Losing One Of The Real News Guys

Posted by: Curt @ 8:26 pm in msm  | 2 views

And now we are losing one more serious newscaster in Brit Hume. Tonight was his last show and with that one of the last with any real gravitas:

Now who do we have left? Anderson Cooper, Shep Smith, and Katie Couric…..oh, and now Bret Baier

What a nightmare.

WHEN BAD THINGS ARE A SIGN OF IMPENDING GOOD

In the “End of days”, “Truth will fail. – Isaiah 59:15″

Actually, Brit Hume’s departure comes as no surprise, as common sense and intelligence are no longer generally viewed as desireable assets. In fact, I think that may well turn out to be the hallmark of the Obama years, if events proceed as they have already begun.

But the dark cloud has a silver lining in that we can be sure the real Messiah will soon be revealed.

I’m betting Brit sees the direction FOX is going in and doesn’t like it. Good luck Brit. It won’t be the same without you.

“Good luck Brit. “

Ditto that!

He’s probably the last of the real journalists, at least the well known ones, anyway.

Regarding the others who collectively can’t fill even one of his shoes, I quote from a book entitled “The Wit and Wisdom of Spiro T Agnew” that I saw in a bookstore in Ft.Lauderdale some many years ago, “When small men cast long shadows, it’s a sure sign the sun is setting.” And the funniest part? It’s a book of blank pages.

I’m sorry to learn that he is leaving. Of all the major anchors of any regular newscast he’s the best and the Special Report program he created is the best one hour of serious news on television.

@Mike’s America:

“…. the Special Report program he created is the best one hour of serious news on television.”

But, since they’ve discovered they have no more need for real news he’s alas as expendable to them now as air is to a corpse.

And those of us who will miss him aren’t a large enough base for them to worry about,

…and why does this stupid editing program keep scrolling down so I can’t read it, or go to a place I wan’t to edit? It’s a real pain.

Yonason: I’ve noticed that most “news” programs spend more time on the latest fad or celebrity story (missing person, kid falls down a well etc) than they do on matters that have a direct impact on us all. If you look at Fox News ratings Special Report usually got a million or so fewer viewers than the night time lineup. But that might be due more to the time the show is offered. Switch Bill O’Reilly and Special Reports time slots for a week and I’d be interested to see how the viewership changes.

P.S. Sorry about the editor. Which internet browser version are you using?

@Mike’s America:

Yeah, and anyone who remembers what news USED to be like can’t stomac the tripe they call news now.

“news” at 11:00:

“Coming up tonight, stuff you’ve been hearing all day, and should you carry your umbrella tomorrow, or buy a boat?” … obligatory small cross-talk between news-readers … “More after these words …. interminable commercials …. “High school students go on field trip, … , mother gives birth, … , local Democrats accuse Republican of being Conservative, … , local weather forcaster has birthday, … , weather tomorrow after these words tonight…” etc., etc., nothing you haven’t heard all day, constant repetition puntuated by commercials, what they really want you to watch them for, to sell you stuff. And the terrorists who were arrested in New Jersey for being 24 hours away from blowing up Trenton? You have to get that on the internet, because it’s just not “newsworthy” – they only have so much time, and the fast breaking story of the opening of a new Starbucks is just so much more important.

I remember when the BBC used to be a real news outlet. There would be more actual news in 30 seconds than a whole program on any commercial station today. Whenever you have anyone discussing what happened, and telling you what it means, you have an editorial, not news. I don’t think anyone does that anymore, certainly not the Left, and not even the Right. It’s a pretty sad state of affairs.

And thanks for the tip. Next time it happens I’ll check which version I’m using, Mozilla, or Internet Exploder.

Yonason: I keep hoping that some outfit like Fox will have a specialized news channel for NEWS, and leave the infotainment on their regular outlets. I find myself watching more of C-Span which is something only a nerd would have done 10 years ago.
