The “Transparency” Of The Obama Administration

Ch-ch-change right?

Barack Obama is promising that next week he’ll disclose contacts between his staff and disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s office, but he’s stopped short of pledging to release e-mails or other records that could be key to understanding those contacts.

Whatever such records exist may never see the light of day, thanks to a gap in government records disclosure laws that allows presidential transition teams to keep their documents — even those prepared using taxpayer dollars — out of the public record.

But for now, a spokeswoman for President-elect Barack Obama said the transition team was not covered by a public information law that Politico cited in requesting copies of Obama staffers’ emails and notes about Blagojevich’s efforts to fill the Senate seat Obama vacated after winning the presidency.

Hmmm, how shocking. Obama actually saying one thing and then doing another. Shocked I tell ya!

But really, imagine Bush saying something like this. The left would go completely bonkers, but with the one…is all a-ok.

Well, Curt – i guess that’s how it goes. We’ll see how mellow the right is when Obama undermines legislation with signing statements. or decides that US attornies (such as Fitz) get the axe – midstream – I’m sure you’ll all be as quiet as clams. or perhaps – if Obama administration hacks go right into industries doing business with the government – I’m sure you’ll remember Blackwater and just keep your peace…

Politicians telling the truth? Come on. This is the USA. Citizens are pushovers and demand little from those they elect.

Try living near Cleveland Ohio. Feds kicking in the doors of politicians, City Council members busted for taking bribes, being drunk while driving, assaulting co-workers, etc. The region where I live at needs a Federal Enema to flush out all the *you know what!*

Remain quiet? Only if the left remains quiet. If they do then they have shown themselves to be the complete frauds we all thought they were. They screamed bloody murder when Bush did it, and if they don’t do the same when Obama does it….and rest assured, he will….then you can bet your ass we won’t remain quiet.

You really need links to prove Bush’s heavyhanded signing staements? or firing US Attorneys? Do you need a link to prove that NYC is in NY? Because my statement was pretty common knowledge. I think it’s cute, however, that folks like you get all bookish and academic when it comes to Bush – but ANY statement about Obama is A-Okay!

And I’d appreciate it if you stopped with the Ms. stuff – I know – as a conservative, that cross dressing and wide stances is kinda your thing – but I’m a (sometimes) happily married man…

Yes. Why don’t you tell us what was so “heavy handed” instead of making broad partisan statements?

Every admin as the right to fire their US attorneys, who serve at the will of the POTUS. Every admin has fired… many times cleaned house… of the previous admin’s attorneys. Bush made the error of keeping mostly Clinton appointees. They held that position longer than they deserved, IMHO.

So you have a problem with a POTUS exercising his power?

Perhaps among the Huffpo/DailyKOs/Firedoglake set, warp’ed. Your broad statement says nothing save that you despise Bush. Otherwise all you do is babble in generalities. And it’s really boring…. not to mention unproductive.
