Captured Mumbai attacker implicates Pakistani military, intel

The only member of the jihadi assault team captured during the Mumbai attacks has fingered several Pakistani organizations as providing support to the group, according to reports in the Indian press.

Kasab has implicated the Pakistani Navy and the Dawood Ibrahim criminal network based in Karachi for providing assistance and training for the Mumbai assault team, police sources told India Today.

Indian intelligence has identified additional links to Pakistan and the Lashkar-e-Taiba. An “intercepted conversation between Muzammil, Muzaffarabad chief of LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) operations, and a certain Yahya in Bangladesh,” showed a direct link in the Mumbai attacks, The Times of India reported. “Yahya arranged SIM cards, fake ID-cards primarily from western countries like Mauritius, UK, US, Australia.”

Phone numbers on the satellite phone found the hijacked Indian fishing boat show calls were made to Zakir Ur Rehman, a Lashkar-e-Taiba training chief based in Karachi.

Indian intelligence officials also told The Times of India that 25 terrorists were “training in the Pakistan village of Durbari Mitho, and that an ISI agent was also involved in the training.” It is unclear if these were members of the Mumbai assault team.

…and Pres-elect Obama has already made it very clear that if India wants to conduct airstrikes on America’s ally, Pakistan, it’s perfectly acceptable. [QUESTION: is there a VIDEO PROFESSOR CD on diplomacy that we can send to Pres-elect Obama before January?]

Give BO a break. He must be exhausted having spent 30 large on that piece of BLING for MO. (She must have some good dirt on BO to get that kinda BLING. Maybe he’s on the DL?)

Obummer never did say he was too bright. He is the affirmative action President, didn’t you know that? So go easy on him.

If ego and arrogance were money, Obama would be King Midas. I wish GWB would just tell him to shut the hell up, I mean after all this guy is something else. The American people are, I believe, waking up to the reality that is Obama. Think back to his acceptance speech, who was on stage with him. There is no room in this guys world for any but himself, and no amount of talking will change that.

It has been known for some time that the ISI is riddled with Taliban and by association Al-Q supporters. The questions are who gave the operation their blessing and are they rogue or not?

It seems to me the goal of the operation was twofold:

1) Propaganda (We aren’t beat. We’re doing fine)
2) Get Pakistan to divert troops to the border with India. This may allow the Taliban and Al-Q to move around more freely and better avoid Predator attacks.

There is no loyalty in any weak government. At best, the government of Pakistan controls less than half the population. Corruption controls the rest of the population. Attacking Pakistan’s government won’t solve nothing because one can’t tell the ones loyal to the Pakistan government and the ones loyal to their wallets. India should just name names and let Pakistan deal with their corruption. If they can’t then yeah, the government is either in on it or is too weak to do something about it. If Pakistan’s government doesn’t respond because of either senerio, then that government needs to be replaced by a stronger outside force.

Hard Right,

It has been known for some time that the ISI is riddled with Taliban and by association Al-Q supporters. The questions are who gave the operation their blessing and are they rogue or not?

I agree with you on this. Another motive is to keep the money flowing. As long as there is AQ they (the Pakistanis) can continue to suck off the tit of American counter-terror funds. They keep stirring the pot to keep things active since they have a vested interest in getting our money. If the Taliban and AQ were defeated why would we keep pouring money over there? Plus by us “needing” them in the QWT we can be a backstop from potential issues from India.

There are 4 countries that need to be taken out post haste. Iran and N. Korea can be regime changed. Their people want out from under, and in the case of Iran, are already pro-Western. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are more difficult because large proportions of their populations are Islamofascist. These countries need to be degraded, way way down, stripped of resources, military, sovereignty, everything.

Pakistan just gave India an un-ignorable causas belli for undertaking that necessary degradation. What we should be doing is helping India figure out how to take out Pakistan’s ballistic missiles. Is Pakistan using the equivalent of SCUDs? Maybe the PATRIOT batteries that stopped a substantial percentage of SCUDS from landing in Israel back in 1990 are good enough to, with high probability, intercept a modest number of missiles that escape pre-emption.

Hey, Barak could declare WWIII and the Dems would back him to the hilt. They don’t have any actual policy views that they believe in for any reason. They are just pure anti-conservative bigots, defined by pure partisanship. If Barack slips into a war, they will become the biggest war boosters. Given that we need at least 4 more wars, I say take ’em however we can get ’em. If Pakistan wants to step up to the plate (they already did), then put a Javelin on the mound.

Just don’t go halfway. That won’t fly with a nuclear armed foe.

obama’s on the job training will end up costing many countries dearly. i am so glad he knows what the hell he is talking about. all he cares about is looking good on the world stage, well he has to make it off this stage in one piece and if he keeps this up he won’t. i guess he can go buy his wife another new ring.

If Pakistan wants to step up to the plate (they already did), then put a Javelin on the mound.

Reality check: A single nuclear blast in an American port city could kill more Americans than died in World War II. Forget ballistic missiles or even container ships which haven’t been inspected; such a weapon could be placed on a fishing boat or recreational sailboat and tied up in an East River marina or anchored in Charleston Harbor, to say nothing of the harbors of Los Angeles/Long Beach. It’s one thing to declare war on Iraq. It’s something entirely different to foment anti-US sentiment in Pakistan.
