Pelosi About To Be Investigated Over The Interrogation Methods Used On Those Responsible For 9/11

Loading

Funny funny funny stuff here. Nancy Pelosi is going to be investigated about what she knew and when she knew it over the completely legal interrogation method used in 2002 on three al-Qaeda members responsible for 9/11:

The House majority leader reluctantly agreed Tuesday that congressional hearings should investigate Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s assertion that she wasn’t informed, more than six years ago, that harsh interrogation methods were used on an Al-Qaeda leader.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., called Republican challenges to Pelosi’s assertion a diversion from the real question of whether the Bush administration tortured terrorist suspects. Nonetheless, he acknowledged the controversy should be resolved.

Democrats will hold a series of hearings on Justice Department memos released last month that justified rough tactics against detainees, including waterboarding — simulated drowning — and sleep deprivation.

While Democrats want the hearings to focus on what they call torture, Republicans have tried to turn the issue to their advantage by complaining that Pelosi and other Democrats knew of the tactics but didn’t protest. Pelosi was briefed in 2002 while on the House Intelligence Committee.

Will she survive the loons in her own party after they discover the evidence? I doubt it. But that is only if this investigation is for real, which I also doubt. We have seen time and again the “investigations” ran by Democrats turn out to be nothing more then a sham….the whole Plame idiocy comes to mind….and I would not be surprised to see the same level of scrutiny placed on Pelosi, the queen bee.

Couldn’t of happened to a more deserving person imo tho.

Hoyer, of course, is not thinking if Nancy is “out”, he’s “in”; no, no,no, bad thought, not possible. Tin pot dictatorship or stalinist purge, take your pick.
Before going into a feeding frenzy, note that Nancy is lying about having done the right thing. I would vote against her in a minute because she is a moron, but with the respect that she is a moron who rose to the occasion and did the right thing when she could have gotten away with failing her oath. Sad for us all that she feels she must lie about it now; she had a choice, she could have signed a “hold” letter and watched our body bags come through Dover, or permitted us to do what our people needed to do because of our total lack of correct intel. I respect her decision, and salute her for it, even if she is a moron in other things.

When planning something befit for a “super genius,” first figure out whether you are the Coyote or the Roadrunner.

Great news if this goes through. I’m guessing you’ll be less pleased once Republicans start getting pulled in, but I think this is a good thing – let’s stop talking about partially disclosed memos and figure out once and for all who approved, why, and if it’s legal. I’ll take the word of a special prosecutor, but I don’t understand your sentiment Curt: “… and I would not be surprised to see the same level of scrutiny placed on Pelosi, the queen bee.” Are you saying Pelosi will, at best, be convicted of purgery? Also, since when was the Plame investigation run by Democrats?

I personally don’t want all this shit coming out. It will only inflame tensions in Iraq and make things less stable. If the pols want to sling crap in each other, then lets get nakked and show it all and watch Iraq burn once again.

@Blast

I wouldn’t ever want to see Barney Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Lieberman, McCain, Rush, or 99.9% of those DC jokers on either side nakked.

There are exceptions, but far too few to make it worth the horror.

I think questioning Pelosi is good. For years, the world media presented her as a saint, and now people are relooking at her. Some people see her as the “guardian of torture” now, which is kind of ironic. I just see her as a hypocrite. What’s all this fuss about “torture” anyway?

“*Defense officials said that General McKiernan was removed because of what they described as a conventional approach to what has become one of the most complicated military challenges in American history. He is to be replaced by Lt. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, a former commander of the Joint Special Operations Command who recently ran all special operations in Iraq.

I am confused President Obama stands up and says from now on no ‘harsh interrogations’ the US military will only use the Army Field Manual to interrogate prisoners.
Then President Obama fires Gen. David McKiernan, a man who lives and dies by the Army Field Manual and replaces him with Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal a man whos whole career has been in Joint Special Operations Command.
.

The mainstream media wouldn’t do it. So we are trying to get your important messages to the American people. 22 This post is a suggested read at, http://aresay.blogspot.com/

“*Nancy Pelosi is going to be investigated about what she knew and when she knew it”

I’m going to start a “Nancy is innocent until proven guilty campaign”.
The more she talkes the further she digs…I just want to help her dig 🙂
.

No comment worthy of note besides whispers…RESISTANCE NOW…or Be Slaves…for Generations…

Treat Ms. Pelosi the same way she treats “pubs” … GUILTY until proven GUILTY.

@philly_nj: I don’t know much about either of these generals, but the response to this has been that it’s a sound common-sense decision. In particular, the NRO and even Goldfarb at the Weekly Standard are quietly applauding this.

Pelosi investigatted by a democrat congress? What a joke.

of course, it could be that even the dems are sick of her.

Personally I think she needs to be **** ****** with a cattle prod so she understands what REAL torture is and what it isn’t….but given that she would probably enjoy that immensely,I don’t intend to hold my breath until that happens

When Nancy opened her big yapper saying that she was NEVER briefed/informed, it opened up a can of worms. Whenever you say something so definitive, your critics will go over your past comments (or documents) with a fine comb. It didn’t take too long before she got dinged.

Not only has she embarassed herself but could end up dinging other DEMS as well. That’s a big no-no. Make a fool out of yourself is one thing, but to make fools of your co-horts (or party) is another.

If this gets too hot (this needs to play out a little bit more and nothing is set in stone), and Nancy really does get “investigated”, then Nancy is toast and persona-non-grata.

Words and actions do have meaning, and lack of either can sometimes carry more sonsequences than the latter. The Dem’s need to have their feet held to the fire even if the fire will be a candle in a wind tunnel.

It is important for the public to know WHAT she knew and WHEN.
If she really did know and it comes out, good luck trying to say “Well, I tried to stop them” or “Hey, I went on record as opposing this…”

=============================================
Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), an influential Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has threatened to call House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) before the Senate for an investigation of abusive interrogation techniques used during the Bush administration.

“I don’t want to retry Nancy Pelosi — that’s not my goal — but if you’re going to accuse these people in the Bush administration of being evil and committing a crime, then if she was told about [interrogation tactics], I want to know what she was told,” Graham said during a break in a hearing on Bush-era interrogation practices.

[edit]

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.), a former member of the Intelligence Committee who sits on Judiciary, appeared briefly to remind colleagues that lawmakers have few options to discuss or oppose policies they learn of during classified intelligence briefings.
=============================================

Few options to oppose? How about an official memo to the person/people who informed you and state that you oppose it? Sure, nothing has to come of it BUT you are then on record as opposing it AND WHY!

That way, should something like THIS come up, you have your official opposition signed and dated.

While nothing may come of it (as her having to step down or what not) – she would then be exposed to the left – and I am sure they would be non too pleased with her over that.

I mean come on – they are already having a cow that Ms. California got to keep her crown …
Nancy siding with Bush? BAH – I await their (the left’s) calls for treason 😉

What makes this so interesting is that the Reps have no real power to do anything as DEMS control the house/senate.

It’s curious that the DEM leadership would let it get this far. Either it’s a ruse or they’re ready to let Pelosi swing in the breeze.

I realize many are in favor of of this change of direction inAfghanistan…but some Vietnam veterans are sceptical, an example of their concern is this article from ‘The American Thinker’ “Afghanistan Obama’s Vietnam ?”:
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/05/afghanistan_obamas_vietnam.html

Personally I don’t care if Obama fails as president, I do not want our military to go down with him, especially front line troops.
