Burris “Forgot” About Blago Solicitation

Can anyone say perjury?

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s brother solicited U.S. Sen. Roland Burris for up to $10,000 in campaign cash before Blagojevich named Burris to the coveted post — something Burris initially failed to disclose under oath before an Illinois House impeachment panel, records and interviews show.

Burris acknowledges being hit up for the money in a new affidavit he has sent to the head of the House committee that recommended Blagojevich be removed from office.

The affidavit is dated Feb. 5 — three weeks after Burris was sworn in to replace President Obama in the Senate.

Burris — who did not give money to the Blagojevich campaign fund in response to the previously undisclosed solicitation — provided a copy of the sworn statement to the Chicago Sun-Times Friday in response to questions about his contacts with the Blagojevich camp about fund-raising.

Remember, Burris submitted a affadavit early on that he had absolutely NO contact with Blago….this affadavit was supplied because the the House was investigating a Pay-To-Play scheme for the seat he was given. Being asked for 10 grand just prior to being named to the seat would qualify as a element in the Pay-To-Play crime don’t ya think?

But he forgot…..

And that swamp of corruption grows.

so instead of ivestigating if there was anyhting untoward going on between burris and blago they seated him so they didn’t look racist and mean. my opinion on that, sorry. sounds like he bought the seat for far less than the going rate before the story broke. yeah, he forgot, don’t think so, he didn’t forget, he just didn’t want his chance in the sun to go away.

It’s a damn shame and grossly unfair.

“I forgot” never worked for me,and I even gave up trying that one most of sixty years age.

Dang, Curt. I don’t want to play kill-joy here, but if it’s not Burris, what other corrupt Dem would replace him?

In the long run, it’s just another Chicago liberal/Dem thug with a vote in the Senate. Who cares what their name is??

Even though I’ve never voted for any of these characters, am often angered by what our state is put through because of them, I still get an anxious icky feeling whenever I see the stuff in print. It’s not our fault, but it’s still embarassing.

Here’s a copy and paste from an Illinois blog that closely monitors the shady characters we send to DC. Burris has had 3 different versions in SWORN statements, two affidavits and oral testimony for the impeachment committee. But, for Senate dems, that means he’s earned his wings and will fit right in.

* Burris has now offered three different versions of events regarding Rod Blagojevich’s appointment of him to the Senate. In his original sworn affidavit to the impeachment committee, Burris wrote…

Prior to the December 26, 2008 telephone call from Mr. Adams, Jr., there was not any contact between myself or any of my representatives with Governor Blagojevich or any of his representatives regarding my appointment to the United States Senate.

But when he testifed to the House impeachment committee, Burris said he also had a conversation about his interest in the appointment with Lon Monk, a Statehouse lobbyist who was Blagojevich’s former chief of staff. Other than that, though, Burris said there were no further conversations.

* Now, however, Burris has filed another affidavit with the impeachment committee chairperson, Majority Leader Barbara Currie…

In his new affidavit, Burris confirms he also spoke of his interest in the Senate appointment with Blagojevich insiders John Harris, Doug Scofield and John Wyma.

So, he’s gone from no contact with anyone in his original sworn affidavit, to one guy in his sworn testimony, to five guys in his revised affidavit.

* And here’s the kicker…

Burris acknowledged having three conversations with Robert Blagojevich, who headed the Friends of Blagojevich campaign fund — and one of those was likely recorded by the FBI. […]

In October and again in November, Burris spoke with Robert Blagojevich, who initially asked him to host a fund-raiser. Burris said he’d get back to him after the election, sources with knowledge of the conversations said. The two later talked again, and Burris again was asked for campaign cash.

Burris said he refused to contribute and “made it unequivocally clear … that it would be inappropriate and pose a major conflict because I was interested in the Senate vacancy.”

A source with knowledge of the exchange said ********there was some discussion about Burris possibly getting others to give or raise money on his behalf.********* Not so, according to Burris: “I did not donate or help raise a single dollar for the governor from those conversations and would never consider making a donation through a third party.”

Robert Blagojevich’s lawyer claims that his client didn’t know of Burris’ interest in the Senate seat. That would be a crucial point because Burris said during his testimony that there was no quid pro quo offered or accepted.

The question now is whether anyone can be believed at this point. Since Burris has given us three different SWORN versions of events, he isn’t exactly the greatest witness for himself. But if Burris is on the FBI surveillance tapes talking to Rob Blagojevich, then we may eventually get an answer.

I don’t think the swamp is growing.

I think folks are finally starting to explore it a little bit.

It looks like Burris is going down too, so his senate might go on the market again….so… where do I bid..? Will it be on eBay…?

I hope Burris is packing his bags.

The Dems have ever turned a blind eye to perjury, suborning perjury, witness tampering, bribery, or tax dodging before now.

Oh, wait…..

Ms. Shirley Bassey sums it up best.

Roll the tape:

Libby was convicted for not remembering a triviality. But scumbag Democraps are given a pass when they blatantly disregard important and incriminating evidence. Unbelievable!

aka – yonason

We seem to have willingly handed the reigns of government over to the Mafia of politics. Let me ask where else in the world would someone spend a billion dollars, to get a job that pays $200,000. How do people like the shlub from Maryland be elected to office having less than $10,000 to his name and then 6 yrs later he’s worth millions. The people in this country need to grow a pair and through all the scum out, and start from scratch.

@HasItBeen4YearsYet?:

So it’s you Yonason, thought it was a newbie, almost lost control of my coffee. LOL

@Aye Chihuahua:

Thanks Aye, loved all 7:23 of it and was that Obama spinning on his head, couldn’t quite tell? Nice way to start the day, just ignore the IL pols part of the thread, can we please?

A couple of weeks ago the Heart Attack Cafe video had a waitress in it that looked just like my granddaughter, Mr. Piano player looks like my youngest son, same facial features, hair, clothes and moves. So, I was distracted but did pay attention to Ms. Bassey, she’s still wonderful.
