The Letter UPDATED: Interview with Ms. Contreras Added

UPDATE: Glenn Beck interviewed Janet Contreras on his TV show.
For all the doubters out there, yes, she’s “real”.

There is a lady in Arizona who has written a remarkable letter.

She submitted it to the host of a radio and television show.

From there, it has gone viral being shared around water coolers and through e-mail around the country.

Take the time to read the whole thing. You’ll be amazed to find that this lady, a fellow American citizen, has put the thoughts of many, if not all, of us into words.

Feel free to copy it and pass it along to your friends, relatives, and co-workers. E-mail it to everyone in your address book.

In the 1700’s there were pamphleteers. Today we have the Internet.

Read, enjoy, and pass it along.

I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This isn’t to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don’t you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let’s just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

What an awsome letter. I could have written that myself as it reflects exactly what I have been thinking and what I think a lot of us Americans are thinking. Way to go Janet!

So many have signed this letter on the Glenn Beck site that the server is down. Can I sign here??
Register me as “ME TOO”!!

Awesome…really

I was so moved by the expression of this Arizona voter’s thoughts…I sent a copy of it to all my Congressional, State Legislature Representatives, Governor, and popped a printed copy in the mail to the White House. I offered an accompanying explanation text … offering they came to mind when I read the letter and perhaps they should be aware of the growing discontent with the direction in which the politicians were guiding OUR country.

I would like to post this letter on my own blog. (reference link back to this site of course). Its awesome!

How about Janet for POTUS… she’s got it all over the bozo there now.

Stellar, lady. Proud you call you a fellow American.

Great letter…. love it. I feel her anger and her being fed up! I’m sending this far and wide, and when G.B.’s servers allow, I’m signing on. Really inspiring and heartfelt.

I share her concerns and concur with her sentiments completely. If anyone in Congress heeds her wisdom and warnings it would be nothing short of a miracle. In 2010 we need to put as many as we can in the unemployment lines.

Janet Contreras reiterates a point the Fellatio Media did not get (or did not want to get) about the Tea Parties: They are not Republican. In fact, they have no political party affiliation at all. The Tea Parties are composed of like-minded Americans who are pissed off at the way our Country is being turned into a corrupt, third-world sh*thole where the rule of law is whatever I say it is today. There is a reckoning coming for the politicos and media from the vast silent majority. If they fail to see that, then too bad for them. But a reckoning is coming, whether our “betters” approve or not. Now that is the American way.

We can start with TERM LIMITS!

What I would like to add to the letter:
Cut your salaries, pay your own health insurance and size down the pensions. Whatever you award to yourself MUST be given to the people who pay for those benefits.

Senator Schumer of New York needs to be among the first to be ousted. He arrogantly disregards any input from individual constituents. I ‘ve called his office and am kept on hold to Baroque
music that reminds me of Marie Antoinette and her “let them eat cake” attitude. Remember he was the one who released the memo about the California bank failure that started the domino
effect last year.

I heard this on Glenn Beck. A great letter and the same sentiments that I have. I agree with all the posts above – Congress needs to wake up, since we know that BO never will.

For everyone who relegates Glenn Beck, the credit HAS to go to him. Glenn is smart enough to know that this country is full of “Janets”, they just needed to be awakened.

I doubt many will ever give Beck the credit, but I feel quite sure that Janet would be the first to agree, that it was Glenn Beck who “got her going” (he did shows on every one of her talking points). Cudos to Janet, and all who follow in her footsteps.

Glenn I know you read blogs, so if you are reading this one, “Keep up the good work, keep teaching, keep inspiring, and don’t let your envious nay sayers throw you off track.”

Last but not least, may all the “Janets” of America rise up and fight for a country worth fighting for. We the people STILL have the power, we just have to USE it (albeit we better do it quickly).

Some credit also goes to Neal Cavuto. Thanks to DVD-R, I watched a great show he did on the czars, which scare the crap out of me. As bad as things are, NOTHING bothers me more than the “power of the czars” and how few are even noticing.

I continue my prediction that Sarah Palin will run as that “new party”; common sense and for the people.” After a white house full of “well educated” narcissist tax cheating, baby killing, lying Harvard grads, who could dare make the argument that Palin isn’t “smart enough” because she didn’t go to the “right schools.” Trust me that the Left already knows this; which is why they continue to crucify her. They KNOW Palin could win. The chances increase daily as the Obamas continue to hang themselves with their own rope, which is why we shouldn’t get TOO bothered by the excesses, arrogance, and most of all, lack of true leadership. That energy will be much better spent on voting out all of the incumbents we can in 2010.

P.S. Five bucks at Walmart; every American needs one!

An outstanding letter that states in no uncertain terms the discontent that I and many others been feeling for quite a while.

Let the new American revolution begin. Bad politicians must be removed from office. Shortsighted and misguided legislation must be repealed. Organizations at odds with our principles must be marginalized and their leaders ridiculed. The silent majority will be silent no more.

BAckwards Boy… WHAT YOU SAID!!!

WOW! She covered everything, amazing, exciting! We the people need this kind of inspiration to get us through these times, to stay strong, get motivated again to write, call, harrass the dead weight we have in the halls of Congress. She’s powerful, wonder if she realizes how many that letter will touch?

Great find Aye. I was trying to turn my Colorado daughter on to Glenn while she was with me in MO. Although she’s conservative, she’s a bit straight laced and can’t get past his facial expressions. I love him, she’ll eventually get it, I’ll hook her with his book.

