Dick Cheney is the most powerful voice we have for a credible authority on US national security. The MSM owes Americans coverage of Cheneys speech.

Gee I wonder who I’ll be watching 😉

@USMCDaughter1:
Let’s see….One person can’t speak a word without a telepromter, only reads what’s on there and doesn’t believe what he saying, only saying what his speech writers think that the masses want to hear OR a person who speaks from the heart, loves America like no-one can, and believes with all his heart in what he says…… Don’t think it’ll be a hard choice on my part either! 🙂

Sarge

(and the timing of the “other” speech, stinks to high heaven, IMHO)

The expectation is that Obama will deliver nothing save face-facing platitudes and that Cheney will tell it like it is. I’m looking forward to Obama’s speech if for no other reason that he will suffer miserably by comparison to Cheney’s, and perhaps help spark the fire that is Cheney/Palin 2012!

Anyone want to bet obama will accuse some of his most loyal people of treason and then have them taken outside and shot? Remind you of anyone?
Yes I’m kidding, but his endless campaign/war against the Reps mode is silly. Especially so in light of his inability to do anything right.
Obama has started several plates spinning and before they lose speed and crash to the floor, he’s racing to start new plates spinning. Problem is, they are all going to fall and shatter in the end.

Obama isn’t interested in ‘getting things right’, he’s interested in taking America as far as possible from what made her great. This is why he has no respect for the Constitution. But he knows that his radical ideas and vision for this country are repulsive to most Americans, which is why he’s in constant campaign mode. If he could make himself king, there’s no doubt that he would. Everything he does is a power play for more control, more power, and little by little he’s reshaping and re-interpreting laws; bullying private citizens, businesses, and other politicians; trying to make states more and more dependent upon the government; and cooing before the American public, solely for the purpose of carrying out his fascist agenda.

So a sitting president schedules a speech at the same time on the very topic a former VP has scheduled his speech. This is preposterous to all of us, because it shows his weakness, but it’s not to Obama because he knows the media will do its part. He throws them the ally-oop, and they jump as high as they can and finish the job. Cheney’s speech will end up receiving much less attention now, because Obama has handed the media its excuse.

The new definition of ‘Bringing a knife to gunfight”
Obama shows up with a teleprompter 🙂
.

Obama??? National Security?? Move on, Folks… nothing to see here except a petulant little boy who cannot bear to have anyone else in the limelight. Cheney knows what’s going on. BO’s 300 advisors can’t agree, with what is going on, much less what to do about it and BO will read whatever is written on his teleprompter. Hope all who voted for this socialist, empty suit are happy with what they bought.

“Send President Obama to the National Archives”. Maybe he’ll return all the stolen National Archive records.

I have seen the ping pong match, I think I will watch Cheney.

I,ll watch Cheney, but ya think he might want to reschedule to like maybe an hour or two after The Wan?

I’m watching Obama’s speech and it absolutely infuriates me. Misleading, demonizing, distorting, politicizing, blame-gaming, all while wearing a halo and obfuscating through lofty rhetoric.

@Wordsmith: I can’t stand to listen to him for more than a few seconds. So far, all I’ve heard is a justification for bringing the terrorists from Gitmo to the U.S.

Let him try.

Most of the lead up to justification of whatever the hell it is he thinks he’s doing, is whining about how his hard decisions are all because of the actions of the previous administration putting him in this spot, kicking their problems down the road for him to have to solve and deal with.

And also convincing the American public that he’s the good guy and they were the bad guy, calling waterboarding and enhanced interrogation torture, which of course he’s putting a stop to, to good applause, since it goes against our values. He’s the one simplifying the arguments and distorting them. Pats himself on the back over his EO “banning” enhanced harsh interrogations; but his EO revoking torture said much the same thing against torture that Bush’s 2007 EO said.

Did Obie tell us when he would declassify the memos which V.P. Cheney insists show how waterboarding THREE TERRORISTS saved thousands of lives?

Did he mention that at ALL?

I can’t believe he is stepping on Cheney’s speech in this obvious way. It is a sign of weakness.

