Daschle’s visage displays a grim resolve to see this through to the end. Either that, or he’s got terrible gas.

gotts ta love them dems. they are so honest and above board.

These bozos are doing everything they can think of to raise our taxes and everything they can think of to avoid paying their own, he didn’t make a mistake, he cheated.

I remember reading an article shortly after President Bush was first elected. He had met with House and Senate leaders in the OO. The article said President Bush looked Tom Daschle in the eye and said “don’t ever lie to me.” Now we know why he made that remark.

It gets much worse for little Tommy.

Daschle’s failure to pay more than $101,000 taxes on the car and driver a wealthy friend let him use from 2005 through 2007 is not the only tax issue the former Senate Majority Leader has been dealing with since his December nomination prompted a more thorough examination of his income tax returns.

@Missy: YIKES…

The report indicates that Daschle’s failure to pay more than $101,000 taxes on the car and driver a wealthy friend let him use from 2005 through 2007 is not the only tax issue the former Senate Majority Leader has been dealing with since his December nomination prompted a more thorough examination of his income tax returns.

Mr. Daschle also didn’t report $83,333 in consulting income in 2007.

The Senate Finance Committee Report also notes that during the vetting process, President Obama’s Transition Team “identified certain donations that did not qualify as charitable deductions because they were not paid to qualifying organizations. Daschle adjusted his contribution deductions on his amended returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007 to remove these amounts and add additional contributions.” This adjustment meant a reduction in the amount he contributed to charitable foundations of $14,963 from 2005 through 2007.

With the unreported income from the use of a car service in the amounts of $73,031 in 2005, $89,129 in 2006 and $93,096 in 2007; the unreported consulting income of $83,333 in 2007; and the adjusted reductions in charitable contributions, Daschle adds a total of $353,552 in additional income and reduced donations, meaning an additional tax payment of $128,203, in addition to $11,964 in interest.

@Aye Chihuahua: Another good find!

Ah yes, then we have democrats out doing the spin thing.

Schumer on Face the Nation:

“Daschle is one of the most respectable people..” I wouldn’t trust is judgement.

On Fox News Sunday Durbin states:

“Tom Daschle is one of the most honest people I’ve ever known.” Doesn’t say to much for Durbin, but from personal dealings with this man/liar, I know he wouldn’t know honest if it hit him in the face.

On Meet The Press John Kerry says:

“He’s a person of enormous integrity” “innocent mistake” Again, judgement/trust, John Kerry?

On CNN’s State of the Union”

Senator Nelson thinks that first reports are not always accurate and it’s premature to say how you are going to vote. He voted for all of President Bush’s nominees so at this point in time he is not ready to vote no.

Nelson really disappoints this time.

Then we have Senator Backus on another program saying that Daschle was embarassed and disappointed at what has occured. Break out the violin.

If something like that happened with the piddly amount of whatever mistake we would have made on our taxes we would have been scared about whatever we might have to face. This was not an innocent mistake, it was cheating that would have been unchecked and not cleaned up if he hadn’t have been nominated for this position!

“Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter.” — Sen. Tom Daschle

Congressional Record, May 7, 1998, p. S4507.

I was going to say this is unbelievable, but unfortunately it is. Tax cheating isn’t the only baggage Daschle brings on board. Read it and weep:

Liberal Democrats don’t care about raising our taxes because they don’t pay them, apparently!

Serious question: Can anyone name any U.S. administration that has had more tax chiselers?

@George:

I cannot think of any that have come even close to this George.

There’s going to be another nominee with problems in the next day or two.

She’s Hilda Solis, the President’s pick for Labor Secretary.

Seems that she “forgot” to disclose that she is on the board of a company that does lobbying.

Hope. Change. A short road to disappointment.

Yesterday, Mancow Mueller and Pat Cassidy(WLS Chicago) discussed a big headache that is about to befall Obama. Bob Woodward has mentioned a big story about to be released that is going to be very damaging. Whether is has to do with him or his cabinet picks, doubt that any of it would sink in or concern the Obama voters.

This administration is turning into a circus side show.

ANOTHER nominee drops out over tax issues.

At this rate I’m gonna need some poster board to make a flow chart.

Official: Performance czar withdraws candidacy

WASHINGTON (AP) – Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.

Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination after President Barack Obama announced their selection.

“Nancy Killefer has decided to withdraw her nomination, and we accepted her withdrawal,” Tommy Vietor, a White House spokesman, said Tuesday. The 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co., was expected to explain her reasons for pulling out later in the day.

When her selection was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.

Hope!

Change!

Just not in the right direction.

PS – Can we question their patriotism yet?

Now, this is funny.

The Internet is so great because nothing ever goes away.

Tom Daschle before he had a driver and car service:

@Aye Chihuahua:

“Nancy Killefer has decided to withdraw her nomination, and we accepted her withdrawal,” Tommy Vietor, a White House spokesman, said Tuesday.”

Wonder how far under the bus they had to crawl to retrieve that withdrawal before they were able to accept it.

Daschle also withdrew.

Breaking news at 10AM Pacific time… Daschle backs down. Or, “another one bites the dust”.

ADDED: Ooops… I see you updated your comment too, Missy. LOL