BTW, our Wal-Mart is selling his book for $8.97, Wal-Mart online, $6.00+, they know it’s going to be a good sell. Wonder if he knows.

Thus roars the silent majority.

Everywhere I read of people who want to “re-brand” or “re-build” the Republican party, mostly the state controlled media who want to re-build it even further to the left. Meanwhile, the alternative, so called conservative media blast the Libertarian party as “loons” and “crackpots.”

Well IMHO it makes more sense for common sense Constitutionalists to take over and re-shape the smaller, more ideologically driven Libertarian party than the bloated “what ever it takes to win,” “sacrifice free market values to save the free market,” Republican party.

Leave religion and legislated morality out of it, add a healthy dose of “Don’t Tread on Me” defense strength to the Libertarian party and we have a working instrument of change. The Republicans have proven every time they’ve been in power that they are inadequate. Remember, the first amnesty for illegals was under Regan.

Thanks Aye; didn’t realize that you were a Beck fan. I too got to meet Glenn last summer, of all places, at an Indian Casino in East San Diego. That said, I couldn’t get one person to go with me, even despite my best selling skills of trying to convice them that this man is going to be REALLY important in American History. I think the ticket was only 10 bucks!

I mostly wanted to be convinced that he was the “real deal” I suspected that he was. He was that and more. Beck once again proves the Ronald Reagan theory of the “power of being under estimated.”

But then, “common sense” should alert most of us to the fact that a kid who loses a mother to suicide at the age of 13, a brother’s death, and a rehabilitated/recovering drug and alcohol once addicted isn’t going to be “your average man.”

Glenn Beck has much to teach America, and most of it isn’t about politics (although right now, we really need his voice in the political arena). He is the epitome of the “power behind pain and brokeness” , and the scriptual verse of “Wise men will be made fools.” Only in humility, not Ivy League degrees, can any of us every know God’s Wisdom (which BTW, is now pretty much void within our political elected). Humility starts with human relationships built on trust and truth (another major deficit among our elected).

One of the many great paradoxes of life is that it’s often our “pain and suffering” that is necessary for us chisel away our egos to find our humility, which simply put, is “truth”, about ourselves and the way we view the world.

To prove my point, for all the Glenn Beck haters, is it his “message” , the way he “presents” it, or his “lack of a college degree***” that repulses you? Whatever you answer, IF what he teaches is true, (as of now he’s been right on just about everything he’s called), it’s all about your ego.

I wonder how many stuck in upside mortages are now sorry they didn’t listen to Glenn 2 years ago?

*** For clarity, I’m not against “education”, just “untruthful misleading advocacy education” taught at most of the major universities. I often say the only thing worse than “a lack of education is a misleading education.”

As for the Ivies, I don’t hate them either, only many of their “agendas.” The best defense against a “wrongful Ivy education” is common sense, good parenting, and an already “truthful view” of the world. I only bring it up so often because like Obama, our culture is “obcessed” with “elite education”, which we can now objectively see from our own train wreck in the WH, is “not” the end all. That said, good folks can still emerge from American Ivies, it just isn’t easy, but it does take “character”; best not to “leave home without it.”

Unfortunately Its going to take everyone pulling in the same direction to change this country back to its roots. The main trouble is Washington and its ways. We need and must have a forensic accounting of ALL income and ALL outgo. The representatives that refuse to follow the CONSTITUTION as written should and must be replaced. Aah so many thoughts run through my head that its hard to write them out, but know that CHANGE must come to Washington, the corruption that we turn a blind eye to must be prosecuted. Janet’s letter is a start in the right direction, lets pour it on, make them D’s or R’s accountable to us the people.

And the People said AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

I think the letter is a hoax. I am working on an article about it at The Pink Flamingo. If Beck cannot produce the woman, I would suspect either he is involved in the hoax, or has been scammed – or the woman is using another name, not her own.

SJR

Wow, what a letter. I don’t care WHO WROTE THIS! I hope it was Janet Contreras and let SJ Reidhead waste his time. This letter needs to be sent to EVERY NEWPAPER IN AMERICA and printed as an OP-ED piece. If some politician is reading this, I repeat what Janet says: “We are coming, We the people ARE COMING!!!!!!!!!!

we both agree with everything in the letter glenn read on his t.v. show last night. we hope all americans who love this country will stand up for our wrights and freedoms the constatution granted us. iwe were only 16 & 17 when we eloped , 50 years this year, we have lost about half of our income we worked and saved for, like a lot of people. we do not think anyones money they they worked for should go to others who expect to be taken care of. this country and its citizens are very giving people and help people all over the world

>>I think the letter is a hoax.>>

How so? You mean it isn’t really written?

Or maybe that there really isn’t a “Janet Contreras”? Who cares?

Some of the early founding fathers wrote anonymously as well. Would that change the validity of the thoughts?

So just exactly _WHAT_ in that letter do you disagree with?

Forget who the author is supposed to be…do you agree with the principles set forth or not?

She covered everything, amazing, exciting!

Actually, no. She said nothing about foreign policy. Also didn’t touch on social issues other than illegal immigration. Lots of room for disagreement there. If she wants a representative in DC who supports the views she mentioned, there’s Ron Paul – but there may well be important unmentioned issues where she doesn’t see eye to eye with him.

She should try the Constitution Party.
