The Revolution will be twittered:

Mock not. As the regime shut down other forms of communication, Twitter survived. With some remarkable results. Those rooftop chants that were becoming deafening in Tehran? A few hours ago, this concept of resistance was spread by a twitter message. Here’s the Twitter from a Moussavi supporter:

ALL internet & mobile networks are cut. We ask everyone in Tehran to go onto their rooftops and shout ALAHO AKBAR in protest #IranElection

For those non-twitter folks the news out of Iran is coming fast and furious. The kids are trying to start a revolution, their chances of success are dim but who should the United States be supporting? It sure isn’t Ahmedanutjob, whom Obama chose to support. Examples out of twitter:

Good photo set of the protests can be found here.

And this latest update from Tehren Bureau:

From Isfahan, where there was a massive crackdown on a university dormitory (along with arrests):

I am safe, yet in desperate need for sleep. Not only did they steal the vote but they are rubbing it in our faces, Ahmadinejad is holding “Thank You Ceremonies”!!! all over the country, they are giving away ice cream and cakes…Isfahan is almost quiet today, but in Tehran & Ahwaz unrest continues, the people have devised a clever method of hit & run, although I am against destruction and anarchy, but that’s the only way left to voice an opposition. The protests have become localized, in the neighborhoods small contingents of protestors gather, chant, throw stones and before the police can react they retreat to their houses only to emerge when the police is gone. In response security forces have deployed thousands of motor riding forces, one drives the other one slings his club right & left, a sort of quick response task force. Today I witnessed a motorcade of at least 30 of such odd couples!!!!

you know the worst thing about all of this is that now there is no refuge left for the people, if someone from within the government does any wrong doing, there will be no higher authority to go to, if you are beaten up, and want to press charges, they will imprison you instead.

I am very angry at myself for being fooled so easily, they got us to vote, which gave them legitimacy, and then they manipulated the results, many are vowing never to vote again.

I ask myself…what’s next?…what worse can happen?…there are rumors circulating that they are going after “mamjma’e tashkhis e maslehat” next…

The other unfortunate thing is that the rift and division in the society is becoming ever so evident, unconsciously we label everyone who supports Ahmadinejad, as an enemy, as a foe…(as they have always regarded us so…)

hum………well I’ll get back to you as soon as I hear something new….right now it seems you have easier access to the news than we do!

the least the west can do is to refuse to recognize Ahmadinejad’s government…with this government they won’t be gaining anything from the negotiations anyway so at least they should halt them all together and thus make a statement………

take care..

Sorry to say the President who would have had the guts to do something like that left office a few months ago….the one we got in replacement does not have the courage or fortitude to act.

Here is an interview with a young Iranian reporter inside Iran:

Iranian officials say the June 12 presidential vote was free and fair. But reformists are crying foul and some even say a “coup” took place in Iran. RFE/RL correspondent Golnaz Esfandiari spoke to a 29-year-old journalist who works for one of Iran’s moderate daily newspapers. She did not want her named to be used because of security fears.

RFE/RL: What happened in Iran or what is happening in Iran? Some call it a coup, while others describe it as an epic and a “people’s election.” What is your view as a journalist who is in Tehran?

Iranian Journalist: The important event that took place in Iran is that it wasn’t an election; it was a coup d’etat. [They] stole 24 million votes of the nation and took them away for themselves. If there were really a winner, they would have to celebrate, but instead they beat people. They performed a coup, but they don’t call it a coup.

RFE/RL: What are the indications?

Journalist: Please don’t use the word “fraud” because it is mitigation of what has happened in Iran. Fraud is what was happening in the past 30 years. This is not fraud. They haven’t [counted ] people’s votes. Using the word fraud is like calling a deep cut a small scratch. There was no fraud; it was a coup.

RFE/RL: Please explain why you call it a coup. Based on what?

Journalist: Based on the military atmosphere that is now ruling [in the country], based on the threats against senior officials in the country. What are the elements of a coup in the world? Just now as we’re speaking, [Mahmud Ahmadinejad] said I’ll clean the Iranian establishment of all these corrupted elements. [If this isn’t] a coup, then what is it?

Coup means that right now they’re beating people in the streets. A coup means they didn’t even count people’s votes. They announced the results without opening the ballot boxes. It was sent as a circular to the state television, which announced it. Is it so difficult for the world to understand this?

RFE/RL: How do you think the world should react to what has happened in Iran and what is happening right now — the protests and the crackdown?

Journalist: Recognizing Iran’s election as an election is a crime against democracy. The countries that have fought for democracy, countries that talk about democracy, if they accept this, they’re betraying themselves. This was not an election. If they accept this, it means they’ve put democracy under question. They’ve launched a coup under the cover of democracy.

This is a very important event. Just look at what the indications for a coup are. Last night, [cellphone] lines were cut; we can’t send SMSs. We can’t check our e-mails. We can’t keep in touch on Facebook. If this was a real election, then why [these measures]? [People] are responding to this in the streets. People were being beaten up in the streets until 4 a.m. They had gone out to be beaten. Everyone is upset and [holding back tears].

From View from Iran, “Why We Were (Not) Naive”, posted yesterday:

We woke up to two messages: one from a friend who is 100% against participating in Iran’s elections, and one from someone who is an Ahmadinejad supporter. You can imagine the glee they felt telling us “I told you so.”

They did not tell us anything.

The fact is, there are vote counters out there who know very well exactly how we and millions of other Iranians voted. They know, and it terrifies them. If we had not participated, we would not have been able to send that message at all.

If you voted please do not kick yourself for being “naive.” (BTW, Now readers know why I posted “Thanks for Voting” before the elections.)

From the “Thanks for Voting” post, Wednesday:

My Iranian Facebook friends have all turned green. I don’t know if they are recycling or conserving energy, what I do know is that they have put a green overlay on their profile images in response to Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s green campaign for president of Iran.

Do you think we should vote? An old friend texted me this morning.

Are you kidding me? I texted back. In the election four years ago, this same old friend tried to encourage friends, family, and strangers to vote for the Reformist candidate Moein despite calls for a boycott. “Do you think America or some other superpower is going to save us? No. We have to vote. It’s the only thing we can do.” In the end, he influenced a couple of people, but could not even get his own family to the polls.

Another Iranian blogger, Adventures of Mr. Behl, worth checking in on.

Also Rotten Gods.

Whatever the Muslim saying for “God speed” is, I say that to those standing up against oppression in Iran. Every story I hear makes it more and more obvious that their election was blatantly fixed. Too bad they never had a Second Amendment.

Send in Al Gore !!!!

The people there can start shouting “SELECTED NOT ELECTED!!!!”

Sunday, June 14, 2009 10:53 AM
Irani-American demonstration in Georgetown, DC. Signs: Ahmandinejad not my President.

That’s right, Barack Obama is your President.

All I can ask is where was the UN in all of this??
Aren’t they the ones who were wanting to come to the US to be sure that Obama got elected? there was a fair election?

If fairness and freedom from dictators and those like Ahmadarnednut who would hijack freedom, then they should have intervened to be sure there was a fair election.*

*Not that I have the slightest faith in the Useless Nations. I just want to hold their feet to the fire at every chance I get. I would love nothing more than to see the UN off American soil and disbanded.

How could the Iranian thug groups be so stupid, throwing American media out of their country. After all, the MSM would have printed/reported anything our beloved Hussein wished and he is an Amadinejad supporter! All that effort and concern for nothing! I mean, if there is a nation that should understand the concept of a wholly owned media, it’s Iran!