He talks of releasing the detainee photos as endangering the lives of our troops; and he said the same of the previous actions of the previous Administration as endangering the lives of our troops. Well, how about not (mis)characterizing what the previous Administration did as “torture”? I’d say that inflames and endangers lives. If he were truly a uniting voice, he could easily state a case for why he disapproves of enhanced interrogations, while not demonizing and overexaggerating the reasons why the Bush team, unopposed by Pelosi and much of America in 2002 on the heels of 9/11, waterboarded 3 TERRORISTS.

Mike & Wordsmith – I have to turn this off, it’s making me sick to my stomach. I don’t know how you two do it, his voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Mike – His ego is his biggest weakness, can’t stand to share the light with anyone or anything. Quite possibly the Ego in Chief tops Clinton in that department.

The inexperience and weakness of this idiot are going to get us all killed, either in one of his dopey little smart cars or any other of innumerable ways he’s made our lives unsafe.

Mike & Wordsmith – I have to turn this off, it’s making me sick to my stomach. I don’t know how you two do it, his voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

It makes me ill, too; but I do it because his rhetoric needs to be exposed for the empty and misleading words that they are.

We all thank you for it, believe me.

I just can’t stand the sound of his voice and that arrogant uptilt of his nose. I’d rather read the speech than be subjected to his whining. It’s going to take me an extra half hour in the gym to get my BP down…

Let’s be clear, this potus needs to be exposed by the MSM for his real, dangerous agenda for USA!

The Obama Media isn’t going to do diddly. They drink the Kool Aid by the truckload.

@Mike’s America:

I strongly believe that the Gitmo issue is the Achilles Heel of Obie.

When even the Dims in Congress balk at the idea of closing it down by an overwhelming margin, that reflects the fact that Obie is sorely out of touch.

The NY terror plot that was just broken up is a prime example of the jihad recruitment that is going on in US prisons.

Anyone think that the same, or worse, won’t go on in US prisons when the Gitmo inhabitants are relocated?

Anyone?

Mr. Cheney is about ready to speak….

More letters to editors of MSM newspapers and calls to managing editors of MSM outlets from the credible people demanding real journalism and objectivity can make a difference!

Man!!

Cheney is just beating the living bat snot out of the caterwauling class.

It’s a beautiful thing.

I love Mr. Cheney’s comment about how terrorists view our internal politicking – I agree, they don’t think they misjudged us, they realize they have us by the throat.

Cheney’s speech is bringing my blood pressure back down. Glad Obama’s speech was first.

Text of Mr. Cheney’s speech is here –

Enjoying how coolly and calmly he is dismantling the TOTUS…and yes Mr. Cheney, your Administration will stand up well in history. Not a doubt in my mind.

Where’s Cheney’s TelePromTer?

ROFLMAO…I think Teleprompter VP model resigned when he realized speaking from a knowledge base made more sense. Would explain why Biden gaffes so much !!!

Anyone parse Zero’s speech and find out how many times he said “I” and “me”? Most notable differences between the two… other than utter logic and straight ahead, no BS or rhetoric by Cheney… is O’s speech is all about him. His beliefs, his policies, his decisions are correct. And oh yes, it’s all Bush’s fault.

Obie has three arrows in his quiver:

I’ll read it and find out Mata 🙂

No surprise how the speeches differ – with one it’s all about the “O” the other, about common sense and strength. 3 3/4 years more of this I will either be in extremely good shape from working off all the frustration or I’ll bust a blood vessel.

Here’s Obie’s speech:

@USMCDaughter1: Thanks for the link to Cheney’s:

Someone may want to do a comparative post on the two. I’ll be looking for video of Cheney’s speech too.

In the meantime, I think I will ahead and post the entire text of Cheney’s speech. Every word hit home and by the reaction of Bob Beckel on Fox News you know it got under the Dems skin.

The documents that we hold in this very hall – the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights -are not simply words written into aging parchment. They are the foundation of liberty and justice in this country, and a light that shines for all who seek freedom, fairness, equality and dignity in the world.

Really? They must have put masking tape over the 5th amendment and any other document having to do with contract law.
