. He reports to THEM, not vice versa.

Time to recycle this one. And all the rest of them who seem to have forgotten just who holds the purse strings.

The lessons of August, how really stupid your congressional clunker really is. without the trappings of the politburo of the walled city of WDC, they are like snails with no shell.

@Toothfairy…I share in your frustration but,

I have been hearing a lot of folks talk about throwing all Congressional Reps out…I think there are a few good ones…we just need more of them. We are supposed to throw out people that have forgotten who they work for… through focused election campaigns, helping good candidates (or incumbents) raise needed funds, AND then actually going to the polls and voting.

The expression is “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.”

Yes there a few good ones. But if you look at their voting records you will see that they didn’t try and stop government expansion or the spending of billions of our hard earned dollars.

To me that makes them kinda good congresscritters but not good enough to keep.

We need to vote in some Citizens that want to stop this slide that this Republic has been in for the last fifty or more years. We need to vote in some Citizens who are not interested in staying in DC and becoming part of the problem.

They will be hard to find. But they are out there. Many, Many are Veterans that have fought and suffered for our Republic. Look to them, they will not disappoint you.

@Papa Ray…you are right, there are a lot of vets who would be excellent elected officials. I have been reading recent articles wishing General Petraeus would run for President in 2012…along with his successful, distinguished military record, he certainly has a strong academic background as well. (Graduated top 5% at the military academy to his fellowship at Georgetown to his PHD in International Affairs from Princeton)

We must support our candidates with money to help get their message out…The dems will have deep pockets in 2010…AND then follow up by voting. Too many folks sat out the 2006 and 2008 elections and look what we now have…

Baron?

Is his last name Harkkonen?

llove how he is afraid of camera’s recording and going to youtube, guess what asshole. SNAP

So who’s the guy in the white t-shirt taking a picture of the girl who wanted to film it?

I live across the river in Lousiville from Indiana and Baron Hill’s constituants are a lot of my friends. Several of them attended this town hall and one of them got into the meeting since the seating was limited, a lot of people were still outside wanting to get in. Everyone there knew what they were going to hear when they went in, Hill was going to lie and be an ass, and he didn’t disappoint. Word is that he won’t make it past the next elections.

On another note we had a town hall with the Liberal Pot Smoking Dem John Yarmuth, and he pulled this same technique. He also made sure to hold it in a school so he could have everyone searched for camera equipment and wouldn’t allow signs. Most came out to oppose his stance on Health Care Reform and even after he heard most of his districts voters say they didn’t want this plan he proclaimed to the news media after the event that he was voting for it anyway.

I am so glad we have Mitch McConnell to even out the liberal bias in my state. He is one of the few good elected officals in washington.

I get the idea that these dimwits show no fear not being re-elected. Why are they acting so arrogant. They have to know it is not endearing themselves to the public? I can’t help but fear there will be no more elections or elections overseen by the thugs in ACORN or the unions or even Obama’s private army loyal only to him.

The dems will have pots of money for the elections if we have them. Yeah, our money, stolen from us in this bogus stimulus.
