UPDATE: Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey cites Jake Tapper’s blogpost Evidently the PEBO transition team is whining about Richardson being less than “forthcoming” … making ‘em look bad. Ah… it seems once a “victim”, *always* a “victim”.

~~~
All you unemployed? There’s a new commerce secretary opening up in Obama’s cabinet. NM Gov. Bill Richardson is bowing out due to an ongoing investigation of a major campaign contributor getting a juicy state contract.
Obama, no doubt happy to have something… *anything*… to say that doesn’t require the “one President at a time” excuse, issued this statement:
“It is with deep regret that I accept Governor Bill Richardson’s decision to withdraw his name for nomination as the next Secretary of Commerce,” the president-elect said in a statement released early this afternoon. “Governor Richardson is an outstanding public servant and would have brought to the job of Commerce Secretary and our economic team great insights accumulated through an extraordinary career in federal and state office.
“It is a measure of his willingness to put the nation first that he has removed himself as a candidate for the Cabinet in order to avoid any delay in filling this important economic post at this critical time.”
Read Richardson’s statement here.
Ah judgment… Well let’s see if PEBO can do better on his second try. Wonder if any more will fall in the Blago wake?
makes you wonder if all of the democrats in office are dirty, how many will go down? i was flipping the channels and saw this on fox, i actually was surprised. one would think obama would have done a better job selecting his cabinet, but then again, he has no experience at this sort of thing, his flaws are showing big time.
Haven’t heard any of the Obama faithful response on this yet, since it’s new news, Luva. But it was not a secret that this investigation was ongoing. And as my “update” links show, the PEBO transition team feels duped…
Personally, what comes to mind is all the hubris about McCain picking Palin as Veep when Troopergate was underway. My guess is the crickets will kick in full force when it comes to Rahmbo’s as of yet un’defined proximity to Blago’gate, and Richardson’s to this pay-to-play case.
Rest assured, PEBO will come out of this… unscathed and undamaged. “Judgment” is a campaign word that ended under the bus with so many associates.
I used to call Bill Clinton Teflon Bill. Might have to change that to “slick Willie” and award the new “Teflon” status to PEBO.
Mata,
Even teflon eventualy wears out. Don’t worry, his day will come and maybe faster than you think. I am reading a multitude of blogs these days, and many people are still strongly on his case. The file is getting so huge and it is handled by private detectives and lawyers. Just wait till the shit hits the fan! O boy, I am anxious for that day to come. Be patient, it is coming.
teflon does wear out and i can’t wait for it to happen in obama’s case. i really wonder at the judgement of some people, how could they have voted for this moron, an dstill be singing his praises. my very good friend who is a dem is wondering why all of this is happening, she thinks obama was really duped, she actually believes this shit. maybe one of these days the media will wake up and vett these people and stop haroing on a teen age mother and where exactly we can see russia from.
But it isn’t just Obama and Richardson that Rubin has ties to. According to federal law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation, federal officials are also looking into CDR’s political and financial ties to Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, as well as to Democrat state and local officials in Illinois, California, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
